Thank you, GM Lari! It was fun!

Yup! Please un-core us!

Do we roleplay our escape? Or is that the end of the adventure?

BTW, I can't access the Rataji character you sent me so I only -think- I've accomplished my goals. :-)

Spellcraft & Herosim: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 15 + 2 = 28
Will save & Herosim: 1d20 + 9 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 - 4 + 2 = 10

Shirt Reroll!

Will save & Herosim: 1d20 + 9 - 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 - 4 + 2 = 24 Huzzah! Oh man, I thought I was a goner.

"You fascinate me, sir," says Rataji, clearly ambivalent about killing this man. Nonetheless, he lets fly with magic missiles.

Magic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 1, 2) + 3 = 10

I'm almost down to throwing pebbles at this guy. Anybody want to be telekinetically thrown at him?

Can Rataji tell if Zey is protected by a shield spell? Would it take an action to analyze?

"I would not wish to bore so great a mage," says Rataji. "I have too much respect for your craft. Perhaps you will find this to be more exciting, Master Zey." Bolts of fire flash from his hands back at the real Aram Zey.

In case of Spell Resistance:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Scorching Ray and heroism: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 21 <--vs. Touch AC
Scorching Ray and heroism: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 9 <--vs. Touch AC

Damage, 1st bolt: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 3) = 13
Damage, 2nd bolt: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 5) = 18

Rataji flies into the room, invisible and loaded for bear. He sees what's in the room and considers how to relay the information. He flies invisibly to Marnarius and whispers.

Marnarius:
"It's Rataji. Zey's an in illusion. The real one is behind you above the door."

Rataji then waits.

GM:
Readied action to dispel anything Aram Zey casts. Spellcraft: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16 Fork!

Yeah. Who's in first? Rataji, being squishy, is going in later.

Rataji casts the following spells on himself:

  • Herosim (70 minutes)
  • See invisibility (70 minutes)
  • Invisibility (7 minutes)
  • Fly (7 minutes)
  • Shield (7 minutes)

Then, just before the door opens, he casts displacement (7 rounds).

"This is it, my friends. Beyond this door lies fame, fortune, success and Gold Agent badges for all of. When we do what we have come to do, we will be legends!"

Ditto. Rataji has something to prove!

"Aram Zey? He's not likely to stay on my leash long if I put him on one. Yes, it's a shame that so great a mind should be silenced, but I can see it must be done for the good of the Consortium."

"Welcome," says Rataji. "We are ready for you to add your strength to ours and crush the do-gooding Pathfinders like the endless pests they are."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 Gah.

Rataji smiles. "Hilarious! I love slapstick, don't you?"

Cast hideous laughter on the gunslinger (DC 18 Will save negates).

Rataji grunts in pain as he is shot twice at close range. He manages to stay on his feet and grunts out "Don't target the confused until they fight each other! They'll lock in on the first person to attack them! Make sure it's one of their own!"

Spellcraft (examining the library): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23

Rataji moves to scoop up the Caustic Staff, but permits 322 to take it with good grace. It will be worth it if she uses it to keep us alive, he thinks. I can always charm her out of it later when we're alone.

Perception to overhear conversation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
_______________________________________________________

Upon spotting what must be the Hao Jin Tapestry, Rataji smiles amiably.

"My friends, my friends," says Rataji. "This is no time for quarrels. Especially not when we could all be friends. But really, there are so many of you... wouldn't it be better if red down sparkle walrus?"

Cast confusion. Will save (DC 20) negates.

I'll be away until late Friday or Saturday. On travel with limited Internet.

PING!

Ray of Frost touch attack, cover, firing into melee, haste: 1d20 + 4 - 4 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 4 - 4 + 1 = 151d3 ⇒ 1

Rataji feels that he needs to preserve his remaining more powerful spells and so lets fly with a minor blast of ice.

