And, just for anyone who may not know where to look (people coming back to the game, etc), the effects of races/species that previously required boons becoming always available (I have a 13th level Barathu and a 7th? level Morlamaw, and access to at least two others listed there), can be found here. Specifically, the second item under _Achievement Points and Boons_.

They used to scale, but it was removed and some options were taken out. Probably because an automatically heightened scroll of your choice is pretty much better than any other comparable consumable that the other lists offer.

My Monk/Wizard is sad for nothing having an extra fireball, but I don't see heightening coming back - who would pick a healing potion if you could just hand the party caster a scroll of soothe or Heal?

Maybe make a qualifier requiring it to be lower level. At 5-6, take any previous scroll heightened to 2nd level. At 7-8, take any previous scroll heightened to 3rd level. And so on and so forth.

Other than that, +1 on Dispel at every level.

Er, you guys are aware that the date on this blog post is listing as 2022, right?

Do I feel kinda sorry for WotC? I guess I do, yeah. I was there for many years. I played Living Greyhawk with Jason Buhlman in the Highfolk region. I've played games with Ed Greenwood - a classic-style in which I was killed a couple of hours in, and the man kept the character around as a ghost just so I could play. I still have the d20 that Frank Mentzer gave at his tables the one time I played with him at GenCon (though, as you might expect, I can't really read the numbers without picking up the die or bending down to look and the edges have kind of dulled, which means it rolls... and rolls... and rolls.... and rolls...).

Do I feel sorry for Hasbro, who I'm thinking are the source of this?

Not. At. All.

Buh-bye, D&D. I'll stick here with Paizo, a company that seems much more interested in serving their audience.

Following up on what Michael and Sebastian said, before PaizoCon was online, I never had a chance to attend at all. I'd have to cross half the country, which means flying (I can, at least, drive to GenCon), pay for a hotel, pack food (diabetic kosher food can be hard to find in a place you don't know), and probably pay for travel between the hotel and where the convention is. Altogether, it makes for an expensive trip. While I enjoy being part of premieres, I'm not that inclined to spend that much on it.

That aside, playing online has given me a chance to play with people across the world. I've even developed something of a fascination with other accents.

COVID is something of an afterthought at this point, but it's still a thought. I hate wearing facemasks; I never feel like I'm getting enough oxygen (though I know this is untrue). I probably won't attend a face-to-face convention until I don't have to wear one. I don't know if that'll be next year or next decade.

Third warning: they give 0.25xp. If you don't want to deal with fractional XP on your character pretty much forever, do four at once. :)

When I saw this, the first thing I thought was to point out Discord-based resources like Org Play Online (which can be found at http://pfschat.com/). Or point out the previous online guest blogs? (Part 1 and Part 2)

It's been more than a year since my last post, so this is just a bump to get it back in circulation.

I always find 'Consultant' a good catch-all. Consulting on art? Art Consultant. Genre consultant. Worldbuilding consultant.

See, it always works. :)

So, how will these interact with Starfinder Society, some people would like to know. :)

It really depends on the situation, I think. Sure, it's okay to presume finishing up a chronicle within an hour (and that's the standard most apply online these days), but there can be reasons. Some as simple as "it's 3am my time, I need sleep before I can fill these out." Some as complicated as one this past weekend: "My router went kablooey, it's gonna take me a bit of time to replace it." (In this time of lockdown, not everyone has backup Internet connections.)

Generally speaking, I've found GMs are fairly open to this issue. If you don't have the chronicle, you don't fill out the relevant information... but you also don't have any other rewards either, including access to magic items ahead of time.

Belarias wrote:
Thank you, I have follow-ups what if some of the main perpetrators for this are the Venture-Officers in an area?

You escalate. If the people who haven't filled out your chronicles after a certain amount of time -- and you should consider that time on the longer side than the shorter -- are venture agents, go to the venture lieutenant. If it's that person that's the issue, you move on to the venture captain of the area. If THAT doesn't work, you go to your RVC. And if that doesn't work, you go to the top and start talking to people like Tonya. But I highly doubt it will get that far. (If it does, you can likely just expect it's not going to get done.)

Thomas Keller wrote:
I know that a few times I've waited over a week to receive chronicles.

I usually don't start getting antsy if it's a character I'll be playing unless it's been a week or so since the game and I haven't heard anything from the GM. I have (am currently) waited on chronicles for over a month, but those are generally for characters in inactive campaigns (PFS1, in short) and I have other characters I can play in the meantime.

Send your unreported sessions to pfsreportingerrors@paizo.com and we'll look into it.

Not to be impolite (and I'm quite aware that when someone says that, that's exactly what they're going to be), but bulls***.

See, I've reported errors on my PFS entries for years and they've never been fixed. I've never gotten any responses either. Just now, I checked one of my characters -- #2, to be specific -- and it STILL has misreported factions, non-reported scenarios, and it even has a game I GM'd for Starfinder Society reported on it. I have reported all of these before, and they are still there.

