The party consists of fleshwarp monk/cleric, half-orc gnome thaum/cavalier, and some variety of magus most likely.
We are going to be using Free Archetype and Ancestral Paragon. I have gone over what seems like tons of ideas in my head. The GM is allowing almost any ancestry I don't think he really cares about the rarity on anything. We will be playing in Gatewalkers. To me it looks like we could use more magic and or some ranged capability. What build would you run in this group? What is missing? How can I find something exciting for a character to play?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I was reading a few posts and saw this pop up a lot as a good option. I am not very familiar with Magus but this sounds pretty interesting. I am curious using FA(Free Archetype), how would you guys build a Starlit Span Magus to get the most out of it? If it helps I believe we will most likely be playing the Kingmaker campaign.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

We are in an edgewatch game and I am looking to making a wildshape druid after our party wipe. My goup uses Free Archetype rules. I was curious as to what my build should look like. Starting at lvl 5 but maybe what the future might hold. Also I am not sure what race I really want.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Building the titled character and I could use some assistance with feat and spell progression. Its free archetype rogue sounds cool with my concept. Maybe another later.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I like to read builds to help me find stuff to try because I cannot help but munchkin a bit. I have a question about a couple things I was reading in another post about munchkin'ing a monk. One of the posters mentioned an apex item and having certain items by certain levels. Can you guys enlighten me on what items normal characters should I have by what levels so I can make sure the groups I play in are kept up to date I guess with monsters. The four games I am in are all pretty low level except one which we are level 8. While it is not high there are definitely some fights that are rough. And also what is an example of an apex item?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So everyone is in the early stages as just yesterday a friend is switching her 5e game to an agents of edgewatch adventure. I do not know what everyone is playing. I heard maybe cleric and lizardman fighter i think.
Looking for a fun concept/build as new ideas come slow to me. I do know we will be using the rule for archetype feats.

I am trying to reach out regarding my subscription shipments. This may not be you guys but I see the shipment was sent back in July. I believe the 10th of July it said my order was complete. I have not seen my book yet and I just got notification of the next item shipping. Can you please help me track down my item and where it might be? Thanks

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I wan to build a Cleric(Cloistered) of Gozreh. I am most likely the tank and healer and this will require me to survive level 1. My thoughts lean to Iruxi as an Iruxi climbing out of the water with trident and shield in hand seems very fitting. My question is how would you guys build this? Would it be viable? The rest of the part will be Monk, Sorcerer, and Ranger.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I am trying to start an adventure path subscription Hell Knight Hill. Every time I start the checkout process I select Hell Knight hill. Then I proceed through shipping and order steps 2 and 3. I get to step 4 and it automatically has switched back to the module 2 adventures ago.

I've played quite a bit of games but my home group will soon be trying Starfinder. I saw Dragonkin and really want to play one. Not having read all the rules yet is probably making this harder but I want to make him a Solarian and crush people in melee. I could really use some help in how to build him and knowing what's good and bad about Solarian and how to mitigate the bad. I do plan to bond with the operative in the group whom has like +10 init.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So I stopped playing Pathfinder for a while as we started playing less mechanically heavy systems. I feel a bit out of the loop but I want to build a Witch for a game coming soon where we will be exploring The Emerald Spire. Any recommendations? Is there any new hotness? Is there another class that could do better? I think the last book I read was Advanced Class Guide although to be honest I did not get far in it. So yeah my thoughts are playing some sort of witch nothing particular in mind about it other than shutting people down like they do.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I will be joining a small group playing in RoW. The GM got pretty excited when I mentioned the thought of an Alchemist and is nudging me in that direction all though I looked at many options.
He is letting us use any non 3rd party books. 25 point buy. I will be joining at 4th level. Wanting to weigh the pros and cons of either Tiefling or Goblin.

For RP the goblin would be fun but I will also need some good reason for him to join the group. The Tiefling has some cool factor because wings, tail, and such.

