Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

Korg sits down tired and looks at Darts. "What do you mean by that you don't go back to the village? The Chief is waiting for us."

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

Attack (Two-Handed, Rage): 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 = 20
Damage (Cutlass): 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Sorry about delay, had a mild food poisoning

Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7

Korg misses (I think).

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

Korg opens the door again, this time with more emphasis

ah yes, I wish science would advance as far to make everyone able to have photographic memory, that would have a revolutionary effect on copyright laws I assume

so, leather gloves or something like that can't be enchanted to be used with unarmed attacks?

it would make sense, but I guess it isn't by rules then?

skr?

wow, okay, my bad then, yay there is a way now :)

For a Aasamir Monk, multiclassing into Barbarian is a good option.
This is done easier with the new trait:

this interests me, but how exactly can a chaotic barbarian still work for the multiclassing with the monk?

I already noticed how well a Serene Barbarian / Monk concept would synergy (it basically shouts this should be done), but I didn't find any method other than houserules to get this working.

Of cooourse Korg was joking ^_^

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

Korg snickered. "Okay, you go first then." He obviously didn't mean it... or did he?

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

Korg shrugs at the scene, and tries not to look. "This is a reason why I don't eat anything that can speak. Except parrots, parrots are tasty, they taste like chicken. It would make us just as bad as Vorka, and who would want to eat humans and such anyway? Not to mention fellow goblins, eew." He still watches the door, waiting for any kind of reaction.

"Hm, maybe we should just take a peek inside?"

My take on it: the two cancel out for the most part, causing the weapon to revert to the original damage type. Since deadly can only be placed on weapons that ordinarily do nonlethal, that means the damage type is nonlethal. For a whip, that'd be nonlethal +1d6 (merciful), with the ability to harm armored foes. And the odd quality of being able to take a -4 penalty to hit to do lethal damage, normally incompatible with merciful.

If I'd thought of it, I'd probably have excluded it being stackable with merciful, but I don't think it's a big deal either way.

Another way to read it is that when both are active the weapon deals no damage whatsoever.

Merciful prevents any lethal damage and Deadly prevents any non-lethal damage.

wrong, very wrong

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

"Let's see if the captain is home." Korg places his ear on the door.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Perception

Then knocks on it.

it does make sense, even if it sounds silly, a vorpal merciful weapon would cause just slightly more nonlethal damage than a non-merciful lethal vorpal weapon, just enough to deal enough non-lethal damage to make it deadly, if you ride on words then let's point out there is no "-nonlethal" damage and that is made up, all damage can be lethal, and by rules non-lethal damage can also kill

in the end a merciful vorpal blade may be exactly what it is called, a merciful weapon that either makes you lose consciousness or kill you outright without much pain

any official word/errata on it somewhere?

meanwhile, prepare plan B for the case no time will be enough, there must be other groups too

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

"Yep, and whatever is down is sure to hear you." Korg adds.

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

"Down in ship, something may still be there. Pirate ghosts perhaps." Korg reacts to the sound.

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

I readied an action no need to roll init.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 Attack
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Crit. Check
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 Damage

Korg strikes true and cuts deep into the head of the still living dog, but the wound could have been even worse, as only a slightly less wide attack would have hit the eye socket and through it the brain.

I'm pretty sure that a high attribute does not give you bonus to spells known only slots per day.
That is correct. Only feats and traits can modify the spells known table. Your Stat bonuses only modify your casting slots per day.

unless you would only get blank spell slots, in that case you get at least one spell for that spell rank

Isonaroc, in that case I would rename "Smite Evil" into "Smite Rival/Opponent", give paladins a Detect Charm or Detect Undead maybe and all would be fine

I don't know/understand the Golarion setting much, but as far I know there is a communist/atheist realm that banned religion, I wonder how as per game they are handled, are they considered Evil because they deny the right of freedom of choice and worship of their religion, self-determination, or does it have neutral or even good members among its leadership/hierarchy?

