Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

I'm actually taking Animal Bond twice. Once for each class.

My idea is to be able to help out Faelyn by being a blasty Sorc. Then the Ranger can take the Combat type to either help out Lucrezia or help out Duncan/Orsino.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Showing the very early replacement character off.

The idea is a Sorcerer/Ranger with both classes taking the 'Animal Companion' abilities. It means the character starts with two medium felines.

Lvl:5th, HD: 5,BAB: +3,Fort: +4,Ref: +4,Wil: +1,Skills: 5,Feats: 3,Natural Armor: +2,Str/Dex Bonus: +1,Number of 'Tricks': 2.

Thoughts? Comments?

Filios:
*Bows* Thank you for the reply. I found the references to the games and while it would be fun I already have a character in some one else's Carrion Crown game and am running one 'Face to face' as well, as it were, so any more might be a bit of an over load. :)

Again, thank you for bringing it to folks attention.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Finishing her third helping of the meaty stew the bronzed Amazon yawn and stretches, flexing her arms and arching her back.

Adding post to bring thread back up. Also, Linky please good Sir Filios? *Bows*

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

At the sight of the flitting dragon form Selyne initially and instantly tenses up, the dagger she'd drawn in preparation for the coming meal shifting in her hand before relaxing as she take in the actual size and motion of Tik-Tik.

Seeing the tiny form swooping and carrying she turns her attention to the bowl that is slid in front of her, leaning forwards and sniffing it the steaming broth inquisitively.

"It smells meaty enough...though there is a lot of water mixed in..." She frowns and pokes at the stew with her dagger, impaling the largest hunk of meat and lifting it to nibble upon almost delicately.

"Mmmm....nice...." Is her response.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne nods at Filio's words and moves to 'perch' upon one of the benches/seats where he has indicated. She tucks the javelin into one of pockets of the quiver across her back even as she pulls a dagger from its sheath upon her shin.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Seluyne initially steps away form the rising Elf, her javelin twisting in her grip. She watches him carefully for any other sudden moves. When he comes to a stop she carefully leans forward and sniffs towards his hand.

"What means...'Buy'...?" She asks with a frown. "I have things I give for some." And again she indicates the plates.

I must admit, it has been such a while since I played Selyne I've quite forgotten her level of 'civility'. *Goes back to original thread and brushes up on character*...

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Having watched the two others walk past her and into the fabric space, Selyne has waited for a short while. When no sounds of loud tearing, chewing nor screaming had issued from within its folds she steps out of the shadows and towards the entrance.

The lithe figure steps into the opening of the tent, weight resting upon one leg, lead foot arched forward as she pauses and her eyes scan the crowd.

Standing tall, lithe and proud, wearing her netting artfully held in place by strategically placed jewelry. She cuts a stunning figure.

Attached to the 'webbing' at various, easy to reach places, are pouches; Some large most small.

Around her hips a braided rope can be seen, though upon closer inspection it is noted that it is a whip. The handle of which is cleverly clasped at her wrist by a jeweled bracer, before winding up around her left arm, over her shoulders and twists sinuously around her torso to the rest of the length of leather which is wrapped about her slim waist.

Across her back, again attached to the netting, is a quiver -from which various pole arms, bows, the fletching of arrows and other things can be seen poking.

Inspirational Images (SFW):

Slowly she stalks into the tent space, a javelin held lightly in one hand, its tip pointing towards the floor, her bare feet making no noise as she moves gracefully towards the center of the room.

The mystery woman from the shadows turns and her gaze, having swept around first the canvas interior, then all of those within giving them equal measure, alight upon the largest plate/bowl of meat/stew.

"That?" She points and the javelin tip's direction straight at her quarry in question is emphasis to leave no doubt, "What do I need trade to get?" She asks to all.

And so Selyne escapes finally from her Island prison and home.*Bows*

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

*Shakes head* How quickly one forgets. =)

There comes a soft thump from some where close by the darker of the tent walls.

Then the soft pad of bare feet,

Stealth:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

A figure moves to lurk beside the open tent-flap.

It's been so long I forgot I'd already been welcomed into said wonderful carnival atmosphere before. Said character has been picked up by a wonderful group of players and is doing well. *Bows*

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

General:
*bows* Thank you for the reply. I am happy to go where ever the mighty DM puts us.....oh...wait....(¬_¬)

(^_~)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

General:
Sorry for 'meta-gaming' but what is the aim of the adventure again? I seem to remember the DM explaining something about trans-planar travel and a thing about 'moving' the island to some other place where the creatures would be 'more at home'. I am then guessing that the volcano wouldn't shift with the island (perhaps actually making another island and a sort of history repeating/resetting coming into play. Just looking for a direction again. *bows*

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Does Selyne remember the Island rumbling or shaking in the past?

