That night, Sebastion has vivid dreams.
Sebastion stands in an odd stance upon ancient flagstones in an open courtyard. He is in line with other young people in robes. Surrounding him are high, iceclad peaks of some large mountain range. The icy wind blows through the courtyard, cutting through his thin robes. An old, bald man in flowing robes walks down the line of students. He hold s a short baton. As he faces Sebastion, he swings the baton. Sebastion shifts his stance slightly and the baton misses. But the old man reverses, and before Sebastion can move again, the baton smacks painfully into his ribs.

"Wrong! Again." The old man says in a terse voice.
Sebastion resumes his stance, the dream fades...

That morning, when Sebastion awakes, he is left with new memories. He still does not remember anything recent, but he has regained lost abilities.

"Thay attacked me, and if I had tried to kill them, they would both be dead already." Sebastion sneers at Scourge.

At high levels, I somewhat agree, but at low and mid levels, especailly when facing groups of enemies, it is better. Besides, by 9th level you are either casting cures as a swift action or channeling as a swift action. Plus, a dedicated healer cleric will have a phylactery by then so an additional 2d6 healing. Too many times I have seen a frontliner go down because the healer had to choose one target for healing. Finally, it is a great defense for AoEs that target the group as you can negate a bunch of the damage taken.

Or a burst damage against undead. (which can be provided more efficiently in other forms).

Out of combat healing? I think it is far more effective in combat as you can heal all of your allies. And yes, the burst damage to undead is a big plus as well. Add to that the Purifying Channel feat and it is highly effective in combat.

For what it's worth, at level 4 Nivian picks up the healing hex, and probably at Level 9 Healers Hands - so in the long run, she will be a decent enough healer.
Nivian, I have never played a Witch, so apologies for my ignorance on the subject - do you also get access to restoration and status removal stuff?

That's a good point. A cleric is not just cure spells, but the other forms of healing as well. And Channeling is a big part as well.

I agree, if Helgash can cover DD, then a more dedictaed healer to replace Hraak would be preferable.

As for Onnello, I'm less undersatnding. Everyone knew that this first part of the adventure is a grueling period of having to take abuse with no real way to fight back. Several times the GM made a point of how it is impossible for 1st level characters to fight the ship's officers. If Onnello's characetr wouldn't put up with that while waiting for a realistic opportunity, he should never have had that character as his application. His arguing about that last encounter was also a bit annoying. It was pretty obvious to me that the fight was over and Scourge was just RP material. His own actions suggested he was aware that he was starting a new fight.

Wow, a big flurry of posting!

Looking at the list, I think we should let Ioney pick the harder subjects (unfriendly and indifferent) and those of us with a decent Intimidate can work on the low hanging fruit (friendly). After all the friendlies are made helpful, then we can work on any indifferents that Ioney hasn't got to yet. What do you all think?

Day 13: Conchobar

Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 2 = 17
At least I didn't make him worse

Day 14: Conchobar again

Sweet! Makes up for the day before. Two categories, right?

Day 15: Finish up Conchobar
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 = 13
That should move him to helpful I believe.

Day 16: Ratline
SM: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Also two categories, so helpful?

You said up to day 17, not inculding it right? If that's incorrect, I'll do day 17 later.

Day 12 he will do the same.

Sebastion takes his turn, not relishing the climb.

grapple att: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
He easily cathes the rail of the ship. He then ties it off and begins to slide along the rope.
climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
2nd round

climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
RFLX SV: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Lol, of course

Again

climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
RFLX SV: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

climb: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
RFLX SV: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Sebastion has a rough start, but then gets across the divide. However, just as he reaches for the rail, he is hit in the face with a big, rotten cabbage and loses his grip, falling into the water. After making his way back to the jolly boat, he tries again, this time getting across much quicker and reaching safety without falling.

I agree with Helgash, this is not a conversation I want to spend too much time on. I think we just go and take things as they come and wait for there to be an actual issue, though with this group I don't see that as becoming a problem. I am also OK with ABP, especially as it allows for cooler items, most automatically give up the belt, headband, shoulders, neck, and one ring slot for the boring stat, AC, and save items that are covered by ABP.

I think a mix of the propsals is a good idea. We use the even split method, but when certain items that Onnello referred to come up, we make exceptions. I won't be averse to not counting their cost against whoever ends up with them.

Male Human Fighter(Aldori Defender) 1/Monk(Master of Many Styles) 1 AC18, FF14, T14; Init +4; F+6, R+7, W+3; Perc +9; Sense Motive +10; hp-22

I actually like the GM's method, with some clarifcations/caveats. I think that wands, potions, and scrolls (with a few exceptions) should be considered party loot, no matter who holds them. For example, a potion of healing doesn't just benefit the user, but also the casters that now don't have to spend a spell slot to cast the healing. Same goes for most buff potions, scrolls, and wands. As for secondary items, yes they get used, but not often, and it denies gold to those other characters that need it to upgrade their existing weapons and armor. Besides, this is only an issue when we decide to make a loot split where we can sell items. The problem with using the method Onnello suggested is that by mid levels there tends to be a huge disparity in individual equipment. Melee characters have much more expensive equipment on average.

Helgash said, "Take what is useful, sell the rest, save X% for party funds (maybe a ress is needed or something), split the rest giving preference to those who have less."

We are still doing that, but we are making sure that those that need actual gold get their share.

Figures I get the hard work :)

Profession(sailor): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
CON check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

Once per day I can ignore becoming fatigued

Heal checks to help Ioney and Nivian. I'll do three nights in a row.

Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

LOL! Well, at least I got those out of the way before combat.

Sebastion comes up on Helgash and Onnello.
"I see you've made a frined."
He says as he nods toward Lonegan.

Responding to Helgash's comment.
"I don't think we could get away with carrying our swords, I most defintely will not allow them to see I have my family sword back, but everyone is wearing knives of some sort or another. I think we can get away with those."
