#50 Vault of the Iron Overlord by Monte Cook and Soren Keis Thustrup.

It has a great moving map (I recommend picking up a print copy).

A big THANK YOU to Paizo (and Vic Wertz for fielding this thread)

Rite Publishing just submitted its application. We have up to now only produced product under the Arcana Evolved Limited Licence, but we had a new line that was going to be just OGL.

I very much look forward for a chance to make it compatable with The Pathfinder Role Playing Game.

(Just that one line all the other lines remain exlusiviely AE per our limited license).

Thanks again, for the opportunity

Which reminds me (thread jack)

Rite Publishing is always looking for a few good reviewers :)

as we have 5 products that don't have reviews up on rpgdrivethru/rpgnow (they are reviewed elsewhere but I would like to get them up there).

So I would provide a free copy via rpgdrivethru/rpgnow, and you would post your review there (stating you received a review copy of the product).

I would prefer to read a review you have posted of another product elsewhere.

I can be contacted at stevendrussell (at) ritepublishing (dot) com

End thread jack.

I do not think it appropriate for me to give an opinion on the quality of WotBS since I am doing The Rituals of Choice Adventure Path, I read them while doing research on what designer's do right and wrong when producing an adventure path, and hindsight is 20/20.

No, they are just providing review copies to reviewers which is pretty standard for a small press, as an even smaller press myself, I simply request state at the beginning of the review that they received a review copy.

The reason is, if you have a small group of dedicated customers its harder to find someone with the free time to do a review. If you do find someone willing to do a relevant review, you will give him a review copy because reviews are worth their weight in gold.

They probably should have said "we are looking for a few good reviewers" not a few good reviews.

Except unlike reloaded, I have no input on the design, this is more like Open Design, and the regular price for reloaded was $74.99 as a pdf.

I am so there.

Its going to let me do a improve dungeon delve, especially when my players go left when I thought they would go right.

As someone asked earlier, elsewhere on the forum, the public release of Heroes of the Jade Oath is scheduled for August 1st (it will however be the exact same price as a standard patronage, and with the standard patronage you get an exclusive bonus adventure).

Thank you for the kind words.

Our Goal for Heroes of the Jade Oath for public release is August 1st, but it will be the exact same price as the cost of a standard patronage, this was how I was able to justify it not being exclusive content (though patrons do get an exclusive bonus adventure).

I am doing updates on the Paizo boards HERE

Thanks!

Beyond that I like the idea of not calling someone by their class but having their title allude to it,

Nice list.

This single thread will talk about what Rite Publishing, rather than cluttering the board with our most current project. I will attempt to always keep the first page up to date with our most current news and projects (we are not available, at the Paizo store yet, but we are a scrappy company and hope to be someday).

Our newest release is now available Items Evolved Races and Classes

The Rituals of Choice Adventure Path

I use skype with Maptool

I did not find it available at noble knight games you might email them and ask them to keep an eye out, if you want a print copy of the book.

There is a Dire Animal template as OGL

Tome of Horrors Dire Animals is a free PDF by Scott Greene of Necromancer games HERE

I am looking to run one last playtest of A Witch's Choice (3.5 or AE does not matter). We have run two, but we have done some major overhauling, including the introduction of a new patron designed encounter, and none of our patrons are currently available.

If you would be interested in running this adventure before March 2nd, please contact me here via the thread, on The Rite Forums, or email me at Stevendrussell (at) ritepublishing (dot) com

You will receive a free full color pdf copy of the adventure and the option to purchase it at cost as a print on demand (both B&W and full color), along with inclusion in the credits of both you as the GM and your group.

For those who don't know what I am talking about here is a Teaser.

Cover Art by Ryan Barger (Dungeon Magazine, Adventurer's Vault)

Interior Art by Eric Lofgren (Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved, Ptolus)

Cartography by Jonathan Roberts (Wrath of the River King, The Living Airship)

Or I could just pay Torstan to make mine for me :)

I recall a article in dragon magazine that discussed the wuxia genre of martial arts films, does anyone remember the issue # of this Dragon Magazine?

I don't agree with your assessment of the gold dragon, acting indifferent and comparing men to mice, since mice can't come and ask the man for help.

I would find it more likely that the dragon would read of a laundry list of things it was doing to help, but with a much longer view on improving the world that one kingdom did not matter,

Gold Dragon: Sigh, youngling, I have given you a crankshaft driven chain water pump and a bridge mill just 80 years ago, so that your people will not go hungry, and educated most of your teachers so that all of your kingdom read and write the same language (who do you think spread the common tongue?) I even gave you an analog computer which would have advanced you civilization a thousand years within your life time and your church destroyed it as heresy. I did help you and your kind, but the amount of good you can accomplish has reached its limit, because you forsaken me, no tyranny lasts forever perhaps the next enlightened kingdom will heed my wisdom.

