Alter sends out a message to the group in all caps, "CARS ARE SHIELDED! NEED TO DAMAGE THE UNDERSIDE!"

Getting frustrated as she turns away from the corpsec cars for a moment and turns her matrix vision over to find one of the many automated shipping trucks that travel the high ways of Seattle. While her avatar pulls up a list of her programs and starts to switch a few out. Two AROs pop out of existence as she pulls up her library and searches through until she finds the one she wants. The loading bar starting up as she quickly brings the Command program up, blocks of data starting to form into a new ARO.

Dropping Analyze and going to load Command next turn.

Ok, here goes.

So, there's an interesting history behind the Shattered Isles and the Cataclysm that befell the ancient lands that Duskwall inhabits. The Cataclysm closed the Gates of Death, the sun was shattered and volcanoes and earthquakes destroyed most of the southern lands leaving the Shattered Isles shifted and magically held together near each other. The moon looms closer and closer with each passing year and ghosts, demons, and vampires infest our cities and make the Deathlands a place that deserves its name. Humans have adapted to these changes as we always do and now the study of all these mystical forces (Spectrology, Rituals, Alchemy, and Spark-craft) gives humans the ability to interact with the strange and terrible forces that have infested our broken world. There are powers out there with hidden agendas and tomes of knowledge long lost to the Imperium just waiting for those with the will to reach out and make that power their own.

That's what makes me interested in telling a story about the Cults. Us interacting with the terrible and horrifying for whatever reason draws us individually into the promise of power.

As for your... stipulation, Vrog... to be honest, with the differences between Tycherosi and Akorosi (not to mention the other races and their cultures) its very unlikely that we'd all be worshiping under some unified heading or understanding of whatever Forgotten God we end up picking. But that's ok! Different interpretations and sects of a cult can be interesting too. Its something to discuss and a Forgotten God can have many interpretations.

So, that's my elevator pitch.

Alright, I've put down some thoughts and possible reactions Alter might have to the rest of the crew, except for Michael Shepherd because that backstory hasn't been put up yet. Alter is pretty complicated when it comes to interpersonal relationships since she has different memories of each person.

"Blue" - Shaman
Hikari: Finds Blue odd and unsettling, avoids
Taiyo: Thinks he's stuck up like most Elves are
Tsuki: Likes to play tricks back on Blue

Charles Berger/"Bronze" - Street Sam
Hikari: Scared of Bronze
Taiyo: Likes to go with Bronze to the firing range to practice with her new cyberarm
Tsuki: Thinks he needs to have more fun

Dan Morgan/"Junkyard" - Mechanic & B&E
Hikari: Enjoys sitting in silence and knows she can do that around Dan.
Taiyo: Is very expressive in her hatred of Derek, probably expecting Dan to back her up.
Tsuki: Wants to get Dan out of his shell, loosen him up so he can enjoy more of life.

Ismail Ulyanovich Aslanov/"Bogatir" - Street Sam
Hikari: Reminds her of Desperado, the man who broke her out of Renraku, soft spot
Taiyo: Feels comfortable around Bogatir, protected
Tsuki: Gives Bogatir a lot of crap for his melancholic attitude, doesn't really consider his shorter lifespan or know about his condition

"Michael Shepherd" - One Punch Man Adept & B&E
Unknown, don't know anything yet.

None of these are set in stone, just some initial thoughts.

Bogatir: The backstory you wrote for Bogatir (which is great btw) made me think of Alter's rescuer Desperado. Not exactly the same of course but a security expert who's just looking for some peace and quiet. If we included Bogatir in the accident, I imagine Taiyo (the personality that surfaced when she lost her arm) would give Bogatir a lot of crap for it but it wouldn't really be anger, that's definitely reserved for Derek.

Don't be so hard on yourself GM June, PBP DMing has its own quirks and challenges separate from a table game. You are doing well. :)

Lyra's Story:
Kaswor’s Journal

One night, while I was travelling along a caravan route in the River Kingdoms, the night swiftly approached and I found myself standing at a crossroads. At first I thought I was alone but a campfire was already burning brightly as I rounded the corner of a hill. At this campfire was a cloaked and hooded figure, their camp already setup with tent and a roasting spit that held several rabbits on its ends. Obviously this was a person of long campaigning who had grown accustomed to living in the wilds of this world. With a deep breath I stepped up to this person with a hand on my sword hilt. At first the stranger didn’t seem to notice me at all. Merely staring into the fire pit, this person was obviously deep in thought over some matter that deeply troubled him (her?).