What are your thoughts?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So... our last campaign abruptly ended after a party wipe. So we are going to be playing in Skull and shackles again. Starting at about level 4. Through some hurried decision making and the fact that all the other characters are melee focused I decided to go with a Human Tattooed Stormborn Sorcerer. I am looking for advise on how I should build him and feats or spells to pick. As characters were made quick I may be able to convince him to let me change a few things.
So far feats I picked Spell Focus (Evocation), Spell Penetration (Evocation), and Improved initiative.
For spells I chose Magic Missile, Grease, Mage Armor, and Obscuring Mist.
So like I said I am curious as to possible suggestions or improvements and ways to go moving forward.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So I am not the GM of this campaign however I am working on some back story. So please no spoilers. I am playing a half orc hunter with a T-rex. So far I had the thoughts that his actions had lead to the betrayal and death of his love. The gm said he would be part of this mercenary group. Upon looking some stuff I find they are all elves. So why would they let a half orc into their midst and why would he join snobby elves?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So funny story. We were discussing in our most recent game the possibility of training monkeys. A couple of us had come very close to dieing once to often. Mostly because of splitting the group. Then one of us said "Hey. I have handle animal and monkeys cost like 3 gold." We replied "You're point?" Then a 30-45 minute conversation ensued about training monkeys for the purpose of feeding us healing potions when we went unconcious. Our GM eventually just said no and we moved on but what do you guys think?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So looking into the hunter. I like the idea of tons of AoO. I want to make this work. I also think I want to use a pole arm of sorts as we have plenty of melee in the party. A bow will be my back up if only because everyone else leaves them at home. I will be starting at level 3 with a 20 point buy. For me finely deciding on a class is a big improvement. You can ask my group. So I come to you guys for tips and ideas on building this hunter. As the title suggests I would like to melee with my friend as we trade AoOs until the enemy dies.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Trying to help a fellow pc with his muse touched inspired blade swashbuckler. Stats 10 str, 18 Dex, 10 con, 14 int, 10 wis, 16 cha.
Feats:
1: weapon finesse, weapon focus, fencing grace
3: combat reflexes
4: weapon specialization
5: arcane strike
I am a bit unsure from here. He wants to be a damage monster yet still a finesse guy. Any tips or suggestions?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So my party and I are playing in second darkness. We use a 20 point build. I am leaning towards playing a barbarian, bloodrager, or maybe fighter. I want to be probably anti mage, but definitely wield some big hammer. I am looking for some insight into what to play. I will be coming in at level 3. The party is possibly changing but consists of a fighter, rogue, and sorceror.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I am about to run Iron Gods with 5 players. We have a Magus, a Barbarian(the river kingdoms one), an Oracle, a Gunslinger, and an Inquisitor. My group and subtlety do not go hand in hand. Sometimes they need info beat into them to get it. What are some good tips for running this AP? Any potential pit falls or things I should look I out for?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

We are playing WotR. We have 3 melee characters and one ranged other than me. The melee guys are Paladin, Fighter, Inquisitor. The ranged is a ranger. I have never made a Bard before and was curious where to go from here.

Tolfin Titanslicer:

Gnome Bard Level 3 CN
Str: 10
Dex: 14
Con: 10
Int: 14
Wis: 10
Cha: 18

HP:23(rolled very well)
Traits: Trap Finder, Reactionary
Alt Racial Traits: Gift of Tongues, Academcian
Feats: Trickster(Gnome), Lingering Performance

Skills: Disable Device 9, Knowledge History 7, Knowledge local 7, Perception 8, Perform Act 10, Perform Oratory 10, Sleight of Hand 8, Spellcraft 8, Stealth 12, Use Magic Device 10

Spells:
0 Level
Read Magic, Ghost sound, Prestidigitation, Detect Magic, Light, Spark
1 Level
Grease, Silent Image, Charm Person, Saving Finale

Class Abilities: Bardic knowledge, bardic performance, cantrips, countersong, distraction, fascinate, inspire courage +1, Versatile performance, well-versed, Inspire competence +2

