While you ponder the best course of action to take, a man comes into the room. He is younger, about 30 or so years old.

Uncle, may have have some gold to go peruse the magical goods shop?

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

I know you are in Idaho so please stay safe and warm. I am in SE WA so I know what gold is but luckily not that cold here yet.

Marcus will smile at Kaspeae as she takes the notes for him. He sleeps off and on, his head swirls all the things that have to be done for the families of Woodbridge.

The next day, he sees his friends off, Please be safe, and return quickly

He walks over to the Bread & Board, and sees the note Calex has attached to the door. After reading it, he smiles, but inside his head he wonders if he has bitten off more than he can chew, but stands up straight and goes inside to order a quick bite to eat.

After breakfast, he goes to find Kaspeae, and goes over the very organized list she made,

Thank you Kaspeae, I do appreciate all you have done not just for myself, but all the people of Woodbridge and those that have had to relocate here. Your kindness has been great, given the current times. I would like to go over the list you made, so I can try to prioritize the projects that need to be completed first.

I hope you had a good birthday :) Hoping that a list won't be too hard to create :)

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Sure, I can certainly stick arrow d if you will still have me :)

I figure I could help rebuild the shops, homes, etc. I could also craft new weapons for the group since finding what they want may be hit/miss. I could try to use my social skills to gather helpful/useful NPCs to join or assist.

Think Suikoden games of gathering the 108 stars idea

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Could I use my diolomacy skill to attempt to find a bard or druid to join them?

Once all the chaos has died down, and it appears safe. Marcus, rushes over to his home, hoping and praying along the way that his home isn't burned to cinders.

Once he has an answer, whatever it may be, he helps to ferry the Aladoan support army over the lake, into the hopefully safe Riverside Island.

He listens to the story, and looks to the others, Calex, Robert and Marwan, Thank you to all of you, for coming together in our village's time in need to repel the army that marched upon us. I am not skilled in martial arms nor do I possess any magical auras inside me. What I do know is the art of crafting. I will craft whatever I can, to lend my skill with whatever quest you may wish to embark on.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus looks over to where the fires are scorching the midnight black air. He wonders briefly if his home is one that is in flames, but is relieved to know that his father and mother are both safe.

I hope that my home is not one caught ablaze. At least we have our health, and the memories I can at least take with me, he ponders briefly.

He looks around, and sees that Mr. Panforey seems to be okay for the time being. He looks to the other more capable villagers, and briefly speaks up.

Everyone, I know that we are tired and some of use are beaten and bruised. The night is young, there are homes that are ablaze along the water front, most likely due to the retreating cowards. Those able to, I would like to get those fires put out, so that they don't have the possibility to spread farther inland. PLEASE, all able bodied people follow me and aid in the extinguishing of the fires.

Marcus, lets out a smirk as he sees a large plume of fire erupts in the sky near Auria's home.

I hope it took some of the invaders with it. Too bad she lost all that good liquor. She had some nice spiced rum I was told. The Bread and Board is looking better.

He hears Robert exclaim that Auria isn't here. He isn't too surprised as her liquor stash just went up as a large Molotov cocktail.

I just saw her house and her very extensive liquor collection go up in a gout of flame. I would expect her to be far away from that explosion, as she knows what her stash is like. If the Bread and Board is in good working condition, I agree with Calex about tending to to the injured. The more hands, the more likely we can make this town whole again

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Why, I have no idea and right ow don't care. They can't get across, the bridge was burned into the lake. We need to Bread & Board to keep morale up.

Marcuss, has a sinking feeling that the Bread & Board may be unable to be saalvaged. He than looks the the east, seeing if he can see to his own home's condition.

Marcus, seeing the enemy retreat back into the darkness breathes a large sigh of relief. He than turns his attention to the fallen who have risked their life for Woodbridge. He rushes over to the fallen Maetur, praying they are still alive.

Seeing them being attended to properly by Leto, he does a quick check to ensure all is well.

Somebody, get water on those fires! We have to stop as much of the fire as possible, and KEEP the inn up and working!

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

The just keep coming, and coming. Even the owlbear was able to finally get through the grease. Should we fallback?

