Great playing with all of you! Thanks as always, DM Kludde, for running this game. Rilynn is going on an indefinite leave of absence, but please stop by to say Hello the next time you're on the Idari.

Rilynn is at a loss for words. Being in the presence of the First Seeker in this context is almost disappointing. But here he is.

"Indeed."

But for her, the mission was complete. She intended to take that sabbatical and to live for some time as a foreign citizen of the Idari. Hopefully she could convince her sister to join her.

Rilynn shakes her hands out, then rushes to help Chrysanthemum.

"You did what the rest of us could not, and saved us all. Glad you survived!"

Once the vanguard is stabilized Rilynn joins the others investigating the door behind which she expects to find the object of their quest.

What do you think about our friend there? Should we retreat? There's another room we haven't checked. Jadnura could be there and wasn't able to leave before because this thing was outside. Maybe we are not meant to kill it? We could try to open that door and call him to run. Or check from the outside if there's any window we can use to enter that room.

I think we're meant to go through it. We have to be getting close, and so far our Vanguard has proven to be equally sturdy.

Rilynn cannot believe the thing still lives. This is certainly the most hardy enemy she has ever faced, and she has hunted Ursaur on Castrovel with her father.

Though her supply of magical energies dwindle, she summons another volley of force bolts and sends them unerringly at the monster.

Down to my spell cache and charge spell, then I'm out of cheaters and will have to actually roll to-hit. Hopefully it dies soon.

"Finish it!"

Rilynn knows a good tactic when she sees it, and so she launches another trio of magic missiles at the thing.

"It's tough, but we're winning, I think."

Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 3, 2) + 3 = 9

Rilynn half-expected trouble but she was not prepared for it. For lack of a better action at the ready she aims and fires a trio of magic missiles.

"One door to go."

Rilynn walks forward and opens the golden door.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Physical Science: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 I'm on a roll, I guess. Dicebot will abandon me during combat, no doubt.

"Wow." Rilynn stands in awe of the massive cathedral, struggling to take it all in.

Two of the constellations on the ceiling are recognizable. "Those represent the Pact Worlds and the Veskarium," she points out.

"I would never have imagine such a place here. Now I understand Jadnura's fascination with this place. Dare we venture through those doors?"

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Always up for a challenge when it fits her skillset, Rilynn opens her engineering specialty tool kit and attempts to unlock and open the locked door, because it's there.

Engineering: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 15 + 2 = 36

Mysticism, Aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

"I'm sure I do not see the patterns as well as you do, Velorum, but perhaps I can assist."

Rilynn was also scalded badly, but nothing that a 10 minute rest can't fix.

Rilynn wipes her scorched brow and also picks up a piece of the dead star creature, rolling it in the palm of her hand. "Remarkable."

To Tokno's question she replies, "I could use a breather after that, thanks."

If allowed a short rest she'll use the RP to replenish SP

With the tiny dynamo nearing defeat, Rilynn hit is with one more frozen blast.

Is it possible to touch or pick up the marble pulsar, or is it the mass of a planet?

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

Rilynn rolls and avoids some of the heat but is singed badly. Again she reloads her breath weapon and bathes the tiny star in cold energy.

Rilynn does not appreciate being roasted; it's terrible for her complexion.

She manages to side-step some of the blast, then reloads her breath weapon and hits the tiny nova with another burst of cold.

I know, this party is bananas.

I am consistently disappointed by the Xenoseeker type. So many alien life forms are analyzed with Mysticism instead of Life Science, which makes no sense at all.

It doesn't take a Mystic to realize that something made of fire is vulnerable to cold, and Rilynn readies her reliable and often-worked wyrmling dragon gland to blast the two mini suns with pure cold energy.

Checking the seams on her lashunta tempweave, Rilynn activates her Iredescent Spindle aeon stone and keeps a Life Bubble spell gem handy for triple protection. One cannot be too careful when exposed to the awesome natural trash compactor that is a black hole.

She stay quiet while they walk. The visuals are incredible - exactly why she signed up for Starfinders, but her thoughts are elsewhere. Then in the distance, two lights combust with sentient temperament.

"Fascinating."

As much as the sight of a black hole appealed to her curiosity, Rilynn would have preferred to stay on the Idari. She decides that after this mission she'll put in a vacation request and spec some time there. A few months at least. The rogue solarian did nothing to dampen her enthusiasm for the incredible colony ship.

The voyage feels routine, and Rilynn makes use of her time by organizing her thoughts about her future. Before they left she received a message from her sister Chiaiese, who was nearly killed during a mission investigating Azlanti incursions into various systems. The idea the Azlanti may be very much active and prepping for some kind of big come back was provocative. But Rilynn also worried for her big sis and being apart this long was uncomfortable. But there was nothing to do about it until Chiaiese finished her mission.

Rilynn takes in the spectacular view with the captain and crew. Nature in all its terrible glory helped her melancholy mood.

"Yes, captain. No time like the present."

Rilynn closes one eye and grips the pistol tightly in both hands, arms straight and steady. Then there's a bright flash and a wave of heat from the rogue solarian.

She shoots the same rock in the distance, affecting combat not at all.

As the Kasathan agitator is beyond reasoning, Rilynn draws her pistol and tries to shoot over its head.

"I'm terrible with this thing."

Rilynn advances alongside her teammates, hands empty.

2x Move.