Looking towards the trio she asks,

"Has anything like this happened before? Were you aware of this Volcano?"

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Spoiler:
Yay! For us plugging away and having fun! (^_^)

Selyne simply looks at Bo, her face seemingly expressionless. She stands gracefully, her eyes not leaving him.

"And where, exactly, do you suggest people run away too?" She asks.

"I do know there is nothing but ocean all about the land. Or is this just a small volcano? Something that can be run away from?" Though her voice is mind, there is some scorn in its tone.

While I do keep an eye on both the PbP and the discussion thread? I fear this adventure is winding down to a close. However, if the Dm does come by and notice the questions and activity, I shall be more than glad to welcome you aboard. :)

Here's to hoping things are not quite as dire as they seem. =)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne just raises an eyebrow,

"How should the journey have differed from all the other times I have been here?" She asks bluntly,

Yay! We have our DM back! Now to see how many Players are still looking in.

"Who is this 'Bo' you speak of?"

Selyne nods at the three people's words as she stands absently brushing her self down.

"I think Bo is like Dao and Reonnyn, some one who has come here on one of the great sky canoes." She responds simply.

Edit: To fix description. ;)

Not bad there, Selyne!" He leers at her, You keep that up 'n mebbe I'll teach you some other things I learned while sailin' the open seas!"

Yeah color me surprised, he he.

Selynes' instinct to Reonnyn's reaction is to coil, ready to counter attack. As he calms and smiles again at her, she is left puzzled and confused. Emotions she does not even try to hide as she keeps frowning at Reonnyn. She twists into a crouch.

"Clearly there is much about 'civilized' I do not know..." She replies. Then to the trio,

"Can this one be of use to you?" She again indicates the Despoiler. "How long should it take Bo to scout out this Volcano?" She adds.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Reonnyn looks at Selyne, she gets the impression as if the halfling is trying to figure out her true motivations, or maybe he is just admiring her physique.

"Well, you look untamed to me...ahem...so yeah, that one has power, so what? We all gots power here. Problem here is she uses her power against us, so we's gotta stop that first. Then we can convince her to help us." He is clearly unconvinced this one will do anything to help the group.

Reonnyn shrugs, "As for our guide, I think he called himself Bo, but if that was his real name, then I'm Cap'n Jack Sparrow!"

Selyne initially looks as if she doesn't really understand what Reonnyn actually is talking about. However at his last comment she frowns,

"But, didn't you call yourself Reonnyn? Or is that some sort of joke and your name really is jack?" She frowns, obviously puzzled.

So sorry, but I couldn't resist. :3

Db3's Narrator wrote:
Okay, so was the question about "taming the despoiler" asked to the 3 or Dao and Reonnyn?

Well, to every one actually.

Selyne frowns, though initially whether at Doa's words or Reonnyns' none can tell. Softly, she speaks.

"I have lived my entire life in this place." She looks at both Reonnyn and Dao, "A place that both of you have said is untamed...," She sighs, "What does that make me?" She again looks at the 'Despoiler'.

"This one claimed to be doing nothing mor than avenging loss. It claims that it's anger and hatred are what drive it." Selyne shrugs. "Things that I truly care nothing about." Her voice rises back to normal, "However, wild as I am," She grins at her companions, though in jest or not they aren't sure, "What i do understand is POWER and this one has it." She indicates the fallen woman.

"Perhaps this volcano thing is powerful as well? Should we not use every thing we have to fix the problem?" She looks at the three, "Besides, we have to wait for...um....the other one..." She finishes lamely, realizing she has forgotten the name of the man who's run off to look at the 'Volcano'.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Yay! The Dm is back. (^_^) Feel free to move us, of light of the world. (^_^) *bows*

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne looks to Dao.

"Living here is the only life I've known." Selyne shrugs her tanned shoulders.

"Now, about fixing this one?" She asks and indicated the 'despoiler', "I may not know much of the world, but I do know that taming something wild and using it is a good thing." She says matter of factually.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

At Reonnyn's words Selyne frowns, then again sighs and simply sits down (In a very un-lady like fashion)

"But. This 'Volcano' thing. Is it a part of the land? Or is it something new?" Selyne asks. Then she actually blushes, the colour adding to the tanned skin of her cheeks.

"I must admit to simply living my life aroud the area where the trees meet the sea. It was an easy place to live." She sighs.

"After all this time of simply living here. I find myself realizing how much I haven't actually experienced anything much."