Marcus, getting visibly worried that the forces trying to overtake Woodbridge may be too many to contain. He again, reloads his sling, and fires off a bullet at the nearest enemy.

Marcus, despite breathing heavily will load another billet into his sling. He lets it fly at the closest Orc.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus, lets his sling bullet fly, and he is happy he hit the enemy square on the jaw. He is pleased with himself, and forget to prepare himself for potential return fire. Marcus doesn't look up until it is to late, as he watches as a arrow hits his in the chest, to the left of his heart. The pain is excruciating, like nothing he has felt before. Even the forge fire was nothing like the pain of an arrow lodged in the chest.

Oww, holy crap that hurts, as he stumbles a bit backwards. He retaliates with a bullet of his own.

Marcus, seeing light spring forth from the darkness is now better able to take in the sight before him. His eyes go wide, as he sees the attacking force on the bridge. He reloads his sling, and send a stone towards an enemy not engaged with any of his Woodbridge allies.

Marcus starts running at full speed towards the bridge. His thoughts racing in his mind, Did the enemy get through our defenses already? I thought it was constructed pretty well. There was spikes, and deterrents. How could they have gotten through? Maybe they are huge like the large Furbolgh we encountered that one time?

Marcus continues to run, he looks back to see Calex trying to catch up, Marcus slows down long enough to let Calex go stride for stride with thehim.

In between strides, Marcus conveys to Calex, Calex, how did our blockades not hold? Did we do something wrong? Did we underestimate the enemy? Thank you for believing in me, should we not make it out of our home alive.

Marcus continues to run towards the bridge defenses, hoping he is not too late.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

I could have Marucs do a bunch of things, but was unsure if I was "allowed" in terms on initiative sequence or whatnot.

Marcus understands that time is few right now, seeing as the initial attacks has started. What should I do, do I have "free reign" so to speak to react how Marcus would or should I be more "traditional" if that makes sense?

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus, jumps at the thought of the bridge being under attack. He cannot help but wonder if the arrow he had not seen, be a "charge" order or a distraction.

Marwan, is right, are you okay. I want as few casualties as possible, so if you need aid speak up.

Marcus, runs at full speed towards the bridge, hoping to lend aid.

Full run if possible to get to the bridge

Marcus nods at Patricia, as all the stress finally catches up with him. He heads with a few Maetur and constructs a few bonfire like encampments around the village. He gets one constructed around the stage area, another at the epicenter between the Galihan, Woolorly, and Barrow homes. The final and third bonfire will be constructed between the Flaherty home and the Barrow home.

Once done, he helps to get Margie to make the slings, and as the sun begins to set, and he sees the work down by Margie and the others, he fights back a tear. Not a tear of sadness for the upcoming battle of their livelihood, but a tear of joy in seeing everyone come together for a common goal.

Marcus, will grab one of the young men, who had beat him in more than one foot race back in the day, and send him with Robert, to be the runner he needs for his plan.

Marcus, will grab his sling from the workshop, as well as the dagger and get ready for the fight. He goes around and does his best to keep everyone focused, composed, and vigil.

diplo?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

After doing his best to keep inner strength high, he heads over to his parent's house. He takes a quick walk around and in the home...in the unfortunate event the home he has grown up in and known all his life is destroyed by the invasion. He stays at the home, keeping his eyes trained on the land beyond the river for whatever resistance comes their way.

Marcus will listen to the idea of slings and using rocks as impromptu sling bullets. He scratches his head, I think the idea would work

I think we could make a few dozen or so slings to arm ourselves with the time afforded to us currently.

He looks to Patricia, than smiles, trying to stay positive at the situation. Well, I have tried to fortify us as best as possible. We have around 150 able bodied people; Maetur, Aladoan and Urandoman. I will distribute the longbows and arrows as equally among those who are most experienced with them. The slings, we can distribute to any of those 150 who are not armed with something more familiar

Marcus makes a large *sigh*, I know that most of the weapons we currently have, such as the long-handled axes and shortbow, may be awkward to wield, and I would like the Maetur to wield them as I feel it would be better a knowledgeable user wield it rather than an experienced user.