That is until the party Rogue started severing his digits, plucked his right eye out of socket and made him eat it and finally they resorted to torturing him to near death with positive energy (the min-maxing PCs used Selective Spell with Antimagic Field). Eventually he disclosed the location of his master after having lost a hand, an eye and both feet and being ritualistically tortured for a few hours."

I'm not really a sadistic guy (much) but this had me spitting out my coffee in laughter. I especially liked the part about making the undead eat his own eye.

Is torture inherently evil? Questionable.

"evil" and "good" are made up ideas in a world of ever changing morale standards, thus I would say nothing is inherently good or evil

the problem is that basic D&D uses this alignment system what creators made upon their opinion that good and evil exist and can have extremes, as long "Detect Evil" and "Smite Evil" exist in a setting it greatly limits reasonable ideological (or basically: overall) roleplaying because no matter how great the reasoning and explanation of a person is to justify deeds, a paladin can point at them and call "EEEEVIIIL!" and that depends on what the GM itself considers evil or good. (of course a disguised anti-paladin could just as well shout evil at a good person but I think you understand what I try to say)

I am pretty sure basic D&D alignments also differ greatly depending on what society and culture/religion the players are of, a group from a part of the USA is most likely to consider evil/good acts differently than an x culture European, an Arabian, or a Japanese group of players. (add to this a mix of personal religious beliefs to make it extra spicy)
Despite all of them using the same rule books.

if we throw out ingame good/evil related effects and spells we get a more reasonable/realistic world where all religions also have their own idea of what is good or bad, and there is no invisible overlord that dictates what is truly evil or good (ergo the alignment system)

wildblooded is basically like a subdomain, classes that get domain access can also pick a subdomain instead, so it is not a stretch that wildblooded works the same way

I can read, I will stop them from drinking it if I have to.

Korg wanders to the door and also tries to hear what is going inside.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Perception (Yes, I also hate the auto-dices just as they hate me)

As Korg hears the sounds he readies his weapon again, he is by now somewhat tired, and would like to avoid raging if possible.

"We could place trap here before opening door, maybe." He whispers.

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

it could still work with groups always getting mixed and having various goals but be on the same "world/plane of existence", would work especially well with a kingmaker campaign

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

so, will we get a level up?

also, as we go now into continuation of the game, is there a chance all 3 player groups of goblins could get gathered into one? and maybe increase the 15 ability points to 25 to improve our characters further?

I would say playing as goblins would justify a "heroic" point count, plus it would be fun if somehow all groups would be united, I believe every other group also finished Vorka by now.

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Survival/Track

Korg looks for the trail the giant frog left. "We aren't done yet, we eat frog legs today!"

Korg looks over to Slicy as she hacks off the head of Vorka. "Good she was already dead, don't want you to take my job as executioner away."

Torture is NOT good.

End of argument; this shouldn't even be up for debate.

It doesn't matter if you do it against undead or evil people.

If they harmed you, you can still be Neutral and out for revenge.

If they did nothing to you, you're evil, period.

The 'Dexter' character is still evil. He's just bound by his code to only take his evil out on other evil people.

Torture is good, it must be, it has a long tradition being performed ever since humanity exists up to today, often those who actually tried to resolve crimes were the torturers themselves, tormenting is an other thing :)

... now for real, I consider torture a chaotic act, maybe a lawful Neutral act, but not evil. It being evil just became a common reaction to it since about WW1, it is just another of a dozen+ examples how morale standards change, there are many things like sexual orientation or non-standard religious believes that were also considered once evil, in a lot of places even today.

She was on ground, then stood up, this action is why we get at least one AoO against her. Simply because she stands up, which is a move action. I guess she will go back down if my new trip also succeeds. The more allies are around the enemy the more useful trip becomes: one human getting tripped among 8 goblins means if the human stands up 8 goblins get an AoO against it

Heh :P I think we massacre it this turn even without a new trip, nice rolls there Slicy.

