Been playing Dragon Age Origins for the last few weeks and just learned Morrigan's origin and Flemeth,s plans for her daughter.

Is it me or did anyone else think that Morrigan/Flemeth story sounds allot like Iggwilv/Baba Yaga history from ST?

For example both Baba Yaga/Flemeth are both ancient Witch Women with a rich history and habit of causing destruction. Both have had numerous daughters (btw was does happen to Baba Yaga's daughters after their 100 year rule in Glorian?)and of course both Iggwilv/Morrigan are smoking brunettes witch women(if you like pixel characters)full of themseveles.

BTW - Love DA this is not a shot at the game.

How sad.

I'm not sure if this question has been discussed and I'm too lazy to hunt the message boards but has Paizo considered a "limited subscription" for thier adventure paths?

For example I have no interest in the upcoming Legacy of Fire AP but the precding Second Darkness AP is something I would have subscribed to just to get those six issues.

Thanks

So I was joking telling my group at our last session as long as I had a job by the time of the release I was going to pick up Monte’s new book.

When I came in last Thursday my company starting laying off staff that morning without warning. When the bloodshed was done over 30 people many of them friends were gone. I work in a large law office in Detroit, Michigan with about 300 people so in total about 10% were laid off by noon.

I’m suffering from survivor’s guilt but thankfully I was spared this time. Anyone else got a story to tell?

Ran into an interesting situation last weekend that almost ended our Savage Tide AP but opened up allot of role-playing opportunities.

Just a little background, my players characters are evil not “were going to take over the world or torture the prisoners for fun evil” just were looking out what’s best for us and who will pay us the most i.e. they have already stolen gold from their employer Lavinia several times when the opportunity presented itself.

While confronting Rowyn at the Lotus Dragon’s Guild Hall the group wasted no time turning on Lavina when Rowyn offered them a bribe of 2,000 gold, half now half later if they turned over the information they had learned on the guilds plans for taking over the cities docks and if they kept out of the guilds business.

Ironically, after they were escorted out of the guilds base they became overwhelmed with paranoia that Rowyn was going to send wave after wave of assassins after them to “tie up loose ends”.

They quickly fled town, sending a note to Lavinia that were leaving the city to follow up on a lead regarding her brother. After several weeks greed overcame fear and they tried to contact Rowyn to inquire about when they could expect to receive the rest of their money.

Surprisingly, no message was forthcoming, realizing that Rowyn had no intention of paying them (since they fled Rowyn had executed her plan and successfully taken over the docks putting the Dragons in charge of commerce for the city). They decided to flee to another city and Rowyn and Lavinia be damned.

The group eventually decided to return (that’s another story) to find that Lavinia was becoming suspicious of their actions but that with the “information” they learned about Vanthus’s involvement with the Dragons that she would speak with the Lord Mayor during the ball given by Rowyn’s family (can’t think of the family name) due to their recent economic successes.

Of course Rowyn was in attendance and arranged a private meeting between the party and herself. The party was put out by the fact they still hadn’t been paid for their neutrality. But another agreement was made (money upfront) as Vanthus was still missing and they were to go to Kraken Cove and learn his fate for Rowyn and keep quite at the meeting with the Mayor or discourage any direct action against or investigation of the Lotus Dragons.

At the meeting with the Lord Mayor and Rowyn very little was resolved, the Mayor could not do anything until Vanthus was found but one of the players slipped the Mayor information about the Lotus Dragon’s movements before they took over the docks (the info was copied from the notes they had looked over during their initial attack on the guild hall).

So their you have it, the party wants to play both sides against each other and reap the rewards. Problem is the AP really involves the Lotus Dragons for the first couple of adventures but this presents an interesting role-playing opportunity that I wish to explore but don’t want to get to side tracked from the main story arc.

BTW the Mayor was attended by an influential noble woman with connections to the Lotus Dragons but also happens to be a thrall of Malchentat (sp).

Let the chaos ensue, anyone have any fun ideas before my players carefully constructed plans come crashing down on their heads?

Kind of disappointed, I was waiting for them to fire up the Large Hadron Collider which would unleash an army of Spider Monkey men from another dimension. But instead civilization is ending with a market meltdown and credit crunch.