Marcus thinks for a moment, trying to recall any information he had picked up from mother's history lessons or or such tidbits. He tries to remember any defensive formation, or or defensive strategy to implement in the upcoming battle.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

weapon/ppl info:

Marcus is in control of eight short bows, three long bows, four small crossbows, six spears, twelve long handled axes, five short swords, and twenty small axes and long hunting knives. There are only seventy arrows in the village, and only 25 cross bow bolts. The village has three suits of leather armor, one of the Elven families of Lakeside has a chain mail shirt, and a Long bow with 10 arrows. About thirty farm implements (shovels, spades, and other tools) that can be used in a pinch

100 Urandomans able to bear arms in defense of Riverside, about 30 Maetaur, and maybe 20 Alodoans

Marcus, after placing out the small cache of weaponry, he goes around the now cramped place of Woodbridge. He takes a note of the various people who he feels could or would take up arms to protect Woodbridge; whether Urandomans, Aladoans, Gymnaga or Maetur.

He speaks with the various heads of household, wanting to gather support, ease the multitude of worries and cares of all involved, but also get a sense of what they feel most comfortable using to defend their homes and lives. Marcus, poses the same question to each family he visits, Would you be willing and able to take up arms in defense of our home. To fight back those that wish to invade our homes that we have spent years, lifetimes to make?

After talking with the last family, Marcus heads over to the Bread and Board, to get a bite to eat and mentally digest all he has learned over the past couple hours of talking with all that now call Woodbridge home.

Hmm, so, there are approximately 100 or so people able to take up arms in defense of Woodbridge. But at last count, there are far less weapons to be able to distribute between our defenses. I need to make sure the newcomers like Arvid, Leto, Robert and the others are properly equipped too as they will likely see combat. Hmm, this poses to be quite the challenge

He is engrosses in these thought, so much that he doesn't even notice Lulu refill his mug, or see the others come into the bar in search of food and drink. He takes a long sip from his mug. He set it down, and sees Robert, and a few others gather in the Bread and Board.

Wish to take a seat and enjoy food and drink. Oscar is the best cook around, just don't tell my mother I said such things, he says with a chuckle.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus will have a restless night sleep. He tosses and turns as his mind wanders from thought to thought. When will the attack happen? Are we prepared well enough? Will more reinforcements come in time?

After he wakes he takes stick of the various weapons and most importantly people available to him. He lays out the various weapons in groups to get a better idea of what he has. After an hour or so collecting and sorting, he sets out to gather all the able bodied individuals, regardless of Maetur; Aladoan or Gymnaga...he needs to know who is in fighting order. He doesn't want the children or elderly to have to take up arms if he can help. The elderly have earned the right to enjoy the later years of their life and the children are...well children.

What is the rough count and breakdown of able bodied to know the weapon:people ratio?

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus will have a sip of ale, as he addresses all after Patricia mentions others coming.

That is a relief, however could be too late depending on how events go in the coming days. I was able to construct a barricade on the bridge, as the rest of the village is surrounded by water. While they may come from the water, I am under the impression that they seem more overland bound than water bound.

He looks around, at the place he has called home for so long, than turns to address Marwan, could we have left...we could have tried. This knowledge of them coming is only a day or two old. I did not feel that trying to move everyone, both here and from the outskirts of the village in a day would have been nigh impossible. I felt it be best to make a stand and fight for our home than to run, and still get overrun by the enemy. At least here, we have the knowledge of the land, the buildings. Out there, we would be on equal footing, which I felt would be our downfall.

He looks at Oscar and Lulu, then back to Patricia, I have sought out advice from the elders here; Oscar, Lulu, Auria and others. Where is Diredon and Calex? Are they okay?

I almost forgot, I have a small cache of weapons and armor to properly arm us. I want to pass them out the the most skilled members of our village. I know that we may not have the most militarily organized people, but I want your help in determining who should wield what.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus gives Arvid a nod, We need all the help we can get. An extra leader could prove invaluable for us as I could never accomplish such a feat.

He than turns to Robert, [b]I very much appreciate the offer to guard the bridge, but I may need you for a moment at the inn as we settle the plans for fortification and possible retaliation in the future. If we finish early you are free to guard, but are not required to. [b]

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus rushes over, dagger in hand as he is unsure what he will be running into, he than sees Patricia Flaherty. A tear runs down his cheek as he is relieved to see her in a healthy condition given the current circumstances.

