I disagree that SR protects anyone else from the effects of Burning Arc.

I realize Burning Arc has a "primary" target and "additional" targets, but there's no rule saying that this creates a special exception to normal spell resistance rules. Does a lightning bolt fail to work against all targets just because the guy in front has spell resistance and succeeds? If you want the rule to make sense visually, you can picture the spell bouncing harmlessly off the BBEG and continuing to cascade.

Yeah, going deeper would be longer term, we probably wouldn't do it immediately. And at that point, Selja would probably exit stage right as I wind down my PbPs. You all have a lot of flexibility on what to do--this campaign is pretty sandboxy.

I think the Magic Circle Against Evil helps mitigate the problem--because they are summoned creatures, the spartoi shouldn't be able to enter the circle. Having our Spartoi turn on us seems risky. But if I drop Magic Circle Against Evil, the Spartoi can't enter that circle, right? Maybe that's a way to mitigate the risk?

GM WotW--Would you object if I revise one of my spells? I want to memorize a second Remove Fear instead of Weapons Against Evil.

As they wind their way through the halls and through the westward path, Selja gives a warning. "There's a hallway with some skeleton guards, only some o' which we dealt with. We could try to trick 'em again with some illusion magic."

I've come to the conclusion that I want to wind down my PbP games. I've done PbPs for a long time and enjoyed them, but I've been struggling with checking in regularly. I want to put down Lord Some of the Pale, and then Selja will retire. Sorry for the impact on this game.

Selja also purchases some Holy Water and silver dust, preparing for a Consecration ritual to bring Lord Soma to his final rest.

Someone with a good ranged attack should take the Bead of Force. That would be not-Selja.

Selja frowns at her loyal companion's situation.

I hate dealing with loot accounting so I am in favor of buying scrolls and getting back to the action!

The Lesser Metamagic Rod of Dazing costs 14,000, but is craftable for 7,000 if you can swing the Craft Rod feat.

To Ivar's point about using found weapons, we've actually been finding specific weapons with magic properties that stack with ABP--I forget if we've been accounting for those. Selja wants to use her glaive while Turante wants to use her Dueling Sword, so it's a bit tricky to use these finds.

For what it's worth, Zeetri can carry around a longspear and get AOOs against enemies that approach him for 1d8 damage. Not saying it's optimal, but it could randomly help.

Not wanting to disturb the temple in the evening (and perhaps having had one too many drinks), Selja decides to spend the evening recovering from their long travels.

It's certainly pretty, if a bit formulaic. As she comes down the stairs, she offers the piece to the bartender. "Please take this, with Shelyn's blessin'."

She finds Moira and Ivar downstairs. "We'll be needin' a lot o clerical magic to deal with the mummy. Come with me to meet Nilos, who leads the local temple o' Shelyn. Even he might not be powerful 'nough ta do it himself, but he might know where we could find it."

Nilos is a made-up person in my background, who our GM appears to have adopted.

"Moira's got a way with dead things," interjects Selja at Ivar's raised eyebrow. Then she takes another long drink from her mug. "Er, not sure I said that quite right."

After getting to know her new companions for a bit, Selja tries to find out who in town might be able to supply the clerical help they're looking for. Diplomacy (gather info): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7. Or maybe she just stumbles around the room for a bit, having had too much to drink.

The half-orc looks between Ivar and Zeetri. "Well, fire's not bad, but acid is better if you can manage that. To really finish the job, we'll be needin' to Consecrate, Hallow, and Dispel Evil from the remains. Most o' that's beyond what I could hope for now--we'll be lookin' for a powerful cleric, or powerful scrolls from a cleric."

"Thanks for the drink!" says Selja, as the pint arrives. She holds it up. "Cheers to new friends and new adventures?"

A tall half-orc woman comes through the door, adorned with an amalgam of human and orcish tattoos, most prominently a rainbow songbird above her decolletage that is readily recognizable as the holy symbol of Shelyn. She sets a heavy-looking breastplate along a wall, followed by the glaive strapped across her back. "Sorry I'm late, it's hard to get out of this thing," she complains.

She's surprised to find her companions with some new company--a powerful Ulfen and a colorful Varisian. "Will you boys buy me a round too?" she asks playfully in a resonant alto. "We sure are needing it."

She glances at Turante and Moira, trying to read the table.
