Wow, it's been some time, eh? That sounds awesome and I hope you'll have fun with that tabletop climax. We really did have a great thing and I'd love to be in touch too! :D

PMing here is an option, but I can give my contact details if you want them.

Sindran takes another step towards the wall, both to get a better view on the bowman on the northern part of the room and for a better defense against whoever could be behind the curtain.

The half-orc chants a spell, the temperature rapidly increasing as a globe of fire appears over the bowman, threatening to inflict severe burns if he doesn't get out of the way.

Cast Flaming Sphere, DC 20 reflex negates. If victim fails saving throw:
Damage (fire): 3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) = 9
Rounds on Fire (2 fire damage at beginning of victim's turn): 1d4 ⇒ 2

The chain of force which tripped the guard that attacked Sindran winds its length around the man, dragging him away from the half-orc and closer towards Talon and the melee.

Drag: 1d20 + 9 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 9 + 8 = 32

Actions:
5-foot step SW and cast Flaming Sphere on the bowman at P-2. Choosing +2 to attack rolls and +2 dodge bonus to AC and reflex saves from Blessing of Fevor. +2 HP and +1 to attack rolls until end of next turn from Glorious Heat. +1 HP from Fire God's Blessing if flaming sphere hits.

Chain of Perdition drags the guard towards Talon and the Babau. Move 5 feet towards them on success and for every 5 that attack exceeds victim's CMD, move additional 5 feet.

Total: +2 HP (+3 HP if flaming sphere succeeds) and +2 dodge AC, +2 Reflex, +3 attack rolls until next turn.

Counter:
Blessing of Fervor - 7 rounds
Chain of Perdition - 8 rounds
Flaming Sphere - 9 rounds

Daaaang.

Also, I went peeking at your character block because that is some fearsome one-hit KO right there and you forgot that you have both Hatred and Grave Robbery. The first get you a +1 racial bonus on attack rolls vs humanoid (human), and the second gets you +1 trait bonus on confirming critical hits. Not that you need the help.

Also, also, I just discovered this great spell: Spellcasting Contract.

Devil-flavored and exclusive to Asmodean divine clerics/oracles. I hope I can get it. :D

It lets me give anyone I want the use of some of my spells in a contract. That is, they can cast the spells themselves as if I had cast them, limited to the level of spell and the creature's HD.

And as the caster I gain "a profane bonus to your Armor Class, saving throws, and checks equal to the highest-level spell you have imbued". Which, awesome!

So I can give, say, Grumblejack the ability to cast Obscuring Mist, Cure Light Wounds, and Silence once per day as if I had cast them myself and which refreshes every time I regain my spells. This reduces my spell slots, of course, but I have enough to go around. And it's worth it for the +2 profane bonus.

The bonus to checks may be subject to GM fiat since a check is "a d20 roll" meaning I presumably get it to attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, etc. So I pretty much get a bonus to everything while I have a contract.

That said: Would you like to make a contract?

Just popping in to share a devilishly excellent piece of temptation. It's from a transcribed story of someone's D&D campaign which I am currently enjoying: Tales of Wyre: Interlude with The Confuser.

I take no responsibility for the hours of archive binging which may ensue. Do be warned that this particular post is a major spoiler for the story and includes info dumps which would not be particularly interesting to someone who hasn't read through the story. But on that note, I am taking much inspiration especially since Sindran will be dealing, summoning, and binding with other planes if he survives that far and if the GM allows it.

I juuuust realized that casting Grace right in front of the opponent means they get an AoO unless I cast defensively. So, casting defensively!

Thrice a day? I thought it'd only be once. Well, I suppose this is good practice.

Sindran spares a moment to glance at the weapon sticking out of his stomach before looking up to glare at its owner, who has drawn back his sword with a handful of the half-orc's guts.

"Unwise," Sindran says, the word holding a terrible power, before utterly ignoring the man as he steps around him with an unnatural grace to stand at the corner of the room behind Cole and his mirror images.

He then casts a spell at his attacker, summoning a ghostly chain that weaves around the man's legs and attempts to bring him to the ground.

Trip: 1d20 + 9 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 8 = 33

Casting Grace as a swift action, move action to move ignoring AoOs to NW corner of U-6 because bloody hell I need a bodyguard where the heck is Grumblejack, and standard action to cast Chain of Perdition on the SE corner of T-4 to trip my attacker.

Ouch. That put Heitr's survivability at -1. I'll spend an action to perform Recover so it gets back to 0--probably the one helping the lizard minions. They haven't done anything useful, so this is a subtle reminder that they better get useful fast if they want more help. The other two actions will still be spent on ensuring Zikomo's loyalty and abductions to have a steady supply of sacrifices and replacements for undead.

