Rod held up his glowing sword as he grimaced at the half-orcs. "Good. I could use a challenge for a change." he answered for the helpless victim, before readying his blade as the others charged forward. They needed to be ready for the other orcs should they show up.

Rod decides to try and check on a way to quiet the blazes on the trees. "Anybody got any water magic!? If we don't stop these tree fires, they might set the whole quarter on fire!"

Sorry, last night was unexpectedly busy.

Rod opts to let the orcs come to him, readying his blade for a preemptive strike when they approach as he draws his shield. "You all picked a bad night for this nonsense!"

Move action to draw heavy wooden shield, bring AC up to 19, standard action to ready a longsword attack.

Rod blinked as the first orc took a good chuck for his head with a javelin, before stepping aside swiftly and smirking. "If this is the best these guys have to face us with, we'll have this town cleaned up in no time!"

Clenching his free hand, Rod charged it with pale violet energy, before punching it into the air. The light formed into a ghostly fist, zooming back towards the orc who chucked the spear at him.

Telekinetic Fist on whichever orc threw the spear... unless it's the one Helios and Nirion are after, in which case, I'll cover the other! Targeting touch AC.

Rod grabs his blade and comes closer, casting one of his spells to prepare for possible danger. Shimmering, translucent armor formed over his body, before readying for a possible attack as he approached the door, opening it...

Casting Mage Armor, and opening the front door...

"Sounds like some residents are still in the buildings! We'd better check on 'em, make sure nobody needs getting out! Keep your eyes peeled for anything that got through too... We work our way to the gates and hold the line there!" Rod replied, trying to determine where the closest cries are coming from before heading that way.

"Blast... I knew I should've paid more attention to that water spell! Oh, how did it go..?" Rod mused, before heading towards the well. "Let's try and knock out two in one! Grab some water if you can and let's try to search those buildings for survivors! See if we can't keep the fire from spreading!"

Not sure how long it would take to get a bucket of water from the well, but gonna try that before heading to the nearest burning building to look for survivors.

"...I did not come half-way across Avistan for the likes of you to spit on Rick's memory and insult his sacrifice like this. I'm not your enemy, and the fact you're still breathing is the proof. Longhouse. Now." Rod was done playing around. Rick lost his life protecting this town and these idiots were going to have it go to waste by squabbling like this.

As Bertha spoke, Rod nodded towards her, pointing his shining sword at the group. "She ain't kidding, and you make her mad, I won't stop her. I can only tell you not to poke the angry owlbear. You still poke it, what happens is on you."

"ENOUGH!" Rod yelled, lifting his sword so that the light it emitted would catch the attention of the mob. "Guys, light the beacon... now is not the time for mob justice! Now is the time for organization! We can settle things later, but if you're so eager for a fight, report to the Longhouse in the Upper Quarter for proper weapons! And if you can't, why are you standing here slack-jawed! Get to safety!"

Rod pointed at Baseil and scowled at him. "And you! Baseil! I expect better from a cleric of Abadar, if not from you! I'm no follower, but even I know a self-respecting proponent of the law wouldn't condone street justice! Get off your arse and report to the Longhouse! They're gonna need all the divine backup they can get!"

Probably gonna need some Aid Another to make this work... I've got no bonuses to charisma, so some help would be welcome.

Same here, though I do enjoy getting into a character's shoes!

Rod follows along to the bar and orders a tall mug of mead, leaning into the bar as he trades stories in between drinks. He listened with genuine interest to the others, curious about what brought them all to meet Rodrick. "Gotta give 'em credit, they still build sturdy folks in this part of the world. I guess you have to, though..."

"So how'd you all meet Rick? I actually hail from Magnimar myself. Part of a long trekking caravan. I knew Rick for about two years when we stopped here. My dad wanted to stick around for a while, but I never did figure out why... first time I met him, he was bloodying his nose sticking up for two kids getting bullied. I think. Tossed him a stick and we went to town on those punks. After that, we just kinda stuck together... glad to see he didn't change over the years. Figures he'd bite it standing up for someone else. Wouldn't want him to go out any other way."

"Agreed. Glad to hear Rick didn't bite it with nothing to show for it. Especially now that I can't rub it in his face." Rod replied, folding his arms. "Bertha's got the right idea. When can we pay our respects? I mean, officially. Gotta see him off to the Boneyard right, after all."

Rod sipped politely at his tea while he listened, nodding. "Yeah, I can see why this is a delicate issue." he mused, before looking at Helios and back at Kurst. "Either way, sounds like we should have a chat with Gresendelk and see what he was up to... could be more to it than you've all uncovered."

"Agreed. He deserved a better outcome than this... still, the cause bugs me a little. I'm sure Nirion here knows what I mean. Rick may not have been a saint, but I can't think of a reason anyone would want to kill him..."

The sight of Kurst approaching brought a refreshed smile "Kurst! Good to see ya! Still in good shape~" Rod smirked before pausing and shaking his head. Perhaps a bit more... tact would be appropriate. Plus, Rick wasn't around anymore. Flirting with his sister just wasn't the same without driving him nuts over it.