Oh, and by the way. Another game in which I play has lost its DM. Any chance of this game picking up some extra players to make up for the current slow speed of posting? (^_^)

EDIT: Oh, I just realized the level difference between the games. Most of those players are only second level....hmmm. Not sure how 'boosting' them up to seventh might go. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained. (^_^) Cheers!

Reonnyn wrote:
Ehhh, I don't think it works like that. If these people say its our problem, then guess whose problem it is now?"

At Reonnyn's whispered words Selyne sighs. Looking to the trio she asks,

"This one seems to be...damaged." She again dismisivly nudges the woman with a foot.

"Would you perhaps have some power or magic that might..fix it?" She asks.

"As for going looking for this volcano...didn't you say that was a bad thing?" She asks Reonnyn softly.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne looks down at the halfling and shrugs.

"These people have taken her. She's their problem now." She replies dismissively.

Um...that's not my ear....:P (^_~)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne looks from their captive to the trio as she listens to Reonyn's response to ther question. She tries not to show her nervousness about the three's odd behaviour.

"As for this one's state? Why not just make sure she's properly restrained and then give her a potion? I'm sure there are things you could coax out of her?" Selyne emphasizes just how hard they could do their coaxing with another nudge of her foot to the bound victims head.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Accidentally 'bumps' said prisoner with bare foot. ;)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Pretty much all of Reonnyn's words flow past Selyne, she takes more interest in the trio before them. Wondering why and how they act as they do.

Spot:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Oh, is our captive friend awake yet?

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

*Waves* Sorry for not posting/ipdating. I've lost my internet access and it's taken me this long to get anywhere near the boards. Will try and do better at 'keeping my end up'. (^_^) Much cheers to all.

While the added wieght if her captive does slow Selynes lythe, predatory figure down. She seems none the worse for wear after the hustle through the Gnome city.

"Is there a place to drop this?" She asks, indicating the still trussed and gagged figure drapped over her slim, tanned shoulders.

"Also, be careful with it. It has a nasty gite." She adds.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne just 'Huffs' under her burden of unconscious woman....perhaps indicating that she, Selyne, is not very persuaded by Reonnyns' reasoning.

(^_^) Sorry, I just couldn't resist...

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

To Reonnyns' question Selyne just shrugs under her load of (Um, shall I 'fire-mans' carry the Byatch?)

"The Gnomes have traded all sorts of things with me in the past." She tells the Half-ling. Though her lack of description probably doesn't help.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Listening to Reonnyns' explanation of how his 'Mysterious powers' work, Selyne simply raises an eyebrow, looks at Dao, shrugs, sighs and goes about 'shouldering' the load as best she can. ;) :P

No worries, perfectly understandable. Maybe we really do need another player in the group? ;)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne smiles at Dao's clinical precision. Then quickly, efficiently and methodically begins helping with the stripping and re-tieing of the prisoner. Seeming to treat Calista as no more than any other prize taken from the jungle.

"We should split the things taken from her between Reonnyn and Dao." Selyne suggests as she gags the target. With a slight effort, Selyne lifts Calista over her shoulders into a "fire-mans' carry" position.

"Well, I can't think of a better way to spread the load. Shall we go?" She nods to Bo.

"We shall meet again at the Gnome mound."

Yeah, so with Selyne carrying the unconscious Calista and Reonnyn and Dao carrying all of her equipment (The heavy armor, back pack etc) should we all be at 'Medium encumbered' level?

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne nods and watches closely as Reonnyn indicates the leather straps and their buckles.

"Careful. We don't want it getting loose. I hate having to catch things more than once." Selyne warns Reonnyn.

"Perhaps we should subdue it some more?" Selyne suggests, while looking about for something with which to do the subduing...

"Um, Dao?" Selyne remembers how proficient the other woman is with their hands and feet at taking things down and indicates Dao should hit Calista in the head.

I assume a Monk can K.O a prone target, much like a non-lethal cu-de-gras? (sp?)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne nods to Reonnyn, then actually looks at Calista.

"Hmm, first all this useless stuff has to be removed." Selyne comments absently, pulling out a dagger and begin to try and figure out the best way to cut the stupid metal plates off the woman, with out untying her.

"Do either of yo understand how these things work?" She asks of Dao and Roennyn indicating the various straps and things that hold Calista's armor on.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1
Db3's Narrator wrote:
"Careful there wild-child, the other end of the food-chain can have parasites. You had better hope I'm not still hiding anything deadly."

Selyne cuffs Calista again. "Shut up meat." She says simply.

Db3's Narrator wrote:
"We're wasting time," Bo says as he starts pacing, "and I see two choices. Track this volcano down and determine how much of a threat it is, or warn the city. If I do one, you four must do the other.."