Patricia, I am relieved to see you here and in a very healthy state it seems. You must tell me everything you have seen and experienced while out there. Are there oth..., his mouth tries to keep up with the rate his mind is going. He than sees two others with her.

He raises a hand and extends it to both of the newcomers.

While, I am leery to be so open to anyone new coming into the village, if Patricia has given her her endorsement, than so will I. My name is Marcus Dale, 4th generation blacksmith to Woodbridge. I have been placed in charge by two very capable men, but only while Patricia was away. I would be happy to go over more, with all three of you, but would prefer to do it at the Bread & Board after we close the gate. Shall we head over before the sun set completely on our quaint village?

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus looks relieved to hear Ginny and Corky are willing to head to the mainland, even if only for one night.

If there is something we can bring back to the Bread and Board to make this night more bearable please let Robert and I know and we will. Thank you again for reconsidering.

One night is better than zero I suppose. Hopefully all of this will be sorted out by then

Marcus looks to Robert, I suggest we round up as many Riverside residents as possible and get them inland to safety. Again, I may need your help with words as you were very helpful here. I sometimes get going in my kind really fast but cannot translate that well to what comes out of my mouth.

Marcus gives Ginny a hug if she allows, and races off to continue "herding" fit lack of a better term the residents of Riverside.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Yes, any day..., are the only words he can muster, as the door to Ginny's home swings open. He instinctively puts his hands up as a shillelagh is waved about.

Ginny, it's me...Marcus., as he says out of fear because he remember what it is like to take a knock from Ginny's shillelagh to the back of the dome.

The reason we are both here is simple, we are worried about you and Corky. There are invaders marching this way, and we are trying to round up the people of Lakeside, to bring them inland to Riverside. I understand your apprehension to such a plan, but I urge to you to reconsider. I would not be able to live with myself should something happen to your or Corky

diplo: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Hmm, I hope that worked. I cannot tell if she is thinking hard about what I said. I hope Robert can lend a word to help her change her mind. I would hate to have to leave them here, as I gave Auria my word.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Woodbridge, Lakeside: The home of the widow MacNorra

Marcus, can feel a lump in his throat start to form. The thought of burying someone, regardless of who they are, or their age gets him choked up. He looks to the ominous sky above, he can feel sweat start to trickle down his cheek as the fellow villagers bicker and argue about what is best.

When he hears about Auria's remark of what moron left him in charge, he can feel anger start to rise forth. He responds with a bit of heat and fire, but quickly understands that such emotion will not help matters.

What MORON? The MORON you, as he takes a deep breath catching himself in the heat of the moment. The persons you are referring to is Diredon and Calex. The two, have given this village everything they have, and protected it from the start of this whole debacle of everything that is going down. They felt that I would be best to serve this village, as I and my family have built a strong bond with the residents here. While I may not have all the answer to everything, I know that I can turn to anyone here, Oscar, Lulu, you, for guidance to help make the best decisions I can for our village that may be under attack any day now.

He takes a moment to think of a plan, and decides on a solution.

I propose a solution to all of this. Allow me to speak to Ginny and her youngest Corkey. I wish for them to go to Riverside as much as both of you do. IF, they still refuse to come, than Mr. Panforey and, we should respect those wishes. Auria, I notice you agreed that she would be safer in Riverside, and I would ask you to help in trying to convince her that it would be best to travel inland so to speak. You fight against it because you care about her as much as we do.

diplomacy to defuse the Auria/Panforey issue: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Marcus lets the plan settle on the minds of Panforey and Auria, then looks to Auria, Regardless of the outcome to proceed here, Auria, Robert and I came to find you as you are needed back in Riverside. Old Connor O’Lehig is not doing well, and we are not sure why. You are the most experienced healer in the village who as seen a lot in your lifetime. Your wisdom and knowledge in invaluable to us, and we need it right now in Riverside. Please head back, Robert, myself and Rebecca if she wishes will continue getting the Lakside residents to understand the situation.

Mister Panforey nor Auria are at either residence. I sure hope they are at the MacNorra residence. If not...I am truly afraid for their safety, are the only thought that seem to take root in his mind as he travels from house to house. When he sees both people standing at the MacNorra home, he breathes a large sigh of relief, knowing they are both alive and well.

