Orik looks at Circe and seems to be bewildered, possibly at your words but also at the odd sensation of being elsewhere than the forest. Eventually he seems to snap out of it and offers, "Not sure... where are we? Is this Sanctuary?"

A bit stupified he responds slowly, "Vancasterkin... Orik... strange bear symbols were... are... upon you." Then he just stands there looking at you interested.

He tries the door and finds it unlocked, walking in he finds a tender morsel for his eyes as the 'maid' is working on her hands and knees. He closes the door behind himself and takes off his boots, leaving the mud just at the door. He clears his throat to get her attention and achingly waits patiently with a smile on his face.

Orik stops and ponders for a few moments before asking, "Jeffery, are you even apart of my pledge? Miss Darkling, Garret, Baris, Aien, and the other fellow that just faded from view perhaps but I dont think you were part of that group I pledged to guide? Am I correct?"

Orik rolls his eyes at the state of Alice and waits with the group.

I wonder what I have gotten myself into with this group.

He pulls his chain from the cylinder on his back and twirls the blade as they wait.

Orik takes a seat in one of the corners on a sleeping roll he had on his pack.

Orik stays at the table with Mr. Manyteeth and Ironfist nodding to the two he says, "Yeah, I am of the House of Ballads. Another Fae faction, one of summer and life. I will not be joining their ranks even though I have no official part to the House of Ballads."

He sits back and enjoys the show.

At the mention of the Troll Lord he whispers to the group, "The House of Ballads needs to know of this, if we cant get word or send me home, I will need a day of leave."

Orik on the other hand makes a direct comment, "It appears you have made another ally. As long as this Winter Fae or other creatures are your allies and don't threaten you, I won't harm them, after all we got plenty to fight with. Baris it is good to see you, how did you get caught up into all of this?"

Orik puts on black gloves with metallic chunks embedded in them, he taps the bottom of what likely is his weapon case and chain begins to fall out. He grabs it and works it into a spin, a blade about a foot long is attached to the end of his chain. He continues to spin it around and snapping it to attack the ground leaving deep gashes in the ground. He asks, "Is there a place where we should be hunting or just keep our ground?"

"I will protect my charges but if you wish I can join in the hunt as well." Orik says flippantly.

He nods his head at the options and waits for you to make a choice or to engage him, otherwise he works on writing in his journal.

Orik offers little to answer, "I can take you South but these lands are unfamiliar to me. I will join in to protect any of you from harm, according to our contract."

Responding to Aien's question he looks a bit puzzled, "Actually very little the winter and summer courts have very few interactions. Let alone sharing rituals, we have a hunt on the full moon but it is to hunt the winter heart stags or evil within our domain."

"And now my agreement with your group allows my evolution that much more." He says smiling at Jeffery.

Orik relays the important points, "My life has typically been a blur as is most Fae, following the ballads and our roles. I have watched since I don't have a role yet. Perhaps that is my role, to watch. Though the blur did stop just a few days ago, I enjoyed a tryst, then the next day felt the pull of a summons to you as a guide."

"If you could lead us to an abandoned webbing of the Emerald Devils or escort us to a prime collecting location likely with less spiders, that would be appreciated." Orik offers to request.

"I can only assume as much as she has alluded to, likely trying to make a Fae who has power over some or a good portion of the Emerald Devils become a vendor. She appears to be a Fae with some control over spiders, she is of the Winter Court. We tend to keep to ourselves. You could ask her what her name or title is currently, though she hasn't been very forthright with information. I believe the black armor is a type of living creature or plant that protects and has a symbiotic relationship with the wearer. The Winter Court keeps their armor as a secret only they know the truth." Orik responds to Jeffery's questions.

Orik offers what he knows, "That did shave off about a days travel but we are farther in the Emerald Devil's territory than I had hoped. We might even see some of the larger ones." He shudders after the last sentence.

"Since we have only a day or two to collect before heading back we should head straight for emerald devil territory." He suggests.

"Not personally. He wears the apparel of a Fae of the Winter Court, knows and acknowledges my right as a guide. You can speak with him, he won't attack unless provoked... more than we have already done. Collect your webs, interact with him if you choose and we will move along once you are ready." Orik relays with little emotion.

He stops dancing for a bit and lifts one arm into the air and then nods. The 'man in black' returns the gesture before sitting down at the forest edge.

He does a bit of a jig himself as the music catches him.

"Garet, if I, a Druid, or another Fae take plants and some special sod to start a garden in a new place. This will expand the forest's reach and increase magic. Onwards then, I will point out magical locations along the way, loot locations, and any spider webs." He says more in response to Garret than the rest. "You are correct Jeffery about Tailoring, if you have the the skill and tools spider silk is a great resource, I don't have either but know of other tailors that do."

Aien you sense only truth.

