Kenta points out the lichen on the wall, ”This way is north. Moss always grows on the north sides of trees. I am pretty sure the same applies underground.”

Kenta pulls out a small pearl and focuses on it. It glows, then fades.

”I am good to continue.”

Kenta releases a bark of laughter as he wipes off his sword, ”I get it! Assaulted has the word Salt in it. Nice one Mom-Onna.”

Kenta whispers shouts a prayer, strides in and gives this big evil critter a piece of his mind. In the form of a large sword.

”Foul beast, you will not harm my friends or any slaves again!”

With the guards calmed and assured that the foxes (even the disguised ones) are totally supposed to be there doing the things they are doing, Kenta leads the way down the dangerous scary probably trapped terrifying tunnel. He pulls his blade out, letting the glow from it illuminate their surroundings.

He thinks nothing is amiss or odd or anything is wrong at all. And also he says, "This isn't scary at all. Actually, I haven't been scared in a really long time, which seems odd. Oh well! Hey look a tiny little tunnel we will have to probably crawl through. Seems fine."

Kenta frowns, "Worrying about things we cannot control will gain us nothing. Try the illusion and bluff. No one need be hurt if you can succeed. Mom-Ragi, can you take the disguise of one of Fat Aghurr's guards to help the bluff AND provide backup? If this does not work the pup will sneak in and knock them out. He is quite skilled. I will stay here as backup."

The young fox and Chance stay hidden around a corner a bit back from the slave pits. Close enough to get there (in a round or two of riding) but not close enough to be seen.

Kenta replies quietly in the usual language of foxes, "A slave here said we should check out the dried up pool. Said a lot of people move in and out of it. Probably a tunnel. I think we should come back at night when there are fewer guards."

Kenta (having stumbled upon the plot?) leaves further investigating to his better equipped allies. He simply whispers a promise to come back and save them all!

He is sure that promise won't backfire at all.

Kenta whispers again to the slave, ”Would there be fewer guards at night?”

Kenta leans in, all pretenses of subtlety disappearing when looking at the sadness before him. He whispers, "We are here to help bring this thing to the ground and legitimately free you all. Is there another location they keep others? Or are they doing illegal things that we can use to help us free everyone?"

Kenta wanders over.

The young fox starts looking over the slaves here and thinking through his options.

I'm going to have to see if Phidoe or someone else wants to go in with me. That's more than I have.

A thought occurs to him and he leans over the railing to ask, "Do other slavers bring more in on the auction day? I only see a few here, not two or three dozen."

Anyone actually gonna try to sneak around here or are we just scoping it out and waiting for the plot to drag us into something?

Kenta nods, burying his revulsion, "I am also new to the slave buying business, but what is the general range of cost per slave at this market?"

After the question, Kenta moves over and looks at all of the cages and captives. He makes sure none appear ready to collapse from lack of care and asks each if they have been fed and given water.

Moved our PC's based upon our chatter, gonna wait for Onna to take the lead here.

Kenta nods, "Yes you are correct. They are quite safe while I am here. Let us go uhm... talk to those people over there and figure out who they are."

He is off in a flash, striding forward confidently.

The idiot young fox approaches the NPCs nice uncaged people, "Hello. Fine day for this kind of thing. How are you all?"

Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Kenta glances across the way and sees other people and slaves. His hackles raise at the simple thought of what is going on here. He takes another calming breath and turns to Onna, "Onna er... merchant dude. Tell me that these slaves will not be harmed."

There is a bit of an edge to his voice as he seeks reassurance.

Kenta nods his head side to side, "No ma'am. There is no need to pay me. I have sworn a debt to protect my friends. I will continue to act as your guard." He moves up and leads the way up the stairs.

”Yes Brother, I will pray with you.”

He will take the blessing. We going with Kenta’s or Onna’s plan?”

Kenta has a thought. Honestly, he's thought through this before and talked it out with his faction. But it fits the situation and seems wise.

"Okay, so listen. I am not a smart fox. But I do know a bit about these things. I know we can not just 'take' the slaves to freedom, at least without some strong evidence in our favor. So for missions like these, I always set aside money in case I can somehow buy the freedom of a slave or two. So I go in there as a genuine buyer and maybe take the attention off you all. The only thing I do not know is how distracting I can be. I do not think I can lie well. But I know you all can be really sneaky."