"Yeah, same here." Rod nodded after Nirion spoke. "I know it's a bit hard, but... could you show us where he is? Or... was, I guess..."

Rod passed by as the guard allowed them in, eyelids lowering in dissatisfaction at his comment before smirking and shrugging. "Hey, could be worse. Could smell like the town guards." he retorted, before leaning over towards Bertha and talking quietly. "Rick might've had poor taste in ale, but his taste in friends was pretty reliable. They give you trouble, you let me know." Not that she looked to need it...

Straightening back up, Rod shook his head as he walked. "Name's Rod, by the by. Always called him Rick, since I already had the first part of his name taken. Gods, it's been ages since I've been back here..."

"Poor Rick..." Rod and Rodrick always found it amusing that the two of them shared a similar name, but it was Rodrick who recommended calling him "Rick" growing up to help distinguish between the two of them. He hadn't seen the guy in years - not since he'd left to join the Society, as a matter of fact! A shame he couldn't come back with some false braggadocio about having gotten ahead of Rick...

As he approached, he heard a few other folks talking about ol' Rick and wondered if they knew about the circumstances. Death was one thing... Bloodmarch wasn't exactly a safe location. But murder? That seemed a bit suspicious. "Hey! You guys here to see about Rick too..?"

Dot!

Grand Lodge

Rod Benteft, wizard 1/fighter 1, CORE.

Grand Lodge

Sounds about right to me!

Grand Lodge

I absolutely could!

Grand Lodge

4 and 4 might be a bit easier space wise... depends on how confident you feel in running two tables.

As for credit... I dunno. I should be cleared for Core only, if that helps, so if you need to divide based on that, should be set for the Core team...

Grand Lodge

To my knowledge, they actually could. One of my first PFS games had seven players. The challenge would be fitting all the players on a single form game... It's a loooooot of posts...

Grand Lodge

Yeah, it would seem the interest has reached it's peak.

So I expect someone to prove me wrong in about 5 minutes. :P

Grand Lodge

Looks right to me! Just sitting on pins and needles in anticipation!

I can bring some healing with a level 3 Cleric (the one I'm posting with). Otherwise, I have a Warpriest 2 and Inquisitor 2 that know how to tap people with heal-y sticks.

Btw...Hey Qiote! This is Vindlér from GM Fez's Teamwork feats game!

Which would you rather bring?
I would like to bring the cleric. She definitely fills the healer role the best of the three, and she’s got some other spells that could really help with crowd control.

Thank goodness. I was considering bringing my cleric to the game since we were lacking some reliable healing. Glad to have ya on board!

Grand Lodge

Looks right to me! Haven't played this campaign, so I'm excited to see how it turns out!

Actually, this reminds me that I have no clue how the leveling will work in a campaign run. Do we level at all during campaign modules for PFS?

Grand Lodge

Count me interested! Still need to finish updating my profile, but I've got a Fighter/Wizard for play!

Oh, geez, I didn't realize we'd started so fast! Okay, lemme try to catch up.

Rod tagged along this mission, seeing it a good opportunity. Water was never something he was particularly good around, but everyone had to get over their... inconveniences at some point. Besides, now that he was an officially seasoned member of the Society, it was his duty to lead the newer recruits on missions!

He lets the others ask the questions, but his eyes continue to rest on Lady Riverbane. Whether it's out of attraction or suspicion is up to debate. Even so, his mind was abuzz with thoughts. Spiders... the most elite members of these river pirates were waylaid by mere spiders? Something's... off. I can't put my finger on it, though...

As the others seem ready to roll out, Rod nods and smiles at Lady Riverbane. "By your lead, milady." he said with a respectful bow.

I've got a character I'd love to submit for this: a kobold cavalier riding a slurk.
LOL, there it is. A concept that pushes the envelope more than mine. Here is my submission - Quylle, a strix zen archer qinggong monk.

I know. X) I want to get the GM's go ahead before writing him out and submitting him, but I've been wanting to try a kobold cavalier for a while. And while looking for images of one, I stumbled across one riding a slurk, and thought, "That... is a tiny dragon... leaping off the walls... on a giant saber-tooth toad. I! Must! Play! This!"

Plus, if we're going for character over mechanics, a kobold knight errant (kobold errant?) is a fun one. He's like a little scaly Batman! He was mocked and bullied for his physical defect, grew up to mount a giant mutant toad, and protect others so they wouldn't go through what he suffered.

Grand Lodge

Understandable, and probably a wise decision. I'm actually thinking a melee-oriented draconic scorerer, so I guess that renders my question moot. XP

I've got plenty of PbP experience under my belt, but sadly, most of the games I manage to snag a spot in always seem to go under. It's definitely a bit of a downer.

Grand Lodge

I think I'm gonna conjure up something for this. I'd really like to actually get on one of these games at last. Let's see what I can concoct...

