I have an idea in my head for a Brawler that can help cover the spotting/disabling of non-magical traps, plus give that extra bit of 'meat' on the front line!

Are we starting with the standard 33,000 gp for an 8th level?

Throwing in a dot. I'm on an archery kick lately...debating between a Slayer or a Zen Archer Monk. Is there a particular preference you have to either? I've had DMs warn people off monks in my experience.

I've had an idea for an Arcanist I've had brewing for a Kingmaker setting! I will look over my writing and get something submitted soon!


Hey there. This is my submission for a Magus that likes to touch things with his sword. (That sounded better in my head). Definitely good for a melee or secondary melee sort of guy.

Possessing strong Ulfen features, Caius’s skin is a lightly tanned bronze that serves to enhance his handsome appearance. His long blond hair and green eyes serve as a sharp reminder of his foreign heritage. Typically Caius is dressed in well-crafted and form fitting attire, striving to both show off his muscular frame and allow for freedom in combat. Ever pragmatic, Caius prioritizes function over form and can be seen wearing tough and heavy duty explorer’s clothes with ample pockets, and a thick cloak for warmth.

Personality:

For an Ulfen, Caius is extremely well spoken and well mannered, preferring to cultivate a calm, humble and hardworking attitude. He is intently driven to always be carrying his ‘share’ of the work and takes great care to never be seen as ‘slacking’ or doing anything other than his best. Often times his focused personality can cause him to lose sight of a situation, but it was a necessary survival tactic he developed to survive his years in the Arcanamirium.

Background:

Born on Erastus 19th 4690, Caius was born in the far away city of Halgrim. In his early life, he remembers growing up on an Ulfen trade ship with his parents, Atsa and Erak, as they travelled from port city to port city trading goods. Overtime as their holdings grew and Caius’s parents became more successful they chose to settle in the cosmopolitan island of Absalom in order to better manage their growing fleet. However, as their holdings grew they became less and less present in Caius’s life preferring to leave the raising of Caius and his siblings to hired retainers. This freedom led Caius to delve inward, focusing on books, stories, and history.

One day while exercising his lack of omnipresent adult supervision, Caius decided to sit in on the yearly test offered by the Arcanamirium. As luck smiled on him or by some hidden skill, he was graded quite well by the tutors and received the rank of an apprentice. When Caius asked to be signed up at Arcanamirium his parents saw a chance to ship an extra mouth away from the household, do good by their son (without actually having to do anything), and save money on the retainers they paid to watch him. They agreed with hardly a complaint, even if magic was not a ‘traditional’ Ulfen practice.

In addition to his arcane aptitude Caius expressed a great interest and skill in physical combat, relishing any opportunity he had to compete with others, and anything to do with sword play. His energy and desire ensured he was enrolled into a mixed training program focusing both on martial and arcane pursuits.The brutality and competitiveness of Caius’s years in the Arcanmirium was legendary, from being woken up at the crack of dawn for physical training, to being forced to calculate arcane variables while being doused by buckets of cold water. Caius developed the focused mind and discipline needed to walk the path of the Magus, along with the hard body needed to survive hand to hand combat.

As Caius began to complete his studies at the Arcanmirium, he became fascinated by the few technological relics that were held by the college. Items that seemed nearly identical to his magic, yet more ordered and logical like something made from a forge, not to mention the mystery of Skymetal itself! Caius spent his years in the Arcanmirium piecing together dozens of half reports from school professors and bothering grizzled Pathfinders for fragments of Androffan text, as he attempted to learn the dead language.

Now, years later, Caius has long exhausted everything that Absalom had about Numeria. Canceling all of his obligations, he set off for the city of Torch deep in the heart of Numeria to continue his research.


Continuing on. Arelian moves to explore the north eastern rooms. He peers inside when he finds a door to the room he's looking for.

His uncharacteristic long blonde hair and blue eyes serves as an indication of a non Taldan heritage, which serves to catch the attention of everyone in a predominantly dark haired and eyed country. Typically Halcyon is dressed in well-crafted and functional attire, striving to match the ever changing fashion trends that emerge among the noble families. When traveling on the road, Halcyon prioritizes function over form and can be seen wearing tough and heavy duty explorer’s clothes with ample pockets, and a thick cloak for warmth.

Halcyon is a very social person, able to talk to people of all walks of life and does not mind being the centre of attention. His time as a mercenary has taught him to be a leader amongst men and in battle he is quick to shout orders, or to take decisive actions.

Background:

Halcyon was born on Gozran 18th, 4689 into the Lebeda noble family through the union of Daris Rastler and Misha Lebeda. Daris, a native of Absalom and an adventurer belonging to the Pathfinder Society met Misha when his group hired passage on a Lebeda merchant ship while travelling up the East Sellen River. Misha was onboard as the family representative of the trade delegation representing any negotiations that needed to be done in the family’s name.

Over the long trip the two became friends, and a few years later when Daris’s adventuring days were behind him and Misha no longer travelled regularly for the family they settled down together in Silverhall and started a family. While scandalized that a noble was marrying down to a ‘common adventurer’, the doubts and protests quickly fell away once Daris’s contacts from the River Kingdoms and Absalom opened an entirely new avenue of trade for the family, provided the gold didn’t stop flowing.

Halcyon’s parents were successful enough to allow him to grow up within the Lebeda family castle, Silverhall, with his siblings and maintained friendly relationships with both Lander, Elanna and a number of the other noble children before the pressures and expectations of being in the ‘main line’ of the family house took over the majority of their time and education. Not having the same expectations as his cousins, Halcyon was able to be freer with his education and at his father’s urging was enrolled in a formal academy in New Stetven to learn proper rhetoric and gain a better breadth of knowledge in hopes of being able to one day contribute to the family business.

On a lark, Daris suggested to an instructor that Halcyon be tested for magical aptitude, expecting to play a practical joke on his eldest son. What they found out however, was that Halcyon possessed an unparalleled gift in Arcane magic. As a retired adventurer he knew the impact magic could have on the world and as an indulgent father he could not but help encourage Halcyon’s interest. Halcyon took to the study of magic quickly and naturally, eventually outpacing his teachers, and graduated from the college in record time.

While living in the city of New Stetven Halcyon felt the increased of tension between House Surtova and the other noble familes, as well as witnessing the growing division based on Issian and Rostlandian lines between the populace. It forced him to reassess his role in society. He felt that as a noble of the people he needed to do something, something to give the people hope and stability. He felt that as someone given the gifts he was, owed the people to do something extraordinary with his life. Deciding he needed more experience to be of service to the people, Halcyon made a drastic change in his life, he left home to join a mercenary company in the River Kingdoms, far from the cushion his family name brought. For a number of years he toured with mercenary bands, signing up for a number of conflicts, learning about the realities of combat, and what it took to command men.

Now a battle hardened mercenary, Halcyon has returned home and looks to make a name for himself in the stolen lands. It is his goal to explore the stolen lands and clear out the bandits and monsters that inhabit it and make himself a new home.


I will have a flip through the AP's player guide and see if something jumps out at me to cover the Healing or Muscle role! I will try and have something up tonight or tomorrow!


Quick question!

Do you have any issues with a monks? I have had some DM's generally unenthusiastic with them. My intention would be to build him straight out of the CRB with the intention of party support for the 'other' slot.
