Pick up a Dazing rod and toss that on your Magic Missiles. It adds a Will save to the spell if it doesn't normally allow a save, so Spell Focus will still be useful. Also pick up Toppling Spell--with Magical Lineage, it adds a free trip attempt to every missile. Heighten Spell + Dazing Rod is your late-game combo, with the possibility of locking down multiple targets for rounds at a time. ![]()

Is that an Alteration of the base form or just access to more then one of them? Yes it can. The archetype in question specifically calls out how it interacts with the Unchained Summoner. The ruling on compatible archetypes was specifically written to address archetypes existing prior to PF:U. Most (if not all) Summoner archetypes released since are compatible with the Unchained Summoner. ![]()
![]() Casts Raise Thread
The Sanos Abduction: Bronja, our Warpriest of Gorum, took a shine to Riddywhipple, and would cuddle him at every opportunity while reciting passages form the Gorumskagat.
When we dispatched the reanimated corpse of his Pegasus friend, the little dragon was inconsolable. Bronja held him close, and whispered, "There there--wash away your sorrows with the blood of your enemies." He seemed to take this advice to heart, for when Marigana was defeated, Riddywhipple seized a rock and began pounding her corpse to a bloody pulp, screaming, "BLOOD AND THUNDER!" When the party returned to Ignizi, she picked up right away that something was amiss with Riddywhipple--covered in blood, breathing heavily, eyes burning with rage. "What's wrong with him?" she asked. "He found religion," was the reply. ![]()
![]() John Compton wrote: I portray him much as Zak Glade (Zefig) does—much like a slightly squeakier and less antagonistic version of Abraham Simpson from The Simpsons. He puts on a good show of being hard of hearing, a little slow to process information, and a bit smelly. On the other hand, Dreng's still pretty darn canny, and it's not entirely clear how much of his senility is an act. I think players have a bit more respect for him when he "show[s] that I've still got it" by ending a mission briefing while tottering away, pausing, and then returning to give back some of the PCs possessions that he accidentally swiped while they weren't looking. With a wink, he shuffles out of the room. Rob Silk portrayed him wonderfully during the Grand Convocation at PaizoCon UK (2012). He managed to slip a mission briefing into my hand before I even noticed he was there. Then the entire party was nearly torn to shreds by escaped menagerie critters. ![]()

![]() From last night's game:
Fury of the Fiend: We decided that spending several days repairing the elevator to the depths of Rachikan was a waste of time. Instead, the party druid put on a ring of Feather Falling, cast Ant Haul, wildshaped into a large tiger, and leapt down the shaft with the rest of the party clinging to his back. The waiting Morlocks, having no descending elevator to leap upon in waves, gathered below to gape up at the sight. Then it started raining Fireballs and Alchemist's bombs. ![]()

![]() I was looking at coagulating a blob of PFS GM Credit into an Arcanist, and would appreciate some feedback. The idea was to use the Occultist archetype to bust out standard action summons, then switch to blasting and crowd control. The Arcanist was chosen over Wizard due to being the only way I know of to get Potent Magic augmented blasts along with standard action summons. Race: Human
Traits: Wayang Spellhunter (Burning Arc), Magical Lineage (Burning Arc) 1: Spell Focus: Evocation, Spell Specialization: Magic Missile
At level 2 (when I'd start playing it), this build puts out 3d4+3 magic missiles--not the greatest blast, but far less risk/reward tradeoff than the 5d4 Burning Hands it could be doing instead. At lower levels, Conjurer's Focus is like getting several extra spell slots combined with Acadamae Graduate. When it picks up Burning Arc at 4, it already deals 7d6 Empowered, and hits the 10d6 cap at 6. I would be picking up a Ring of Summoning Affinity (Asura) at 7-- the Adhukait with Augment Summoning is crazy good. It seems like it would scale well into PFS tier 10-11, particularly in groups. One weakness I'm seeing in the build is initiative--by higher levels, it's probably only going to be around +4. Any thoughts? ![]()
![]() Funny, I was just thinking about a similar build. Mine used Theologian (Fire Domain), along with metamagic reduction traits and Spell Specialization to follow up the quick dazing channel with an empowered Fireball. Retraining a feat at 3rd level in PFS will cost you 150gp and 5 Prestige. It's a big chunk of prestige, but easily doable by 3rd. One feat I would recommend for your build is Battle Cry from ACG. Ignore the morale bonuses it provides--it's still a swift action contingent Saving Finale for the entire party, 6+ times per day. ![]()

