The Imp and the Weasel strike again!

This was such a blast! And its so rare to actually finish an adventure in a PbP game that I hardly know what to do with myself now. It was way overpowered for Mheenah to be able to fly, turn invisible at will, and have DR and immunity to all poisons, but I suppose it helped move the plot along. We kinda raced through the dungeon crawl since Spirit and I could scout tunnels so quickly and avoid unnecessary fights.

Lingering questions -- were the people in the cells people who had resisted the naga's charm and therefore had to be sequestered? Did the naga try to charm our masters and failed, or did she have other plans for them? The scuttlebutt from town was that she had wanted to 'interrogate' them. About what?

Did that cleric we killed at the end bring the naga here and start all this? I'm guessing he was one of the fools from that Temple in Orlane?

Am I now higher level than my master? Or did I just give Elly a free level boost? Sitting in a jail cell is a *kind* of experience.

Elly and Mheenah would have no interest in remaining in a stupid farming village, no matter how revered we are here. We'd take our loot and go. Elly is only a kid and probably actually would want some downtime at home with mom and dad eating brownies and reading YA novels. She will soon romanticize her experience and build it into her personal goth drama of the week she spent in a naga slave dungeon undergoing all sorts of fetid and fascinating torture and humiliation. And I suspect a part of her will want to emulate the example of the naga, the dominatrix who controlled all she surveyed with her overpowering will. But she'd want to do it in a more interesting place and live someplace cooler than a muddy cave.

"Yeah, sure, why not?" says the quasit, who is very much basking in all the praise and hero-worship. She releases the other prisoners. She cocks a thumb at herself. "I ripped the naga lady's face off." she says proudly, sure that this will impress everyone.

Mheenah flutters down the hallway into the cell block, and looks at her mistress with undisguised glee.

"There ya are, ya knucklehead! See, yer parents was right, all that misbehaving and traipsing down the primrose path led ya to no good!" teases the quasit. "Now, how much'll ya give me to let ya outta there?"

"Hey! I think I found them!"

Mheenah tries to use the skeleton key in the sturdy locked door!

Mheenah will fly up and check the southern door.

"This guy and his pet zombie were all bent outta shape that we murdered the snake lady. He got feisty, so we had to discipline him. Well, kill him. But I gave him a chance to surrender and mend his evil ways, honest!"

Mheenah reappears, biting the cleric in the forehead, then sinking her claws into the flesh to rend his scalp away from his skull with her claws.

"Ow!... All right, I kinda had that one coming. But that's all you get!"

She turns invisible and flutters around behind the cleric, cackling all the while.

Fluttering in the air before the cleric's face, Mheenah exhales a huge and dramatic sigh and throws her tiny claws in the air in despair.

"There's that IMP thing again! Are all evil cultists just stupid? Do I need to wear a sign around my neck? 'Hello, I am Mheenah and I am a QUASIT not an IMP!'

She wags her finger at the cleric, scolding him like an errant schoolboy. "I am nothing like an imp! Imps are red and have big dumb noses, and I am a lovely svelte greenish black with understated yet noble features! How would you like it if I called you ORC? Hmmmm?? Have some respect for the person who murdered your goddess and your pet zombie."

Mheenah goes into a frenzy, biting and slashing at the undead creature for all she's worth.

Mheenah swoops down at the undead thing and bites it on its gross neck.

"See, even the weasel knows better than ta worship a treacherous snake woman." says Mheenah as she continues to dart invisibly about the room. "Look, I can tell you're just kinda dumb, so we ain't gonna hold it against ya for being a sap. Toss away the mace, de-animate the undead critter, and tell us what ol' Snakehips did with the four kids who was brought in here. And then we'll let ya live."

She then noisily hacks up a big goober, preparing to spit. "Oh, better hurry, this is a juicy one." she says crudely around the hunk of demon goo in her little mouth.

"I killed her. Does that make me the new goddess?" asks Mheenah impudently. She turns invisible and begins to fly around the room.

"Worrrrship me mortal! Worrrrrship me! Sssssss! Hahahaha!"

GM, Mheenah is at full health.

"Well that ain't very likely. A secret door that leads to nothing? Gotta be something in here."

She also moves into the secret hallway for a look around.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Ah, I misread the GM post. I thought the secret door led to the treasure hoard, but I see now that we haven't opened it yet.

"Oh yeah, and there's a secret door over there. That might be where she has the kids stashed."