Kenta nods, happy the pup isn't talking about murder anymore, "If we have to commit a minor crime of knocking someone out to save a bunch of illegally imprisoned people, that is a thing we can do. Besides, it isn't a like a minor head injury ever had any sort of long term health effect on anyone."

He continues, "But hopefully, our sneaky teammates can help us with this mission without anyone getting hurt and we can get a bunch of bad people arrested too. So how are we going to sneak in? I am not inconspicuous."

Kenta frowns, "Now partner, I know how you feel. I feel the same way. But remember what we have been learning about revenge? It doesn't lead to a calm spirit, just more and more anger."

He rubs a claw against the sharp tip of his blade, "This is why I put the enchantment on my weapon. Justice does not require murder."

Kenta’s hackles rise as he learns their mission. At the end he stands quickly, hand itching to reach for his sword, ”We shall go quickly and smi…”

Onna begins talking calmly.

The young fox takes a deep breath and unclenches his fists, before sitting again.

”We shall sit for a moment and learn more.”

He absentmindedly munches a cookie or something while listening very intently to mom.

At the end he adds a simple thought, ”Slavery may be legal, but the method of obtaining a slave is often not.”

As things eventually wind down, Kenta exits stage left... or right... or. Well, he leaves the stage.

And goes and gets a stagecoach, pulled by one gorgeous mare and also another regular boring horse. He offers free local rides to hotels, homes, hostels or even campsites.

But most importantly, he keeps a close eye on the brides, ready to take them to their honeymoon suite.

Kenta glances down and shrugs, "He was... right here. Ah well, I trust him well enough to stay out of trouble. Probably investigating something even now!"

Ah, I recognize those things. Perhaps this place isn't as strange as I thought.

"The same for me, thank you."

Ooh, Furious on your weapon. An excellent choice! Kenta, to probably no one's surprise, went with Merciful for his first upgrade.

Kenta gives the skulk big hugs when they all arrive at the coffee house, "It is so great to see everyone again. The wedding was wonderful but that boat ride was horrid. No sea monsters, pirates, or even harpies! I hope this mission allows us to smite some devils, my sword is getting itchy."

He ties up Chance outside and then heads in, where he sits and waits for someone else to order.

I have no idea what to order! Everything smells so spicy and not like the spices I know. Better just play it safe and wait.

The full plate armor he was wearing at the wedding is not present. Instead he has his normal breastplate on with his usual complement of many weapons.

Kenta, astride his resplendent horse Chance, dismounts and casually accepts the letter. He opens the one handed to Phidöe as well, careful not to glance at its contents before setting it down for the pup to read.

"Thank you kind sir, here is a coin for your efforts! If you ever need a couple detectives for anything, my friend and I are opening up an agency. We just got back from city hall with our licenses."

He skims the content, then takes a bit of time to read it through. Nodding at his partner he states, "Well Phidöe, I do not want to assume your letter was the same as mine, but it seems the society need us again. I guess we will have to delay the grand opening, but this missive seems urgent. We should book passage quickly!"

He grins down at the quick canine, "Shall we race to the docks?"

Itami claps and smiles as the guests erupt in cheers, rice flying everywhere. The beginning of a beautiful journey together.

Ikari showers the brides with grains of blessed rice.

OH NO ACK I SHOULD HAVE POSTED SOONER!!!

Kenta's smile stretches across his maw as the scene unfolds. Such a beautiful display of love, even with the horrors they have witnessed, definitely proves there is still good in the world.

He begins handing out an unusual wedding favor. Instead of rice, or rose petals, or those damned bubbles the gnomes are always touting, he hands each guest present a small glass vase with several long green stalks poking out. A small card instructs the holder the following.

Thank you for coming to this special event! In lieu of the many things that can be thrown at a wedding, please do NOT throw these plants. They are rice seedlings. In the theme of growth and harvest, these are for you to take home, plant, nurture, watch grow, and harvest when ready. As your plants grow, know too, that the love of Sionnach and Hiiragi grows as well. With your harvested rice, make a loving meal for family and friends. Or even distil it into wine to enjoy in the company of others.

Hustling up late, clanking a fair bit, is a young fox in very shiny full plate mail. His reddish brown fur in sharp contrast to the white of his mouth and neck. A burning river of flame trails across the front of his breastplate, if you squint it almost looks like a fox sticking its tongue out at you.

His voice booms out, quieting all the whispered questions, "Kenta the Usher is here! Please, line up in the lobby and I will escort everyone to their seats."

Most probably ignore him, but if anyone doesn't, he offers a strong paw and directions.