The movies lied to us!!! What happened to the zombie apocalypse or machine uprising???

On a lighter note what Fantasy/Sci-Fi end of civilization scenario would you prefer to survive thru given a choice?

Happy Friday

Whether you love or hate Terry Goodkind's work the new TV series is on the horizon (Nov 1).

The Worm that Walks is known by many names, though of them all, Kyuss is the one true name -- the most common, the most reviled, and the most feared."

-- Edwin Tolstoff

For those who are interested WOTC have posted an excerpt on an alternate campaign for Kyuss from their Elder Evils source book.

If you were putting a team together of the ultimate heroes who would you prefer?

Putting aside the the fact that Optimus is more powerful who would make the better field commander not neccesarily better fighter. For example when the JLA/Avengers teamed up both teams picked Cap as the overall team leader and Superman as the point man.

The new article is up on WOTC. Thanks James for the insight, a pleasure to read as always. Are there any plans for any other entries before 4E?

Wow, not sure about this.

Did anyone else see her season premier last night? Long story short anyone in the D&D community over age 12 took another embarrassing hit for playing the game.

This is how it starts off

Just got received issue 149 and I must say well done Paizo.

However, I have one question for the Paizo staff. It seems you are all fixated on portraying all the demon woman as profoundly beautiful whose cunning know no bounds. Both Malcanthet and Iggwilv are both portrayed as having plans within plans that would make the Honored Matres (Dune reference fanboys) proud.

While on the other side all the male Demon Lords which includes Orcus, an aspect of Obox-ob and General Bagromar (clone of Hethradiah) are portrayed as savage brutes more interested in bashing and smashing then using the Alliance to form their own long term plans.

Don’t get me wrong who doesn’t love beautiful scheming demon woman but it would be nice to see some of the boys use their brains too, even if there not as nice to look at.

FYI - I was just at the local hobby/comic shop and I noticed Dungeon 148 was already on the stands.

For my fellow Michganders and for those non-subscribers there were 3 copies left at the Comic City in Canton, Michigan.

Just got issue 148 and so far so good. I was happy to see how you used Demorgorgon's divided personalites to explain how Hethradiah was using the Savage Tide to deal with Aameul while Aameul in turn is trying to use the Bastion of Unborn Souls to destroy Hethradiah.

Now I have to debate on whether I should use the adventure Bastion of Broken Souls in the Savage Path. Thanks Paizo!!!

One question, the outfit Iggvilv is wearing in the picture for next months Dungeon reminded me allot of the old X-men foe Selene. Was that intentional?

An interesting situation has come up and I’m seeking some advice. I am currently running the Age of Worms Adventure Path and my party just started the adventure into the WormCrawl Fissure.

Now the players in the group have really enjoyed the AP, so much so that one of my buddies has been telling of his exploits to his friends at his job.

These folks are so impressed that they have asked my friend to run the AOW AP with them at lunch. So my buddy has come to me asked me to give him the first ten adventures that have been completed.

I’m a little hesitant to do so, I have no problem lending him the all the adventures once we finish the AP which should be in about two months but it doesn’t feel right giving up all the completed adventures until we finish the adventure path.

My buddy is starting to put pressure on me and I think if I don’t give him the mags he might buy them off the Paizo website. Am I being selfish or should I be content the my hard work has inspired others?

According to the WOTC website Mr. Greewood is the CEO of WOTC. I have posted on the boards over and sent an e-mail to Mr. Greenwood (customer service) asking for an explanation why/how WOTC came to it’s decision not to continue its license agreement with Paizo and I urge everyone to do the same.

It’s very doubtful that they will change there mind but if we can get across to them that they have made a mistake and upset the a good portion of the game community with disposable income then its well worth the few minutes to write out the e-mail.

**Spoilers**

My group is still running the Age of Worms but when that is complete I have no doubt the Savage Tide is next.

However, being old school the idea of going back into the Demonweb Pits is something I know my group would like to do.

With a little modification to the Expedition adventure namely removing the Aspect of Demogorgon at the Demon Prince Council and substituting an Ambassador for him could be used to fore shadow the adventure City of Broken Idols as to why Demogorgon didn’t attend the summit.