Al-Qadim was very big about characters being judged by their deeds not by their racial ancestry, since the whole area was dominated primarily by an overarching mystical belief system, and one goverment, their was no racial disharmony, as per the typical setting, both goblins and orcs were valued members of society.

I agree,

plus a character idea should always trump mechanical restrictions.

I have always liked The Banewarrens by Monte Cook's Malhavoc Press.

Dithering fool.

One thing Rite Publishing doesn't do is have a release schedule, so that we don't disappoint fans. I don' even start talking about the next project we are working on until it is done. Once it is done and can be released on schedule then I hype it. I am a small company with a very low overhead so I can afford to do this, and it has worked well for us.

Patronage however takes longer than standard releases because you have to incorporate the input of patrons and the time it takes to reach a threshold goal, and then remember this is not my day job.

What I can tell you is the moment we finish one adventure for the patronage project, the next one will start production, though no art or maps will be commissioned until the threshold is met.

If you like patronage projects, join us, our buy in for url=http://ritepublishing.com/theritualsofchoice.html]A Witch's Choice[/url]is $10 for patrons and $20 for senior patrons.

If you like regular monthly release schedules I suggest waiting till we have a few done as a I expect it will be a minimum bi-monthly release schedule at best.

yeah ours (Rite Publishing's Rituals of Choice) is going to go to 25th

I will however give another pump for Drow War, I thought it was a great piece of work by a singular author, and had a great deal of vision. It also has much more of a sandbox feel to it than most other adventure paths.

I will second vote the cload kingdom games riddle rooms

I also seem to remember a few kalamar adventures that had rooms like this, I will double check on that if I find the name I will get back to you, but again I think Riddle Rooms is what you need.

This one is meant to be a much smaller project with a much lower cost $10.00 patron, $20.00 senior patron.

Its up!

The DM's Primer to The Rituals of Choice Adventure Path.

Enjoy!

Update: We have met our production goal (the project is still open to both standard and senior patrons).
Below are links to an art preview and the initial map sketch

Npc artowrk by Eric Lofgren

Intial cartography sketch by Jonathan Roberts

Both of these IMHO look amazing, and I cannot wait to get the finalized piece of cartography.

I am hoping to post the DM's Primer to the Adventure Path tonight or tomorrow.

Later.

Joy!

Oh and don't forget my beloved Arcana Evolved :)

All Rite Publishing products are available as Print On Demand via LULU.com

All patrons can purchase as many print on demand copies of their project as they wish at cost.

Its a patronage project, so its going to more than a standard retail product due to the level of access you receive in creating the product.

60 for standard membership, 120 is for senior patron membership

The Manuscript for Chapter 2: Races, was just released to the Senior Patrons today so no reviews as of yet, due to us having a ways to go to complete the project.

Thanks for the Linkage,

Yes!

Paizo, please print Arcana Evolved!

I have 5 new players who would love a copy :)

Clarification

It is for AE AND 3.5 OGL.

It will be compatible with both rules sets in the same manner that Legacy of the Dragons was. This was based on a senior patron's request.

And a Thank you to joela:)

so worth it,

When ever my groups decided to storm the gates of hell, I always use this book.

Just thought I would share a new preview.

New Preview for Heroes of the Jade Oath Patronage Project

Rite Publishing is proud to present a new player race for Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved, compatible with the 3.5 version of the world's most popular roleplaying game.

Mandragorans are an exotic plantlike humanoid species known for their unique, tapered, head-vines called "nahmaun gorah". Mandragorans consider signed contracts as binding and unbreakable no their part. Paper is sacred and the written word is just as sacred as the paper it is written on. The spoken word is another matter altogether

Thanks BenS got you on the list o patrons

I just wanted to state here that we have reached our starting threshold (# of patrons required to cover all production costs; often refered to as our produciton goal)!

Our patron forums go live OCT 23rd.

Will you still take Patrons after the 4 spots are taken?

Same question for me as well...

I wont have the extra cash until after the 1st of December...

Yes, you can still join,I never turn down money (hehehe) the project starts on OCT 23rd (assuming we make goal); but you can join at anytime.

The 4 spots are required to meet the production Goal of 30 patrons (senior patrons count as two patrons). This means we have the funds to cover the costs of creating the book

The project will not close until we are done or we meet the stretch goal of 93 patrons. (Unless the patrons tell me to keep it open longer).

Thank you for your interest and don't forget

our 3 easy payment plan (heheeheh)

Ken has it correct

A small note: you are not limited to the # of copies you purchase as a patron. As one Senior Patron has put it he plans to purchase the Hardcover full color copy for himself and several Softcover black and white interior versions for his players.

