Hi all, I was cleaning up my browser tabs and ran across the question of what Poog's resources were. From the previous Discussion page, my magical resources are :
==========================================================================
Standard available spells :
At will : Speak With Animals, Bleed, Detect Magic, Light
5/5 per day : Fire Bolt(d6)
4/4 per day : Channel Negative Energy(30'rad, DC 12, 2d6)
1st level : Burning Hands(D), Shield of Faith, Bless, Obscuring Mist
2nd level : Hold Animal(D), Silence, Spiritual Weapon
Wand of CLW : 24 charges
Wand of fireball 3 charges
Wand of sound burst 14 charges
==========================================================================
Of course, the "at will" (level 0) and level 1 and 2 spells could be changed by the new player, except for the (D) spells...
Sulking at being the only one left behind, Poog talks quietly to his toad.
Was there anything set up about how long Poog should wait before following? Or is he just following a couple dozen feet behind?
Reveling in the revelry and enjoying the goblin-on-goblin frolicking as MUCH as possible - this is probably the only time in his life Poog has *ever* had any attention paid to him! The good kind, that is.
P.S. - Moggy's owner is spending a LOT of O/T at work lately due to the nature of the job and the time of year - he was even there yesterday (Thanksgiving day)! I'm sure he's ok with you 'botting him.
Struggling harder and harder, Poog tries to free himself :
Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 (P.S. - rolled Fort above last, but called it Strength)
1 HP taken,
Strength: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
but breaking free!
"Ah-ha! Me free, me free! Now to get out of this mess!" Poog crows, and climbs out as fast as he can.
5 points for being second one out, I believe.
I was going to ask about killing eagles from outside the pie, too, once I got free. All you said above was "killing an eagle", so that count from outside the pie, too?
Strength: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
No damage this round.
Strength: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Not breaking free.
Sorry to hold things up, health problems getting in the way...
Please let me know if I missed anything : looks like
*DC 10 Fort to not take 1 HP
*First, break free : DC 18 Str or DC 22 Escape Artist
(and no penalties to these ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^)
*Then, EITHER attack eagles (-4 to attack, -4 AC if attacked)
*..........OR get out of the pie
(Typing this out for notes to myself for future reference, having problems concentrating lately...)
Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
No damage this round.
Strength: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Not breaking free.
"OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! Me thinks this no test, this just make fun for OTHER Goblins! OUCH!!!"
GM Baerlie :
1. Since there's no "attack roll", would there be any penalties to casting once I break free?
2. Is getting out of the pie automatic once we're not bound? What kind of action (Move, Double Move, etc.)? Any rolls involved?
GM Baerlie, are you out there?
Poog would go before Reta...
Ranged Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 16 + 2(BAB) + 2(DEX) = 20 is surely a hit
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
After the last stirge goes up in flames, Poog boasts "Poog really really good at this game! First and last one, first and last one! Yesss, yessss!".
He then carefully walks back to shore ("taking 10", please let me know if I need to roll for it).
Used : 4 Fire Bolts, 1 Burning Hands
"Stinky"?!? *That* doesn't narrow it down at all! :)
Poog steps onto the plank in front of him :
Agility: 1d20 ⇒ 16 + 2(DEX) = 18
Then jumps over to the next plank :
Agility: 1d20 ⇒ 14 + 2(DEX) = 16
And this time uses Burning hands to try and get both stirges to his NE :
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 Woohoo!
But, they get a Reflex save to half damage.
Just curious, what are the HP for the stirges? Mogmurch's first 4 didn't kill one, but then his 4 and 6 killed two?
Poog moves to the right, to take out another stirge :
Ranged Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 16 + 2(BAB) + 2(DEX) = 20 is surely a hit
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Fire again erupts from his pointed finger to fry another bird.
Poog shouts back at Mogmurch "Rules no say not, 'so this no be cheating'!" and throws a big raspberry in his general direction.
Trying the same thing again, targeting the stirge Mogmurch just softened up for him :
Ranged Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 3 + 2(BAB) + 2(DEX) = 7
I doubt that hits, but just in case :
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
GM Baerlie - for future reference, is it one Acrobatics check per plank, no matter its length?
And what roll is needed to jump to an unconnected plank?
Thanks!
Talking is a Free action, you can take out-of-turn, right? :)
Jumping back and forth from leg to leg, Poog crows "Yesss, yesss! Me first one to takey birdy down-down! Me good at *this* test, yesss, yesss!"