The question is, would an early trip to the Abyss and all the encounters with the Demon Prince Aspects ruin the last arc of the Savage Tide or could it instead be used to build up the tension of the players knowing that they may have to work with Grazz't and others whom they may have offended early on?

What do you folks think?

Now that you folks have inked a publication deal are there any plans on seeing some "Necromancer" adventures in Dungeon or Dragon in the future?

Dear Paizo,

I have not received the current issue of Dungeon via mail (issue No. 146). Since it will appear on news stands this Wednesday I would like to request that you credit my subscription for an additional issue.

I don’t see any point in waiting for a replacement copy since it will take X number of weeks to receive and I can simply stop at the local hobby store to pick up a copy in two days.

Thank you.

Has anyone tried this AP from EN World? The plot summary indicates that the adventure series centers around the events of a magic fueled war.

In my groups AOW campaing the party has recovered the sixth piece to the Rod of Law. However, I don't have the Arms and Equipment guide (I think that is where it is located in 3.5) and have no idea what the fragment can do or what additional powers they get if they combine the two pieces. A little help?

I hope they include the Rod in the Magic Compendium book being released next month.

First, sorry if this questioned has been asked and answered. One of my players recently has acquired the Smoking Eye Template and posed a question. If he dies and his body returns to Occipitus would he suffer a loss of a Constitution point due to his death or is he essentially immortal?

What do you folks think?

Is it me or does Mephistopheles (if that who it really is) look more like he is interested in having a few brews with his buds at the tail gate party then world domination?

I was shocked upon my review of the Savage Tide Overview that Mr. Decker isn't contributing to the STAP. Say it isn't so!!!

There is always the lucky 1 or 2 people who get the magazine a few days after shipment. What about the cover? Paizo still hasn't updated the site yet with the new cover.

Anyone?

To be honest I just don't see how Savage Tides could hope to surpass the Age of Worms Adventure Path. AOW had everything a hardcore gamer could ever want. From the return of Dragotha, the cairns of the Wind Dukes to the Hand of Vecna this adventure path was top notch.

Paizo I don’t' envy your task of trying to out do yourself, but if anyone can James and the gang can. Good luck.

Has issue 137 shipped to subscribers yet??? Doesn't it usually ship on the 3rd Tuesday of every month?

Hey Paizo have you ever considered going back and updating old Dungeon adventures to 3.5 and publishing them in "module" format. For example, I would love to pick up the first two "Flame" adventures and insert them into my campaign and use Flame as a continuing campaign villain.

I know you guys are busy but I think it would be worth it financial to you. You might even consider publishing it in pdf format to save on reproduction costs like the Shackled City Hardback must have cost. Just a thought.

**Spoiler Alert**

What's the point of having Eligos murdered by Loris Rankin's lieutenant at the end of the Champion's Belt games only to later have him return alive and well at Magepoint to become a non-factor?

I guess my question is why bring him back from the dead at all? In my campaign Eligos not only was helping the players thru the Hall of Harsh Reflections and the Champions Belt but several side mini-adventures. I adjusted the adventure so his murder was done by a personalized campaign villain that the players then pursed to avenge Eligos murder. Eligos will not be returning in my campaign.

To simply nullify his death for no legitimate reason only lessons the finality of death itself. According to the AP they run into Eligos in a tavern in Magepoint with Celeste where she half-heartedly says "sorry I wasn't there to help". Eligos then only broods in corner and refuses to speak about his murder.

The last we see of him is that he is helping doing research on the Age of Worms with the other heavy hitters.

Why was he brought back???

With all the excitement of the end of the Age of Worms AP and the announcement of Savage Tides I almost missed it. In the next issue of Dungeon (#136) was an adventure with an interesting concept.

There was only a few sentences but this seems to be a "What IF" (sorry Marvel) idea. What happens if the heroes fail to stop the coming Doomsday? What happens when the bad guys win?

I love the idea, could we get a little more info?

When can we expect the Savage Tide overload posted???
.
.
.
Just kidding, thanks for the hardwork Paizo!!!