Quick query: Are archetypes of core classes okay, or would you prefer we stick to the base set?

Grand Lodge

I might be interested!

Do you have a preference on core vs. featured races? (I'm thinking about a kobold alchemist, is why I ask.)

Grand Lodge

Finally, a Jade Regent game! Been looking forward to one for a while!

I actually have a fairly unique character in mind. A Soul Forger/Forgemaster "human" character that may prestige into the Mystic Theurge. I put human in quotations because he's actually, by flavor, a half-dwarf. Mechanically, he functions like a human, but seeing as I'm spending his bonus feat on giving him the Dwarf Racial Heritage, he qualifies for Dwarf feats and stuff too.

As for character, I'll work on the Ten Minute Background to get it more fleshed out, but he's the son of a dwarf dad and a human mom, and although he wants to study the arcane arts, his spell-resistant blood from his dad makes it exceptionally difficult for him to use himself a magic focus. SO he invents a different way to channel his magic: his blacksmithing. Specifically, after his dad tried to teach him how dwarven clerics channeled divine magic, he gets the idea to do the same with arcane energy.

Also, I might be willing to take on the task of running the caravan. Being so involved with a character who focuses on magic, weaponry and the like, it seems fitting to take over the task of managing the caravan as well.

"So you decided to take your anger out on the whole of Absalom?!" Rod snapped at Nessian, apparently unmoved by his tale, true or not. "There is always the choice to use what you know for better, not worse! Summoning the hordes of an undead invasion can't be justified by childhood anger!"

Rod glared him down as he spoke, eyes flaring with passion. "You're talking to the wrong man for sympathy for a painful childhood. But I chose to stand up, tall, and proud, put my skills to better use than petty actions. You've always got the choice, got it? You want respect? Real respect? Rise above that petty behavior! That's for little kids, to want pay back for hurt feelings. Be better than that!"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Rod pulled Nessian along as he opted to take him to the city guard. "Master Yargos, I hope you'll find the Lodge a welcoming home. I'll meet up with you later - I'd like to study with you sometime. But I don't think we can call this mission successful until we take care of him." Rod nodded to the others. "Tell the captains I'll fill my side of the report when I get through with this, will you?"

Rod nods as he grips at Nessian's bound arms. "Agreed. Though, if Absalom's laws are anything like those of Magnimar, I wager he'll not be seeing much of the Puddles, or anywhere else, for quite a while." His eyes drift to Lucrezia as she spoke. "If there is one thing I've learned from my dad, intended or not, it's this: the law can only do so much. The guards aren't champions of justice... merely keepers of order. That's why they need folks like us, to accomplish what they can't. I think, somewhere in between, is the fine balance we gotta shoot for."

Rod turned his gaze back to Yargos, frowning a bit. "What about you, Master Yargos? Do you intend to return to the Puddles district? I'm certain the Society could find use for a historian of your caliber..."

You have any rope so we can keep him from running off?" he asked, shaking his head in Nessian's direction.

Where is it!?" he ordered, looking up at Cade and nodding to her dinosaur. "Nice work! When we get the book, take it to Yargos right away. He can get to work sending the cancellation signal!"

Meanwhile, Rod kept Nessian pinned as he waited for the others to arrive, preferably with some rope to tie up the crime boss.

"...uhhhahahahaha! ..I'm Rod! Rod Benteft! Champion of the Pathfinder Society! And this-- hey!" His speech was interrupted as Nessian sought to get up, leading to Rod's quick thinking to swing his flail at the crime boss' legs and knock him prone.

"Aw, dang it! I had something cool, too! Ah, screw this!" Rod pouted, before diving on top of Nessian and hoping to pin him to the ground. "As I was saying...! This is the part where you give up!"

The Silent Tide is all washed up and your persecution on the poor civilians of the Puddles ends here! You've got two options: you hand over the codebook and come quietly, or we slap manacles on you and drag you in! Your choice!"

Taking a 5 foot step to Nessian and a readied action in case he resists. If he stands up and tries to fight back, I'll use my light flail to try and trip him up. (Improved Trip) Also, I think I'm still under Eloisa's bardic performance? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Drawing my light flail and opening to door to the tower center, if possible. Also stepping inside, if it opens.

I actually came up with a concept for a Kobold Monk recently, who dual archetypes Maneuver Master and Monk of the Four Winds. He challenges his draconic heritage through his fists, rather than his breath like his brethren, and focuses on pulling off as many dirty tricks maneuvers as possible.

And thus began a long and illustrious career of punching enemies in the nuts.

Would a kobold be acceptable for the campaign, though?

"Cripes... so much for stealth!" Rod mutters under his breath, before taking off for the central tower while the dog is away and the two guards are distracted. Gotta get to Nessian before he totters out of his hiding hole. The Puddles doesn't need another snot like him giving them grief.

Rod paused at the door, chuckling to himself a little bit as he tried to get the entry open. "Sweet Shelyn's kisses... I'm starting to sound like dad again."

Taking a double move action to the front door.