Sorry, M-Th doesn't allow much time for posting (new work schedule). Sometimes I can, sometimes I can't.
Also, apologies in advance if I miss some system detail, I've been having health problems with fatigue and mental clarity. I'm listing everything explicitly so you can see where the numbers come from.
Moving forward 4 squares (6 squares normally, -1 square for boots = 5 max). (If the -4 stirge is not within 30' [I *think* it is, including diagonals], he can still take a step to the left.)
Poog also chuckles deviously to himself, thinking that he can avoid having to go out on the planks.
Raising one hand up to the sky and pointing with the other hand into the swamp, Poog shouts "Zarongel, make me aim well!"
Casting Fire Bolt at the stirge already hit by Mogmurch (I'm assuming whoever gets the "kill" strike gets the points)
Ranged Touch: 1d20 ⇒ 19 + 2(BAB) + 2(DEX) = 23, I think that hits
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
A 30' stream of fire shoots out of Poog's finger and crisps the stirge.
Perception #1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Perception #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Yes!
Perception #3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Yes!
Bow #2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Yes!
Bow #3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Yes!
Miss on <= 50 #2: 1d100 ⇒ 28 Miss
Miss on <= 50 #3: 1d100 ⇒ 47 Miss
0 points
"Hmph! Stoopid test! Who can hit anything blindfolded! Me either not use this thing before! Me use powerful god-magic!"
Poog doesn't say anything to the others, but he's a little worried about the upcoming trials. He doesn't want to be chief, why should he have to do them?
So instead he focuses his attention on the multitude of choices in the feast before him, and on a lark, decides to eat crow.
Poog couldn't have said it better himself, so he waits for a response...

Wand of sound burst 14 charges
Basically ready to go. Since Clerics can have any spell ready, I will announce his default spell list ASAP, hopefully by early tomorrow.
Apologies if this is considered improper, but...
I have an opening for a PC in a modern-day scenario, sort of "Buffy meets MIB". But it's in a system called Savage Worlds. If you're interested, the manual only costs $10, and I can talk you thru the PC creation process.
The game starts HERE, if you want to take a look. I took over the game later when the GM moved on to other things.
Since I'm not PFS, I would prefer to start now, but if it matters to the other players, I'm willing to go along with what's better for everyone else.
So, does this scene smoothly move into the next module, or do we need to role-play our getting back to the tribe to start the next one, or something else?
FYI for all, I've heard from Mogmurch, he confirmed what I said above about lack of internet connection. He'll be back as soon as he gets some decent bandwidth somewhere, but it may be some time before that happens.
I heard that his internet & cell connection at home has crapped out (it was never very fast to begin with, for complicated reasons), and I know for a fact he can't post at work thru PC's. And/or he may be slammed at work, I know that happens every so often. He hasn't posted in 3 other games I'm in with him for a while, either.
Something's better than nothing!
Perhaps we (the players) can fill in the gaps with role-playing talk and stuff between the PC's...
So Moggy is stable and at -10 HP. He'll recover 1 HP/night, but if he takes ANY damage for a while, he'd be dead, correct?
Feeling stingy about the number of charges left in his "precious" wand, Poog grudgingly goes over to Moggy and pokes him with it :
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 now at -4
"Maybe we camp out here tonight, let Moggy rest. He feel better tomorrow."
And he gets to roll to see if he regains consciousness, so at least the player can contribute. Yeah, I know if he takes damage at this point he'd start dying again, but...Poog is stingy and the rolls were low.
Charges used recently : 3
Apologies, I know *nothing* of PFS (so no credit), or this module.
Is that really all there was to it? Are there subsequent modules?
Baerlie, would you consider running us thru more modules (if any), or continuing on in a free-form game?
Just curious, why didn't Poog get a chance for a withdraw AoO on the frog?
Stepping over Vorka's smoldering body, Poog attacks the frog :
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 +1(Bless) = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
I took the liberty of moving Vorka's icon so Poog would show up.
Looking at the extent of Mogmurch's wounds, and knowing it will take a LOT of healing to fix them, Poog instead decides to re-join the fight :
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 +1(Bless) = 4
Yeah, pretty sure that's a miss.
Since I haven't seen anything saying he's dead yet...
Poog moves over to Mogmurch and uses his CLW wand :
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 WORST POSSIBLE result!
So, he's at -10? Does cure wounds auto-stabilize at least? Sorry, I'm not so familiar with PF anymore...
