I didn't factor that in, no; thanks for the reminder. It wasn't necessary, however; she got to exactly where she wanted to be even if she hadn't been hasted.
Mun isn't really an offensive-spell build; he's built around buffing Selune and sending her in. To that end, I've just done that with an air-walk spell; the green demon should at least be engaged moving forward, though I doubt Selune will be very good against the DR that it likely has. With her mirror images, she at least should be equally hard to hit, so should occupy its attention well.
Mun moves into the room, initially planning on just stopping inside the door, but he has to move farther in due to the clump of Pathfinders. "We can't cluster like this; we're one fireball away from doom!" he warns as he passes.
He readies a spell for Selune, then gets her attention, calling her to him for a spell, then pointing at the demon on the landing. Uncharacteristically using words instead of his usual kicks, pulls, and nudges, he commands his bear to attack. "You've got to take that one out, Selune! Do it fast!!!"
He doesn't show it, but for all the times he's received a mission briefing from Ollysta, Mun is a bit star-struck to find himself fighting beside the illustrious head of his faction!
Actions:
Move: 20' Standard: readied action to cast air walk on Selune when she is within range Free: Handle Animal (receive spell-air walk) DC 12, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12 Free: Handle Animal (attack any target) DC 12, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12
I think this should all work with both Mun and Selune's actions this round. PCs are allowed to take more than one free action per round, so Mun can deliver both commands this round. By using a readied action, Mun should be able to cast air walk as Selune passes him by on her way to the demon; the intertwining of their actions between their individual turns should be legal in that sense.
I think I covered all the bases here. (I hope I covered all the bases here!)
Does Mun have line of sight through the two doorways, or is it too high to see from where he is?
Mun calls out as he holds open the back door, letting the other through as he prays for their victory. "Ashava, this may be my greatest test. Hear me now!!! I offer you this, my prayer, for your glory through our actions, and our enemy's demise!!!"
He clumsily holds out the empty prism, still getting used to the bulky leather suit.
Actions:
Standard: cast prayer Move: hold out empty prism for give away or exchange
Prayer: You bring special favor upon yourself and your allies while bringing disfavor to your enemies. You and each of your allies gain a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks, while each of your foes takes a –1 penalty on such rolls. (8/8 rounds remain)
Oh, Mun's actually the worst recharger. He should switch with somebody!
He'll likely cast prayer first thing, so staying in the back is the right play for him. Could he swap prism's with someone as they pass him with a move action (i.e. move action from Mun to grab the other prism, move action from the other person to grab the empty from Mun?
@GM, since Mun has the empty prism, can I get a refresher on how to recharge it? Mun has healing spells at every spell level, so is probably the right one for it anyway. Thanks!
Mun reaches down to pick up the last prism from Ghalcor's body, the steps forward and opens the door.
Actions:
Move: pick up prism 5' step Standard (move-equivalent): open door
Mun's round of actions is not technically done yet; he may issue a command to Selune (a free action), but that depends on what is seen after opening the door.
Edit: after looking at the map, I see that he likely just sees another door, unless that's already open. So someone else probably needs to act to open the second door, which means that Mun's opportunity to issue a command to Selune will have passed by then. That's okay too.
"I'll grab the other prism on my way in." Mun notes, shifting his shoulders inside the heavy leather suit to make it settle on his lanky form better. He turns to Ash, hoping the man's confusion had worn out.
Rather than drag it out with magic from a healing wand, Mun reaches out directly to his patron, drawing an intense amount of divine energy that he channels into Ash's prone form.
He then moves closer to the body, ready to pick up the prism when the party opens the door.
I'm heading out today for a weekend trip; I likely won't be able to post again until Monday. Feel free to bot me as you need!
Mun's priority will be a proper donning of his suit, then he can switch back to healing. If combat is pressing, all oracles have the cure spell at each spell level; he can use those on Ash and Selune instead of his wand if he needs to get the healing done quickly.
FYI, it sounds like that weapon has the potential to harm Mun. In addition to being CN instead of CG due to a curse, Mun has an evil item in his possession (the ioun stone that cursed him and changed his alignement), and an evil tattoo on his flesh. The suit is his #1 priority just for survival reasons.
Happy to help get Ash up once Mun is suited up, though!
