One quick thought. I know you said the FCU will have no changes but be in parallel... However just to make things absolutely clear that it will be blocking nothing -and the CUP is what handles things instead- would it perhaps make sense to either strike Requirement 2? Or at least modify it to mention the Community Use Policy as another thing you would use instead of the FCU?

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Paizo, thank you for listening to the community and reinstating the CUP with merely some housekeeping updates. And thank you community for responding so quickly and clearly to make it so clear this was concerning. Going to echo a few others here in saying there is nothing like a good dialogue. I can only hope for future community changes there may be a commentary period.

Godsrain Contingencies (7) Zon-Kuthon is out now!
The expunging of Zon-Kuthon leaves a divided Nidal, but the world feels his “death” moreso in the wake of Shelyn’s mourning. She strived to create the right songs to summon her brother Dou-bral, giving rise to Muses of Misery, but in the in her failure she opened the paths to the Mysteries of Grief, now cursing creatives and bleeding joy for some time.

I originally thought these were a tie in to get us excited for War of Immortals, but still separate fiction.
But the further we get, like Yivali, I do wonder if these are part of the meta-event and meaning to influence peoples attitudes or events.

4 people marked this as a favorite.

I love this. This is the best "Death" for Zon-Kuthon, and while these are winding down nice to see there's some flexibility in the meaning of death.
But then of course it sets off so many other things, we still get to that fall out and another kind of grief.

Aww thanks!

NGL, took a few tries to come up with something that struck just the right tone. And looking across a few thesaurusus. I was kinda afraid no one would like these, because they're all for not real events... but, if they're for a back up plan, contingencies, just maybe people may be interested in some fun extra options.

Godsrain Contingencies (6) Nethys is out now!
Nethys has ripped magic, creating hollows across the globe and wild magic beyond them. Most people struggle to adapt with either losing their magic or struggling amid a world without it, but a handful have become inundated by the backlash instead. How will you choose to adapt?

Ah heck yes!
Guessing Archive of Nethys update lining up with Nethys prophecy is gonna pay off!
Two of my new doctrines in Godsrain Contingencies assume little to no spellcasting! The overlap is real.
Now I can have all sorts of fun with magical alternatives for everyone, not just our clerics.

The next update for Godsrain Contingencies is available!
After Urgathoa's death and unread rise all over Golarion, not a thing has not changed and it is a new era for adventures. Try on these seven new backgrounds for players coming from devastating situations, six skill feats, and not god transitions this week but more reactions of the populace and the gods, since not everyone is convinced they are returning to service.

My own theory is that Paizo decides on who the next deity will be based on the comments following the previous deity's blog post.
While that would have been fun (for me especially), the art department made all the versions of the Days of Future Past poster at once, so we had to tell them who should be marked "safe" in each subsequent version. In general, we operate too far ahead of time to actually pull something like that off without putting a lot of extra work on just about everyone in the process to drop what they're doing and pick up the thread for the next installment.

Makes sense. Get this fully outlined and streamlined through the teams in advance.

Doing something in response once a week, that's crazy talk!

So perhapse it's not that Urgathoa is a "stopper" on the world turning undead, but rather a "stopper" on the forces who would do so, as an existence entirely of undeath leaves her and her followers nothing to feast upon.

I like that. I was kinda debating how upset Geb would be over losing all his "quick" uhhhh, let's say workforce. But thinking about it at the more divine scale is even more spicy.

Huh. Is this now not just a curiosity but a prequel? Since Yivali is speaking of watching Aranzi closer, and Yivali is hanging out with Arazni on the cover of Divine Mysteries.

Godsrain Contingencies week 3 available now!

Cayden Cailean updates are now included. Learn about the Ill Luck Inebriates and how even the gods have reacted to Cayden's fall. Check out new feats, items, a whole new archetype, the Agnosticator Archetype where you use your power of disbelief to shut down the followers of the god you're trying to remove from divinity.

I'm seeing quotes both ways, but I'm team there's kernels if not a whole lot of truth here. Just not the actual dying part.

I know I am woefully remiss in my Pathfinder tales reading, but, at least on the descriptions I've skimmed I don't recall _anything_ with godly pov. Please point me to where it is if I'm missing it, cause I need more, now that I have tasted. And I am soaking this in. How can I know a character truly until I've seen through their eyes? And as these prophecies are seeming to reveal, potentially their greatest fear / anxieties.
Golarion has always been a neat varied setting but this is dragging me deeper, and I am here for it.

