Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"Sounds like a rising threat that needs to be stopped as much as Whitechin. But how often do they go on these robberies though? Is it every night? We have to be careful lest they notice someone is watching them and alter their habits."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman paces back and forth, deep in thought, and nods at Byron's words.

"We have been forced into a tactical retreat, but we still got our bases covered.
Whitechin and the Bastards are competing for the territory - either way, by removing one of them, we give room for another to grow.
Once we deal with the Bastards, we are not bound by obligations against Whitechin.
Dealing with the Bastards gives us an opportunity to present our work to the authorities. We know Whitechin's lair location and layout. If we find any support from the Dottari, we could give this information to them in exchange for their help in the raid on Whitechin. Vengeance will be ours."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman carefully weighs the bugbear's words, looking for hidden catches.
"So, we help you get the Bastards' territory and we're free? No strings attached?"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

"You mentioned your spies in the Bastard's area of operations. No doubt you have your own attack plan prepared. Do you know any of their weak points? Any tricks we should be on the lookout for?"

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman steps behind Byron and says, trying to make his voice sound calm. "It's over. They overwhelmed us this time, and we can't retreat and leave Jo and Xianae to them. Accepting their terms is a rational thing."
As he says that, he does not let go of his bow and arrow.
Move to G3 and ready an attack vs any hostile approach
Atk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Milani is a goddess of revenge, and that's a dish best served cold...

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

I am still here, good to have you back.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman raises from the ground, rubs his temples and picks up his weapons.

"That was one big bad wolf..."

As Jo rushes over without giving it a second thought, Roman instinctively jerks after him, but stops before reaching the door and draws the bow instead. He still feels weak and has to concentrate to keep his hands from trembling. He uses the moment before the final standoff to aks his goddess for Guidance.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Wow. This dice bot is an epic encounter by itself!
Stabilize check for Roman: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Told ya!
The pool of blood near Roman's head gets bigger by the moment.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

The wolf definitely has a lucky method with those trip rolls. But how did he get an AOO when Roman moved into a threatened square, not out of it?
In the other thread where we play an all-dwarf game, I often roll low when I give a half-hearted description, and when I describe an epic action the rolls seem to support it :)

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Sorry for the delay
Roman storms through the door, jumping over Jo as he crawls out, and attacks the wolf with the precision of Coran's guidance and the power of his wrath!
Atk: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 11
Dmg: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 = 5
Okay my lucky method doesn't work in this thread :D

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman will delay until Xianae moves, hoping that some space in the room will be cleared by then.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

I was asking because the Wrath spells requires me to pick a creature which I can see. I'm not going to shoot this round.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman can still target the wolf past the cover, right?
Seeing the wolf's cowardly attempt to hide, Roman feels a rush of wrath overcoming him.
Casting Wrath, +1 Morale bonus on Atk and Dmg against the wolf for 1 minute.

He puts his bow away and readies a morningstar, prepared to smash it into the wolf's ugly head.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman moves opposite the door, but instead of actually going in, he keeps 5ft distance to the wolf as he shoots him point-blank in the muzzle.
Atk: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 = 19
Dmg: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

If activating the Liberation ability allows Roman to move all the way through the corridor until he's past Moondark, he will do so. Otherwise, he will move to the lower left corner and stay there.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman does not have many options at the moment, so it's likely he'll delay. GM - would the Liberation domain ability (essentially Freedom of Movement) grant me full movement speed in the tight corridor?

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"Don't block the corridor, try luring him out!"

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

As soon as Roman is within 30ft. of the intersection, he will attempt to scan it remotely with the sift cantrip, as he suspects a trap.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (18) + 7 - 5 = 20

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

looks fine

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman shrugs and gets in line without further argument.
Preferably towards the end, as usual.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"Don't rush into that corridor, those buggers might be up to something. Let me or Moondark scout."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Oh, I see. In that case, Roman will delay until after Jo is down the ladder, then descend and fire away at the baddies.
Point Blank Shot, Guidance
Atk1: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 14
Dmg: 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman follows Xianae into the opening, trying to keep quiet.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
He drops onto one knee and draws the bow string, but does not open fire until more people are down there or until the goblins spot them.
Roman will delay his attack until anyone shows intention to engage in melee, then he'll shoot.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"Let me ask my goddess for guidance and then we'll go."
Roman places his palm on his companions' shoulders, mouthing several words under his breath. When it's Jo's turn, the giant's icy stare stays his hand and with a slight cough Roman skips to the next in line.
Xianae has Shield of Faith for 2 minutes and everyone else except Jo has Guidance for 1 minute or until used.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Thanks for taking Roman over GM/LL, and to great effect :) I am going to get back into the game now.

After the exhausting fight Roman opens his waterskin and makes several large gulps. He inspects the bow taken from the goblin archer, but dismisses it with a grimace upon finding out it's too small for him to wield effectively. When he hears Jo's outcry, he runs in his direction, bow ready, stopping roughly 20ft. behind the big man.

We have been exhausted before even facing Whitechin himself. I will ask Milani to aid us in the upcoming fight.
before we engage the next batch of goblins, Roman has up to 3 Shield of Faith to cast on those who engage the enemies in melee. Xianae is the prime target. The spell lasts 2 minutes.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

My posting is going to be sporadic at least until July 23rd due to RL issues. But I'm happy to see you back GM Lictor Lane :)

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Thank the gods it wasn't a natural 1...