Having lit off haste and lightning bolt, Rataji decides to preserve his remaining heavy punches for another fight. He casts a simple yet destructive spell, invoking wicked cyan darts of arcane force.

Magic missile against green lizard: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4, 4, 1) + 4 = 17

I'm not clear on whether Rataji did unleash the lightning bolt, or may now do so.

"Let them come," says Rataji. "When they are lined up, I will hit them all with lightning."

Let's let at least three of the four get into the hallway. Then I'll want to step up to the front line and unleash a lightning bolt

Rataji bides his time.

Delay

So many spells, so few I want to waste on these dumb beasts...

Rataji's arcane words stir fire in his allies' veins, quickening their reflexes.

Cast haste. Then step back.

Rataji falls back slightly and unleashes a hail of eldritch arrows that scream across the battlefield, wending their way past friends and allies to bury themselves in lizard flesh.

Magic missile at the purple lizard: 4d4 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 4) + 4 = 13

Rataji intones a few words of mystic doggerel, unlocking one of the spells coiled within his memory. He appears to shout, but makes no audible sound.

Please move Rataji up to just behind Marnarius. I can't move the token.

Cast ear-piercing scream on the southernmost of the "lounging lizards". Daze 1 round and 3d6 damage. DC 16 Fort save negates the daze and half the damage.

Sonic damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) = 11

Rataji continues to move among his fellows to see if any of them need help.

He's a nice guy... Just evil. ;-)

I'm here. I check in at least once per day, usually more.

GM Lari:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Rataji has any goals during this part of the adventure.

Rataji casually moves through the crowd, smiling and chatting with "his fellow Pathfinders", managing to chat with most of his Aspis crew. "Do you have what you need, brother? Do you need my help?"

I still don't have a computer. Doing this on my iPad has been a challenge. I'm going to get a new computer in a week. I'll do my best to keep my hand in until then.

I'm going to beg off this scene, at least. Hopefully I can be more active in the next.

Hey, gang. My computer has died. I still have my iPad and occasional access to a laptop (like now), but it's going to be slow going until I manage to fix or replace the computer. I'll do my best to keep up, but please pay through if necessary.

Rataji heads for Skyreach and tries to learn as much about the guard situation as possible.

Skyreach:

Rataji cheerfully chats with the Skyreach guards about the festival.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

"Marnarius claimed it. It's his. Let's go."

We go!

Rataji speaks up. "Killing Pathfinders isn't our goal. We have some very specific goals we need to reach. Please have a seat and I'll go over them."

"First, we are the tip of the spear for a massive attack on the Pathfinder Lodge, but the entire attack is merely a distraction for what this team is going to accomplish."

"We're going to steal an ancient artifact called the Sky Key. First, we're going to mingle with the Pathfinders who'll be having a party. Second, when their 'Master of Swords' starts his speech, we're going to infiltrate the supposedly most impregnable part of their fortress, called Skyreach."

"Third, we're going into a basement of part of Skyreach called the Antaricus Wing. There, we find notes on how to open the Hao Jin Tapestry. Fourth, we get to the Tapestry itsefl Our ritual will only let one person in, so that person has to get in, find our allies in the Tapestry and then release them."

"Fifth, once our allies are flooding into Skyreach, the real work begins. We go upstairs to a small museum where the Society is keeping the Sky Key. We secure that, get it to the Extraction Team and exit. In case something happens to me, you'll know the Extraction Team by the code phrase 'Five Fingers to Oathday'."

"Any questions? Too bad!" says Rataji with an easy laugh. "Because that's all I've got. Anything else will have to wait until we find it out together."

"Now, I'd like to introduce ourselves and discuss our capabilities. For one thing, we need to pick our Tapestry infiltrator. I myself am an enchanter. I'm good at making magically-cooperative friends, so let's try not to slaughter our way in or out if we don't have to. Our goal is the Sky Key, pure and simple."

"Who's next?"

Rataji, checking in.
