I'm interested. When you do the recruitment will you just take people from here, or make a new thread? If the latter, is there a way to send people in here a notification that recruitment is open? I'd like on if that can happen.

If I get in, I'll be using Dr. Rowan Strayts, my Human Alchemist, no matter which of the setting you choose to use because I could see him working in any of them. He's a healing-focused (both magical and mundane) Alchemist in the garb of a plague doctor.

So... myth-weavers goofed yesterday or the day before. All sheets made within the last 6 months are gone, and I've lost roughly 16 out of my 20 characters I had. I've been remaking sheets and I'll have to remake Rowan's as well. Just a heads up to anyone else with sheets on myth-weavers, go check them. The sheets will still be there, but they might be empty when you click into them.

Sidenote: This campaign seems to be more over the top than one I would be wanting to use Rowan in. From a lot of the characters I've seen and the background I've been reading, the setting isn't right for him. I think I'll drop out of this one, but have fun, guys.

Forgot to say: For the level 6 version of my character, I wasn't going to get too into specifics yet, because he might change based on what happens in the prologue adventure or on what happens in the time between the two. But rest assured that Rowan Strayts will always be a healing focused Alchemist, I rarely multiclass. If you really need me to, I'll make a level 6 sheet on myth-weavers as well.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Health for level 2

Just a heads up, HP for this one is max at level 1 and the average after that, so for your d10, 5 at level 2, 6 at level 3, 5 at lvl 4, etc.

What caught your eye about this campaign?

I won't lie, I picked this campaign to apply for, mostly, because it was:

A) One that was based in a setting I had no qualms about (I'm not looking for a League of Legends rpg or Star Wars, for example), even though I don't know anything about the setting other than it's medieval fantasy.
B) I was able to find a thread, finally, that didn't already have 20 or so people applying, so I felt I could get in early enough to be able to play.

What are you thinking of playing?

Dr. Rowan Strayts, PhD. A Human Alchemist(Chirurgeon) wearing the clothing of a plague doctor, Rowan hones his talents toward the healing aspect of alchemy, fixing the old fashion way what alchemy cannot fix. He gets excited (though maybe not visibly so, due to the mask he wears most of the time) at the prospect of observing the humanoid anatomy, or even non-humanoid, should the opportunity arise. This is a character I've used in other games (not PbP, roll20 games), but didn't get enough time to roleplay him.

What is your posting availability like?

I can post, at the very least, once daily, unless something comes up, in which case I'll try my best to notify you. But, I'll probably end up posting much more than that, provided I keep getting hooks from the other players/DM.

When you have a character underway, feel free to create an alias and post under it, or link an external sheet from a site like myth-weavers.

I got the feeling that you didn't want us doing that in this thread, unless I'm mistaken, and wanted it free for just applications and ooc questions. Did you have another thread for in-character introduction?

1. ULC is Ultimate Campaign, that's a hardcover. QGE is Quadira, a regional trait from Golarion which is not the same setting we are using for this game.

Alright, so the second one is a no go. Is the first one (Precise Treatment from ULC) good or nah? I'll get to replacing that second one now.

For my character, I had chosen the traits Precise Treatment (Use INT instead of WIS for Heal, +1 Trait bonus to Heal) from ULC and Trained Medic (+2 Trait bonus to Heal when treating poison or disease, Heal is a class skill) from QGE. I had gotten these traits from the pfsrd traits(filter) page and don't exactly what those source abbreviations stand for. So, I have two questions:

1) Are these two traits fine, or do I need to pick something else?
2) I only didn't pick Midgard traits because I don't know where I can access these. Do you have a link to them?

EDIT: Found the right place for the mini-stat line, disregard

Wealth: 250 GP at 2nd level, increasing to standard 16,000 GP at 6th level

Is this 16,000g on top of the 250g we get for level 2, or do we take that amount out of it to have 16,000g total?

Alright, great. Another couple questions.

HP’s: PFS style max at first, average after that.

Also, does average HP mean, if i have a d8 hit die, I take (before CON) 4 every level? Or does it alternate between 4 and 5 to truly be average, since the average would be 4.5?

Traits: You can have two traits or a bonus feat. These can be taken from Kobold Press material or standard Paizo material.

Are drawbacks for additional traits permitted?

So, do we make our character submission at level 2 for the prologue, and the character will be leveled up to 6 before the main campaign?

Hey, all. New to the forums (but not Pathfinder) and have no idea how to go about getting in on a PbP game. Do I just check in here every now and then to see if one of the GMs is asking for a player?

You are correct, very very early renditions of Kobolds were furry little humanoids. I personally prefer the new ones, one of my favorite races.

@Abrotriss Contrar
Yeah, I probably should have realized that. New to PbP, mostly play in Roll20

Dr. Rowan Strayts

Background:
Rowan is a simple man with simple ambitions: To cure the various ailments of the humanoid body. The patient's comfort isn't always necessary to achieve this goal, so many would say his bedside manner is lacking. One can hardly blame him for the numbness of emotion if they knew the source.

From birth until he was about 18 years old, he was a slave. Toiling in the mines ruled by some overlord whom he never met and his undead horde, he was discovered to have a proclivity for the curing arts in his teens. Tasked as the slaves' doctor, he practiced his art for years, biding his time until he could escape, which he eventually did during the confusion of a mine collapse.

He ran, never looking back, ending up as far from there as he possibly could be: Sandpoint. For the past few years, he's been refining his trade, as it's the only skill he both knows and enjoys.

Appearance:
Rowan is a Male Human, tall and lanky. He stands at 6'2" and weighs 170 lbs. He has black, greasy hair and hazel eyes. Though, many never notice these features, as he is always covered head to toe in clothing. He wears dark clothes, a wide brimmed hat, and a cloak, but what really stands out is the white, bird-like mask affixed to his face. It is a plague doctor's mask, usually an indicator of sickness and death. Other than clothing, he carries bandoleers filled with various phials and bottles of liquids unknown to many not versed in his craft. At his side is a simple club and a dagger is attached to his opposite leg.

I have a Mythweavers sheet. Would it be acceptable to use that?

EDIT: Should probably go ahead and post it to reduce the number of comments needed:
Dr. Rowan Strayts

Unsure how to submit a character, but got one ready.
Dr. Rowan Strayts, Human Alchemist
Focuses on healing and the effects of various alchemical creations on the body.

As for traits, you said one had to be a Campaign trait from the anniversary handbook. I don't have this book. Would it be the ones I found in the pfsrd listed for the Rise of the Runelords campaign? (Black Sheep, Favored Son/Daughter, Outlander)?

EDIT: I found them

Also, once I've got this character done, how do I submit it?

I'm new to these things, what do people here mean by "dot" or "dotting."

Rolls for Dr. Rowan Strayts, the Alchemist:
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12

Wow... those are very high for Rowan...
I might just go with the 20 point buy because this character typically has lower stats and I couldn't roleplay him right with these.

Also, forgot starting gold: StartingGold: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3) = 11
barely better than average, I'll take it
