Here is Sapiens' Character, an Aasimar Tyrant Antipaladin fiercely convinced that the best way to help people is to enforce order at any cost. You said not to go with Background, Appearance and Personality so they are not here, but I have a good idea of them. In case it didn't filter properly from the questions, her main belief is that people should not have the power to influence decisions they are not fit to take, and that the best governance is one of enlightened dispotism. As for RP samples, here are a few. I don't have much material on evil characters but here are a few RP moments that I have had:
@GM: For the last paragraph, I'm not a native English speaker, so it's quite possible that it came off as more disparaging than intended. For the rest, I'm not sure that the one you suggested is the narrative I was trying to build for Jerome, but there are a few parts that can be adjusted. I'm very busy for a few days, I'll see if I can squeeze in some changes.
GM TWO wrote: Not ... quite sure what you mean by 'I'm not sure whether I want to just have him in the pool or create someone else.' For now I am presuming your character choices are as already established. I just meant I'm likely not going to make characters for the Criminal Mastermind or other roles. I have ideas that are mechanically interesting but not much in terms of fluff.
Alright, I have amended his background so that now he has never been outed as a diabolist, and is currently working as a prosecutor: I had written him changing careers as a reaction to the shifting balance in government. Additionally, I have added a small tie-in to the Conspiracy, with a cameo by the Criminal Mastermind. I'm not sure whether I want to just have him in the pool or create someone else. I have a few builds that I like, but right now I can't see the character to go with them.
So, a few thoughts concerning the above: - I'll amend my backstory to add Androk Jeggare. The details of meeting the other Agents and Abettors look like they would be best added in a Session Zero, once we are selected: in my experience, linked backgrounds lead to some problems for selection.
Spoiler for The Fuller Memorandum: the idea is Iris Carpenter: trusted, effective, excellent manager, and yet a cultist that nobody would have suspected, committing horrible acts because she believes it to be for the best.
Sapiens here, with Jean-François Lemaitre, my 70-years old Evil Lawyer From Hell. Fluff and crunch are up, and I built a law office too, including the staff and a hideout with an escape route. Prepared spells and gear are left undeclared for now, with the exception of the armor.
For what concerns the reason to work together I thought we would have a bit of "session zero". As a lawyer, he may have come into contact with all sorts of people, from any walk of life. Perhaps he could have defended another PC that was accused of sedition, and proved him innocent though discovering that they were actually trying to overthrow the government? Or perhaps the Criminal Mastermind needed some legal assistance for their absolutely legitimate business?
Sapiens here: I was actually referring to Brother Ó Máille. In the end, I went with a meek support/healing cleric who should be kept away from the frontline. You'll find him in this placeholder alias. I briefly considered making a pagan one focused on curses and debuffs, but it would be five centuries too late, I fear. A few mechanical notes:
Ok, being in 1982 also means that Serafina has had more time to process her brother's death.
Sapiens here, in this placeholder account you can find Eat-in-Shadows, a bogeyman Shifter with a penchant for stealth, demoralization and eating the flesh of sentient beings. A few notes on the build: I sort of front-loaded the Dark Sphere by taking three drawbacks. That is because that can be an incredibly versatile sphere in the future, but right now I'm just interested in one standard trick (which is creating areas of dim light or darkness centered on me). I plan on buying back the drawbacks in the future to use the darkness more offensively, but if you think that's too much of a front-load I can cut back on them. If I'm interpreting the rules correctly, Martial Shifter (which moves quick transformation to level 2) should stack with Nocturnal Predator (whose Hidden Transformation counts as quick transformation) by having me move Hidden Transformation to level 2. As well, Martial Shifter does not grant a combat talent progression, therefore I should be able to trade my feats at levels 1, 5, 9, 13 and 17 for a Proficient progression. Again, tell me if this can work. Scent of Fear is made for 3.5 bugbears, but it's literally the only monster feat whose prerequirements I meet. I can tone it down if needed.
BG rolls:
Age: 110 + 4d6 ⇒ 110 + (3, 1, 1, 6) = 121 Height: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6 Weight: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 Sapiens here. Switched from multiclassing gunslinger to multiclassing ranger, but here is a rogue raised by the forest creatures, moved by curiosity and a desire to find the parents who sold her to the fey. I built her for versatility and for being a switch hitter, contributing both in melee and at range as needed. Thank you for your consideration.
Sapiens' submission in this alias (assuming I'm not too late, I dotted earlier). There are a few points that will require some joint work about Spheres Mythic abilities, but otherwise it should be complete. A small question as Spheres wands are permanent items (unlike standard Pathfinder ones, Spheres wands work like a bit like Pathfinder staves) is it ok if I make one intelligent with the Legendary Item path ability?