Just a Quick Update we now only need 4 patrons to meet our Production Goal.

I wanted to thank all of you for generating intrest in our product as we had 5 new patrons in less than a day our biggest one day surge yet.

I would love to support projects like this.

There is another way for you to support the project if you cannot afford to be a patron, all of the sale from our mini-pdf book Mythical Monstrosities go toward the Heroes of the Jade Oath Patronage Project.

only $5.95 at lulu.com

It is also available at our other fine retailers Your Games Now and One Book Shelf (rpgdrivethu/rpgnow)

Another question for you: Can one pay for patronage via PayPal?

Your welcome

It is currently the best way to pay

you will find the links toward just after the middle of of thisPAGE

fray wrote:
Anyway to get this without becoming a partron?

Assuming we make our production goal the book will be eventually be on sale as a pdf and POD book. The for sale price will be $60.00 for the PDF (add print costs to that for one copy)

The price will never be lowered, in addition you don't get the exclusive adventure. This is a promise I made to the patrons and patronage has its privliages.

Digitalelf wrote:
Which one will be non-exclusive?

There is two books involved with this specific project one is the core book which is non-exclusive, the other is an adventure that is exclusive.

As I have stated the price for the core book if it goes on sale to the general public will be exactly the same as a standard patron membership and there will never be a sale price. (Unless via unananimous consent the patrons told me to put it on sale.)

The next Jade Oath Project after this is at a minimum 9 months away I will only say it will be up to the patrons.

Digitalelf wrote:
Will that book be available here on Paizo?

The Paizo Store does not currently carry any of Rite Publishing's product's

We are available via our website, Drive-thru rpg, Rpg Now, Your Games Now, and Lulu.com.

To be 100% honest, I have made several attempts previously to have our pdf products carried by Paizo's store but have never gotten even a rejection email, so I stopped sending the emails as I was quite content with our current vendors. In their defense I am a very small PDF/Print On Demand company for a niche fan community of Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved (This is not an attack on Paizo as I am a big fan).

Your welcome to ask them about carrying our products, so that we can make it available. I will get back to pestering them with emails about carrying our products.

1) Correct, at this point it will be Print On Demand via Lulu.com, (we make $0 on the print copy, so make as many as you want) We are making whatever a patron wants from a softback black and white interior ($10-11 plus shipping) to hardcover full color interior artwork ($49-50 plus shipping). I have a thought about a bulk order for all patrons to see if we can get the costs down, but that will be a decision that will be up to the patrons.

Ken Marable wrote:
2) At one point on the webpage, you refer to the book as the "player's guide" - what are the general planned contents?

I will have Frank Carr (the author) address this question in detail.

I will say that besides the core book there will be an exclusive adventure.

Ken Marable wrote:
3) How much of the rules will be Open Gaming Content?

I always try to be very clear in the declaration of open gaming content vs. product identity. Look at our previews, read the declaration of open content and tell me if you think it is clear. As a patron, of course you can suggest changes to make it clearer if you find it muddled (I do not). As a Senior Patron, suggestions become requirements.

Ken Marable wrote:
4)...any general timeline on how long it will take to produce?

The estimate from Editor Bill Collis is 6 months, he has a great deal more experience than I do with patronage projects from his work as Editor for projects like Open Design's Kingdom of the Ghouls and Blood of the Gorgon, the final draft of the manuscript is due from Frank to Bill on OCT 23rd.

We have plans for at least three future Jade Oath patronage projects; we will not have more than one going at a time and at minimum month break between each.

Ken Marable wrote:
..A very interesting product.

Thank you, all the credit goes to Frank Carr.

Ken Marable wrote:
..hopefully I'll work patronage into my budget.

I hope so too, remember the easy payment plan (I thank bill for that idea).

joela wrote:

I welcome and encourage you to sign up as a patron or senior patron (if you have not already).

Our patronage project is a bit different than Wolfgang Baur's Open Design,as Lands of the Jade Oath as the core book will not be exclusive, there is an exclusive adventure that only patrons will ever have access too.

We just released Wayne Reynold's Heroes of the Jade Oath Cover to the public today, last week we released the first preview, the second preview was released out to the patrons for thier review and imput today, it will be released ot the general public on OCT 13th.

Vivanas Mangu,

I would beg most humbly for a copy!

Worldsmith at gmail dot com

Maps, npcs, monsters and the artwork that represents a piece within the book as handouts,

Really anything in the magazine that a GM could use as a handout would be greatly appreciated as a downloadable pdf. I could easily photocopy them but I only have a basic printer at my house.

Hell I still love Return to the tomb of horros for all its handouts.