Can we use that 2nd Perception check to look for traps on the secret door? If all looks kosher, Mheenah will try to open it. And if it's locked, she'll use the skeleton key.

"Ooh, good thing for us I'm a good jiggerer. Hey look, a key! I bet this is important."

She starts looking around in the treasure room for another secret door.

Mheenah should be fully healed from Mr Pitch's channel late in the fight

"Wow, look at all this loot! Ol' Snakehips was doin' ok for herself! Wonder if we can convince those thugs upstairs to carry it all home for us. Where are the kids though?"

Mheenah flutters back over to the naga and picks up the locket and studies it.

"Say what you like about her, but this IS a nice skull collection." says Mheenah as she kicks a few skulls around.

"C'mon, let's find the kids."

She starts searching for any clues for her Master.

If we wanna get technical, Spirit cast his spell before Mheenah acted, so her natural 1 would have become a 20, and her 10 would get a +10. But I realize that's a big ret-con, so I leave that to GM discretion.

Mheenah delays to let the wolf go first, then flies behind the naga and attacks, biting into her scaly spine.

Mheenah and Lorelei are ready.

"Fine, we'll take the boat." huffs the quasit, who is clearly annoyed at being grounded. "No sense scouting if I have to do it with my eyes shut."

She settles on one of the rails of the flatboat and begins to pick at her toe claws.

"Who knows? All we found is a buncha muddy tunnels an' stinky lizards. But there's somethin' bad goin' on down here. A blind man could see it."

"C'mon, you guys get in the boat with Lorelei and paddle across. Me and Spirit'll scout ahead."

"Let's go, Weasel!"

Mheenah goes invisible again and flies across the water to the far side of the cavern.

Mheenah rematerializes. "Well, look at you, ya meet all the best people down here! Mind the dinosaur! We was just about to hop in a boat and cross some kinda lake. Hey, Lorelei got some kinda poison up her snoot from a centipede, you got anything for that?"

She will accompany the druid back to the group.

"Tromping? Is that a word?" asks Mheenah. She turns invisible and flies off the way they came to investigate.

"C'mon you lugs, it's better'n swimmin'." says Mheenah.

Any oars or a pole for propelling this thing?

Several disturbingly human bones are scattered about, and four jaw bones have been driven into the dirt walls of the chamber.

"Oh no... is that... them?" asks Mheenah in a tremulous voice as she points at the 4 jaw bones. "Are we too late?"

Mheenah returns to the group and reappears.

"C'mon, it's ok! They buggered off somewhere!"

She leads the group back to the cavern and then to the Northwest Passage.

Which I guess makes the kids the Indies?

"Huh, that's funny, I smelled them down another passage back the other way." says the quasit. "You don't suppose there some big cavern fulla dozens of them stink lizards, do ya?"

"Lemme go see what we're dealin' with."

She turns invisible and flies off to check the far end of the corridor.

Mheenah fends off the tongue of the wolf with tiny windmill arms. "Quit it, will ya? Go slobber on the bird!"

Then she takes off into the air and follows Spirit. "Yeah. Probably." she says without enthusiasm.

Mheenah flies back to the group. She lands and turns visible and begins marching about in exasperation.

"Nothin'! This place is a stupid maze of mud and slime and bones and nothin'! Who'd want to live in a hole like this? Nagas are idiots!" She kicks at the muddy dirt of the floor, sending a tiny arcing shower of goop at the passage wall.

Mheenah moves off to explore the east passage first, moving up to the fork.

Mheenah continues to scout the south passage invisibly.

Mheenah flies south, exploring a different passage.

Mheenah flies back to her companions.

"Eh, it's just a bunch of zombies bucket-brigading the water out of this place. Like, maybe don't build your evil lair in a literal swamp? Sheesh."

"Anyway, that way is a dead end. But at least it tells us that there's no other deeper layers in this place. We're at the bottom."

"Do you think they have boats down here?"

"I dunno. Maybe." says Mheenah. She flies off to the right.

Mheenah flies out of the mud room and explores the north passage.

Mheenah buzzes around to get into a flanking position on the Teal centipede and attacks.

Mheenah licks at her wound with her sinuous prehensile tongue.

"Mmm. Tangy." she says approvingly before launching new attacks.

Mheenah doesn't pay too much attention to the muddy floor. She flutters all the way through the chamber for a glimpse out the other side.

"Wait. Did... did that thing just juju hex us? I can't believe it! That's my schtick! How revoltin'! C'mon, let's go back and give that no good zombie the what-for!"
