Hi there! Character concept!: Question the First: What does your character look like? What do they wear? Kara is an -adorable- little half-elf. She wears mostly red, and favors dresses with good girdle-support. She abhors loose or flimsy garments, because such things tend to get caught in fire. And this is important. 2) What is your character's biggest fear?
3) - What is their favorite food?
4) - Can you or your character cook? How good are you/they?
5) - What do you expect from me as the DM? Answer my questions. Don't ignore or disrespect my posts. If you have a problem with me or my posting idiom, say so. Don't reflexively say no. Try and find a way to say yes and I'll work with you. Don't wait on slow posters. Rule of Two, and Two day Rule. Don't have the whole party wait on one guy who needs to make one lousy role and already said he'd be away that day. I'd rather be botted out of care for the party then to realize that everyone was waiting on me (especially if it doesn't take my witty humor or exceptional role-playing and just needs some dice--anyone else is just as likely to roll as bad as I do =). 6) - What kinds of humor do you like? All. If you're trying, I'm laughing. I don't like stupid prop humor (you know Carrottop is now some mid-level gym rat? Go figure!) but that's not a worry in PbP so it's not a factor. Betimes it can be funny to note that someone rolled a 1, but as long as its done out of love, everyone wins. There's a difference. Dark humor is fair game. I'm Irish. =) Personality? Kara is a Chaotic-Neutral Sorcererer...ess. Of Fire! She's currently with the party because she finds them funny. But she finds most things funny. And even if its not funny she tends to enjoy herself so don't worry about it. She finds that most problems can be solved with fire, and, if it can't, you're not using enough fire. Her lack of taking things seriously can get her in trouble, but she's good at getting out of it again. And it moves the plot along, and that's important too. Background? Kara grew up in HardWheat, a non-descript farming community. It was nice for awhile as it had lots of cute boys who didn't mind playing rough. Unfortunately it also had lots of things that burn quite well. When her powers started spontaneously manifesting, things got out of hand. No one got hurt, but a barn full of fresh hay was lost, and her mom gave her a good pack, some warm shoes, and a friendly pat out the door. One time she was wandering through this salty marsh. She met this friendly girl named Allysen. She was married to some guy named Liam. They seemed happy. She can't say she's sorry for getting kicked out of her home town. There's a whole big world out there...and if she sets the -right- things on fire, fewer people yell at her. They even pay sometimes.
Ah! Excellent! Well with a cleric incoming it looks like there's for someone who can deal damage at range. I have just the thing! Kara's a fun girl who likes setting things on fire, pina colades, setting things on fire, gettin' caught in the rain, and settings things on fire. In that order. When she's not setting things on fire (oh, she likes that, did I mention that?) she likes to keep up party moral with a constant optimistic conversation about the happy things in life. First, with, the dices: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 1) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 2) = 17 15 +2
Well that sucks the buttocks. Let's try that again. 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 5) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 6) = 17 16
That's better. Roll for lvl 2 hit points!: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Hollah! Now. Shall we begin? =)
Hi there! Character entry from Atlas2112! =D The Strange: General Build: Kara the Silvertongue, Fire Sorcererer...ess, of Fire.
Personality:
-Outlook: Optimistic!!1! -Integrity: Unscrupulous, of fire. -Boldness: Cautious. Hahahaha, just seeing if I could say that with a straight face. Intrepid, the only way to fly. And set things on fire. -Conformity: Heterodox. -Religious Adherence: Agnostic, but whatever right? -Favourite Topics of Conversation: Me. -Quirks, Habits, and Oddities: Wacky quirk of getting into trouble and expecting others to get her out of it. -Hobbies and Enjoyments: Either setting things on fire, or yelling at the weird people who don't want her to set stuff on fire. Background:
-Where and with whom did you learn your trade?
-What is the most important event that shaped your personal path?
-What did you do during the Last War?
-What is your wildest dream or goal?
Ally: Diana d’Orien: female human Orien courier. Couriers are the most uptight by day...and they know the BEST parties by night. We are wing-sisters, and when one's tongue gets us in trouble, often the other can get us out. Contact: Drevan ir’Roole: male human noble, former Brelish cavalry captain. He wants me, I can't stand him. But he has fine wine and the BEST stories. Rival: Jim d’Jorasco: male halfling healer. Ugh! He's always "Don't burn them, Kara," and "I can't heal them if you burn them too much, Kara," and "Help me put out this fire -again- Kara." It's like he can't think of anything _interesting_ to say!

"Hmmm. You know who else would want us to save them? Evil zombies that wanted to EAT OUR BRAINS! Unfortunately I can't deal with the epic amount of butthurt that would come with just being safe and making sure that you can't eat our brains. I'm sure that one of these ninies will want to give you the chance to eat -their- brains while they try to unlock your chains. THEN when I light you on fire and save their life I'll be their life-long hero and they'll have to do everything I say until the day they die. So it's a win-win here. Alright, I know you want to, so one of you guys can go try and rescue what totally-does-not-look-like-an-obvious-trap. But remember if you're wrong you have to be my lifelong servant. So, your call." Eldritch flame dances along Kara's fingers as she gets ready to rescue whoever the sucker is that falls for these zombies.