Tolfin is a big story teller. Loves illusions and tricking people. My question is how can I make him better as I level?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I don't know if this will work right. I am not that good at creating casters, but I want to play a full caster class. I want to specialize in illusions and some divination magic as I feel they go hand in hand. Dabbling in harrow ed stuff would be fun as well. I am looking for suggestions to make this work. I am trying to veer away from a front line killer of sorts. We use a 20 point buy and anything pathfinder product. I feel this character will be a con artist dazzling people with illusions and special affects only to take their money and run. Kind of going to the redemption style stories that WotR focuses on. Any ideas or suggestions would be awesome.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So I like the idea of the Goblin Alchemist a lot. I love the flavor of goblins and blowing stuff up is fun. Upon release of the new Monster Codex, I believe they have increased this fun. My alchemist will be Winged Marauder and Grenadier. I will be starting at level 2 as that is where my last character died. We are using a 20 point buy in Wrath of the Righteous campaign. The rest of our party is primarily melee.
So far my character stats are as follows:
Str:10
Dex:19
Con:10
Int:17
Wis:12
Cha:20

Skills: Acrobatics (9), Craft:Alchemy(10), Handle Animal(2), Perception(6), Ride(13), Spellcraft(8), Stealth(8), and Survival (6)

For my discovery I chose infusion as I believe buffing all the melee will prove advantageous as they already end fights quick. What I need some help with is good feat and discovery progression as I will be mounted on a vulture as often as possible. I am thinking accelerated drinker and reactionary for traits. I also need to choose one martial weapon which i think either Lance or Longbow. For extracts probably shield, enlarge person, cure light, maybe reduce person. Any tips or advice would be cool as I have read most of N.Jolly's guide, but I feel mounted alchemist has slightly different priorities.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So my goblin alchemist died as I mentioned in another thread. I saw the new monster codex and found an archetype for me. What do you guys think of the Winged Marauder? How would you build him?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

We are playing WotR. 20pt buy. Our characters are a Human Inquisitor, an Aasimar Paladin (melee focused), a human fighter, and a hobgoblin ranger (bow). We have no big casters. We are only level 2. What should I play? I kind of want to play something from the ACG. I also contemplate a stone lord or winter witch. I find it hard to be motivated by a bard. I look forward to suggestions. Arcanist/Shaman would be cool but I have not found any good build advice.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I got my advanced class guide today. I just noticed that it says it is an adventure path. I thought that was quite interesting. If I could post a pic I would.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

In much debating on what to play for an upcoming game of Serpent's Skull I have decided on swashbuckler. We are doing 20 point buy. We have 3 people in the party including myself. I believe the others will be a hobgoblin monk and probably a human ranger (switch hitter). I lean towards Drow as I have always been drawn to them. I almost want to have a hand crossbow to fully embrace the Drow but I feel swashbuckler is on par for what I would like. So like the above, how would you build this character? I enjoy all insight into what you guys think and love reading about builds.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So my group may soon be playing the Serpent's Skull adventure path. No one really knows what they want to play as of yet. One guy is looking at a build based on throwing rocks at people that he found here. We typically have a 3 person party with about a 20-25 point buy for stats. I like a lot of builds and peruse the forums frequently. I can be pretty versatile in what I play and our group does tend to get a bit combat happy. I am just curious if you guys have any exciting ideas I could use for a new character. We stick to strictly pathfinder material and any race from the race guide is open provided we have a good back story.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I am looking for some character inspiration for a Goblin Alchemist for me as a PC. I need some reasons why a Goblin might be in Kenabres for the crusades. Also is there anyone that might be good for background or reason for him to travel within town and not get thrown out or killed on sight?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Sometime in the future we will be playing WotR. I want to play a sneaky alchemist who is good or at least neutral. I am still trying to work out his motivation to go to Kenabres. I do need him to be extremely good at disguise as I would like most people at first glance to think he is a more common race so that when people finally realize he is a goblin they are like well he is not so bad. So my questions:
1. Would you allow this guy in your game?
2. What kind of builds would you use?
3. How would you buff disguise?
4. Why has he come to Kenabres?
5. Any other tips or suggestions?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

My order listed below didn't allow me to apply the holiday code. Is there any way it could be retroactively applied?
ORDER # 2947228