Poog is up first in the next round, if the rules allow (in other words, if Moggy is still the least bit alive) it I can use the CLW wand.
Available
At will : Speak With Animals, Bleed, Detect Magic, Light
4/5 per day : Fire Bolt(d6)
4/4 per day : Channel Negative Energy(30'rad)
1st level :
Wand of CLW : 8 charges
My head hurts trying to think about avoiding AoO's, but I don't want to be next to two opponents, either. So...
Poog moves to be next to the frog, and attacks :
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 +1(Bless) = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Woo-hoo!
Couple of things :
Is where Poog is now a square that was just hit by Reta's fire-breath?
Will I be blocking the way for Mogmurch?
I'm curious why Mogmurch went first? Did he have to get out of the way before Poog and Chuffy could attack?
Rinse and repeat :
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 +1(Bless) = 18
If that's a hit :
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Woohoo! Two max'd-out damages!
"Poog be slicin', Poog be dicin'!!!"
Heh - typical Goblin thinking - "let's all hide in here and jump them"...oops, we're all constrained by a doorway!
If Poog can attack "around the edge" of the door :
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 + 1(Bless) = 16
If that's a hit :
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
And no problem if I can't attack around the edge, just let me know.
Baerlie - in my mind I don't think a minute's passed since I cast the Bless, but if it has in yours, just let me know, and adjust the 16 attack to 15.
Otherwise, everyone remember the +1 attack from the Bless!
Perverted enough to keep dogs as *pets* (shudder)!
Since she opened the door and we were prepared to attack, do we get surprise?
So, it sounds like all but Reta are in the room (Chuffee's icon is not there in the map, but his last post says he's there). Nothing like splitting up the team... :)
Does the voice and/or footsteps eventually get closer?
Poog whispers very quietly but urgently "Shh! Shh! Shh! Someone come! Come in, get away from door, stand still and no talk! We all jumps him when he comes in!"
I've moved Poog into the little room on the map, where I assume we all are now? At least, both Reta and I said we were searching it...
Ah. Didn't read the description all the way thru. Thanks!
Feeling cheated again of the kill, Poog channels his energies into searching around.
Thanks for the other explanation (hadn't looked at Chuffee's class), still wondering about Reta's +2 bow damage?
Group is at +1 to hit (Bless)
Available
At will : Speak With Animals, Bleed, Detect Magic, Light
4/5 per day : Fire Bolt
1st level :
Wand of CLW : 8 charges
Also stepping forward, after Reta shoots and attacking, hoping for the kill shot :
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Damage if hits: 1d4 ⇒ 1 Phooey! :)
Just trying to figure things out (not all that "up" on PF these days, and mentally foggy on top of that) - Chuffee's damage from the PDF is listed as d4-1, not d4+1. And where is the extra d6 coming from? Are there some other character features (feats, attributes, etc.) going on?
And why is Reta's damage +2 with a bow?
Just want to make sure I'm not missing something, and doing less damage than I should...
People can answer in Discussion if they prefer.
Feeling slightly cheated at not getting the killing attack, Poog is nonetheless a little happy for at least having attacked a dog. To hide his mixed feelings, he sticks to business. "Well, what we do now? You think maybe any sparklies be on this boat?"
"Yep yep yep, no more yip, yip yip!"
Sorry, I'm a little confused - it appears that the red one is dead (but it's icon is still on the map)? So I'm moving my icon to the blue one, which is a ladder climb away? If that would involve more than a singe Move action, please let me know...
Poog moves in and attacks :
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12 + 1(bless) = 13
If that hits :
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
ALL - don't forget your +1 to attack from the Bless!
Hey, sorry dude for taking over your PC, if you want him back, I'd understand completely...
Casting a Bless on our group.
Assuming there's nothing in sight yet to attack, also continuing to move forward slowly :
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14
Don't know what the DC is, but that's pretty low...please let me know if that doesn't make it.
I moved Poog (being the worser fighter) to the back, if Chuffee wants to move forward a square then Poog will too.
Poog whispers *very* quietly, "Well, what we do now?"
If we keep on moving do we have to make more Stealth rolls?
Available
At will : Speak With Animals, Bleed, Detect Magic, Light
4/5 per day : Fire Bolt
1st level : Bless
Wand of CLW : 8 charges
Seeing as two of them were used up one way or the other already, I'll just change Burning Hands to Bless for now, but list my prepared spells each day from now on.
Oh, I guess I'll change Guidance to Create Light since that hasn't been used yet in game play.
