Male Human Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 5
HP: 39/39, AC: 22 Following up with that, Riley darts around to add his own strike to the creature. Fighting Defensively, Acrobatics to avoid any AoOs that need be avoided to set up for another potential flank, then attack Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23 Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

"Time to put my training to use," the young Taldan can't quite resist quipping before his blade lashes out with unreal speed, going for ten, twenty blows, none heavy enough to hurt severly on its' own but likely to add up. Full attack, fighting defensively. Defensive Parry adds to AC, so touch AC is 22. Flanking as well. Attack 1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26
Attack 2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Riley skips around the edge of the crowd, drawing his sword as he passes by one of the shadows in a wide arc designed more to ward off the creature as to be a fully effective strike, spinning around to bring up his guard at the last moment as well. Move action to, well, move. Drawing is a free (Quick Draw) and no mage armor. Fighting Defensively, though. So AC this round is 21 against touch attacks. Init: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Riley's interpretation: Find out if there are any immediate problems, evaluate, and act if there's likely to be a disruption. Only use force if doing so would be quieter or there is no other option that ensures the safety of the guests (ex. Treerazer's looking to hobnob with Absalom's elite.)

Riley gives Lord Rothos a bow of respect. "Riley Tralgador. Any title has long since lost relevance." With that, the Senator and, in particular, his rapier catches the young warrior's eye. There are three broad reasons for bearing a weapon like that. The first is that it's for decoration, a sword that isn't serious or meant for killing, indicating an ego beyond the stars. The second, the jewelry is a disguise. This could hint at some hidden skill. The last would be enchantment - the realm of the serious duelist. Briefly, Riley wonders which and gives the blade a closer look... Perception to determine the quality of the blade. Lacking a discreet way to Detect Magic, presumably this will only reveal whether the weapon is Masterwork or if it's just got some fancy decorations to up the value: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Riley chuckles slightly. "I must have been away for far longer than I realized, for my accent to have changed without realizing it." he jokes. "No, I was born in the Brelands, although I became involved with the Pathfinders after completing my training. There were certain . . . incidents with the nobles and it seemed prudent to take up other interests. I went to the East to try to document their fighting styles...perhaps ten years ago. It must be understood that instruction does not come at a price that can be paid merely in coin. I was required to learn more than swordplay. And, of course, I also had to assist in whatever insane endeavor the lord I served under wished of me, although luckily it was never as bad as it could have been. At the end, when the work was finished, we were able to part ways amicably enough, and I had integrated many of their techniques into my own." He holds up the sword. "As to this, you have a good eye my lord. But you can be forgiven for not being . . . quite correct. If I may?" Assuming he gets permission, he unsheathes the weapon a few inches, revealing that, while the weight and balance of the weapon are those of the Aldori blade, there is a distinctive forge-line to set it apart. "The swordsmith who made this blade for me was most accomodating, since my original was broken and reforged beyond the point of repair. Truly a masterpiece, and it continues to serve me as well as my first blade. Perhaps better." Presuming I need another diplomacy check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

"I fear that it would be nothing you would be familiar with," Riley says. "I spent much time in the lands of the Dragon Empires, far distant from here. But with a quick history lesson you might be able to understand some of the conflicts I took my small part in with my . . . instructors." If permitted, Riley quickly goes into a quick discussion of the various minor noble houses of a recent war in Minkai, along with the battles - mostly urban - resulting. Lacking Knowledge Geography, going to try to sub in History. If you'll allow, impose any degree of penalty you want. Knowledge (History): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

Riley chooses to approach Lord Rothose with the air of a man out of his own element at this party - while his dress may be unusual, it's that of a warrior. "This certainly seems to be a lovely party. Although I must admit I do not miss attending such occasions regularly." Although he tries to seem casual, his eyes dart about to indicate remaining aware of the situation just in case... Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Riley gives a little bow. "Lord Rothose. Understood M'lady, I will attempt to consult with him." The only changes that have been made to his attire that is visible at first is the replacement of his hakama with one that has considerably less wear, and a very nice looking scabbard with etched gold dragons for his sword. It's only on a second look that one might realize the Tian robe is pure silk with a simple leaf pattern woven into it.