"You know, you're right. The Starfinders do suck about half the time. We end up killing all sorts of people who would otherwise be alive if only they had not crossed paths with us. We can't bring your parents back, but how about a formal apology by the Seeker, and some sort of reparations for your loss? Alternatively," Rilynn continues, "I can recommend several good law firms who would advance your grievances at the prospect of lucrative financial damages. You can use that money to harass us in ways that do not put your life in jeopardy."

fwiw, I'm not effective at pulling punches.

Rilynn maintains her nonthreatening demeanor, hands folded and smiling. She wonders at what Jadnura may have done to arouse such emotions.

"We're Starfinders, and we're here to help."

What a pretentious bore, Rilynn thinks to herself. But she again smiles pleasantly and thanks the monk for his cooperation.

Rilynn smiles politely.

Rilynn was merely offering counterpoint in the spirit of friendly debate, and not in a combative style. She likes Alsuka.

"Thank you, Alsuka. I look forward to our next meeting. I'll make sure to convey to Lady Kesh that an excellent representative of our home world is brewing exquisite tea on Idari."

The monastery is missing all of Alsuka's charm.

"Whose society do you speak for?" Rilynn asks of Alsuka. "As I observe this incredible starship, I see how the native Kasathans have imposed their characteristic self-discipline to all areas. One could hardly imagine warring factions among them. And yet, so many of them are solarians that we do not distinguish between the species and the supernatural powers associated with the martial form. To your point, I would counter that what constitutes a 'warrior' is defined by society, and is not standardized."

Rilynn is fully immersed in the tea and is a little smitten with Aluska. She's clear-headed enough to know that what Aluska says about customs is as much a test of the groups diplomatic chops as an act of protocol.

The damaya listens to her host and colleagues intently and waits for her turn to answer.

"I joined the Dataphiles out of reverence for the sanctity of information. As you are equally aware, Aluska, among the corporatist factions on Castrovel, she who controls the information narrative controls the planet. My parents are part of Lady Kesh' inner circle, although they are retired and no longer active in their former duties, but for me that offered a playground of intrigue, and as a young girl I was enthralled by how all the important people in my life were constantly maneuvering, politically and otherwise. To have one's finger on the pulse of the information flow was paramount. Anyway, Dataphiles is a natural fit for me."

There's more to her story, but nobody gets to know it.

Rilynn is positively enchanted with Alsuka, with whom she stands eye-to-eye, and embraces her as if her fellow damaya was family. She happily receives a cup of tea and savors the complex flavor.

"This reminds be of an herbal concoction we used to drink at home," she says, meaning Castrovel. "My mother knew a spiritualist that harvested various conifer leaves from the northern forests during winter. She made a sublime tea not unlike this."

Her teammates have made their intentions known; Rilynn has no need to press further on the matter until Alsuka responds.

Growing up in a family that included a diplomat and a Colonel in the star navy of Lady Kesh, Rilynn heard many stories of the Idari. Before she was born her parents were dispatched as part of a diplomatic envoy to speak to the Kasathans regarding trade complications with the various competitive Corporatist factions on Castrovel.

She had passed the days in spaceflight fantasizing about the Outland Markets - the quixotic menagerie of races and cultures and exotic wares.

This was a fantasy that held up rather well in the face of reality. Rilynn was tempted to turn in her stars and take up residence simply to indulge in the orgy of capitalism. Though she had no immediate want for equipment, there was always the rare piece of jewelry or clothing that might catch her eye.

While they meander the Markets, Rilynn considers what she may remember of influential Kasathans on Idari, specifically solarians who might connect the team with Jadnura.

After politely nibbling on a long green thing for a moment, she nods a greeting to Rilynn. "I am pleased to see you again so soon, friend Rilynn. I hope there are fewer crazy Hellknights in Idari."

Rilynn smiles at Chrys. "I've only heard stories of the Idari but I expect a lot less crazy from our Kasathan hosts. Honestly, I'm looking forward to this mission - hopefully our greatest challenge will simply be showing Jadnura the reasonable path."

She nods to each new teammate in turn, pausing at Khubelu. She replies telepathically. My sister has been working with a Stellifera against an Azlanti insurrection. It is a unique pleasure to work with you.

Kasathan cuisine... Rilynn watches their host devour a sampling of the spread in the center of the table. She nibbles, avoiding the sauces to the extent possible without appearing to be avoiding the sauces.

"Meditate on the future of the Society," she repeats. "I can't help but agree with the various forces exploiting the cracks here. The First Seeker undoubtedly has clout, but let's be real, if his meditation were to result in a decision contrary to the active missions of the organization we would have a civil war within the Starfinders. This is a grave situation, Eshki. Thank you for calling us together to take action. I am Rilynn Rae with the Dataphiles faction."

She thinks on a question and then asks, "Why go to the Idari? Certainly the Kasathans are generally agnostic toward our organizational goals, irrespective of Jadnura being one of them. He could have easily rented a suite somewhere here on Absalom Station."

After our latest little adventure Rilynn is also level 4 and she has not yet played Truth of the Seeker. Definitely interested!

The team is left with more questions than answers, but at least the Curators have offered something truly valuable for their efforts.

She looks forward to an uneventful ride back to Absalom, sans Hell Knights, which will be an improvement. And given the result of the encounter, she decides against a further questioning of Iteration-177. He's sure to give them nothing useful and anyway his dick-shaped ship is really nice.

"Hey Burn, how about a drink?"

Once the last hell knight falls, Rilynn gives Burnham a thumbs-up, then steps back to allow the fires to be extinguished.

"Let's see if these Hell Knights carried any correspondence or other evidence as to how they managed to gain entry on Iteration-177's ship," she says once the library is secure.