"And the suits? The Mendevian Crusade welcomes all warriors, even if they are not truly devout and pure of heart. Those suits help to shield our less zealous allies against my weapon.”
Mun's mind immediately jumps to several places at once. Though his intent was recovery, he knew he wasn't there. His actions lately had been less-than-good, and he'd made some choices--all justified in the context of a mission, of course--that left him with evil not only among his possessions, but literally tattooed on his flesh. It didn't look like he would get a chance to interrogate the holy, ghostly warrior about the specifics of what the weapon could do to someone in his position....
Without speaking any of his concerns aloud, Mun just acts. He interrupts the healing he's been working on and rushes to the rack of suits, scrambling to put one on. May or may not resume healing, depending on how long it takes to suit up and what's happening on the battlefield when he's done.
Once his questions are answered--assuming they prompt no further questions--Mun gets down to healing. He uses his own wand on himself and Selune, and is happy to use anybody else's wand on them. Let me know if you need healing beyond what you have for yourself. Mun's trying to be better; he might even use his own charges on you!
As the spirit is fading, Mun has no time to try to comfort Xiao. "Ghalcor, wait; we have questions! As Malik said, what does the weapon do?" He quickly looks around the room, not having had a good chance to study it as combat broke out so quickly. He notes the rack with the heavy leather suits. "What are these suits for? Do we have to wear them to use the weapon?"
Got some back-and-forth actions in this post, so posting both Mun and Selune under the same post.
Selune returns to Mun with the arrow he pointed out; Mun takes it from her and immediately points out another, nudging Selune towards it with a rough boot to her rump. Selune happily ambles off towards the final arrow.
Mun has one ghost salt arrow, and should have the final one next round. He'll be working on getting both those into Myth's hands next round.
Actions:
Move (Selune): return to Mun with arrow Move (Mun): grab arrow from Selune Standard (Mun; move-equivalent): look for final arrow Free (Mun): Handle Animal (fetch) DC 12, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12
[ooc]Standard (Selune; move-equivalent): move to final arrow
Mun scans the area for still-intact arrows, and points one out to Selune. Mun has enough actions to still do this along with his dispel
Something about the low-key battering Ash and Derpi had been doing to each other had escaped Mun's attention--so engrossed he was in dealing with the allip--but when Mun catches Derpi firing magic missiles at an ally, he knows that something needs to be done, and now!
"Ashava, set these minds right!" he calls out, focusing another dispel magic, this time targeting the confusion affecting Derpi.
Retcon Actions:
Move: look for arrow Free: Handle Animal rolled above Standard: cast dispel magic, targeting the confusion effect on Derpi
This is my first time seeing a confusion lock. It makes perfect sense in the rules, and I'm sorry that I didn't realize how bad it was until now. Definitely dropping a dispel magic on Derpi next round!
Does Mun have the 'Purifier' boon from the Silver Crusade faction card (the one which gives a bonus to caster level checks to remove conditions)?
Yes, he does! He has it with 5 goals on Season 9 and an additional 2 goals on Season 8 (which counts as +1 goal towards Season 9), so a functional 6 goals for a +3 bonus. Good thinking!
Will DC 21, obedience:1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 4 = 28Mun's nexus crystal absorbs the 7 points of damage remaining after the save
Mun resists the wave of negative energy, his nexus crystal absorbing everything that he himself can't handle.
His eyes begin darting around the two rooms, looking for any of Myth's enchanted arrows that he can find. When he spots one, he calls out to Selune to go fetch it, then keeps looking for more.
Actions:
Move: look for arrow Free: Handle Animal (fetch) DC 12, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12 Standard (move-equivalent): look for arrow
The previous attack was Myth’s next to last ghost salt arrow…this is his last…
50% chance any misses have survived and can be reused. Myth is much better behind the bow than Mun will ever be; GM, what would it take for Mun to collect any of Myth's ghost salt arrows that missed?
After reviewing the posts, this is what I understand: Round 1: 3 fired, 2 hit, 1 potentially available to harvest Round 2: 4 fired, some(?) hit, some(?) potentially available to harvest Round 3: 1 fired, 1 hit Round 4: 0 fired Round 5: 1 fired, 0 hit, 1 potentially available to harvest Round 6: 1 fired, 1 hit
So, 2+ (depending on results of round 2; how many of the 4 arrows hit was not clear from the roundup post) should be on the ground somewhere, each with a 50% chance to still be useable.
