Lin Kai's page

The next morning, Kai takes a stroll down the town square. The destruction caused by the alien attack is clearly still evident, but he is heartened that life is returning to some normalcy. While townsfolk do what they can to clear the debris, many others are making attempts to carry on their lifes as normal. "The resilience of the human spirit. Admirable as ever," Kai mutters to himself, smiling.

He returns to the inn, taking the time to visit each of the members of the Red Arm to bid them farewell. "Before the Society sent me on the way, the reputation of the Red Arms had long preceded itself. But actually meeting each and everyone of you has indeed been not just a pleasure, but an inspiration. I trust that our paths will cross again - Golarion is after all just one planet," he jests as he holds up an orrery sphere. He turns more solemn as he shakes each of their hands in turn. "But should our journeys fail to cross again, know that Kai is honored to have been a member, even if just a brief while. Farewell, all."

Hoisting his longspear over his shoulder, and with a final wave, Kai steps onto the open road and takes his next step.

So, even though I only joined the Red Arms for this one brief mission, thanks nonetheless for having me. Got have the feather in my cap!

As Kai circles around to flank the alien with his teammates, he pulls out a small vial that seems to be faintly glowing. Once in position, he pours its content over his weapon and it starts to glow with holy light.

Use oil of bless weapon.

Kai grunts as he lets the mental infection wash through him. "Creature of darkness. Think not that your foul intentions will be allowed to pass!" Grabbing a vial from one of his pouch, he dumps the contents over his head and he starts to glow! He steps forward, menancing with his spear.

Use oil of daylight on himself. I understand that negates the deeper darkness and is itself negated. So we're back to ambient light, which I have no idea what it is. :)

The emissary is in his threat so in case it does anything to provoke AoO...

Sorry forgot to ask just now. Would there have been time to down one last extract before the Emissary landed? i.e. he sees it descending from heaven and Kai gulps one more extract? If so, he would like to drink displacement.

Noting the impending arrival of the Emissary, Kai quickly gulps down the contents of a few other vials in quick succession and disappears from view!

Was there anytime between these two combats? If so, Kai would have like to drink more buffs, seeing the Emissary is close.

"This is getting out of hand!" Kai grunts in anger. "Invading the planet is one thing, but to mutate these innocents!" Kai moves up Dalvis and strikes with the butt of his spear.

Made a mistake in my AoO attack roll. Forgot was enlarged but never mind.

(How long more before we estimate the big bad to be arriving? We knew it was 2 hours away when we were at the caves, and it has since been one hour? Trying to time when to drink some extracts / potions.)

Kai can only hear the commotion from where he is, but it does not sound good. He rushes out to see the mayhem that the polymorphed man is causing. He grabs a vial from his bandolier and downs the content, almost immediately doubling in size! Hope that draws his attention enough away from the civilians. He crouches low with his spear raised.

"Sir D. has it right. We will move to Pharasma's realm one day. But not today." Kai smiles warmly at his newfound friends, with the confidence that whatever evil arrives would be defeated. And if not, having the peace that they would have done their best.

As he follows Gallix out of the inn, his eyes are drawn to the sky, hoping to catch an early glance of its arrival, just so that they might gain some precious moments to prepare.

In a very deliberately measured tone, Kai appeals to Mr Peppers. "Yes, this is a most marvellous creation. But can any artifact, no matter its value, be worth the life of even one innocent?" In a bid to find a compromise, he continues to propose, "How about we use the limited time we have left to study this item, and only when the Emissary is near arrival do we destroy it?"

Even as Kai stands guard with his weapons drawn over his new-found teammates while the vision takes its toll on them, he feels a sense of despair grip his heart. "How do we face such a monster?" he mutters.

Finally though, he summons up courage from within. "Face him we must. Come, we need to return and prepare the villagers."

Shaking off the enchantment with ease, Kai closed in quickly while keeping the path clear for the rest of his team. "I apologise for this indignity but this in indeed for your own good." Glad that the encounter has not devolved into combat, uncertain if the man(?) is cursed or an alien. Kai spends a moment to study him.