Along the path he talks about direct questions first, "The House of Ballads is ruled by a fair and just king, he is known as White Crest, among other names. We have no official enemies, the evil fey and despoilers of the forest meet our wrath when they act out upon their nature. There is a quicker way to get to the House of Ballads but you are not a Fae and the other underground routes are very dangerous, the Midnight Forest. True there are many families of Fae in the House of Ballads and other fey as well. A better reception would be met with the slaying of a legendary beast or major threat to the forest."

As you travel he will point out Magical locations, loot locations, and how the House of Ballads works. The first couple of nights Orik tells the group to stay to the path and that you can sleep soundly without a guard, though Orik watches. You never see him sleep.

"Greetings Jeffrey Flynn. Our prestige system is based on works and your position as a hero. How would you help improve the forest? You could visit the House of Ballads but it would be dangerous for non fey, it would take under two weeks to get there on foot. The Cheshire Cat has moved on and thus you are safe and prevented a death. Yes it was a verbal technique to add in urgency for us to choose a Guide, and I don't care for loss of needless life. I do not have a hidden agenda, I wish to continue to see your adventures outside of the forest and the only way I can do that is if it is in contract. My duties as a guide are to lead you towards your goal, do my best to keep you away from dangerous locations, and do my best to make sure you survive. Though there are no real rules concerning being a guide I will try to uphold those three tenants. What do you want to learn, there are many things I could teach you but likely you would not be interested in most of them. My major skill is tailoring, I could teach that the best. Story telling and bardic skills come to me naturally too. I wish to learn how mortals live outside of the forest." The fey seems to be rather reserved in body language more expressive with his facial features but not much, no good tells visible. Though you seem to have gotten nearly all questions answered.

"There are many, many parties involved in the forest. The Grey Wardens are brokering for Sanctuary and the forest so that there is no more bloodshed and that the lumberyard could begin to work again. They would have much to contend with if they planned to rip up our edges. Though your best bet would be to speak with the three nearest Houses: Ballads, Beasts, and Earth."

knowledge local DC 25 for Orik Vancasterkin Silv:
House of Silv is among the lower families in the House of Ballads. Orik is estranged from his family but still has his duties to the family, House, and the fey, in that order. He is a bard and loves to spin tales and learn new ones. He is estranged because of his interest of mortals. He does not have a ballad that encompasses him yet.

"Orik Vancasterkin Silv. Yes there are quite a few viable targets along the way for looting that only the fey of the area would have possible problems with your looting. Yes I will be your guide until you have harvested your fill of spider silk then guide you out. My favorite color is dark green. My allies in the forest would be my family the Silv we are within the House of Ballads, a few faieries, pixies, and several unicorns. Working as your guide will give me prestige and as long as you don't destroy the place I should gain some more. There are several places I could take part or all of your group, I will go into more detail as we walk." The fey relays mostly to Jellena. Then he pipes up about Garret's new ability, "Oh your ability is tied to the forest so unless we do some transplanting, it will only work in the forest."

Orik wonders if there is anything of worth in the room that could be pillaged, especially those two kukris on the main statue. Are they actual weapons or just pictures?

Since there does not appear to be any threats coming, he walks around the room looking for wealth.

He simply stands alert at the door ready to act if he hears anything, acting the part of the mercenary protector.

Orik asks her a small favor, "I want to make sure that she is dead, you detect magic and start trying to figure out what the items are, I will be taking her head." Once that grisly task is taken care of Orik keeps the head until at the library. He throws it in a corner and then leads Selena back to the temple.

If possible Orik is kinda scared of Nualia, he would sheath his own sword, take the sheath off her corpse and Coup de Grace her taking her head with her own sword to make sure she is dead.

With the ounce of bravery still in his mind, he flees with Selena ahead of him, his fear addled mind still knowing protection in numbers.

Back, but running away galently for the next week perhaps...

"Die beast!" Orik growls out at the yeth hound as he attempts to cut it in two.

I can't drop shield, that is a move action. It is strapped to my arm, or at least has some sort of brace that my arm goes into. But I guess I can do more things when panicked! ;)

Orik picks up his bastard sword with renewed vigor not seeing what he was so afraid of, 'I must show that I can be of worth!' Orik thinks to himself. With the sword in his two hands he tries bringing it down upon the yeth hound.

I am confused, my Round 1 actions were over, when panicked or feared do I get extra actions?

Wouldn't I just drop my weapon, then next round Seldon would cast the remove Fear spell on me which means I am there next to the two threats.

Whatever you tell me what to do.

No worries Seldon, I the player know that you are low and spells and Orik knows that too now.

Still he can grumble to himself. He has been staying right next to you hoping for healing, but it was not bad enough to ask for help, hopefully he wont be downed like Thorn, decapated in the first round.

He bull rushed the yeth hound thinking it would be best to give Tunder room to shoot it.

Orik moves into the room hoping to do some damage but seeing the position of the enemy and knowing the rogue's plan goes for a bull rush to pull any Attack of Opportunity, smashing his shield into the hound.

Grumbling in his head that the cleric still did not heal him, but nothing can be done about it, they still don't trust him.

Orik stays ahead of the cleric, ready to swing at anything demonic if they pop up. He is grim and quiet.
