Hey guys, really sorry to do this again, but I need to take a break from the boards. I will let you know when things settle down...I will probably be back in a few months.

"Rest. And just throwing it out there as an option, killing them all." she offered, deadly serious.

Finally emerging from the shadows (but not before slipping her assassination dagger back up her sleeve) Nilelane shrugs and performs a yawn. "Why not?"

Hey, I'm still here. She was lurking in the shadows so I didn't have much to add. I admit I've been a bit less inspired these days.

Nilelane hung back in the concealing shadows of the dungeon entrance, ready to assassinate whichever goblin volunteered to die first.

Nilelane prepared to chuck a dagger into the face of the first goblin to round the corner...

Holding attack, similar to Ready action if possible.

Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Dagger: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Is my dropped lantern still illuminating a portion of the hall, or did it snuff when dropped?

Nilelane was happy to put Terion between her body and the whistling slingstones, ready to retreat and approach the hostiles from a more advantageous position...

Hmm, looking at his other games it seems hes been gone about a week. We might need to recruit a fighter, or I could switch to one temporarily or something I suppose (would prefer to play thief).

We were unclear on how the spell worked. Does the protective field stay centered on the caster? If so, we lead goblins here to the field. If not, we go attack (presumably).

edit: Oh, maybe you answered already?

At Sarn's explanation "The goblins are too craven to charge us here and attack...however someone could perhaps pretend to be wounded and frail, and lure them into our defensible position here as an ambush..." the rogue pondered outloud.

Nilelane dropped her lamp, immediately spinning on her heels and routing back behind the party...

Listen: 1d6 ⇒ 6

A cave moth flies directly into Nilelanes ear-cavity, causing her to pause a step and remove the bumbling, intrusive insect.

Same way she was going before. Unsure because map is cutoff and I can't see where I am, but I think west maybe.

The rogue left the security feature alone for the moment, unsure of the threat kept within. She continued down further...

Listen: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Sleeping outside the previous night gave Nilelane a slight ear infection.

Directly west of the door to kennel room.

Is that a collapsed hall just to the left of the door we are at right now? If not, will probe down that hall. Otherwise, next closest door down and west.

Stealthily and carefully probing the floors, Nilelane crept through the haphazard tunnels...

Nilelane examined the leash and belt more closely, trying to guess what sized creature would fit. If the metal buckles were still in good condition, she would take it along...just in case they needed to capture whatever 'prisoner' escaped here.

The thief shrugged "Was worth a look. Let's get moving..." heading on to the door to the south and giving it the familiar 5 point trap check. She also cupped her hand and listened at the door for a moment...

"Hmm...no idea." Nilelane gazed at what was ostensibly a storage room. "But it's also a lure. Let me eye for wires first..." advancing slowly, scanning the inventory and checking for traps...

Search: 1d6 ⇒ 3 no

Yes, sorry I wasn't sure that completely ended the encounter.

Nilelane chippered from above, nodding at the suggestion. The climber took a hand and dipped it into a chalk bag at her belt, her fingertips dust, before adjusting her 4-point hold into an intense one-handed grip. She adjusted this position minutely before contorting her neck backwards acrobatically, almost sickly from a physiological standpoint...eyes fixed on the hundred ahead. She produced a yellowed glass flask from her vest, preparing to launch it at the horde the moment they were in range...

Not throwing it at them, but a little ahead of them. Because someone has to throw a torch or something to light it.

lol, nice.

Hmm, I don't have much for against a swarm except more oil. Then again not sure how swarms work in this system.

Nilelane climbs the wall like a lizard, somehow wedging herself up in the top left corner of the corridor.

Nilelane took a knee near the door, executing a quick 5-point search of the hinges, keyhole, upper and lower jamb slips and latch. She knew sloppy goblins weren't the only things around here.

Search: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Motioning back to Terion she made a snippy-snip-snip in the air with her fingers followed by a thumbs up...the all clear sign.

Nilelane carefully resets the trap offering with a smirk "Ladies first..." to allow the men to pass by before she seals the panel behind them again.

Moving on, pole-tappin'.

The footpad nodded "Yes, or rig something new altogether...its a good bottleneck here. Well, assuming there's not another concealed exit we don't know about..." glancing back at the walls of the lost forge.

She'll search the anvil room to verify that its a dead end after examining the trap.

Nilelane attempted to dilute the surging adrenaline through her muscles with careful reason and pragmaticism. "A good defensible room here...maybe I could salvage what's left of that hidden slicer..."

Did the trap reset, or is it sprung and harmless? Could I tinker another percentage of parts for trapkit?

*Click!*

In an instant her stomach sank a thousand leagues, and time froze.

