Malsuza marches into the room, stepping over the fallen husk of stitched flesh. "Blegh. This looks worse than the stuff mom cooked up."

Then, she stands before the alchemist, her muscles flexing, a smile on her face. "So! Looks like your project is all busted. Going to stop and talk this out?"

Just taking a move action and calling her turn.

Malsuza picks up her thrown javelin and grins. "Well, that was brisk. Let's hope the next couple are the same."

After leading Doggoth into the comparatively roomy space, she tosses him a skeleton bone to play with before making her way towards the northern door in the next hallway.

"C'mon, let's see what's next."

Malsuza responds with a nod. "You said bony boys, right? Well..." She flexes, her three tendrils retracting and reemerging as gooey, club-like appendages. Noticing the narrow corridor, she urges Doggoth to stay in place.

The oozemorph boldly strides forward. "Let's do this."

Stepping forward, feel free to follow!

Malsuza nods in response, patting her slimy pupper. "Seems easy. Who's first down the line?"

Satisfied with the defeat of her enemies, Malsuza steps over to Dogggoth and carefully leads him along the (comparatively) narrow bridge and into the building as her party examines the loot.

"Well, THAT sure was something."

"It sure was, strange lady." adds Sergei, still sitting atop his giant bat mount, barrel dutifully cradled under one arm.

Screw it. She kicked the other door in.

....did I just try to kick open a door that was already open?

Satisfied with the relative safety of Gordy, Malsuza marches towards the door and gives it a swift kick, hoping to open it as dramatically as possible!

Malsuza briefly considers following that creature into its adobe before thinking better of it. The ooze-turned-orc continues to briskly jog towards combat, closing in on archer.

"Well that would have been a hell of a drop." she says, glancing over the edge. "I really should learn how to grow wings."

Mal's eyes go wide as she watches her companion fall off the edge. Thankfully, his fall seems to slow, so her sense horror soon shifts to a perfectly healthy fight-for-your-life baseline.

Noticing the clogged up melee going on across a narrow bridge with a steep drop, she opts to take the long, empty route to avoid an unfortunate tumble.

Double moving.

Looking down at the wooden planks, Malsuza decides not to test them with the weight of her oversized canine companion just yet.

"Doggoth, just... do me a solid, and STAY put."

Afterwards, she moves forward, drawing her mace along the way and taking a swipe!

So! What's our dog situation on the platform? Can't post until I'm sure.

I assume we were able to tie a few bats to Doggoth and haul him along too? Or was he left behind for his own good?

Malsuza hops off of her mount and hits the ground running, moving to position herself close to their targets. "No escape!" she says in sylvan, grinning.

Dismounting and then moving into position. Feel free to make AoOs for the enemy.

Doggoth's legs twist as the dog pulls a 180, spinning in place and going back the direction he came from. Malsuza, clinging for dear life, does her best to drive the excitable beast as she rides it into the melee.

Once in position, she jabs at it with one of her slimy tendrils.

Mal was actually aiming for the rider.

The oozemorph's slimy steed moves forward at his mistress' command, bringing the two of them closer. As it moves, Malsuza draws one of her javelins.

She takes aim, deciding to go for the red rider in front of her.

Malsuza leans into her mount and urges it forward, a smile on her face the whole time. "Man, this is GREAT not having to shrink down to go riding."

After closing the distance, Malsuza lunges forward with one of her spined pseudopods.

Malsuza grins as she hops up onto Doggoth's back. "Let's go!" she says with enthusiasm, urging spined tendrils to protrude from her back.

At her behest, her faithful doggy steed rushes past her allies, brushing up against them with his oily fur while moving up to the next platform.

Sorry I've been asleep at the wheel for a bit. I'll try to get a progress post up in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, I posted a little retroactive RP for funsies.

Also! Just to clarify, did the group opt for a trip on the flying mounts or is this current encounter a pre-flight scouting mission? I just want to make sure since a horse-sized doggo could provide logistical complications.

Earlier that day....

Malsuza idly glopped around the deep gnome village as the party took their moment to rest. Doggoth had been getting really antsy since their arrival, and ran off out of the blue. Not wanting to let her companion get into trouble, Malsuza took the form of a half orc and began to search in earnest.

"Doggoth! Doooooggoth!" she called, but to no avail. Thankfully, it wasn't long before she found heavy paw prints in the ground, and she followed the trail with an exasperated sigh. She was prepared to find him gnawing on some poor gnome's lunch, or playing around with some frightened locals, or some other such mischief.

She was caught by surprise when she turned a corner to find a large, fleshy chrysalis wedged between two buildings. It was flexing and pulsing, anchored in place with a few tendrils of blackened ooze, with something inside pressing against the surface.

"D-doggoth....?" she trailed off, taking a cautious step forward. "Is that you in there?"

Malsuza pressed her cheek to the surface, listening for signs of her companion. As if sensing the outside presence, the creature within stirred and pressed back. She could feel something like Doggoth's nose press back against her, but something was off. This was much too large to be her companion.

Then, the chrysalis began to quiver as the beast inside struggled against it. The membrane stretched out as massive paw prints pressed against it from the inside, again and again, until it eventually gave way. Dripping wet and covered with eyes, the black, furry head of Doggoth broke through, the breach widening as he wriggled free of the now collapsing encasement.

Malsuza had to crane her head up to look at her companion. The aberrant wolf stood as tall as a horse, his powerful form flexing and twisting as he shook himself free of the excess mutagenic slime of his metamorphosis. His fur, black and oily, shifted and writhed from the muscles moving beneath his skin. Over a dozen eyes across his head all fixated on his mistress, blinking out of sync from one another.