Sindran should still be in his room (3-2) at this time of day. (3-3) is his hidden bedroom, but (3-2) is his actual office. Grumblejack would be with him at all times with the danger we're now in. May or may not have a retinue of more trustworthy minions (at your discretion) since Sindran is just paranoid like that, but there should be patrolling goblins and the guard he's stationed outside his room he can pick up. Hmm. Might actually use one of my organization's actions to perform Bodyguard. *shelves that at a later date*

This early in the morning, Sindran has just woken and is eating the breakfast brought to him. Grumblejack is eating his own meal, well away from anything important and barely out of Sindran's sight. Close enough to see if anything should happen but not actually requiring him to look at the mess.

He has just finished drinking a red liquid from his chalice which may or may not be blood and gives a small snort in satisfaction. He lifts a fork, something which may or may not be roasted pork impaled upon it, when the explosions sound and he shifts into action.

For Sindran's actions, first round is performing Blessing of Fervor (9 rounds) on him, Grumblejack, and any minions he has around. One possible benefit is increasing speed by 30 feet which should be enough to get his entire party to 3-9 where the throne is, minions and the like opening doors.

Second round is casting Sanctuary (Will DC 19, 9 rounds) on Sindran then speaking the command word to move in immediately with his entire party. Everyone should be well-trained enough to know what to do in this case and Sindran can quickly clarify.

I suggest using the skeletons as a first line of defense inside the Horn. They never need to rest and we'll have an easier time replacing them.

With the Ceustodaemons:

Sindran hurries to the highest levels of the Horn, fearing the worst.

When he arrives, he listens, making note of the area.

"That is most unfortunate," Sindran says, extremely displeased at the situation. Now their defenses were even more depleted. He makes a note to attempt to sway Ezra into thinking that stopping these intruders from disrupting the ritual would be in her best interest. "Would there be anything we could do to hasten his return?"

Argh, now the highest levels have been breached. There's only a light guard there considering the Ceustodaemons, but we might need to shore up defenses. This wouldn't be as troublesome if we can actually prevent them from coming in the first place. And that's not even considering that they might decide assassinating us instead of depleting our minions would be the way to go. Vexor might be more amenable to moving minions and such in case of an intruder now, but that doesn't stop us from getting invaded in the first place. Sindran would suggest finding out who the bloody hell is doing this and throw them to Vexor's tender mercies.

Sindran is out the room and checking the situation as soon as the alarm sounded. "Grumblejack, take point! Head down. Send a group to the seal with immediate alert if anything happens."

Waiting a few moments to gather some more minions to surround him, Sindran takes out the eye and begins attempting to scry out the situation below. When Grumblejack has assembled a good-enough protection detail, they begin heading down as Sindran assesses their options.

Walking down with a bodyguard team! Some of Heitr is on protection detail with me. I'll scry the area on the way, or if I can't walk and scry at the same tie, scry first then walk.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Let's see... for our internal defenses, I think we have our golem, our minotaur, the beasts Heitr caught, and assorted minions? For the jungle, we have our new minions and One-Eye. Also undead everywhere. We really should put an alert group on the thrones.

Sindran could disembowel himself! He's so hardcore he can even stay conscious throughout the whole thing and heal himself afterwards (his Diehard feat means he automatically stabilizes and remains conscious below 0 HP). Though he'll still use minions to actually do the cleaning up and Grumblejack to protect himself should anything go wrong.

I've been working on establishing direct control over the goblins, but they're quite unstable at the moment. I'll personally see myself appraised of the situation, however. It would be a good opportunity to drop by on our new... allies."

Talking about One-eye and the new minions, of course. Not sure where they moved. I wonder if we can still get those Eyes of the Eagle from the golem back.

The one sort-of convinced that we're the good guys and we need her help for a strengthening ritual on the seal of the Horn, if I recall correctly.

I'm still uncertain if she counts as a 'true' follower. This may necessitate a religion check? For important named followers of Sarenrae, there's Abbess Temperance Avigail of the Abbey of Saint Cynthia-Celeste in Farholde.

Oh, and we really should get started on the third sacrifice as well. Sindran is a bit busy with his pet projects though....

"Do tell me why a silver dragon is so important. I'm not familiar with their lore."

Sindran minds the fort, using the time to scry their defenses as well as check on their new assets, namely the cat and the lizards. He drops by to see how Zikomo's withdrawal is progressing, weaning his dependence on the half-orc.

He delegates most of the work once he's seen to things, using any remaining time to check on what Ezra is doing and how Hexor-and-Vexor's game is progressing!