This is making me confident that my guesses of Sarenrae/Asmodeus/Pharasma are all wrong and all three Divine Mysteries stained glass gods survive :'D

(btw, do we still get short stories for 9 gods that aren't part of 10 week countdown or are we left forever wondering what their prophecies would have been? x'D)

I would love more of Erin's take on this. But if Paizo doesn't do this, I don't think the community will let an absence of prophecies stand! Where my fellow Golarion fiction writers? :D

Weekly blog posts of Universe rippling changing parallel universe effects?
I accept challenge.

In the Godsrain Contingencies, Yivali analyzes the impacts of each god’s death and suggests new options players can take in order help mitigate all the changes that have wrecked Golarion. Every week new scenarios are revealed. Perhaps in extrapolating from each of these false prophecies we can prepare for the ultimate death in April.

Check it out on Pathfinder Infinite

Oh my God...all 20 of 'em. So week by week is how we're gonna find o-WAIT NO!!

There's only 10 weeks until April 16th. They're only gonna clear half the names by the time that stream goes live, if I'm doing my math right (which is questionable).

Correct. There's enough teasing in this thread and campaign in general that I do feel a certain level of transparency and expectation management is warranted. This is a 10-part series, during which we will reveal 10 of the core twenty "safe" from the pending demise set to fall upon one of their number. This means that when we do our big stream on April 16—in which we'll reveal not only who dies, but a bunch of info on tie-in products and more—there will be 10 potential victims. We didn't want to narrow it down too much and ruin the fun of speculation!

And now back to being a cagey instigator!

From a lore perspective these are very interesting. Obviously, the prophecies themselves are meant to be false but are the outcomes of said prophecies, such as how the souls are heralded in Pharasma's absence, intended to be taken as canon statements of what would happen in the aftermath, or is it just one potential version of what would happen if Pharasma was dead as well?

I know a lot of people theorized she was safe because of potential ramifications, but it'd be cool to understand if this is actually the order of things that Pharasma creates or not.

These are meant to be just a possible outcome, but also one that comes with enough ramifications and story potential that we would use the idea to kick off the War of Immortals. I'd like to imagine there are various parallel timelines where we chose a different god to die and their death plays out like in the Godsrain Prophecy blog. So, in a way, these are canon to parallel timeline versions of Pathfinder.

I was kinda wondering if this was gonna serve up different gods for each refresh... but ah, gradually we get different gods. That makes more sense.

"In fact, as of the publication of this FAQ, you are expressly prohibited from releasing any content in your Pathfinder Infinite or Starfinder Infinite product as Licensed Material under the ORC."

Um, that's pretty seriously BAD. I knew Pathfinder Infinite was a bad thing and would lead to worse down the road -- and this 100% confirms it. Glad I've done no browsing there at all. Embrace a gosh-darned open system -- the very thing that allowed Paizo to exist in the first place. Trying to become like those Seaside Mages that live just down the road, are you?

Otherwise, I hope people properly abandon Infinite and release things ORC themselves. Or better yet, people return to just posting things free on the Internet for the joy of it without attempting to micro-monetize/turn their hobby into a side-gig.

I would appreciate it if you do not imply that the work people done is not ... well work. A great many of the products on Pathfinder Infinite are equal to Paizo quality. And being done by folks individually without the support of a whole company of experts specializing. Though speaking of there are Paizo freelancers, heck there are Paizo employees, are you suggesting what they have producing is not worthy of compensation?

Just because it's something one enjoys, it doesn't mean one doesn't deserve compensation for the work. If you feel that presenting new rules, new character options, new adventures, new NPCs, and the whole host of options on Pathfinder Infinite or Pathfinder Compatible Products could be considered micro-monetization... then I'm not sure this is the thread for you anyway.

I've already learned a lot through the whole contest process, voting, taking in all the wisdom of the forums and seeing who actually did come out on top. Thank you everyone for the participation and excitement. It really turned this contest into an event for the public in addition to the winners.

That said, if anyone would like to comment, I would appreciate the specific advice.

(Some of my initial thoughts are I'm not sure I got the cost quite right, given its not the traditional slot for this type of item (although I thought it was thematic) and it certainly was fairly less mojo than a swath of the items I saw in the voting)

Headband of the Hirsute
Aura faint transmutation; CL 6th
Slot headband; Price 8,500 gp; Weight 2 lbs.
Description
This thick headband is covered in dense, coarse animal fur. The headband stimulates hair growth for the wearer allowing the subject to grow a thick pelt. Furthermore the pelt bestows a +2 circumstance bonus to Stealth checks when in a natural environment. This bonus increases to +5 if the subject is not wearing armor or clothing. However, due to the wearer's bestial appearance, the subject now takes a -5 penalty on all Diplomacy checks.

The hair will grow comfortably under clothing and armor as long as it is not tight or form-fitting. The headband must be worn for three days before the pelt is completely grown and for the wearer to gains its benefits.