"BORK!"

Malsuza cried out in joy and embraced her companion. The next time the party would see her, it would be proudly riding atop the towering canine.

And that's the story of how a medium companion can go from Medium to Large in the period of a few hours.

Malsuza assesses the situation, noting the clogged up front line. She decides to shift to the side, drawing a javelin. Better to provide fire support than get in her allies' way.

Doggoth, meanwhile, follows his previous orders and simply sticks by Malsuza's side.

By the way, how long since our last encounter? Tracking the time matters for the oozemorph :D

Malsuza nods and breaks into a sprint, Doggoth following close behind. "Redcaps. Bad guys. Right. Let's go down there and help the other guys!"

Malsuza had long since run out of 'leg time' with their long travels, so by the time things got serious she was in her gelatinous form. Her body expands and pops, revealing a half-orc behind it. After that, she flexes her muscles, forcing a trio of bladed tendrils to protrude from her back.

[ooc]Spending the round to shapeshift and then grow tendrils. Not at all what I wanted to do, but the only thing that would make sense when you consider what information I'd during the first round as well as things like being retroactively caught in AoE attacks or swinging at already-dead enemies. Snooze/Lose, etc.

With a sigh of annoyance, Malsuza rushes over to the collection of mushrooms that support the creature. There, she slashes at the mushroom with one of her tendrils in hopes of taking it down!

She gestures with her other tendrils, signaling for Doggoth to do the same!

When the group makes their way back to town, Malsuza makes sure to pick up rope. Lots of rope! Naturally, she makes a point to tell her porter Sergei to make the trip for her. All the better that she avoid having to use her precious transformation time for the task.

I'm thinking 800 feet of silk rope. Between that and the 50 feet she already has, it'll be easy enough to lower Doggoth into the pit. From there, most of us should be able to make the climb.

Malsuza sighs. "Well, do we have time to head back to town and pick up some supplies? We could buy some lengths of rope, make a harness, or something like that."

Malsuza peers down the hole and frowns. "Welp. I can melt and slip my way down there easy, but Doggoth isn't so lucky. We'd need a pretty strong arm and an elaborate harness to carry him all the way down. And all I've got is 50 feet of rope."

She huffs, leaning in to hig her slimy black dog. "Any ideas?"

Malsuza lets out a sigh, her posture low as her tendrils droop downward. "Really? You sound kind of like one of mom's friends. Always rambling about crazy stuff and strange creatures and blah blah."

The oozemorph clasps her hands together. "Maybe you should go out a little more! Get some sunlight if you can manage it. Maybe make more friends! It did wonders for my family, it could be great for you too."

Aiding Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Upon watching her allies moving towards the strange individual, she moves forward, all the better to not be left out! As she does, her form stretches out and reshapes itself, with the shape of a humanoid body pressing against her surface as though it were expanding from the size of a pebble to the size of a human.

The thin layer of slime surrounding Malsuza's new form pops like a bubble, revealing the leather-clad form of a female half-orc. She grins a toothy grin, flexing her muscles.

"Oh man, it's nice to be back on a pair of legs after a few days of..." she trails off, watching their newfound friend feed a rat to Kipp. "Well, wasn't expecting hospitality down here."

R E A L L Y

The smile follows along, occasionally darting off and squeezing between narrow stones to fish for a relatively harmless creature to hunt. She does manage to take care of herself, if just barely.

She is unable to gather enough food to feed Doggoth, sadly. At her behest (via wriggling tendrils) she signals her Sergei to offer up a doggy treat for the trouble.

The wobbly purple slime that is Malsuza creeps up the nearby wall, slow and steady in her ascent. There, at the top, she manages to gesture at the monster in hopes of getting Doggoth's attention.

Oozing up the wall and moving into a flank position for Doggoth.

Sensing enemies nearby, Malsuza creeps over to the wall and prepares to climb it. Then, her form shudders, producing a trio of bladed pseudo-pods. These appendages gesture wildly, likely trying to get Doggoth's attention.

Handle Animal, DC 15, Defend (Master): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14

Moving up, pulling out the weapons, and ordering Doggoth to back her up.

I mean most of us will be there so whatev.

Also due to logistical issues I wasn't able to get the chronicle. Mal's leveled up but I couldn't buy anything. We're goin' in pauper style!

Malsuza does her best to guide the group through the dangerous caverns, the ooze creeping along the floor at a brisk pace and pointing out directions with a trio of spine-like tendrils.

Malsuza raises her goopy tendrils in triumph over the fallen dark dwarves! Afterwards, she cuddles up next to Doggoth and takes a well-needed breather. The oozemorph briefly considers question their enemy, but decides to leave it to her more persuasive allies.

Or maybe Kipp. That could be fun.

5-foot step next to purple, attacking green. Assuming it drops midway, switching to purple. Doggoth is watching her back.

Hey for what it's worth I think Malsuza went into this fight at full HP. I remember a Cure Wand Cuddle Puddle after the last one.

Malsuza looks at the monstrosity with wide eyes. "Uhm.... guys? What is that?"

Despite her misgivings, she moves with purpose, dashing towards the monstrosity with her weapon at the ready. She darts to the side, circling around behind it. Then, from between its legs, she uses her pseudopods to motion towards her dog.

Handle Animal: Attack!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Sadly, the obscured vision blocks her command. Doggoth, unaware of the urgency, simply continues following his master. He rushes to her side, nudging her playfully.

Double moving into flank. Tried and failed to use Handle Animal so Doggoth is still on his "follow" command.