Oh, and bathing in the blood of innocents and engaging in ritualistic sacrifice, I guess.

My next feat slot will be taken by Divine Interference but I'm posting this anyway since Caladwhen might be interested in it.

Sacred Geometry is an interesting feat because it requires you, the player, to actively perform mathematical operations for it in exchange for a good chance of two metamagic feats on a spell of your choice for free.

It's weird because this is one of the few instances where the player takes an active role in determining how it works out. And also because in a tabletop game it would horribly delay encounters as the guy with this feat furiously performs math while everyone else glares at him to hurry up. So basically every tabletop game ever with a player being glared at instead of the GM.

This might not seem broken, but someone did the math, and when you have 12 ranks of Knowledge (engineering), the chance of coming out with a valid solution is 100% for every spell level. Even better if you have a program that does the math for you.

Pretty much on par with the Divine Protection feat I took that gives me broken saving throws.

A perfect question to pose to them in exchange for what we could provide. Desperate enough men would make a deal with the devil.

Scouts. Fodder. Sacrifices, Sindran mused, returning the lizadmen's pleading gaze with a blank look. Minions who have further knowledge outside of the territory of the goblins. Replacements for the goblins in case Zikomo does not work out and considering how fast the goblins disappear even with constant new additions.

He could say he would help them and name a price, of course, but it was far more amusing to see them squirm. And too often did one in despair bargain away more than their worth.

"We could help," he began, and then paused, letting Grumblejack fall in line behind him after he signaled him closer, "but we could not do so for free. We're in the middle of some trouble ourselves and cannot spare resources with nothing to gain."

The half-orc sets to looking for the chief.

Yup. Just wrapping this up. Find the chief, tell him White Owl's dead. Observe reaction, find out what they needed from White Owl, figure out if they could provide it instead, and make it so they're indebted to the 9th, subservient to the 9th, or otherwise incapable of refusing the very polite offer to help them defend the Horn. That is a pretty good reference for Sindran. Not exactly his build and his mouth wouldn't be covered, but there's definitely some hoodoo going on there.

We must always endeavor to find uses for LOLcats. Cole, you're listening to a cat and Sindran meow at each other.

Sindran remains in the same position, not holding eye contact for long to show they didn't come to fight. He gauges One-Eye's response and finds him caught off-balance.

He waits a few moments, letting the cat tense in the wait, considering his words and muses on using one of the lizards as an offering if they continue to get on Grumblejack's bad side. Reasonable doubt.

Finally, he speaks.

Kittyspeak:

"You've already claimed something of mine. Two goblins more than seven suns ago. They were mine, and you took them. You did not know, but I will not give you more with nothing for me."

"We'll see," Sindran says to Cole noncommittally. "For now, stay beside me and do nothing. Grumblejack will do the same. Talon, be prepared to block off any escape routes should he flee."

Sindran takes out a wand from his pouch and taps himself with it, muttering something to activate the magic. He then pockets the wand and starts another spell, fingertip trailing with fire as he burns a symbol in the air over his chest.

Casting Speak with Animals on myself followed by a brief Sanctuary.

Done, he raises a hand, palm forward, signalling the others stay. He walks forward to One-Eye and then stands neutral, a distance long enough for neither to threaten another but short enough to speak. He waits for One-Eye to acknowledge his presence, hands crossed behind him, delaying his ability to raise them in front of him should the other attack. A sign of confidence.

"Hello."

"Of course," Sindran agrees, stating it as fact. "I desire to share knowledge. We seek her for our own reasons, but if I hear why you desire to speak to her, perhaps we might work together."

Drat. I'll redirect.

"Her position is not known to us," Sindran acknowledges. "We seek her as well."

Oh, excellent, Draconic is one of the languages Sindran speaks. No need for Tongues.

Sindran acknowledges the elder lizardman with a nod, returning the greeting with a probing question in Draconic. "I am Sindran. Do you know who we are?"

"Mhm, yes." Sindran muses on which approach to take. " This might speed our search as well; they would know the area and know what we're looking for. Let me do the talking."

Sindran gestures for Grumblejack to stay close and then hunches forward, folding his arms in as fire suddenly bursts from his back, rising upward until they take the form of burning wings.

The half-orc straightens then flaps his wings, sending a wave of heat outward and himself upward, rising into the sky. He hovers for a few moments, wings flapping around him, eyes seeking out the hut most likely to be their leader's and enters the village, intent on landing in front of it.

I'll use a minute of Wings of Fire to enter the village dramatically.