"Yes, it is quite beautiful. Left side or right? No, it does not particularly matter. We are all family here."

"Oh I believe that scent is sandalwood*. Borrowed from a Mwangi tribe we saved about a year ago. It is quite a story, though I tell it terribly."

*It is NOT sandalwood. Probably Lavender.

"My you have a very strong grip. Oh no, it doesn't *HURK* hurt. Yes. I. Am. Fine."

He returns to the main aisle and rubs his sore arm a bit before sitting, then standing, then being not sure what to do.

Kenta nods, "Yes, this all makes total sense. Though we do not really need gold as a reward, simply helping this small village is sufficient."

He quickly continues, "But I have been told that there are expenses in this business, so we will accept it to help offset those. Thank you very much. Horse feed is expensive these days, inflation and all."

The elbows Hiiragi and leans in, "Were you not looking for a place for a wedding? This town has some nice places. Perhaps we could renovate that flooded cave? It had a nice ambiance."

I'm good with that, paranoia is not a bad trait for a pathfinder. We could very easily find that the Scooby-Doo villain was the mayor after all. But Kenta will use five of his own wand charges, so don't mark those off on yours Onna.

Kenta does relent to his own thoughts on modesty and tosses a blanket over Feet's body before guiding Chance back to the manor.

Kenta gets to work, stripping the bad guy completely then tying him up, adding a gag. It seems odd to capture someone nude, but Onna is the boss and they don’t do this that much.

He gently removes feet from the pup and tosses him over Chance’s saddle, ”Where to?”

Kenta smiles as the fiend falls, his first solo big bad kill. Probably. Hopefully everyone up top is still alive. Then he hears voices and breathes a sigh of relief.

”I can get out down here, meet you all on the outside. The building won’t hold long.”

Let me know if we should roll multiple rounds of saves and track movements, or go round by round, or just head out, or wait for something else.

...bares his teeth he cackles, "HAHA I SHALL LIVE TO SEE YOU DIE, EVIL STINKY FIEND!!!"

He hacks and slashes and bites and pauses, panting a bit, hoping it is enough.

Flesh burned, body beaten, bones broken and spitting up blood, the pious fox is barely standing. But the fire in his eyes says enough about who will win this day.

Kenta staggers back from the two blows, but gives as good as he gets. He is about to bleed out when a gorgeous glowing paw reaches down from the heavens and smacks him in the face. A sarcastic voice echoes into the room, "Get your furry ass back in the fight. I don't grant boons to weak kits!"

But maybe that was just in Kenta's head. Either way, his wounds heal a bit and his stomach settles again...

Hero's Defiance Cast as an immediate action when dropped to 0 HP. Heals for 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) = 12 and Mercy removes sickened for now.

Ground Floor Fort DC 15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

Kenta's wounds close up again in a flash and his vomit resettles back into his stomach, "My lady, who grants me my powers, does not approve of your tactics! Grossness and Destruction of Public Property are big no-no's! YOUR EVIL WAYS WILL END HERE! ACTUAAAAALLLL SMIIIIITTTTEEEE!!!!"

The very dangerous to evil things fox steps in, swings hard and follows it with an ankle nip.

LoH removes sickened and heals for: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10, Smite Evil, 5-ft (assuming out of range of Phidoe since he is on top), Full Attack, AC/CMD updated in Header from Smite vs. Black.

Apparently Kenta remembered one thing from his Municipal Disaster Preparation course he took last semester. Absalom Community College is going great!

He drops his big sword, trusting Onna completely. Drawing the found blade, he jumps off the edge and tries to follow the sounds of evil*!

*Or at least building destruction. Or more likely, just go where Phidöe says to go.

If he can reach where the pup says the thing is in a single move, he will swing his sword. But if there is difficult terrain or other things slowing him, that seems unlikely. Path shown on Slide 11. Starting point left on slide 10.

My vote is for Chance! But honestly it would be almost 100% Onna or Hiragi on the scrolls and dust, so you two figure out who has what. The potions are probably best split up among the rest of us (1-2 per).

Aw Crapples! I knew I meant to buy something. No faerie fire and no glitterdust options from Onna.

I am 100% positive we were well stocked to attempt to manage the known invisibility condition.

Kenta grins, ”I found the invisible thingy that I think we are supposed to actually kill!” He looks down at the wicked bruise on his thigh, ”Well, it found me.” He points out where the attack came from.
