Aaah! Hide! The executioner is coming in 6 hours! (Luckily, I didnt' enter.) I wrote 14,000 words in a fantasy-adventure novel this November. Only excuse I can think of that is true for not entering.
I wrote 14,000 words this November in a super-awesome fantasy adventure novel for a class project. That's the only excuse I can conjure up (but it's true!)
10 (almost) hours left. No I didn't enter this year, but I still like to count.
Alexander MacLeod was my favorite coming in, but unfortunately his entry just didn't catch my eye. Now I might surprise most of you on this one, but my vote goes to...
EDIT: OMG. I just got my vote in. I had ten seconds and thankfully my computer was fast! Phew!

Name (64pts)

Interesting name. Very nice. Catchy.
Writing (36pts)
Well written in general, interesting, etc.
As Drakli said, the writing bugs me. That's all I can say.
Map (100pts)
Useful, read-able, clear, etc.
Read-Able: definently. Clear: can't be more clear then that!
Useful: Really useful. This is a slice of awesomeness! 100 PTS! Yeah!
That's what I'm talkin' about! (Ok maybe I'm going a little overboard).
Creature (81pts)
Surprising, well-used, etc.
Bingo. Well-used, well developed, surprising.
General (81pts)
Anything I didn't mention above
I didn't like the hag part but I love the map, the name, and the creature use. I love it! You've got my vote!

I am not a fan of this name. Sadly, I am going to hand out 1 point only for this.
Writing (81pts)
Well written in general, interesting, etc.
Nice flow, not choppy, nice vocabulary, interesting.
Map (1pt)
Useful, read-able, clear, etc.
Whoopelai. Big miss here. Lack in detail, no grid, and I have to ask you, did you use MS Paint? Because MS Paint is NOT the tool to use to make maps. Stairs in to the wall, it doesn't look like a winery at all. Huge miss. Sorry.
Creature (25pts)
Surprising, well-used, etc.
I don't know why an ardorwesp would be hiding in a lost winery, but I guess it works.
EDIT: Ardowesp? Ardowesp? Who invented the ardowesp. Point deduction for speeling a creature name wrong.
General (25pts)
Anything I didn't mention above
No momentum, I read this one last because of the poor name, sorry. It's not getting my vote. But what do I know? I'm just 10.

Not the best writing, but I love the history theme and description.

First impression: Lavender's a- uh...- interesting color... heh...heh.
Ok... I love the 3D view in there... but the old-school type was a little overboard... not very well done. Sorry.
Creature (25pts)
Surprising, well-used, etc.
Yes it's surprising, no it's not well used. Golem in a room. Simple. TOO simple.
General (25pts)
Anything I didn't mention above
It would give a player great frustration to have the golem as the only thing to get killed by. Defeat the golem, win the game. Not exciting. Sorry. Grabbing name, interesting description, weird map, poor creature use, just not enough to get my vote. But what do I know? I'm only 10.

[yawn] Golem in room, golem in room. Golem in a room. Simple. TOO simple.
General (49pts)

Wasn't very excited to read this one. The name wasn't attractive, it was a golem in a room adventure, but the writing was so good. It's not gonna be enough. Sorry. No vote. But hey! What do I know? I’m just ten, you know.

Oh boy, here comes the tough part. It wasn't THAT well written I didn't finish reading the whole thing, it's just not 'Superstar'.
Map (16pts)

Clear: Yes. Useful: Kind of. Clear: There really wasn't much to read. You have to read the description to know what the map means. If someone just has the map, it's not all that useful.

Very well written. Period. Juicy words. I had this adventurous feeling about your writing. Awesome.
Map (49pts)

I'm on the fence on this one. I like the colorfulness, even though it shouldn't matter if it's colorful or not. I think that it's a great map, but only because it's colorful. Mr.Bruck, you have got away from getting 0 points. You've got 49pts.
Creature (36pts)
Surprising, well-used, etc.
Again I'm on the hook. I like the super surprising feeling, but as Clark pointed out, this is a 'monsters attack' encounter. You're less lucky here.
General (81pts)

I liked the gut-stone, I liked the Chymick and really, that made me want to read this. The ‘monsters attack’ theme lost you some points, but the writing makes up for that. Congratulations, you've received my last vote.

This would be 72.000 GP so this item is greatly underpriced.
I appreciate more comments on my item. The more, the better!
But I have a question regarding the "greatly underpriced" matter.
How is this underpriced?
Maybe it's underpriced by a 1000, by 2000, but by 10.000+? I'm lost.
Would you please explain why it's underpriced?
P.S My dad helped me a lot with my math, so if it IS underpriced, blame him. ;)
P.S.S I'm 9 BTW.
Edit: Make that 10. 20 minutes ago I turned 10.
Hi, Mr. Peterson, it was really fun joining this year too. I can’t wait to join (and hopefully make the top 32) next year!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------
Bell of Lost Moments
Aura strong enchantment; CL 13th
Slot ---; Price 19,800 gp; Weight 1½ lbs.
Description
The bell of lost moments is a bronze hand-held bell. Ringing this bell will paralyze all humanoids within 30 feet except for the ringer (Will DC 20 negates). Creatures who cannot hear are not affected by the bell. Those affected gain the paralyzed condition for 2d4 rounds. After 2d4 rounds, those affected cannot remember anything that happened during that period. The bell sounds like a high-pitched chime that lasts for about 5 seconds. The bell can only be rung once every 24 hours.
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item; hold person, mass; daze person; Cost 9,900 gp
BTW, I have to admit, I thought I had a chance. Please give me your thoughts, and if you need to criticize the item harshly, go ahead. I really want to know what was the problem.

The rest of us just have some rather cryptic comments to guess if we personally might have made it or not.
And if you need something to do, Clark, you could always review some more of last year's items, or post a gag item yourself.. ;)
Charles, I have no way at all to even guess who might have submitted the advancing items. Not even an educated guess. Literally, I'm clueless who submitted what. We dont even bother to try to guess. There's just nothing to go on. Heck, Clark can't even win at "spot the nine-year-old's entry". Shame, shame, Mr. Peterson. ;)
I would also like to thank the judges. They have (and are doing) an excellent job at managing to go through 900+ wondrous item entries.

In the previous years I believe you could vote for 2 or 4 contestants? Does this mean we will be only voting once per round? I guess this means that the tasks will be quite different.
BTW, when does Neil's adventure come out? (No rush, Neil)
I've entered my wondrous item. Good luck to all!
I've written for the fanzine. I would assume that I am eligible, right?

Just for fun, I did the play-by-play this time. Sorry Dad :D
Ehlissa's horse gets moving, (Applause from the crowd) and they both charge. Kornelius' horse, Sting charges as if some kind of magic had been put upon him. Fleetfoot is distracted from the applause and moves in a fairly indirect path. Kornelius' lance strikes his target hard. Ehlissa misses and is knocked from her horse.

Well, it makes sense that your two younger kids want to destroy everything in sight, as that was something I wanted to do in my first D&D games. Make it simple, tell them which monster are best to kill before the start of the game, and as they get older (the two younger ones) make it harder and harder.
Advice from a youth.
