I hope you're right, because my species is awesome!

I am not ready to mourn anything until I hear that they're actually gone. Even then, I'm likely to keep my old Bestiaries around to keep using these things in my house game.

My main sorrow would be losing favorite NPCs from Organized Play. Hats the Otyugh was universally loved, and Biglock the mimic has been a major NPC throughout the current season. But I could see Biglock shapeshifting to something other than a chest if they let mimics hang around.

Does that mean that we will still see mimics and otyughs in Paizo adventures?

Oh dear, I just had a terrible thought. Are we going to lose mimics? No... my people!

Exactly. We monsters have completely solved the over-population problem. Now excuse me, I got to go be a door in a politician's office. It's time for brunch!

Alas, my player keeps on insisting on going to Pathfinder Society games... Battlezoo will just be out of my reach as a viable option! However, I will have to keep it in mind if we play another Adventure Path and kooky content is on the table.

Oh man, that'd be fun! I'd love to play a mimic who defaults to the standard treasure chest disguise even though they know it doesn't fool people anymore because "it's an ICONIC look!"

I know that I am late to the discussion on this, but a Mimic ancestry would be such fun. Maurice was an NPC of mine that showed up in PF1 games, and now in PFS we have Biglock the Mimic as a recurring character. Huzzah for mimics and other aberrations as player ancestries!

Speaking from the monster point of view...

We don't just want Pathfinders with good taste. We want Pathfinders that taste good! I especially appreciate it when other casters in the party coat their own melee warriors with the Grease spell. Buttery Bloodragers are the best!
