Red remains 10 feet away, stinger at the ready.

NG Medium Red Dragon 2| HP: 17/17 | AC: 20 T: 12 FF: 18 | Fort: +5 | Ref: +5 | Will: +4 | Perc: +6 | Init: +2| Day idk/7

Red snarls as he approaches the gnoll. When he gets within 10 feet he raises his stingered tail above the thing and stops.

draconic:
"Samuel, just say when you want no more of this evil dog of Rovagug"

Red sails in scattering the vultures again. He gets his dinner from the gnoll carcasses and leaves much to still be consumed. He telepathically says to everyone These taste nasty. Filling, though. Why is the prisoner so far away? You talking secrets? Oh, and nothing approaches, Samuel."

Red follows his master's commands. As he flies through the area the vultures all scramble to get as far away from him as possible. At least for the moment. Red swings between the trees, gains altitude and makes a few circles.

Red slaps his tail at the gnoll before flying way east.

Samuel, you used the term leeway. Did you know that is sailing lingo? There are many common sayings that are sailing based. For example the bitter end. Well, those sailing brits called the metal things the anchor was tied to bits. So, there you have the end of your rope that should be tied to the bits. The bitter end. And yes, once I tossed an anchor without tying off the bitter end. Whew. Got to it just in time. There are many terms like that you would never know unless you were a sailor.

@GM FYI, I have 10 ft of reach with my tail.

I am assuming that the red bordered opponents are the ones dead or damaged by the fireball?

Last encounter I learned that the red border indicates a dead enemy.

I am going to hold my action technically but do not believe that will be needed based on the range of the enemies.

Unable to keep up by hoofing it, Red takes to the air just above the ground 5 feet in front of and to the left of Samuel.

No fly check with +15 fly

Red telepathically tells the fox Maybe you can chase me later. He walks over to Samuel and takes his place one step in front and to the left of his master.

Red prances over to Swiper and telepathically says "Samuel told me you are not food. Want to play?"

And that is so out of line with the ranged increments especially of the heavy crossbow at 120 ft increments. You can apparently aim at a target with range of 1200 ft at -20 and -10 at 600 feet. Perception at 600 feet is -60. There is a large variance between -60 and -10. Seeing something and hitting something is very different. Seeing should be easier, not exponentially more difficult than hitting it with a ranged weapon. IRL I know I can identify an individual at 600 feet.

Samuel told me to stay above 1200 feet while doing lookout. It will take me 4 minutes to get to that altitude and 1 minute to return. That would place me at 1200 feet out and 1200 up. I found a line of sight calculator online and I should be able to see out to about 24 miles. Of course, I cannot see a medium sized creature at that range. Going from what I can see on long stretches of interstate I am thinking 3-5 miles??? IDK thoughts? Rulings?

The heat from the morning sun creates loft for the red dragon and flight becomes near effortless. Red suddenly breaks his circular pattern. He pulls his wings in tight and dive bombs toward something to the northwest. When his altitude is low enough you can no longer see him. The dragon reappears flapping its wings with something in its claws. It drops its cargo from an altitude of 500 feet not far from you. A fawn is laid out in the sand. Red lands and begins his breakfast. "Samuel, would you like some?" He looks at Radi's head poking out of the sand. "Are you sharing that one?" The dragon rips pieces off of the fawn's carcass and swallows them.

The dragon snorts in response as a billow of smoke escapes his snout. He takes to the sky heading for 1,500 feet in ever widening circles.