But I will scan in my sheet and send it in. I just don't expect anything to be done about it.

Characters with any Legacy-race boons prior to the publishing of the Guide can retroactively apply the ability score bonus to a character created prior to this guide update's publishing. The boon no longer occupied a Personal boon slot on your character sheet.

Thanks for the update, Thurston. But, for further clarification's sake:

1) How does this apply to people who have played a relevant scenario but not created a character for it yet?

2) How does this apply to people who have played AND GM'd a relevant scenario but not created a character for it yet?

3) Are the boons for relevant scenarios going to change with the new ruling? (This is why I bolded what I did up there.)

4) As Arc Riley mentioned above, how does this work with the RSP GM Incentive #1 classic race boon?

5) And for the charity boon James Krolak mentioned above, and those like it, which don't have the additional +2, how is that affected, if at all?

(Just trying to put all the questions in one place. And probably failing, but hey, at least I'm trying.)

@James Don't forget that the Legacy Race boon gives a +2 to one of your stats that is under 16, and that boon is the only way you can have that on an Elf, Half-elf, or Gnome.

That is actually something I was going to ask: how does this change reflect changes to those boons that grant access. Furthermore, is there a difference if you've both played and DM'd a given scenario that grants this access.

I don't really have much to say here. It seems fine to me, though I'm more in favor of Doodpants' 'standard' over 'basic'. Though I'd probably phrase it as "Reflex standard saving throw" or the equivalent.

You might simply include a page reference to the glossary definition as well. So, something like "Reflex standard saving throw (nnnn)".

Brunk, the Lord Andabold, Viscount of Drake's Welkin
(title from the Noble Title vanity and completed Rising Star)
Choice : Senator (currently electioneering)
Alignment : Neutral
Race : Half-orc
Class : (Aberrant) Bloodrager 5 / (Imperial Sky) Dragon Disciple 4
Lion Blade : No

Brunk is an atypical senatorial candidate. While he dresses well for it, there's no mistaking that he's a warrior, bred and true. Towering over most, if not all, of those of his breeding, he makes no bones about who and what he is. Don't make him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

An adoptive member (like pretty much every *other* member) of the obscure House Andabold of Absalom, many of his influences seem almost random. His primary weapon - and there's really no hiding any of them considering their size - is a nodachi straight out of Tian-Min, while the greataxe is a sop to his orcish heritage. The designs on his mithral breastplate are of Sargavan origin, and he can easily be convinced to tell stories of when he used to work in that place. Old scars in the form of elaborate tattoos probably preclude the hardening of his features, now more scale than skin.

Oh, and don't mind her. Lisabet, that is. Where a dragon-skinned half-orc came up with an Ulfen warrioress as a personal guard is anyone's guess. Noone's ever heard her speak anyway.

TL;DR Can a Skinwalker Druid use Wild Shape and Change Shape at the same time in Pathfinder Society?

----

Despite its name, the Skinwalker's Change Shape ability is not the same thing as the standard monster ability. Instead of being a full-body polymorph, it merely adds some animalistic features. Actually, let me just quote:

A skinwalker can change shape to and from a bestial form as a standard action. In bestial form, a skinwalker gains a +2 racial bonus to either Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. While in this form, a skinwalker also takes on an animalistic feature that provides a special effect.

<snip out standard Skinwalker versions of this, because there are a bunch of other options>

These benefits last until the skinwalker returns to her humanoid form as a swift action. A skinwalker must first return to her humanoid form before changing to bestial form again to change benefits. Different skinwalker heritages allow skinwalker characters to select from different sets of bestial features.

----

The Druid's Wild Shape works like Beast Shape, Elemental Body, and Plant Shape, all of which have the polymorph subtype. The definition of this subtype states "You can only be affected by one polymorph spell at a time. If a new polymorph spell is cast on you (or you activate a polymorph effect, such as wild shape), you can decide whether or not to allow it to affect you, taking the place of the old spell." Which means that if the Skinwalker's Change Shape is a polymorph effect (which it doesn't say one way or the other), both would not stack.

So, any ideas? The PFS FAQ does not appear to say anything about skinwalkers or polymorphing. Additional resources does have references to both, but nothing about this particular items.

Yes, exactly that.

The current version lists the following factions: Dark Archive, Liberty's Edge, Scarab Sages, Sovereign Court, The Exchange, The Grand Lodge, The Silver Crusade. That seems to match the current version, so I'm not particularly worried about that.

I was more thinking about things specifically relevant to character creation. Class/Race clarifications or availability - for example, I think Aasimar were once allowed but no longer are, and I don't know if that's a change from 6.0 to 7.0 or if it's from an earlier version. (I have a copy of the 5.0 one, which includes Aasimar, but not 6.0, so I don't know.)

Is there a list of temples to Calistria and where they are anywhere around? I'm working on a character history and want to weave it into the storyline.