Fun adventure, I plan on running it after the Age of Worms. At the end the Queen of Stars indicates that they an even greater threat will soon be rising.

Any plans for that? I don't see my players going much further then the mid twenties and I planned on ending the campaign with Hourglass. I have all the current Dungeon epics and plan to use them for the build up to Hourglass, but I was wondering if there where any epic adventures planned for pcs that make it past Dawn of a new age on the horizon.

Hard to believe almost a year has gone by since The Whispering Cairn began the Age of Worms and soon we will learn what the third AP holds in store for us.

My group of players just started the adventure " A Gathering of Winds". In fact the last session ended with Illthane bursting forth from the ground issuing the players death sentences.

Where is everyone at in their AOW campaigns?

What do you folks think?

Did anyone else hear about the movie Slither? It has something to do with killer worms that get into your brain and turn people into zombies. It looks bad, but I just had to point out the similarites between it and the Age of Worms.

Don't know about you folks but I've been waiting for Dragotha to make the scene ever since we learned he was behind the dragon Ilthane's plot in the mistmarsh swamp.

The ironic thing is in my original 2nd edition campaign I used the threat of Dragotha to put my players back in line. They had recently routed a clan of Green Dragons and thought they were pretty unstoppable.

I gave them plenty of warning that something wicked was coming for them for their sins against dragonkind, but a bunch of 19-20th level characters get pretty full of themselves. Wish I could remember the stats I gave to Dragotha but needless to say he wiped the floor with them.

Sadly, that campaign ended a few months later without any resolution. How ironic years later 2 of the original players will be running into there old enemy. I can't wait.

Anyone else have any Dragotha stories?

Did anyone else notice on Wizards website that they have revised the White Plume Mountain adventure to conform with 3.5 rules. They also turned Whelm, Wave and Blackrazor into Legacy Weapons. Just thought you folks might be interested to know.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20051207a

Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid but back in Issue# 127 the players ran into the Rain Barrel Man preaching to anyone who would listen about the Age of Worms. When the vagrant is questioned he refers to himself as the "Prophet of the Golden Eye". This seems to be a very specific reference that could easily overlooked.

Anyone have any ideas who this Golden Eye maybe? I don't think it's Kyuss?

I think from all the evidence in the The Shackled City and Age of Worms (overload) adventure paths the Paizo Staff has been building up to this one.

In one the other threads James Jacobs stated that in the Shackled City AP it was about outsiders and other planes. While in Age of Worms the focus is on Undead. For the third adventure path they wanted to go in another direction. I think all the clues are right in front of us. The return of the Spell Weavers is on the horizon.

I've been checking some of my old D&D materials and haven't been able to come up with anything. The name seems familar and I was wondering if anyone has been able to come up with anything with her origins?

I know we have only begun the Age of Worms but could you imagine a high level or epic adventure path which deals with the largest cosmic scale war that has lasted almost since the beginning of time? I can already see the Dark Lord of the Nine Hells weaving his webs across the multiverse even now.

Kind of fits in well with Dragons Demon lord/princes articles doesn't it? Well that’s my idea, anyone else with a suggestion or two.

Did anyone happen to notice that in the adventure Encounter at Blackwall Keep the Trident that the Lizardfolk King wielded appears to have an uncanny physical resemblance to the trident Wave from White Plume Mountain and Return to White Plume Mountain? Now it seems to me that Age of Worms is a bad guy reunion from 1st and 2nd edition Greyhawk. On one hand we have Kyuss and Dragotha and on the other we have the Wind Dukes, the Rod of Seven Parts and the biggest bad of Greyhawk Vecna. Think about it for a second, what are some of the most famous non-artifacts of Greyhawk. The weapons that Keraptis gathered of course. In my campaign world I plan on running Return to White Plume Mountain and Return to the Tomb of Horrors as part of the Age of Worms (I replaced Vecna with Acerrack in my game world because Vecna has appeared numerous times as the ultimate enemy to my players i.e. Vecna Lives and Die Vecna Die. I figured the second most powerful lich in Greyhawk history (Dragon #225) is a nice change of pace. That being said is the return of Blackrazor that far off? Lets hope not.
