Will vs Corruption: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32 Alarmed by the sickening feeling of the webs, Leon starts to back out of the area. I'm interested in the story, but maybe they'll continue talking even if we aren't in their zone of bad things.

I think we're close to the point where just fighting might be the thing to do. Looking at the map, the only doors I see are where the riled-up giants are or these owbs. The only alternative coming to mind is using Passwall to create a new opening somewhere.

Restoration is a good idea. It will take a minute off our buffs to cast though. Leon is drained 6 Strength. Lacking a better plan, I'd say let's go to the northeast through that blue-bar door thing.

I'll post assuming that the dragon is within Leon's reach. If not, Leon will use Iomedae's Inspiring Sword again (the buff isn't expired but he might as well keep it up in case he needs to do something different next turn). Did that dragon bite hit Leon? He's not penalized for blindness due to Blind Fight, but the attack is over his AC unless he has Barkskin running. I don't remember if that got cast yet or not. If in reach: Attack #1 (inspire courage, iomedae's inspiring sword, power attack): 1d20 + 18 + 2 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (3) + 18 + 2 + 2 - 3 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 10 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (7) + (3, 4) + 10 + 9 + 2 = 35 Self Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Attack #1 (inspire courage, iomedae's inspiring sword, iterative, power attack): 1d20 + 18 + 2 + 2 - 5 - 3 ⇒ (15) + 18 + 2 + 2 - 5 - 3 = 29

Fort vs Dragon Breath: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
Leon looks straight at the dragon as it unleashes it's shadowy breath and feels his strength slipping away. Blindness Rounds: 1d4 ⇒ 4 Unable to see or reach the creature, Leon lifts his sword high as he channels the power of the Inheritor to aid them in their time of need. This is Iomedae's Inspiring Sword & grants allies that can see Leon a +2 sacred bonus to attacks, saves & skills for two rounds. It likely won't be immediately relevant, but Leon has Blind Fight & won't suffer from being blind as badly.

Can't verify my position. Somewhere in the front of the group. Reflex #1: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
Leon follows the group, attempting to stay hidden where possible, as they infiltrate deeper into the fortress.

No changes. I went after the ground targets, which is what Leon would be good at. 5' step toward the gate. I'm guessing that triggers a readied action. Leon full attacks. Does the gate apply any attack penalties? Checking above, it looks like inspiration is up. I'm not sure whether we applied our Barkskin spells yet. "Let them come and prove their mettle. For now it is your turn," Leon says grimly. Attack #1 (inspired, power attack): 1d20 + 18 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (4) + 18 + 2 - 3 = 21
Attack #2 (inspired, power attack, iterative): 1d20 + 18 + 2 - 3 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 18 + 2 - 3 - 5 = 25

I'm not seeing other enemies on the ground and outside the walls. Seeing his companions meeting with some success in neutralizing the enemy giants and tower guards, Leon advances on the gate itself. Move up and total defense. He should be 5' away from the gate if I'm seeing things right.

Had to get an idea of the situation before I posted. I think our #1 problem is getting inside the building, right? I think someone had a Passwall? Leon moves up to the obb and attempts to smite the undead-looking owb. Using the advanced form of Iomedae's Inspiring Sword.

I'm confused by Farrar's suggestion. Killing the commandos and taking their uniforms makes some sense. We'd cause a ruckus in the village, but that might be better than assaulting the castle head on. I don't see why a prisoner angle would come into it though. Convincing the guards to bring us in as prisoners sounds like a really foolish idea, unless I'm missing something that was packed into innuendo. How many of us are bad at stealth? I think that number was low but nonzero when we started, though we've had at least one replacement since then. If we did try to tunnel in from the back, what would the distance be?

Even if we have the skills to talk to the commandos, it has a good chance of starting a fight in the middle of town, which would be bad. Leon would rather scout. Also, I'm not going to try to make 100+ natural 20 saving throws. Assuming shadowy conditions

"It might be risky, but we'd be better off continuing on to our goal," says Leon. "This whole place feels wrong, and we shouldn't remain here longer than needed." Resist Corruption (DC 16): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17

Leon's revised purchases will be a Pearl of Power II (to help get a Barkskin) and improving his cloak to Cloak of Resistance +3 (from a +1 version, so 8k for that). Better saves probably won't help long-term vs the corruption, but we don't need another Confusion incident if it can be helped. That's a flat 12k.

Ah, that is a pricey piece. So, if we sold it, we'd get 12,500 and would bring our per-player allotment to a bit short of 7000. Thanks for the clarification on the corruption. The full version would actually be an interesting story as well, I guess. It's good to know the score for our current game. If the corruption is bringing us closer to the Reborn, I think Leon will still try to resist it even if that looks hopeless.

