Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Watching the beast strike Armistad, Silas stands up and fires a round from his own pistol.

Rolls:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Sending yet another bullet arbitrarily into it's carcass.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Silas walks inconspicuous away, clutching his gut.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Lower your weapon first, freak! And you can live this time!

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

The Mwangi oracle arises and becomes frantic that something is missing. She informs Silas of such and the two report to the Captain who finally agrees to let them ride ahead to scout a path.

As the caravan eats breakfast and prepares for the five wagons and fifty soldiers to depart, a slight tremor is felt again.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Silas insists on returning to the caravan to make a report since no one is truly in danger. It seems odd, but Armistad quietly follows suit leaving the party to follow the actions of their newest possible companion, agile as he is. He takes off towards the fray stopping every 100 ft. To possibly land an arrow upon the troublesome scorpion.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Well then, do we approach them and help them with their vermin problem or head back for reinforcements and clear the area?

I'd hate to lose all of our muscle so early in the trek.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Silas, excited briefly about hitting the beast with lead, tries to avoid embarrassment as he realizes that Verrin is right and it was a mistake to use such a loud weapon. Luckily the orcs and other vermin are equally struggling to gain the advantage with each other.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Silas replies to the attack by drawing his pistol and lets off a shot.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage [/dice: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

claw attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

The enormous clacking sound seems to come from nowhere as the Paladin narrowly avoids the destructive giant claw of the scorpion.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Silas, being near the front, but on the outside is caught flat-footed by a giant scorpion.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

I'll go as well, the hatted man volunteers with a grin.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

The new hires are awakened early by the pounding of the Halfling upon their doors. The sun has just started to rise. Food can be smelled from the hall below. Men are inhaling breakfast, checking over their equipment and weapons before heading outside.

Five wagons, heavily fortified, are being readied for the journey. Their wheels are wide and heavy with rough. folded leather coverings. Each wagon is pulled by a team of the six sturdiest draft horses ever seen. Almost twenty hands at the shoulder.

After everyone is assembled. The Captain approaches the newly hired adventurers and explains that he would like them to spread out in a line parallel to the caravan, half on one side and half on the other and also if they have a preference as to who is in the front, middle and back.

Marching order please.

The captain gives the signal, a horn is blown and the caravan begins to lumber slowly down the fabricated stone highway along the river valley.
The guard is 50 strong. A few others are also riding along. The wagons are clad in iron sheathing with thin metal slits to serve as windows around them.

The man with the hat rides in front along with the manly female mwangi that you noticed from the tavern last night.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

A man in a hat strapped with a side arm stands up and interrupts the Captain who is about to speak,

Look em over Captain. Seems a good idea to join up with a caravan and then turn on it halfway through the journey. If we make it that far.

I'd be especially careful of the demon-spawn and the orc. Their kind ain't known for helping humans out much.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

longbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Silas draws an arrow and releases it towards the closest scorpion tearing down the outer barricade.

It too finds a fleshy spot as the over-sized creature shrieks.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Lackey watch the chest!

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Darius and Augustus walk over to the scrapyard under the watchful eye of the guards on the roof and the smith coming to greet them.

Silas and the other thirsty travellers are at the door of the cantina when a hoen blast rings out loud.

Someone yells out, The beast is back!

Vigus comes running out of the admin building and yells, Light the lamps!Close the gates!

A blood curling scream is heard coming from the back gate.

Roll initiative please.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Very well. That's probably the wisest choice. I want to see what information I can gather.

The viceroy heads over to the "administrative" building with Vigus.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Thom and Silas are headed for the cantina. Magali and Armi are staying with the caravan and prisoners. What is everyone one else doing?

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Come on, I'll buy you a drink gentlemen. Magali, are you sure that you don't want to come with us?

Silas invites his new traveling companions.

Merrilin takes out his journal book and draws a simple layout of the town's buildings, structures and landmarks. He also looks around at the buildings trying to identify the purposes of each building (blacksmith, town hall, homes etc), and anything else worth noticing such as nearby vegetation/plants and landscapes.

I'm not sure what the rules are for taking a 20, but if I'm able to do it I'd like to take a 20 on the following skills:
Knowledge local (27), Knowledge Geography (23), Knowledge Nature (23) Perception (21)

It is quite dark. So there is not much to be gained from being outside right now.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Maybe we should take turns on watch as our footmen are fairly green.

Vigus. Do you have any place to put our captures? Silas inquires as he points to the gnolls.

Of course. My men will takecare of them, if you wish.

Please don't just help yourself to the scrapyard. That is how we make our income here. You may purchase scrap from the smith, or earn it. states Vigus.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

More than enough time for what? replies Vigus. Yes,...Master Goggles, it is good to be safe in an area such as this. A small town like this does not exist in a hostile environment for long without vigilance.

