Septima raises an eyebrow at Amara, a smile just barely showing on her face.

She coughs and turns to Rexus. "I'm sorry to interrupt but, you were saying, sir?"

Septima stepped back from Amara's personal space, nodding as she moved. taking ten on k(Nobility) would be an 18 for her, so I'm going to run with her knowing a bit. She bit her lip, should she say anything? No, no. Let's not throw the news of her destitute family in the face of someone who could cleave you in half with a table.

"They're...not very liked, honestly. Especially now." she smiled tightly, rocking on her heels. "My mother was a painter, professionally. You may have seen some of her portraits. ...or heard some of her impassioned speeches, maybe."

I don't actually recall offhand exactly how much Septima knows about Amara's history, so I'm going to assume it's somewhere between 'jack' and 'squat', since this is their first real conversation.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Septima says tactfully, though her eyes widen in surprise. A question frees itself from her lips before she can politely wrangle it back. So, you're a noble? I didn't even realize, you don't-"

Red consumes Septima's face. "Su-Sorry. I shouldn't pry into your life." She gulps, a vivd image of Ramon in her mindseye. What a great way to get to know a party member, Septima!

I've read up to Summer Knight, but it's been a while. They were awesome books, tho! The audiobook is done by Spike from Buffy, if that appeals to anyone.

Septima froze.

"Oh."

She tried to school her face into something more polite than the slackjawed expression her reaction wanted from her. 'This is not what I expected. This is definitely not what I expected to see today.'

"I see, of course." She reaches for the laces and starts to tie them neatly.

"Amara... Have you been carrying this with you the whole time?"

Septima had already cleaned herself by the time, thoroughly enough to leave a soft red mark on her forearms from the force of her scrubbing. Her hair was still damp, rings of curls only just regaining their shape. She was out of her comfort zone by miles, but at least being clean in the bunkhouse felt better than the muck she had been covered in before.

She had been watching Alexis before, pointedly ignoring Mira's voice and staying right where she was at least warm(ish) and fed. Besides, her head was full enough with the events previous already, the last she needed was to wander into trouble yet again. She had barely finished mourning her parents, for gods' sake, and now she was already evading the law.

'Well. At least Mother would be proud of that much.'

Her thoughts paused at the sound of another voice. Amara. "Mmm?" She responded, shaking her damp head before standing and going over to her. What in the world did Amara need help with? Blade sharpening, or...?

A smile does not magically appear, but Tikkle does manage to pull some pink cheeks out of Septima's surprised expression.

Yeah, I haven't run into anyone that's really taken the age thing seriously. Is also the least experienced of the group by far so YMMV

I suppose it makes sense if you're making a lvl 1 fighter a 70 year old granny who just started her journey to avenge her village from the big bad. An A++ concept, btw

But an ex-soldier or someone with experience? I don't see the point in throwing the same restrictions on them.

She holds her hands out, waiting for Amara to show her the infected area.

Septima returns to the cistern with a wine bottle cradled in the crook of her arm, and the raven statuette in another, gazing at it curiously.

Thanks to Amara's great and Totally Accurate saying, Septima snaps out of whatever deep thought that had wrapped her mind up for so long.

Septima wipes the drool off of her face, wincing briefly. She shakes it off, then reaches out towards her again, this time scratching behind an ear. The fear of being eaten by dogs has now slowly left her, so guess what Amara, Septima is making sense again!

"We're not honestly considering keeping this thing, are we?"

Septima nods and goes towards the dog, her posture low (having remembered some vague tidbit from childhood about dogs disliking height...or something. Who knows if it applies to dire ones.)

She looks back at the others and asks, in her own not-normal way that kind of cuts Amara out of the conversation, if she should heal it.

Septima hesitates, but after seeing the dog not lunge for her, she takes a knee, letting herself go close to the ground. Her next attempt at speaking is quite soft, despite her current impairment.

"We've stopped fighting. Are you going to stop as well?"

Hopefully, it doesn't take it as a chance to attack... and if it does, Amara is there to save her, right? Right?

Also I know Alexis wants Septima to do a Handle Animal skill but, I don't have it and isn't it trained only? I did a CHA check anyway, just in case, but otherwise she can't really do much, to be entirely honest...

She faces the big dog and tries to do something, really anything to try and calm it...hopefully Infernal doesn't scare it?

I know Handle Animal is trained only but... worth a shot? Otherwise, assume that Septima is holding her action.

Septima wakes with a frown and a feeling of discomfort vaguely floating in her belly.

She goes to sit somewhere quiet for a moment to collect herself and meditate while the rest of the party does...Stuff.

I tried to see if oracles have the second requirement to pray like clerics do, but I didn't find anything clear. I'm going to assume no, since they don't need to prepare, but I'm keeping the meditation angle for fluff's sake.

The hallway in question is off to the side and lined with windows as well, one of them shows a boy in darkness, his neck tied in a red noose that's held by another person.

...or at least, that's all Septima sees before the figure flips a lever and the doors to that hallway slam shut.