Selyne listens to Reonnyns' words,

"I shall show you to the Gnome hill. As for this?" Selyne dismissively indicates the very securely bound Calista. "We take it with us. Get information out of it and maybe see if the Gnomes can use it." Selyne is casually ignoring the woman as she speaks.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne simply rolls her eyes, partly in annoyance and partly in frustration, at the woman's' banter.

She is prone and fully incapacitated by being tied up, yes?

So she simply back hands her across the face to silence her silly and annoying prattle.

"Enough! You are our prize now. We will take whatever use we can from you and then discard you. Welcome to the other end of the food chain." Selyne stands and begins re-wrapping her mended netting about herself.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1
Db3's Narrator wrote:
"I do just love how you talk about me like I'm some beast, when I'm not as different from you as you might think." The blighter says from her position on the ground, giving up on breaking free this time.

Selyne just raises an eyebrow at the woman's' comment.

"Yes, yes you are different from us. You would have simply killed us if you could." She pauses, "We are thinking carefully about whether we should kill you or not." She stares at the woman. looking at her as if to decide whether she is just some beast or is actually worth being considered a person.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Looking at the captive, Selyne hangs her head.

"Killing for it's own sake...just seems wrong. Killing for food, killing for survival these are the ways of the world. Killing for the sake of killing? These are the things I have seen from those who..come...from...the..." Her voice trails off as she looks from Reonnyn to Dao.

"Simply killing just seems wrong" She mutters.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne continues to 'mend' her net as she listens to Reonnyn. She nods,

"I have traded with the Gnomes in the past. Brought them lots of meat and shiny things I found in the surf in return for things." She looks thoughtful, "So, assuming they didn't consider you a threat? Yes, they probably will trade with you. Hmmm, this whole 'Cooking the Island' does sound bad." She looks to Bo.

"Would shifting the Island to this other realm remove the Volcano?" she asks, then another thought occurs to her,

"What is a city?"

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

At Reonnyns' outburst about the city Selyne ducks her head where she is mending her netting and re-affixing her jewelry.

"Um...I thought I mentioned the Gnome mound..?" She says quietly. Still her mind is pondering the ideas that Bo has further explained about the Volcano being very bad.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

*Holds up hand* I still look in every day. I know Reonnyns' payer still keeps tabs. If the posting has slowed down too much, maybe advertise for some 'fresh blood'?

I haven't walked away from a game yet.

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Selyne looks for the prisoner to Reonnyn,

"What means this word...Volcano...?" Sge looks at their captive and them to Dao, Alya and back to Reonnyn.

"If you have her restrained, I'm going to see about salvaging my stuff from the river." To which Selyne first does make sure their prisoner is being held before standing and sauntering off back towards the river and where the remains of her netting are now scattered, along with most if not all of her equipment.

Any one have the 'mending' spell? ;)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

While the woman reels from Daos' fist to the head Selyne takes the opportunity to wrap more whip about her victim, even as she strides from the water and closes upon the target.

"Once a prey is caught, there is no escape!" She snarl's, getting ready to help continue the pounding of the Elf into submission.

Not sure what skill, other than perhaps Use Rope that will keep the bee-atch down...

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Good to hear.

Att Opportunity:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Dam Att:1d6 ⇒ 3

Str Check:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 (To Entangle)

Looks like she's going t fall down again. =)

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

*winces* I'd rather not let her go at all.....but...that being said, yeah saving the whip trumps all other concerns. As for the Attack of opportunity, I was kind of thinking that might be a given. :) *bows*

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Okay, no worries. Yes the whip not getting damaged is definately in Selynes' interest as it is a very rare and special magical item. :)

Plus, do I also get a potential trip attack as the baddie runs for the forest? Cheers!

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

Ah, magical fire is okay. T'is a spell you see. As for the casting? Meta-magic feats 'Still Spell' and 'Silent Spell' are all she'd need. Of course both push the effective spell level waaay up soooo....It's just the amount of damage to get out of the net, the whip and the rope....

Elf, Ranger: 4, Sorceres: 1

(O.o)

Okay....I really do want to call a time out here.

1 ) The bad guy was being held by being entangled in a large fishing net plus a magical whip of about 15 feet plus any rope others might have used.

2 ) The bad guy was sitting in the shallow part of the river, her head being held above water by Selyne.

So, while the bad guy can cast spells with the appropriate feats, Selynes' reaction to simply 'duck' her should be taken into account, as well as just how deep and 'sitting' the bad guy was. A lot more than just flat footed.

Even assuming she gets out of the net, the whip and the possible rope and starts running. After casting a spell (Okay, colour me stunned and surprised) How is she going to out run an animated whips reach of 15 feet?

Sorry, I'm just very confused at the moment. There seem to be a lot of issues to resolve. *bows*