Will DC 21, obedience:1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 4 = 16
Mun is unable to resist the blast of negative energy the allip sends out, but his nexus crystal absorbs the worst of it.
Nexus Crystal:
Ruins of Bonekeep, Level One: The Silent Grave wrote:
Nexus Crystal (Minor Artifact)
Aura moderate necromancy; CL 12th
Slot none; Weight 1/2 lb.
Description
This black crystal feels cold to the touch. Simply carrying this crystal provides protection against negative energy. Whenever the bearer takes damage from negative energy, such as channel energy or an inflict spell, she takes 10 less points of damage. This reduction is applied after any saving throw is made. The crystal may possess other powers, but they are unknown at this time.
Destruction
The means of destroying this crystal are unknown.
Mun redoubles his efforts and tries once more to free Myth from the confusion.
Recognizing that he needs more range, Mun drops his longspear and draws his bow, readying an attack on the allip wherever it might appear. He gives Selune a boot to the rear to urge the bear deeper into the room, knowing that will cover more potential wall entry-points.
Actions:
Free: drop longspear Move: draw +1 adaptive darkwood composite longbow Standard: readied attack vs allip if it appears within line of sight Free: Handle Animal (attack any) DC 10, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12
Not liking this one bit, Mun directs Selune into the other room, then prepares himself to strike at the allip if it appears within reach of his longspear.
Actions:
Free: handle animal (attack any) DC 10, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12 Standard: readied attack vs allip if it enters/appears in a threatened square (reach weapon)
Prayer: You and each of your allies gain a +1 luck bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saves, and skill checks, while each of your foes takes a –1 penalty on such rolls.
Mun quickly casts a spell, causing multiple identical duplicates of Selune to pop forth from her. "Destroy that thing!!!" he screams, quite literally terrified of the horrific creature. He pushes Selune forward with a rough boot to her rump.
[b]"An Allip; the remains of an unfortunate soul who fell to madness and despair, yet could not let go of his life's work! But this is no ordinary allip; it's much more powerful!" Mun blurts this instinctively, as soon as he recognizes the creature.
Marik would have used his heightened awareness when initiative was rolled (although I think from a practical point of view it would not change anything).
Same for Mun. It was in his header, but that always gets missed, so I just added to the quick-roll spoiler in the slide deck too.
That's a little bit the best of both worlds. He can use the wayfinder to get the first round of detect evil on the room, and then use the paladin version to get three rounds of info in a move action (I think?) on the items that need to be meticulously studied.
"Is it the corpse?" Mun asks Marik, slipping into the room cautiously with Selune in tow. He casts a spell that enhances both of the mismatched pair and awaits for either confirmation... or action.
Actions:
Free: Handle Animal (guard) DC 10, link:1 + 7 + 4 = 12 Move: 20' drawing longspear Standard: cast bull's strength on self and Selune with Improved Spell Sharing
Mun pulls Marik aside; it looks like he raises his tunic a bit to expose a small bit of his midsection.
Marik:
"Is this it?" he asks, exposing a dark brand in the shape of a seven-pointed star; the brand writhes under the surface as if a worm or some such traveled within it.
"I was undercover, investigating a Lissalan temple, and accepting this brand helped the mission... it--along with this ioun stone--is what's likely... twisted... my world-view recently, and what drove me to seek just such a mission as this. My soul needs me to do some truly good work for once."
"A couple?" Mun asks the halfling, seemingly confused. "I know of one... what do you see?"
Mun has an ioun stone he got from a chronicle sheet that is evil (and has shifted his alignment to CN from CG), but I'm not aware of another, so now I'm very intrigued.
Mun removes the prism from outside this room, and begins studying it. "If the prisms caused this... could they help heal it, too?" He casts detect magic as he examines it further.
Mun looks uncertain of his companions' ideas about their taint, but tries to back them up nonetheless. He grips his longspear and places his other hand between Selune's shoulder-blades nonetheless.
"If you seek a way out of this fiendish transformation, we will do all that we can to help you."
Mun spends some time going over the riddles and consulting with his recollection of the acts. After lots of consideration that involves muttering to himself, he nods his head. "That's as good a guess as I can work out. It's worth trying."
