The Lost Lands - how to start.

Advice and Rules Questions

For our next adventure we will be playing the Lost City of Barakus.

I want to tie it in and show how it fits with the rest of the Lost Land but have no clue where to start. Each book is a tomb. And how does each title fit into the world and with each other?

The Lost Lands is a pretty big setting. Someone made a rough map of the 'main' region here, and that may help to put things in the right context.

All the Lost Lands books are pieces of a bigger whole. the Lost Lands are HUGE, and not easily covered in one book (Greg is working on the Campaign Setting as we speak/type).

My suggestions for "needed books" would be Bard's Gate and Sword of Air. Those give the most information on the widest spread of area. Borderland Provinces, Sundered Kingdoms, and the Quests of Doom books go into more detail for their respective regions. Rappan Athuk is a mega-dungeon that ties in with Slumbering Tsar's history, so those are connected. Stoneheart Valley details the Tomb of Abysthor and surrounding areas, and ties into Bard's Gate.

It largely depends on what the PCs want to do in their explorations, and you should go to the website to read what areas to cover to determine whats going to work best for the group.

Thanks!

If you're doing Lost City of Barakus, I'd recommend the Player's Guide - it's easily the best I've ever read. Written entirely in character, it's a fantastic introduction to the city of Endholme, and sets up a bunch of plot hooks that the PCs can jump into - doing the hard work so you don't have to!

Other than that, the suggestions in the previous posts are good. there's a ton of options after you wrap up Barakus - they'd be at a good level to start any of Cults of the Sundered Kingdoms, Rappan Athuk, Sword of Air, Slumbering Tsar or (for a change of scenery) Razor Coast... Really depends on what you have access to, and what your players (and their characters) are interested in.

Is there an idea when will this kickstarter kickoff? I mean I know it's not soon but an approximation would be nice..