The trigger had been pulled and she knew she only had a split second to live. In that scrambled state of mind, the thief produced for herself two options...immediately flee and dodge whatever horrible lethal hell was already heading her way, or stand still and hope there was still time before the mechanism below was fully engaged.

Nilelane had abandoned hope a long time ago.

Time flowed again and with nearly supernatural agility the thief was already in the air, tumbling backwards with heightened senses pinpointing every hint of poison dart, falling stone, or razor spear. She would trust only her reflexive instinct to protect her body from the peril she had activated...raw survival exploiting grace.

Backflip out the passage.

Nilelane brushed Din's fingers aside "Hold on, its probably trapped..." but slipped on a goblin lugee causing both their hands to punch the well-made panel through. After not dying instantly she shrugged "I suppose that works as well. Thanks for the help..." a slight hint of sarcasm as she entered the secret passage.

Oh, I noticed that smudge as well on the grid map, but that wasn't what I meant. I was talking about the goblin map with the dirt background. I was thinking we were top-center on that map, the room just east of the room with the face on it connected by the double arrows.

I really thought there would be a secret passage there. I suppose I misinterpreted the goblin map, was thinking we came in north center near the 'faceless' room touching the arrow-tipped line.

One question, what are the walls like so far and how high is the ceiling?

"Alright...I think this is it..." checking the wall for the secret panel. On the map, looks like its the left hand (west) wall?

Sorry guys missed the post last night and wont be able to update until after work (6 hours).

Ok, as per discussion I have a lantern and some oil. Don't mind scouting, again not going beyond 90 ft from party and probing with 10 ft pole. Nilelane would set the lantern down and stealth around just outside the light radius, concealing the light as much as is possible. Let me know what you need me to roll.

What the heck happened with my inventory...dang, sorry. I must've posted it in my profile and then the site glitched or something. I see the post when I asked about the equipment list, and the followup DM post giving the link and me favoriting it. I also remember looking through the list and organizing it in a google sheets. DM if allowed, I'd like to add a few things to my inventory at this point and pretend I've had them since town:

Starting with 10 coppers. Rewarded with 30 silvers for first fight. Then,

oil (x3) 6
lantern 10
crowbar 10
rope 1
pole 1
==>28 silvers spent.
2 silvers 10 coppers on hand.

1 oil spent.

I'd love to be forward scout, sure. However, big wtf right now...I have no light source. I could have sworn I made some equipment purchases after the first fight and had a lantern and oil to throw at the campfire earlier and such...but I cant find it now! Anyways, if someone has at least a candle I'll head in.

Nilelane is waiting to surprise attack if the sh*t hits the fan.

Rising and shining: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Nilelane bumbled awake, hearing the unknown voices and immediately playing dead...she let a dagger quietly slide down her sleeve into her palm...ready to send it puncturing the throat of the first bastard to get near her.

Sleight: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Nilelane would be near the fire I suppose, knowing she had to get up soon anyways for her watch.

Eggs and Bakey: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Not wakey wakey

"Get the f*ck off me!" she screamed, stabbing the air repeatedly with an empty hand gripping an invisible dirk. Obviously in some kind of nightmare. An instant later "Zzzzzzz..."

*hwUGH*

Nilelane crashed to the ground, a half-eaten sac of crackers breaking her fall. "...eh, went stiff a bit. When we moving in?" At the news they would remain in this curious location outside the dungeon even further, she was a bit crestfallen, but eventually nodded...it wasn't the right time to cause problems for the group. "I'll take second."

Not for me, she will comfortably stay atheist. :) Just saying, its a great little system of gods imo if you've read the graphic novels and intuit the lore.

I used the pantheon from Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels (the Endless) for an old homebrew setting. Pretty interesting with their rich history and interactions. Dream, Despair, Destruction, Desire, Delirium (formerly Delight), Death, Destiny.

She had come down to investigate the tent and tinker etc. But if we are bringing the dwarves back out to eat our meal, yes back to tree.

Ahh, ok. Yeah I was thinking something more like all metal with bearings, turn-crank, and maybe even a gear ratio to increase torque.

Thanks I was just trying to think up some ways to use Tinker.

DM wrote:
...the grain grinder is a pretty bulky and heavy object..

DM, I was looking at some old-style hand crank grain grinders. They seem to have a bunch of mechanical parts, and some not-nice-to-put-fingers-in shredders. I was wondering if, in the time they were foraging, Nilelane could disassemble it (tinker) and create a trap kit. Or, maybe she could create 20% of a trap kit and finish it with other stuff found later?

Nilelane comes out of the tent with a mouthful of crackers and jerky "*mmpf chomp chomp* ...something about foraging for food?"

Fine with everything discussed, Nilelane doesn't have much outdoors skill though.

Nilelane raised an eyebrow, slinking over towards the tent and giving it a precautionary search for traps before looting it of its contents.