I don't think I'd been paying sufficient attention to the shadowbound corruption stuff. Finally read the link and it helped in some ways. Need confirmation in others. The progression section in particular is pretty concerning, but we haven't seen anything too related to that section so far. I think? Seems like it could be hard to remain a paladin if we delve very far into that. It's one thing if we're being physically corrupted, but if this area is drawing us into evil intentions, we should get through here as quickly as we can. On to the Foresaken Fane would be Leon's vote. And resisting his corruption, though that seems unlikely to last for long at one save/minute.

We should also snag a fresh Wand of Cure Light Wounds if we have the funds. You never know when post-combat healing needs are going to get egregious.

Finished up Leon's level 10. He gained a fourth smite and his first level 3 spell, which I used to memorize Archon's Aura. I'm also assuming the purchase of the Pearl of Power II, which he'll plan to have Nyxis use for more Barkskin. I'd still recommend a purchase of a Lesser Metamagic Rod of Extend Spell by someone in the party. If we end up with the funds left over after everyone is done, Leon could also use an upgrade of his Cloak of Resistance +1 for 3000.

My estimate based on the loot sheet: Total cash on hand (gp value): 17,455.8
Total value available: 22,385.8 If we just divide that by 5 players evenly, we get something like 4k gold to buy things with. The drider rod could change things a lot--I can't think of something that does str/con damage like that off the top of my head so it could be a big chunk of value. If 4k is close to correct, though, I'll get that Pearl of Power II we discussed earlier.

As far as carrying the valuable supplies here goes, Leon can probably manage that. His heavy burden is 520 lbs. I haven't recently looked at exactly how much weight he normally carries, but it's highly likely that an additional 250 lbs is under his carrying capacity at heavy. This assumes that someone else can carry/support Artis (assuming she still needs that after magical healing).
HP 94/94 Temp 0 | Shadow Smite: 4/4, Lay on Hands 9/9, Pearl of Power I & II | Init: +3 | AC 23, touch 12, flat 21, CMD 27 | Archon's Aura, Effortless Armor, Paladin's Sacrifice, Hero's Defiance, Lesser Restoration
For purchases, I'm not sure I am reading the loot spreadsheet correctly, either. It has items well-assigned, but I don't see any loose unclaimed items that we can sell. Maybe there are none, which would be valid (just unexpected). Given the uncertainty, I'll just put out a wishlist. Basic: I'll start with spell support rather than an item. Leon's AC is his most glaring shortage as a frontliner. If he could get a Barkskin (or two in a longer dungeon, possibly extended if we can foot that), that would help him out more than anything else he could reasonably expect to get here. If spell slots are short, I'd be happy to recommend the purchase of a Pearl of Power II and/or Lesser Metamagic Rod of Extend Spell to assist with that. If that sort of spell support isn't available, Leon could pick up a +1 Light Shield or +2 Light Shield as an alternative. I don't think it would hugely impact his offensive performance. Heavy shields are hard to work in with spellcasting, which is why I don't suggest those. If those purchases aren't needed or we still have money left the next best thing would be an upgrade for his Cloak of Resistance +1. An upgrade for his +2 Shadow Full Plate would be nice but I'm guessing will be out of range. Anything beyond that (like sword, headband or belt upgrades) I highly suspect would be outside of budget.

Do we have the ability to upgrade gear, instead of just buying new stuff? I haven't looked at what kind of funds we have available yet, but upgrading Leon's Shadow full plate to +3 would be helpful, just as an example.

It didn't help that when Leon did finally get a full attack off that I started rolling garbage. For Leon's confusion I'm just watching to see if he takes any damage. For our level-up period, is there enough of a break to do some shopping? If possible, it would be good to get some upgrades and/or new gear.

Still confused and suddenly much weaker, Leon still knows who his foe is. With that constitution damage, Leon's hp maximum is 67 and he already has 58 damage taken. Leon frowned when he learned that their foes had gotten away. "Slippery foes indeed. But they aren't what we came here for." I see Leon with 27 remaining damage. Quite probably, some of that would be healed up by Nyxis. In lieu of figuring out the exact math on that, I'll just have Leon cure himself for all 27 hit points. I don't know exactly what caused Leon's fatigue. Does it expire quickly? Is it possible for someone to make a Spellcraft check to do so? If the duration isn't short, Leon can use a Lesser Restoration to get rid of the condition. Leon Healing:
Wand of Cure Light Wounds (41 charges remaining): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 20 damage remaining
Wand of Cure Light Wounds (40 charges remaining): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 14 damage remaining Wand of Cure Light Wounds (39 charges remaining): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 9 damage remaining Wand of Cure Light Wounds (38 charges remaining): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 7 damage remaining Wand of Cure Light Wounds (37 charges remaining): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 0 damage remaining Leon also cast Effortless Armor last at Aiyana's manor but I have it crossed off. He'll cast it when we're ready to move again, so that works.