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Hi guys still contemplating ideas for what to play for an upcoming campaign. We will have 4 possibly 5 PCs. I know we have an Oracle and a Paladin. Myself and the other guy are wondering what we should play to best fill our gaps. I contemplate an Alchemist(most likely Hyde style) or Witch as I am growing fond of them running RoW. I am also open to bombs. So we look to your wonderful breadth of knowledge for assistance in choosing. The other guy has no clue.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Hey guys. After my group finishes our current AP, we will be moving to Wrath of the Righteous. Two members have decided to be the paladin and cleric.I figured I would go the arcane caster.I want to play some sort of ice caster. I am open to other than sorcerer but I am more drawn to them because of spontaneous casting. My question is how would you guys build your ice caster? For stats we have 20 points. Pathfinder only material.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

How fair do you guys think the Trox is for homebrew games? I read the Bestiary 4 and was like OMG...

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

My group has three characters. I made them level 2 before the lodge and full on resources. They wiped out all the badguys except the necro. He then killed them all with his army of undead once the party got downstairs. I am looking for tips on how to approach the new group that will be making it to the lodge. I intend to give them some sort of NPC depending on the rest of the party. I do not want the lodge to be the same as obviously they have changed it. This time I am also thinking about having the lady further down the line possibly closer to being taken through the portal. Looking for tips and suggestions on how to handle this turn of events.

Characters so far:
Paladin Lvl 2
Summoner Lvl 2
TBD Lvl 2

So our current GM was unprepared today and I volunteered to start RoW as we were all leaning that route anyway. Needless to say we didn't get far today after character creation. Our group only has three players, so I am looking for suggestions for ways to improve survivability and possible warnings about potential TPKs.
Our group consists of
Standard Dwarven Druid(Auroch Animal Companion)
Human Sorceror Fire Elemental Bloodline(He has been warned!)
Invulnerable Rager Barbarian
As it is only the three of them I gave them 25 pt buy. I typically don't like making myself a PC in these since I feel awkward doing so, as I know whats coming up and want to avoid spoilers. Any tips or suggestions would be helpful.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So after some discussion that more than a few of you have participated in, I find myself at another crossroads. I am unsure as to which I would prefer Waves or Wind for an Oracle. What are some pros and cons to these? My big things I am doing with this character is I am going to be the party face. I need quite a few knowledges, particularly local and history I believe. Those are to help shore up holes in the party. One character is a archer ranger and the other is an orc barbarian. My thoughts are to be able to buff and perhaps provide some summoned goodness/ who knows in combat. Thanks for reading this. I look forward to some insight.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So a little background, I am playing in a Skull & Shackles game. Our group really needs a conversationalist. My character is Captain but the Gm is allowing me to change it. I want to make a bard with good social and knowledge skills. I also need to hold my own in combat. We are using a 25 point buy. He has said I can change all my stuff except equipment which i can do only slightly. The rest of the group is an orc barbarian and an elven ranger(archer). Any tips and advice would be awesome. Thanks in advance. I look forward to your replies.

So like the total asks. How does one get the most out of Alchemist Bombs? Also can someone help walk me through the actions involved in an alchemist using his bombs, extracts, potions, and mixing the stuff in combat? I would like to fully understand the usefulness of a Tiefling's tail and to ensure we haven't totally been hosing our GMs they are pretty new. I'm thinking of making a mad bomber for the next campaign whatever that happens to be.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So as the title suggests I would like to make a Cleric. This is rather specific as the DM informed me it would be very useful to have a strong Channel Energy abilities at least early on. He mentioned that undead will be around quite a bit at the beginning of his campaign. I have not played a cleric any time recently. My last one was during 3.5 and that character lasted a game session before the GM quit. I want to make this cleric some sort of Demon Hunter. I am unsure other than that really where I would want to take him. I did look at a couple of guides and the reach cleric strikes me as a possibility. He has yet to mention a point buy so I will assume 20 for the sake of the board and if he mentions it I will throw it up here. We also stick to strictly Pathfinder material. I look to you guys and your vast knowledge for ideas possible growth ideas for him.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Hi all. I love pathfinder. I have never played in a pbp. Most of my experience comes from games in my garage. I would really like to try a pbp and I can post at least daily. I would like to learn to play in a pbp but will probably need some minor guidance getting started.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So my group will be starting a Skull and Shackles game soon. I asked before for ideas and I did some extra research. I want to make a Storm born druid. I wanted to hear some good build advice from you guys who know pathfinder so much better than I. My race thought is Undine although probably keep up human appearances. For the domain to start I believe I want weather as keeping fools at range will be necessary. I love the idea of causing chaos at sea and aerial bombardment of spells. We will be doing 20 point buy. I have never played a druid as most of my repertoire is melee characters and I want to expand my abilities. So my question. How would you guys build this? I would like to be very pirate themed. The party I believe will be monk, gunslinger, and other guy said pirate. We have access to pathfinder only. I look forward to suggestions and progression advice.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