He sees pleading, and a slight degree of angst among the expression of Mister Panforey. He casually walks up to the two of them, wanting to know more of what is going on. When convenient, he interjects himself into the discussion.

Excuse me, Auria and Mister Panforey. What exactly is going on here? I would like to help if at all possible, as time of precious and of the essence.

Lets go Lakeside, maybe something will turn up, as he heads in that direction.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus must decide whom to try to locate first; Auria or Mr. Panforey.

Whjch is the closer locale to our current spot: MacNorra house or Auria's house?

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Chef

No...no, why would you say that Chef. I, I am just trying to get everything organized in the storage room sir. . He looks around and goes to move past you.

I will remember that Chef

Chef Vincent comes in as Marcus is just leaving the storage room. Marcus, uncharacteristically keeps going.

Chef Vincent looks at you then at Marcus.

Robert, I am afraid I am unsure where Mr. Panforey is. He was very vague about where he was going. Perhaps the Goodwells might know his whereabouts, they are good friends.

Marcus will grab his satchel and head towards the Goodwell residence.

Male Human Expert 3...HP 18/27 | AC 16 | TCH 13 | FLT 13 | F/R/W 2/4/3

Marcus looks at the various weapons laid out before him. he smiles, but the smile is present only to hide the worry he has on hid mind.

These are a start, but there won't be enough for every villager, and Maetur and other individual coming onto the island. I need to put these in the most capable hands, otherwise...

He is brought out of his thoughts, as Kaspeae starts talking to him. he listens as she talks about people helping out by allowing others to stay with them.

With Oscar, Lulu, and the other families taking in others, how many does that leave us to care for and provide shelter for? Will the makeshift tents be enough, I can use my father's shop if needed to support a family. I am sure my parents can take in a family or two in these days of dire straights.[b]

Marcus dwells on where Auria could possibly be, he knows she has been busy tending to the wounds of the Aladoan soldiers as well as those in the community.

[b]She needs to be found, especially since she will be needed to help tend the wounds when all hell breaks loose. Can you tell me where she was seen last?

After getting Auria's last known location, Marcus grabs a few able bodied people, he doesn't care if they are Gymnaga or Maetur. He heads with them to do his best to try and find Auria.

I am still here, no worries Terq. I just know that the combat is taking center stage, and don't want to try and post in the middle of it and break your focus from it :)

Don't worry bout me, I have a post in the works in response to yours to me, but I purposefully withheld it to give the others in combat time to shine :)

Marcus has a very restless night sleep, he tosses and turns a lot. He wakes, not fully rested, but with all that needs to be done, he has a cup of coffee and starts to get working on fortifying the bridge.

He goes to Mr. Mitterson, I want to fortify the bridge. I want to create a series of spikes or similar impediments to hamper the potential enemies. How long would it take to create such a barrier? Also to incorporate thorns or other natural barriers? If I give you the aid of a handful of Gymnaga who know the best natural barriers, as well as one of the Castletown soldiers, can you have it complete by late midday, or the end of the day at the latest.

If so, I will go to one of the Gymnaga leaders

Sir, I require your knowledge of the natural world. Please lend me the aid of three or four of your strongest men to aid Mr. Mitterson in fortifying the bridge with spikes and thorns to deter any potential threat.

After getting the bridge fortification plan in motion, Marcus will head back to the Bread & Board, hearing the chatter of the townsfolk as he goes. He looks at the Oghan's, hace you heard the chatter from the villagers, of abandoning OUR home in fear? Should we, I mean...I would rather die protecting our home than flee and let the invaders take it without a fight. I...I Marcus' thought trails off. He awaits any sort of advice Oscar or Lulu may have.

I am formulating a plan, will make a post when I get it all figured out. I know that a few days won't be enough in game to accomplish "everything" I would do, but I can do the basics.

Redoing equipment into weapons will take too long, I would know that as a smithy. I am gonna reinforce the bridge as best as I can.

Marcus will look to the two soldiers, What can you tell me of the army seen? How many does it number? What are its strengths or weaknesses if you found any? Does it have any means to ford our best defense, the water surrounding us? Any information can mean success or failure.