Male Goblin Titan Mauler HP 14 | AC 17 | T 13| FF 16 | CMD 12 | F 4| R 1 | W -1| Init 3 | Per 6

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 AoO 1 (+2 if flanked, normal attack)
1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 1 = 19 AoO 2/Normal Attack (+2 if flanked, trip maneuver) => She gets an AoO against Korg too

I have a +1 Dex modifier and no Combat Reflexes, Not sure why/how we would get 2 AoO's at once, so I took one AoO and the normal turn attack.

damage for AoO:
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Korg planned to hold Vorka down, but as she stands up and begins to flee he can just barely slash at her as he regains balance. Jumping after Vorka Korg tries to trip it once again before she gets out of his reach.

If trip succeeds don't forget she suffers -4 AC against melee but gets +4 AC against ranged for the others. Don't know about her "buffs", but Natural armor is ignored in combat maneuvers so Barkskin is ignored for tripping.

Not necessarily. I can't remember who said it (Jacobs, maybe?), but, when facing a TON of flack after promising no armor plated and spiked dire animals, and publishing exactly those type of pics in B1, the official line was "we really didn't like the art work, but we were pushing against a deadline and didn't have time to have it redone". So, the "official" interpretation is no spikes and armor, even though the art work depicted such.

So in other words, we are free to go with Catfolk that look like the B3 version, and with ones that look like the ARG version? Or heck, even go for the heresy of putting cat ears and a cat tail on a human and call it a catfolk*?! That should put this whole "you are doing it wrong" debate to a close.

* = Though I'd say that character is a catfolk-human hybrid if anything.

I pick the "heresy" one then :)

hm, weird, I am unsure too, my guess is the spell was cast earlier so I didn't get an AoO as you said, but it is a spell so it would have made an AoO if we were near when it was cast. I could be mistaken and we may/should get an AoO every time she throws a "piece of it" too. Anyway, rolled a natural 20 (damn rare with the auto-dices) so she lies before me. hm, just some links

Numbah 1
Numbah 2
Numbah 3

I can see these do a genocidal rush on undead, or torture them to death for revenge (Yes, everything that is sentient or alive can feel pain in many forms, even undead feel their flesh being burned or the pain from holy water. I may be even more biased towards that as I often played World of Darkness and Vampires)

The opposite of these as example could be the race restricted Redeemer Paladin, looking at the world/situation in an other light.

An Inquisitor would have no problems doing torture for various reasons, more sadistic people can easily be imagined to be a member among them. They are also followers of a god and divine casters, it can easily be seen that if something an Inquisitor does doesn't make it lose divine benevolence, then the same should be true for paladins of the same deity. If a character is a multiclass (or gestalt) Inquisitor/Paladin or Cleric/Inquisitor there is no way one could justify taking away half its divine support while not the other half. (yes, Inquisitors can be Lawful Good and thus also have paladin levels, clerics already work along the same alignment lines as Inquisitor)

To be clearer: Even those who argue against torturing done by good people/paladins would have no right to take away any powers from a multiclass Inquisitor even if also a Paladin, as its the same person, worshiping the same deity, following the same doctrines. Hey, sure, that person may not lie or backstab, but it could still torture a vampire up close and personal.

BGM - Korg's Battle Theme

Korg notices Slicy being at the ship and that she got hurt as he peeks out from behind a rock. "Stupid woman messed up my plan!" Now that the Vorka didn't get lured off the ship Korg decided to rush to the rescue of the female goblin.

As he charges at the old witch Korg shouts a reply at it. "Sorry to disappoint you but we are not staying for dinner, and I doubt you would be willing to converse in an exciting intellectual debate over tea with us either! If you want to surrender now is your chance, then I take you before the Chief alive!" Well yep, when Korg focuses on something, like in battle, he speaks often "weird".

1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 = 18 Attack: Not using potion, using Rage and Charge if needed to reach there though. (if no charge then 2 less bonus to attack)

1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Damage: two-handed

just have Korg act when his own time comes at turn