Riley Tralgador's always been considered an odd one. Hailing from Taldor originally, his very first mission for the Pathfinder Society was to compile a primer on basic swordsmanship techniques. He promptly decided that, while he was familiar with Avistani and Garundi schools of thought, he hadn't experienced any fights with the Tien. He promptly got on a ship to go pick a few. When he came back, he was (mostly) affecting the mannerisms of a samurai, a habit that continues to this day. Although he isn't fooling anyone. Hence, when ordered to show up in his Sunday best, a kimono is the choice he makes, although his sword is at his hip in a fine sheath. He wears his hair loose and down to his shoulders, somewhat sun-bleached from long hours of practice outdoors. "I believe that this can be done," is all he says.

Riley just sits quietly off in the corner. His nice outfit is completely ruined by the flames, althoguh he appears mostly unburnt, and what little movement he engages in is very stiff and uneven. But he does bow to Amara as he takes his leave...and once they reappear in the Grand Lodge the man falls to his knees in prayer to a rapid succession of dieties - in increasing orders of awfulness - for his survival.
Male Human Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 5
Whereas Riley functions almost as a tank in spite of the fact that the man foolishly refuses to wear armor, since he can get his AC up into the 27/28 range while still having a reasonable chance to hit most things at his CR. As to my ability score, I should think that would be obvious - Dex all the way! And thanks for the run from me as well! EDIT: Oh, right, Day Job. Well, got a Perform skill for that Duelist level, may as well use it. Perform (Oratory): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 EDIT EDIT: OH!!!! Right, almost forgot. Can you put me down for the 2 PP to purchase a Jade Wayfinder before it becomes illegal?

All right, I presume that being resistant to the damage doesn't make Riley any less...well, on fire. Also presuming he's just grappled, or even pinned (It shouldn't be possible to render helpless in one round) Riley's going to try to spread the love (and the flames) with a Dirty Trick maneuver. If that's not possible, still going to try to break the pin. CMB: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Male Human Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 5
AC: 23/24 if only adjacent to a single foe, HP: 28/39, Mage Armor Riley seems to have either not noticed or, more likely, failed to care that he's been turned into a human torch. Instead, he charges straight at the saboteur, sword flashing in a technique that is maybe a shade too fancy for his skill level at this point to divest him of his dagger. AoO provoked - Disarming Strike (Disarm attempt, if successful deal normal damage minus Strength. Rather than argue the point, I'm going to say that this means losing dex to damage instead. Disarm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Male Human Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 5
[b]AC: 24/25 if only adjacent to a single foe, HP: 34/39, Mage Armor Riley's blade lashes out again, seemingly ignoring the obvious effect the poisoned blade had on him for a few moments, the blade inching into his assailant's neck for a potentially fatal strike. Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
To be completely honest, I need a flowchart to figure out the poison rules even without the Slow Poison spell in play - for the moment, can we just accept 1 dex damage (and thus no ill effects) and worry about that in a day or three when the combat is over and the spell is wearing off?

AC: 24/25 if only adjacent to a single foe, HP: 38/39, Mage Armor
Riley winces as a slight burning sensation starts going through his veins. "Poison!" he tries out in warning, although he turns his blade on his assailant once more. Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Reduce if he takes Dex damage, obviously
Male Human Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 5
AC: 24/25 if only adjacent to a single foe, HP: 39/39, Mage Armor Riley easily parries the blow sent back against him, using the momentum from that to spin around and deliver another strike. Full Attack. Had been forgetting my Ring of Protection some rounds, I think. Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Male Human Fighter (Aldori Swordlord) 5
AC: 22/23 if only adjacent to a single foe, HP: 39/39, Mage Armor "This is legitimately turning into something ridiculous. There is no call to destroy an abandoned building for this purpose." However, he quickly charges in to slice into one of the invaders... Move/attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Critical confirm: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

Argh! Life interfereing past few days. Let me see if I've got this basically straight - officer is down, and someone decided to use the fire-spread rules that assume the world is made of a mixture of thermite paint, magnesium, and flash paper again. There are some invaders left outside who might be rushed at? If yes, just send me twoards them - I can't see the maps from here, and won't be at a computer where I can until morning at the earliest.