However, without any indication that the person had noticed me at all, an oddly shaped sword was pointed in my direction in the blink of an eye. The sword curved to a bulge three-fourths of the way up blade before quickly diving back into a sharp point at the end. Along the flat of the blade I could barely make out the shape of leaf veins against the flickering light of the camp fire.

“State your intentions Sir, friend or foe?”

The voice that emanated from that hood was steady, with a soft lilting accent to it that indicated knowledge in the Elven languages, and most distinctly feminine.

Keeping my hands on my sword hilt I responded with the same weary tone, “I am neither, merely a travelling bard of these lands. I would very much like the warmth of a good fire this night. I have my own rations and will not strain your hospitality, should you give it.”

The woman nodded her head and set the strange sword down, “A bard huh? You may sit, and spare your rations, there is rabbit enough here for two.”

Letting go of my sword, I sat myself down on a cold soft patch of dirt near the fire and pulled out my notebook, “Perhaps you would like to tell me your story? That sword you carry is passing strange, surely there is a story behind it?”

The woman pulled back her hood, revealing a cascade of light blonde hair braided down to her shoulders in the back and two smaller braids framing her face. Her eyes were a dark blue without iris that caught the flickering glow of the fire. A long jagged scar ran up her left cheek, connecting to a bundle of scar tissue at the temple of her eye. The scar stretched as she smiled at me, it was slightly unsettling to see such an otherwise beautiful woman with such a deformity, but it did not detract from her appearance too greatly. Her shoulders and arms were well corded with muscle and she had the build of a woman martially trained.

“You want to hear a story huh? One about my sword?” and she laughed as she picked up the sword again, holding it in her lap, “I guess I can tell a story. Cayosin di isk bilaes, Mitne Suaco; that is the inscription I found on this sword when my father gave me his last Will and Testament. Along with his journal, telling the story of his younger years. About finding a place rumored to be wondrous and filled with treasure. But make no mistake, it was not a place of peace and love, he said it’s an endless maze of twisting corridors and damp caves, that it was dangerous. That only a fool would search for something of value there. There is a legend that my father wrote down in his journal. A legend of great power in the caves of the dungeon.”

Here the woman paused for a moment as she picked turned the rabbits on the spit.

“The journal explained much to me. My father would always go on about it, even in his sleep. Amazing magical artifacts, infinite wealth, fame, power, and women. So you can understand why some little child who hears the stories would grow up wishing to see this place. Well, I have been travelling towards there these past few months. And I am nearly there. I can feel the place calling to me. This sword wishes to return to its home, and I will take it there and learn why it exists and if the legend is true.”

I found myself enthralled by this woman’s tale, so much so that I had forgotten to write it down as I was hearing it.

“That is quite the tale Miss. I do hope it ends well for you. Are the rabbits done? Listening to your story has worked up quite an appetite for me.”

The woman laughed again as she pulled the rabbits off the spit, handing me one of the cooked meats to begin eating, “Yes they are done. Perhaps you would join me in heading down there? I am sure there are many tales that would interest a man such as you.”

Shaking my head, I responded, “I am afraid not, my road takes me on other paths. The dark caverns of the world are not for me to record. But I would dearly love to hear of your adventures in this Cave of Legends if we should ever meet again.”

After a short time eating and conversing on other matters the woman stood up and moved towards her tent, weariness was writ large on her features as she turned with one last look at me.

“If you should be gone before I wake up tomorrow, then I bid you well wishes and a long life.”

As it turned out, she woke before I, and was gone long before morning light rose.

Kingmaker Sheet

I've got something to help us with the kingdom stuff. Take a look at this:

Kingmaker Sheet

The URL is safe, it leads to a kingdom sheet for anyone to edit. I've started putting information into the document but since we haven't decided roles yet its very incomplete. The document does include calculations for all the important stuff on the sheet so we just need to import the numbers.

As for my role... well, as I see it, Katya is very clearly going down the road of Magister.
