Isabel casts a spell and touches Silas, boosting his power. Then she takes the illithid's shadow in both hands and twists it. (1&2)Cast Herosim on Silas; (3)Sustain Steal Shadow. Negative damage, basic Fort save DC=26: 3d4 ⇒ (2, 2, 3) = 7 Silas gets +1 to attack rolls/saves/skill checks. Also, Skarvek's HP total did not get updated with the 38 points of healing
OK, here goes: roll 1: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9
Asim background gives END+1 and EDU-1. Arranging these, with the Asim modifiers, I get: STR 7
After reading through the Player's Guide for the campaign, I am leaning towards a human from Asim. My early envisioning is a low EDU, self-taught, but intuitive tinkerer and mechanic type...but we will see where things go with character creation. I am good to get rolling with character creation Friday. The core rulebook I ordered should be arriving tomorrow.
So I'm looking through the Pathfinder rules, and I'm not seeing what skill would be used to imitate someone else's voice. The Disguise skill obviously covers looking like someone else, but says nothing about sounding like them. I'd be inclined to use the Disguise skill for this (it's already a pretty narrow skill), but I could see the Bluff skill as a possibility as well. How would you rule it, Scott?
Over the winter, Aristu pens a letter to his father. The tone of the letter is formal, and it details the fight against the trolls. Towards the end of the letter, he complains of the dearth of well-trained horses in the Sword Marches, and asks if his father would be willing - come spring - to sell him Dart and Blaze, the two light warhorses that Alister and Aristu trainied on as young men. Another letter, lighter and more familiar in tone, is written to Ariel. It lets her know that he and Alister are well, and summarizes events in the Sword Marches by focusing on the more heroic exploits of the Commissioners. Finally, he works to replenish his magical supplies. Specifically he attempts to obtain scrolls with the following spells:
as well as 2 potions of Cure Light Wounds. He will get what he can from the merchants of Stagfell. What he can't find there, he will send to Leveton to see what Olaf can acquire.
Ahran watches the troll as it charges out the door. He notes the wandering left eye and the spot under each arm where two thick muscles meet. Stepping forward he feints toward the troll's head before slashing at the weak point on its left side. Study target on troll for +2 to hit/damage; 5' step: SE; attack troll with family blade blade attack + studied target + inspire courage: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 28
Yowza!
Dain peeks into the first boudoir, and wrinkles his nose - not in protest of the sights or smells, but in response to the childhood memories the room evoked in him. While the others continue to inspect the boudoirs, Dain and Magill explore the entry room more thoroughly - searching through the leaves and refuse. Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 Did our research tell us what the all-key looks like?
Question #7: Dain continues to live in the Warrens, as he has his entire life. He spent his adolescent years living on the streets and finding shelter where he could. Since he has been adventuring with the others, he has made enough money to buy a permanent spot in the Warrens where it's needy denizens can find him. He occasionally will take an extended rental at the Ghostly Minstrel Question #8: Dain has never had a romantic involvement. From time to time he has had crushes on women from the Warrens, but - due to his lonely social status and offputting social skills - these have been thoroughly unrequited. Question #9: Dain is used to feeling the presence of the city's spirits around him at all times. They may not always manifest themselves audibly or visually, but even so he can feel them as they move about the streets around him. It was only a few years ago that Dain first found himself in the Temple District, as he walked along the streets, marveling at the sights, he approached St. Valien's Cathedral. As he approached, a strange feeling overcame him, giving him goosebumps. It took only a moment for him to realize that he couldn't feel any spirits nearby. The odd feeling of disconnection made him turn around retreat. It made him feel so uncomfortable that he has never returned to the Temple district.
Ok. I suspected that would be the case. Mostly what I liked about the Shaman was the flavor and the spirit animal. I'm sure I can map the flavor onto an oracle or cleric without much problem. I'll see if I can reasonably get a "spirit animal" with one of those classes by adding a familiar or animal companion somehow (a feat perhaps)
Ok, i've got some ideas for an ex-gladiator that would work as a fighter or a brawler and would cover our front line melee slot if needed (there's got to be an arena of some sort in a city the size of Ptolus, right?). Warpriest also sparks some ideas. Having never played one, I'm curious, would that class be able to fulfill our front line melee needs? Our divine caster needs? Both? Neither? |