When I ran this one, the party tried to barter their velociraptor (acutally the wildshaped druid) for the pegasus. The fact that it could talk was a selling point, but the fact that it did nothing but insult the two handlers soured the deal somewhat. The same druid has also carried an entire Pathfinder team over a large chunk of the Tanglebriar in the form of an owl, with the rest of the team hanging from a rope clutched in his talons. ![]()
![]() Semi-related anecdote:
PaizoCon UK 2014: One table near mine had a halfling Druid who carried a stuffed tiger everywhere. When entering public buildings, such as houses, taverns, and similar, she would ask if [name escapes me] could come in. Everyone she asked would invariably assume that she was referring to the stuffed tiger, and say yes. She would then stick her head out the door, and holler "It's ok, you can come in!", and in would stroll her animal companion--a very large and very real tiger. ![]()
![]() I'm putting together a Skald/Dragon Disciple for PFS, and would like some feedback on the build. The idea was to build a versatile character who could provide party buffs, capable melee presence, knowledge skills, and social skills, who could also be halfway decent at ranged combat if necessary. Name: Crúac Howling Void
1: Barbarian (Savage Technologist) 1—Power Attack
Key items: Belt of Giant Strength +2, +1 Courageous Furious Falchion
Crúac starts out as a competent melee fighter who quickly picks up an array of combat buffs, knowledge skills, and social skills. Savage Technologist was chosen for its (IMHO) superior rage bonuses , rather than its penchant for firearms. Lesser Spirit Totem is wonderful with Raging Song, becoming progressively more powerful with each melee combatant—though Crúac's modest Charisma tames this somewhat. While I'd love to be tossing out Cacophonous Call/Piercing Shriek/Glitterdust lockdowns, Charisma won't likely be high enough to get them to reliably stick. By level 9, Crúac hits 30 Strength while raging or under the effects of Raging Song, assuming she can get a Greater Magic Weapon spell at CL 8 from an ally (at level 10, she can cast it herself with Spell Kenning). This puts her melee attacks at +25/+18, 2d4+25. She also has the option of picking up a Furious AoMF, for +20/+18/+20, d6+19 (bite)/d4+15 (2 claws). With a +1 Adaptive Composite Longbow, she hits at +14/+9 for d8+10. Not great, but probably adequate for situations where nothing else will do. Any advice for improving the build—stat arrays/archetypes/feat substitutions/spells/Masterpieces, etc? ![]()
![]() Ring of Bilious Trolling Aura faint enchantment and abjuration; CL 3rd
This tarnished silver ring bears the white-enamelled image of a leering face. It was created to aid the wearer in haranguing adversaries while mitigating retaliation. It grants the wearer a +5 competence bonus on Intimidate checks to demoralize an opponent. If the wearer must make a reflex saving throw against an effect that deals fire damage, he takes only half damage on a failed save. The ring has no effect unless worn by a creature named trollbill. ------------------------------------------------------

![]() By RAW it works the other way around, actually. You can emulate a class feature, but not an entire class. So when the ring says: Ring of Revelation wrote: The ring has no effect if worn by a non-oracle, this precludes the rogue from activating it with UMD. What I'm asserting is that an Oracle can use the Emulate Class Feature option of UMD to emulate a different Mystery and activate the ring. ![]()

![]() Honestly, if you`ve advised the players to retreat, given them a golden opportunity to do so, and they insist on pressing on regardless of the (known) danger, then putting kid gloves on only worsens the situation. While no one likes to lose a character, softballing encounters only leads to the continued expectation of such behaviour, and de-emphasizes the importance of preparedness, teamwork, and clever tactics. Players need to realize that they will occasionally run into situations they are ill equipped to handle, and sometimes retreating and regrouping is the best option. By 4th, and certainly by 6th level, this is something players should be aware of and expecting.
