From the top of the staircase where it had been dragging itself along the ground near behind the party, the little Archon rose into the air at it's mistress' command, dripping glowing blood from it's scuffed and battered body. 5' adjust diagonally upward, to a position just above Hound's current square. Pyre skirted the edge of the cavern wall trying to keep out of reach of the angry frog as it went after the others. Nor sure how high the cavern ceiling is. If it is too low Pyre might provoke an AoO from moving past the frogbarian. The little archon was zealous. It might have been enslaved and corrupted, but a part of it still remembered its purpose. The surface of its body rippled and undulated, the oily blackness of its body taking on a fractal quality that created short, thick tendrils that held the silver charm. The red light pulsed and dimmed in the fractal cracks, keeping time as it spoke. It's voice was like many distant cellos. "For you. Mistress says break this directly over the angry tree."

The black ball that had been sitting quietly on the back of Rose's saddle raised into the air as she slid off her horse. It rose about 5 feet into the air above her head, it's surface cracking like the surface of lava and casting ruddy light all about. Thanks for the information on lantern archons. The pfsrd entry doesn't have most of that. From that I can deduce that Pyre- Does not eat or sleep (makes sense) Breathes (apparently through integumentary exchange or diffusion, which is awesome) Is solid (or possibly liquid), but probably does not weigh anything (very minimal ability to exert force on things and described as being made of "spiritual purity and pale light.") For my purposes I'm picturing Lantern Archons, and Pyre specifically as being made up of something like a combination of a Ferrofluid sphere (skip tot he 2:00 mark) and a this sound-display program (you might want to mute the terrible song). EDIT: Oh, this one is good too! I find all this celestial physiology stuff really interesting. :)

At level 9, 15 and 17 I've had to use non-Archon celestials because those are where the challenge rating gaps are in the Archon listings. I picked the ones that seemed closest to the themes.
