Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind.
1. Small body, loud voice. Septima looks mousy, but dammit, people will listen to her. Overall, she has the clear skin and groomed appearance of nobility. Those close to her though note a sudden change in deminor, like a distant look in her eyes or slumped posture at times.
2. Gallus is a minor noble house in the city, with a crest of a rooster crowing at the sun. This is apt, as her family has a sterotype of being both loud and cocky. Her parents in particular are known for their philantropic work in the city and support of social issues. This has not done them many favors among other nobles, to say the least. This is probably why they're dead, and the rest of the family branded as allies of the rebels.
3. She currently lives in her family manor in the Greens, with an aunt.
4. Septima has little to no combat experience, much less in killing. She learned to use a crossbow as a hobby and before the protest, she took an ornimental morningstar from the mantle, just in case. She hopes not to use either.
5. Her magic is a recent development, born from heavenknows where about two months before current day. She has a layman's understanding of magic, but has never tried it until her oracle powers developed.
Step 2: List at least two goals for the character.
1. To get to the bottom of the conspiracy against her house. Be it find the truth of her parent's death, quell the rumors around them, or what have you.
2. Learn her new powers, and hopefully the source of them. New skills don't just appear overnight, and not without cost...
Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves her but that she is not actually aware of yet.
1. Known- Gallus is a minor house for good reason. Their investments are drying up, and quickly.
2 Unknown- The circumstances and reasons of her parents death. They may have been involved with weapons smuggling with undesirables to the new regime.
Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile.
1. Maria Gallus - Her mother, a pureblood noble with a soft spot for helping the downtroden. Was known as a accomplished painter, and sold quite a few portraits in her time. May have been a rapscallion in her younger years
2 Julia Caelius Gallus - Her aunt, married into the family (now widowed) and not very proud of it. Known to be a miser, and rumored to be a homewrecker to another, more major house. She did not quite like her parent's use of the family money for charity, and now shifts that disdain over to Septima.
3. Lucia - A servant of the family, and Septima's childhood oratory teacher. Clever, and quite the conversationalist. A former con artist that was close friends with Maria, and taught Septima the loopholes of buracracy.
Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has.
1. Born with a stutter, which has been tempered with training from Lucia but still comes out in times of great stress. This may be how her curse of Tongues came forth, maybe.
2. Spent a lot of time with her mother as a child, learning art and the structure of people's faces. Maria in particular taught her how the face changes when someone lies.
3. Septima has no friends. She had playmates as a child, mostly cousins and other families, but she is an introvert by nature and is not often seen outside of the manor. The protest will change that.