Sapiens here, in the placeholder is my character's sheet. A couple notes:
1) He has 1 level of Unchained Monk (Scaled Fist), then turned chaotic, thus becoming an Ex-Monk. 2) At the beginning, he'll be completely oblivious about gods (including Yog-Sothoth, his patron) and might even believe himself to be an arcane caster. 3) He's Chaotic Neutral, but not of the kind that will act completely random, drop what he's doing or screw over the party. He'll be defiant against authority (and a bit against moral) when it's opposing his quest for knowledge and experience. 4) As for combat style, until I get better spells it will mostly be going at the enemies and channeling the void, then drawing hits and using the odd Stunning Fist on those not immune. Later levels I'll focus on debuffing and short-range battlefield control. Response to the initial scene: But why am I running? I should be exploring? Oh, I guess I did, and it turned out to be dangerous. But where now... Oh, up. Less likely to be an inescapable trap. A pity that I have to flee, though, there is so much to explore in... what is this place? Oh, another secret to investigate. But there are other priorities. For example, "Yia gwrri nrlha thdd'gwaw!" The dark words of a twisted incantation came clear from Crundin's mouth, shaping a creature out of nothingness. A horrible dog, muscles rippling in anomalous patterns, serpentine scales on his skin, and uneven eyes, coalesced next to the gnome. "Go down, boy, distract the creature!" And again the gnome started running upwards, Wonder and fear alternating in his mind as he ran unfamiliar streets that he still could remember so well...
In this placeholder alias is a still unequipped, but otherwise fully functional medicine doctor. Note 1: he should be Middle-Aged, but age penalty and bonuses would actually give me more convenient scores (at least a 22-point buy). So I ignored them.
Ooook, so I've made a French Amnesiac Psychic. And since few things say Lovecraft as much as being loaded up to the gills with laudanum, I gave him the Psychedelia discipline. He's in the placeholder account. NOTE 1: In real life, drugs are horrible, and he's a drug addict. Should this prove uncomfortable to anyone (GM or party member), I'll easily switch to another discipline. NOTE 2: I grabbed a familiar with the Familiar Bond feat and gave her the Figment archetype, so that she would be a hallucination made quasi-real by psychic powers. This is not 100% legal, as the archetype replaces some abilities that Familiar Bond doesn't give, but those abilities don't come to play until 3rd level, when I plan to take Improved Familiar Bond (which would make it completely kosher). Is it alright?
Sapiens here again, with a rock-solid tank (although heavy armor comes online at level 2, so until then he'll just be a puncher) for your consideration.
Enlisting Questions: - Tell me about your character. Sogreth is a dwarf who has worked his life until now as a craftsman, never considering to put his kineticist abilities to use in combat, as he wasn't much interested in combat. This will change, as his hometown of Kraggodan is currently under siege and he's living in Phaendar for the moment. He has dark brown hair and beard, black eyes and his skin is slightly darker than average, made leathery by the fires of the forge. So far in life he's worked at the forge, found out about his powers by escaping a cave-in, and married a half-elf gemcutter names Mirasol. He loves her more than anything in the world, and will do anything to keep her safe and happy. - What's you character's connection to Phaendar?
- How do you see the character developing?
- What timezone are you in and when do you typically post?

I just lost two hours' worth of background to Paizo's jaws and I'm too tired to rewrite it right now. The crunch is mostly done (missing spells and items) and in this placeholder alias. Also question: the Riftwarden Orphan trait states that the character was raised in Kenabres, but I thought it would fit her better if she grew up in Kyonin. Could I change that bit?
Here (in this temporary alias' profile) is Rakheet the Shrewd, Ratfolk Spheres of Might Unchained Rogue made for alchemy, stealing, disarming, and all the usual skillmonkeying roguish business. The Scoundrel Sphere sounds like so much fun, it's amazing. Here is the "background" part. If these two guys above stands and fights, Rakheet will be the one to hide and exploit the situation.
Against an impossible foe: ...tinker tailor soldier sailor poor man beggar thief tinker tailor soldier sailor poor man beggar thief tinker tailor soldier sailor poor man beggar thief... No, no, no, how can I have got here? I'm not a fighter! I tinker, I make beautiful things, I sell them for more than they are worth! Why am I in a fight? I'm a scoundrel, a thief, a cheat, but I never was a thug, never picked a fight, never won one! Not fair and square, at least! Fightingis out of the question. Running? Hiding? Where? Is there someone to defend me? A hole to crawl into? Oh, yes, Rakheet the coward, the sniveling, the craven, but I'd much rather be Rakheet the alive craven than the dead hero. Thoughts run frantically into the little ratfolk's mind as he sprints away from the danger, hoping that someone else would pick up the fight and slow it down.
Here are all the needed informations for Francois, switched from Swashbuckler to Investigator. He'll be a caster and a skillmonkey, built for scouting, information gathering and buff/debuff. I haven't checked him against the table but I believe him not to be overpowered or narrow (although he mostly depends on Dexterity and Intelligence, I've done my best to make him versatile and eclectic) |