Darius:
You are welcome to build your character how you choose within RAW. If you want anything outside of that, just ask and I will do my best to concede.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

He can't be from this outpost. He can be from any other town in Mana wastes if you want.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

The formula book is written in an unrecognizable script. There are only two entries.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

A very well-dressed man approaches the caravan flanked by four armed guards.

My name is Vigus. I am the city administrator of Argen, some call it outpost, but it has a name. Welcome. Please take some respite from the wastelands and enjoy our hospitality.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

For which campaign? Describe it for me please.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

The town is laid out in a circular pattern save the fenced-in debris field adjacent to the smithworks, close to the entrance. The three-story building in the center of the fort has an open area in front of it. Next to the smithy is the barn/stable. Next to that, the domed tavern. The inn is directly behind the large building. The smithy doesn't really mention the other four buildings. You notice that every once in awhile, you can make out a dark shadow on the roofs of most of the buildings.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

In an unprecedented move, I am going to allow PCs to reselect traits and feats if you wish when and only when you level to 2. After that, you will have to be creative with what you have selected.

I found this page while looking through the pathfinder stuff and was wondering if we could utilize the trait system from the advanced player's guide

Traits

I don't do hero points. I reward players with extra XP. I can't see your character sheet from my phone. What traits do you currently have?

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

You have to make the skill check. Based upon that check, I will tell you what you find out.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

It depends. What do you want to find out?

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

No, I have not seen your pack. Probably spirits again.

Silas addresses the team.
Okay. If everythings secure and the wagons are mended, let's move out. Perhaps we'll male the outpost before it gets too late.

The twelve-mile trek is really ten and it proves to be uneventful save the scurrying of creatures and a large rumbling under the ground that causes a few tremors. This happens about three times before the caravan makes it to the outpost.

Once there, the group notices the fort is more like a very small town. It is surrounded by large pieces of metal as well as small piles of now defunct machinery.

There are about eight two-story buildings constructed of crude brick and limestone. There is a building that looks like a saloon or tavern with a domed roof that Lackey refers to as the cantina.

The building in the center of town is the only three story building in town constructed of crude brick, stone and smithed metal pieces. It's windows are narrow slits and it's pocked with what appear to be holes from perhaps a cannon seige or boulders that have been launched by a catapult.

The town is small with just a few people milling about. It is mid-evening and the smithy is the first building that the party encounters. It is adjacent to a large fenced-in field of junk and mechanical parts, mostly metal.

Let's find an inn. Silas requests of Lackey.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

We will split it up in town.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

The alchemist had fifty gold, bandolier with worthless formulae. A formulae book, backpack, dagger, flask of alchemist fire, one flask of acid, a tanglefoot bag, a sunrod, a waterskin and some dried meat.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Well, it's about mid-morning, barring any more surprises, we should make it to the outpost late in the evening. These crawlers are slow. Armi has water and medicine if you need it. We'll save the ale for when we don't need our wits about us.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

I'm going to let everyone have a chance to agree to the contract and RP a bit. Introduce your pcs. Then I will continue.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

There is one hundred copper and fifty silver altogether.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Darius:
The gnolls can only tell you that they got the weapons from "the Boss" whose name they don't know, but the alchemist did as they attest to several times.

Yeah I'll put my things in bold sorry :P

Thx for info, also just to be clear I take a -4 for not being proficient and -2 for size problems right? (making a total of -6)

That is correct.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Grillik, you will still have to scout as terrain is littered with metal debris and outcroppings of rock. All good hiding places.

Tony Lindman wrote:
The only musket I can find is a 1d12 for a medium, is this a custom gun?

No custom. You are correct. I errored. 1d12 medium.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

The terrain right now is flat with sparse hills, kind of like high desert.

Doc Hambleton is just the narrator. He is telling the story of what's going on as if it is happened. I didn't want to load up my account with a bunch of one shot avatars, so he will narrate the story. The viceroy offered everyone employment.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Also Thom, when you speak in character, can you put your words in bold?
goes before what you say and again after, but with this inside / suvh as [/d]

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Musket weighs twelve pounds and is considered a martial weapon for this campaign. Are you familiar with d20pfsrd.com? It's like an online rulebook for PF. It can answer most of your questions, if you don't have time to wait for my response. Pbps are awfully slow.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

I don't think Tom can fire it without a penalty. It is medium-sized, Thom is small. Let me look up how much it weighs.

Of what?

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

There were also five powderhorns and 4 balls a piece.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Dex mod for ranged attack, damage is 1d10.

With commonplace guns you may have proficiency.

Male Mwangi Human Holy Gun 1

Everyone gets 550 xp and we are on fast advancement.