We are looking into doing skull and shackles ap in the near future. Having not played a lot of casters I think I would like to play one. I'm not sure what our point buy will be. I think probably 20. My caster leaning is arcane. I am thinking wizard or sorcerer. I even thought druid might be neat due to the environment. I like the idea of being useful with stuff to create favorable weather conditions while being able to cripple ships in combat. What are some suggestions? I don't know what the other characters will be yet as this will be after our current campaigns. Also I really want to be a pirate (who doesn't?).

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

One of my favorite characters is Thibbledorf Pwent. He was crazy loyal and loved to throw himself into battle tearing his opponents up with his armor. My questions:
How would one build him?(20 point buy)
Can someone break down the combat with him a bit? (Grappling isn't done much in my group so rules for it are a bit rusty)
Would it be viable throughout an adventure path?
Thanks.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Looking for any tips or advice before starting to run chapter 2 of RotRL. I have 3 PCs a Catfolk Rogue, an Assimar Paladin, and a Gnome Summoner. Yours truly has feelings for the Summoner who is relatively new to playing so that should be entertaining. One thing I feel I should do is help invest them in the town some more as I really didn't work that hard at it in chapter 1 and I felt they almost raced through it and didn't even understand who Nualia even was. So I guess what I am looking for is 2 things:

Tips/advice on things I should pay close attention to for the chapter

Tips on gettting players invested into the townspeople

My players do tend to prefer combat so it can be tricky sometimes to get them into their characters and their environment.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Need some ides for the above. My thoughts lean towards some sort of polearm master however against solitary monsters it may not be feasible. Any good input or ideas are welcome. I like most races and classes. I would also like to be able to fend off other PCs in case it goes that route.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

So I have a PC that wants to play a strong Construct with about a +4 racial bonus to strength. I have the ARG. My problem is as such. We have 3 PCs in rise if the runelords. I let them use 25 point buy as I have heard it is lethal and there is only 3 of them. My thoughts are perhaps I lower his point buy to be fair to other players. I have also thought about making him kind of like the construct in Dragon Age where he has a control rod. I think to give him more freedom maybe make it a will save to go against the will of its owner. Any GMs with good tips and or suggestions would be helpful.

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

I was curious from people who have run this before. Do you guys supplement/alter gear that is dropped or leave it as is? So far they are in the middle of Thistle top. I have only given them what is listed in monster entries and treasure that they have found. So just want to see what other DMs typically do. I have always been kinda stingy with gear but I want to make sure they can keep up. I also want to keep from over gearing them as they have 25 point buy. It is only three characters. Well enough of my rambling. Thoughts?

Pathfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Long time thread reader here. First time post. Next Sunday my group will be starting a kingmaker game. My problem is I am torn as to what character I want to make. We regularly have 3 PCs. One is halforc inquisitor. The other will be a halforc druid. I was tempted to make many things but can't make up my mind as I usually gm. We are using all pathfinder and 25 point buy any suggestions. I kinda want to make a king but I like to shine in combat so I am iffy about bard. Paladin sounds good but I don't do lawful good well. And with cavalier I don't want to be stuck with mount. Any suggestions or ideas would be awesome. Especially if my gm says wtf are you playing.