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

HP9/13
Roman quickly assesses the situation. Emmett's got spells, but wouldn't risk enlarging JO. Xianae's swarmed. We can't get engage Whitechin because of the grease. Way to place ourselves between a rock and a hard place.
He is distracted from his thoughts by a sharp pain in his leg. Upon noticing the gleeful goblin with a bloodied knife Roman sees red. He drops the bow and attacks with the morningstar, aiming to smash its ugly skull.
Wielding two-handed, Judgement of Justice
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

I'd like to post my action after the baddies take theirs, if that's alright.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman announces that he hears giggling and skittering from behind the double door, right before it is swung open and the fight begins. He deftly avoids the first clumsy blows of the wretched creatures, and calmly steps back southeast. 5-ft. step to J2.
He briefly touches the image of the rose on his chest pocket as he silently prays to his goddess.
Milani, let the justice be served in avenging the victims of these creatures. Swift action - Judgement of Justice
Raising his bow, he releases two arrows at the nearest knife-wielding goblin.
Point blank shot, Rapid shot, Judgement of Justice
Atk1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Dmg1: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Atk2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Dmg2: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

He then drops his bow and draws steel, bracing himself for the goblin onslaught.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman replies in a hushed tone:
"True, but it could also mean it's unwise to barge straight through them."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman assumes position next to the double door, keeping an eye on the front group while listening for any steps from the other side of the double door.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman keeps the rear guard, on the lookout for any threats from behind.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"It looks like the talking wolf we met earlier may have fled here. Perhaps the burrow leads to Whitechin directly? Maybe we better fill it up, to close the escape/ambush route for them."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman shrugs at Byron's wink, then closes his eyes for a moment as his lips move wordlessly. casting Guidance. He then
begins to cautiously approach the burrow. Stealth take 10 = 20 Once he is close enough, he peeks inside. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12, Survival (track): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Using at-will Detect Evil, Detect Chaos

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman stands on his toes to get a better view.
"I wouldn't want whatever's inside to get a jump on us while we're dealing with Whitechin. I think we have to at least check it out."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

I can go scouting or keep the rear guard, as usual. Also requesting a layout of the building, i.e. where are the conservatory and the library relative to the other rooms.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"Now that we eradicated the giant spiders, we should be on the lookout for giant flies", Roman adds with a deadpan face.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman considers Byron's words.
"Well spoken. I agree that the dottari are not our enemies, but as it stands, they won't let us cooperate while the diabolist rule is in effect. They will strike against anyone who threatens to undermine it, willingly or not. So we would do better to avoid them, until the Thrice-Damned House of Thrune position starts crumbling."
Happy to advance. Adventure ahoy!

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"I could only spot a single figure, so I think a boatman was sailing alone. But the sighting was brief; and the twilight haze and reflections could play a trick on my eyes."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"I saw only one passenger manning the adel; but we must be prepared to face additional resistance once we return there."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

thanks!

Byron:

Roman squints as he notices something odd on the river, but he can't quite make out what's going on. He closes his eyes and offers a short prayer to Milani for guidance, and when he opens them again, he can make out a lonely silhouette on a single adel upriver, looking for a place to dock in Rego Cader, not far from the park.
"Someone's heading to the park from the mainland.", he whispers to Byron.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Awww. Can I cast Guidance on myself to get a +1?

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

... with Roman trailing him, trying not to make any sound with the rest of the buckets.
Stealth: Take 10 = 19

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman dons his armor again. "Yeah, I could use some fresh air, I'm tired of sitting in this cave."

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Roman quickly rubs his aching wrist before Xianae follows up with another series of punches. He tries to sidestep it and deliver a hook under her ribs.
Fighting defensively, AC 16
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
"I'm trying, but you are fighting the air, not me!"
Another Xianae's attack is blocked, and as their arms meet, Roman immediately grabs her elbow and twists it, while putting his foot next to Xianae's ankle.
Trip
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
But he underestimates her weight and ends up on the floor himself, panting heavily. "Alright, next time I won't be treating you as a girl!" he teases.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"When I said unarmed, I didn't mean unarmored", Roman thinks to himself, but also abandons his chain shirt and stands opposite Xianae. He invites her to deliver the first strike and dodges it in a twisting motion, retaliating with a swift counterattack. His fighting style is reactive, as he attempts to get into the rhythm of his opponent and then suddenly break it with a grab or trip attempt.
I was thinking it's just for fluff, but we can roll some virtual polyhedrons if you wish :)

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

As Roman is not hurt, he does what he can to assist Mother Mudlumm in cooking and tending to the wounded, but doesn't speak much. He doesn't feel very comfortable in the cramped space filled with smoke from the bonfire and Emmett's pipe, and by the next day he is eager to move on.
"Maybe we should show up at Whitechin's place again and demand our wage for trimming his garden and getting rid of his pests for him." he jests with a wry smile.
"Xianae, I can spar with you, while Jo is recuperating. Do you prefer weapons, or bare fists?"

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

Still here, had a tough week, sorry for the delay. I'll come up with the background details over the weekend, and will try to post something IC too.

Male Human Inquisitor (2)

"I wouldn't be so sure it's spiders' job - they aren't usually known for biting out chunks of flesh..."
Roman gathers his knowledge of poisonous monsters and inspects the wound.
Heal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
He also concentrates to determine where the magical aura is coming from.
casts Detect Magic for 3 rounds, unless interrupted