Sindran lands and waits for the lizardmen to make the first move, dragging out their fear and anticipation, ready to retaliate with excessive force to cement his position before speaking.

Not sure if they speak Common so I'll listen for their cries of mercy /etc. to decipher what language they speak before speaking to them in their own language. I have the helm which gives me constant Comprehend Languages, but I'll cast Tongues on myself right before entering so I can speak their language back.

Grumblejack and the others can aid Intimidate or just hang menacingly in the background or something, I dunno.

I'd like to use Heitr's other action this week to spend on getting Vision Juice. I'd order the goblins, but, well, there's a chance Zikomo can interfere. Besides, I think I've stockpiled enough peasants to go one week without using an Abduct Peasants action.

Sindran doesn't bother trying to make Grumblejack quieter. They were announcing their presence, after all.

"Very stealthy," Sindran says, agreeing with Grumblejack's story. It reminds him of a few of his own work. Intimidation worked wonders. "You will be stealthy for this one too."

I somehow missed this, but better late than never. Regarding Zikomo's Vision Juice, Sindran probes for what it is and what/where the fruit and other ingredients are, as well as the process for making it. The aim here is to make Zikomo dependent on Sindran for future doses.

I think investigating those hills would still be worth it. And it will give Talon something to do.

Going back to One-Eye. I suggest Sindran with Grumblejack, Talon, and Cole. Not bringing along any other minions, except maybe a few goblins who know the path. Caladwhen will hold the fort, but she can alert us with the Rings if anything happens. I suggest the day after the Cole and Talon return with their report. I can't think of any other method than walking. Though perhaps if it's along the river, we can get on a boat if the current isn't against us. And if we're walking, perhaps we can bring along Zombie Luggage. Might be a bit daft without its master, but it should still work as transport and an additional combatant.

Stating again that Sindran took the following from the loot of the 7th:

Potion of Gaseous Form
Cloak of Resistance (+3)

Talon, there's an Amulet of Natural Armor (+2) included in the 7th's loot. You might want it.

There are also 4 potions of moderate wounds, which is again useful.

Item Purchases:
Wand of Speak with Animals [CL 1] - 750 GP
Wand of Mage Armor [CL 1] - 750 GP
Scroll of Speak with Plants [CL 2] x2 - 200 GP each

Total: 1150 GP

Suggestions on what to craft/do with the money:
I can't recommend Handy Haversack enough. Craft one for everyone! Replace our backpacks! Never worry about item weight and capacity! Get things out with a move action! I will resort to buying it, really.

Upgrade Sindran's Headband of Alluring Charisma from (+2) to (+4) // Cost (craft): 6,000 GP

Spellguard Bracers for casters // Buying is 5,000 gp, Caladwhen doesn't have the feat prerequisite

Get a Wand of Cure Light Wounds for Talon/Caladwhen/etc. Someone needs to be able to heal if I'm not there. I have Wand of Cure Light Wounds [CL 5] (30 charges) if anyone wants it. I'll swap it for a CL 1 Wand of CLW.

When we get to level 9, Caladwhen should start crafting everyone Cloak of Resistance (+3). We could do (+2) for now and upgrade it later, too, but we're close to leveling I think.

Also, metamagic rods and Pearl of Power for you guys. And a Bookplate of Recall because your spellbook is important.

Eyes of the Eagle for a Perception bonus.

Good going! Sindran actually wanted to diplomatize One-Eye in the first place but I didn't want to interrupt your encounter. :P Should have mentioned that these were, first and foremost, scouting expeditions.

Locals will tell you that old One-Eye has been hunting the northern reaches of the Caer Bryr for decades. Those who have faced the beast, and lived, suspect that the creature must be more than a simple dire tiger. It is claimed to be a vicious demon of the forest that can breath fire and kill a horse with a swipe from its tail.

This One Eye is probably a more intelligent creature than a typical dire tiger - but some of the locals' stories seem far-fetched.

Sindran will go with the next party to talk with One Eye. He has Tongues and Elemental Speech, but I'll also get a few scrolls of Speak with Animals. In fact, maybe I'll just make it a wand. If we come across any more animals, it would be useful. Maybe a scroll of Speak with Plants then.

If I can't get One-Eye to aid us, or at least come to a mutually beneficial agreement, then we need to deal with him. Talon and Cole again would be fine, with me acting as support, and Grumblejack as my bodyguard. Just don't let him attack me if it comes to it. I'd die.

That also reminds me, need to investigate the strange hills called the Karst. Another expedition after dealing with the tiger, anyone? Some minions should be brought though, since this one seems like a Treasure Hunt. I'll spend my other organization action to scurry out information about them first.