Kai studies his companions as they tidy up after the short and furious battle. They carry their own weight and work well together. A good team to be in.

He remains standing at the door, keeping watch while the rest of the team gets ready.

Kai has combat reflexes and longarrm with reach weapon, so can AoO yellow when it approached. Not sure the path taken by pink but will roll an AoO for it as well just in case.

The ever ready Kai jabs his longspear at the approaching golems even as he deftly ducks under the clumsy blow of the one in front of him. He is momentarily taken aback when the golems peel back their covering, but that gives him enough warning to duck out of the path of most of the splinters.

Finding the space to cramped for him to wield his weapon easily, Kai steps out of the room then sends his longspear piercing repeatedly into the body of the same golem.

Kai curses audibly under his breath. He hates such ghostly creatures, for his weapon attacks are limited. He focuses his mind, aiming for where he determines are vulnerable spots that hopefully his magical spear can rend apart.

Kai awake refreshed but troubled. If the cult could create this level of chaos in a small village, he wonders what level of madness would descend upon Absalom, his home city, should they have struck there. He ponders how quickly the curse would spread through a much larger population that depends on only a few water sources, and how much more challenging it would be to provide sufficient magically created water for all the residents even if it was caught in time. He shudders at the thought.

"Agreed. We need to put an end to this scourge as quickly as possible."

He gulps down the contents of an extract before setting off.

Kai also sets down his mug immediately. Turning to Dalviss, he requests, "Please, bring me to the local water supplies immediately. I need to test which are polluted, and hopefully, find sources that are safe." Turning back to his party, "In the mean time, we might need to find magical means to supply the town with safe drinking water until we can be sure to end the threat of the cult for good. Would the local clerics be able to help?"

"Ageed, Sirettis. We should track down this elven oracle, even if only to ... help her."

Kai glances at Mr Peppers, wondering why he is staring. When he sees him gestures to the two unmoving forms, he nods in understanding. Then, rather surprising, the usually collected Kai looks somewhat embarassed "Apologies, but my medicinal skills are somewhat... lacking. It was an area of study that I had always thought of looking into, but somehow it never came up."

He's got no skill point in heal so that's just a -1. :)

Oh well, guess it doesn't really matter with all those attacks. He has enough movement to get where to go with or without flight.

Kai holds back slightly, waiting to see how the rest of the team fights. Seeing all the attention on the spellcaster, and rightly so, he also quickly moves up. From around the samurai, he jabs his spear at her.

He targets green (with soft cover), but if she's already down, then red instead (no cover).

Keeping his face and voice neutral, Kai simply nods. He has negotiated with too many criminals to know not to take everything at face value. "Indeed, this information is most intriguing. If I might ask, what exactly is the nature of this artifact that you wish to acquire? I know, it might not be of my business, but seeing how we would be entering into the danger zone, whatever information might be useful." He pauses here, as if considering something. "Hmm, these dream crystals mutated poor Sonarisa? Would it not do the same to us?"

Kai’s past experiences working with low life of Absalom guided him almost immediately to the heel of the shoe. He quietly retrieved the gem and shows it to the rest of the team.

Before he proceeds though, he turns to Sirettis with concern. ”Sirettis, you look badly wounded from that attack. Is there anything we can do?”

Kai similarly steps forward, pleased that his teammates have kept a space for him. With his longspear, he keeps up his successive attacks on this ethereal creature.

While all that conversation is taking place, Kai quietly pulls out a wand and activates it on himself.

Kai looks to each of his new teammates and merely nods, indicating his willingness to follow. With her constant mumbling, there is little chance for stealth, but he still does what he can to stay silent. Raising his longspear, he follows along.

"Do you think it is important to know what she's saying? I have this wand that allows me to comprehend languages but it only works on the wielder. Too bad I lost my invisibility earlier, but I could sneak forward to listen."

i.e. Kai taps himself with wand of comprehend languages and stealth forward. Thoughts?

Charming smile? Kai looks askance at Mr Peppers but decides not to comment. Instead, following Gallix's lead, he pulls out a similar wand to activate on himself.