"It's what happens when a modern zmobie tries to cast a fireball using something from the Tavern Cellar instead of something from Guano Junction," Kara says, as if everyone grew up knowing that bat guano is a spell component for the fireball spell. "Oh, look guys, damsels in distress!" Kara says, hurrying over. "Hey! People who need rescuing! Are you zombies? I'm just asking because if you are it would -totally- save us some trouble to kill you know instead of letting you loose and then having you bite us and -then- having to kill you. With fire. So, if you're evil, if you could let us know now that'd really help, kthankx."

To a select few games: I propose that we start using these charts instead of the normal fumble and critical rules. After rolling either a 1 or 20, fumble or crit, you roll percentile dice (d100) on the appropriate chart to see what happened. They're from MERP, so there are modifiers at the bottom. And spell charts for the appropriate damage, or just "spell criticals" for generic damage. What do you think?

Wait, are we in B3 or B8? I thought we were in B3, but all our characters are in B8. And the arrows seem off, too. Ah, well, not that that ever stopped Kara.... "Ah well, this isn't much use unless I ever need to case a fiberball." For some reason that seems to refer to a massively arcane spelling joke and the difference between rat guano and bat guano. If no one holds her back, Kara is drawn like a loadstone to the northern most door, just because she likes walking uphill.

"Ooooo! Treasure!" For reasons known only to her, Kara starts digging through the mounds of straw, tossing the rotten stuff high into the air as she searches, convinced that such flotsam can only conceal something worth concealing. Perception!: 1d20 ⇒ 17 "Little help here?" she calls out, not bothering to look up from her work.

Kara gets all the way up to the King in the South falling for the beautiful-but-idealistic DeathSister, but as she's planning out the cruel-but-inevitable betrayal at the wedding to follow, she just gets tired. "Alright, well, enough of the not doing things. Imma make sure our rear is guarded. Because I like guarded rears. I'll check out the side cave," she says, heading East. Toward B2.

"Oh no, if you wanna take a nap, that's fine. It'll give me time to finally do something I've always wanted to. check it, this is gonna be big!" If the group does take a short rest, Kara arranges all the kobold corpse around in a group. She takes turns hefting one up and putting on a small play.
Whether the party wants to endure this for a full hour is entirely on them.

Since no one speaks up to stop her, Kara goes around setting the sleeping ones on fire, one-by-one. When she's down she looks up. "Alright, we don't have to worry about that anymore. No need to thank me, citizens! Well let's be about it. That kobold village isn't gonna burn itself down." Kara first explores the die tunnel the second group of kobolds came down, seeing if they were guarding a lot of treasure. After a few minutes of exploring, if she hasn't found anything worthwhile, she'll give up and keep going in the direction they were going.

sry. thought I posted. Kara whistles a merry tune as she loots the corpses. "Well? What are doing with the sleeping ones? I'm about to fry them but I can't deal with all the butt-hurt that would follow so if you wanna try talking to them go on."

"Oh! Goodbye, cruel world!" Kara cries as the arrow pierces her. "I go to a better place now! A place where sharp, painful arrows do not pierce soft, supple flesh! Oh. Oh, it looks like it's not really that bad. Well alright, death for all of you." She tosses a white, puffy ball into the middle of the group of kobolds coming down her tunnel. Sleep!: 5d8 ⇒ (3, 7, 7, 2, 8) = 27

Kara waves to her servants to get a move on. "Hurry, now, Attero, we'll have no layabouts here! Fetch my chair, Rick, and a pitcher of cold water! Then build a fire. 'Twill be cold tonight and wold not do for one of -my- upbringing to catch cold." Then she looks around and realizes she doesn't have any servants. "What? Hack got to think he was a Ranger...." She goes about cleaning up the rats. And by "cleaning up" she means burning them. But she's nice, so she only burns the dead ones. The live ones she burns twice. Then she looks for treasure, honestly believing in her heart of hearts that at least one rat should have 23 copper pieces and a broadsword.

"No! Googlybear!" Kara screams, her voice reverberating off the close confines of the cave. She DARTS under the legs of the tall humans, scrurrying in to get a good sight on a target. "Schlaffen!" she yells, tossing a puffy pink puffball at the rat just above the fallen monk. Soon those closest to the north-most rat are assaulted by waves of unresistable sleep. Kara grabs a branch and hits it with FLAMING FIRE so at least she can see. She also randomly sends bolts of fire at the cave wall to help the others. It's good to help. Perception!: 1d20 ⇒ 5 "Man, you know what's great? Fire."

"I am NOT mouthing off, I'm just clarifying!" Kara yells at the sky for some reason. "Oh hellz to the YEAH there, Rurik," Kara chirps gleefully as the kobold drops to the ground, the flames feeding off it's skin and filling the air with the rich, ripe sent of lizard-on-a-stick. "Hold a tick," she says as she gets out some marshmallows and starts roasting them over the burning kobold. "What? He's already dead and I didn't even kill him. Oh, you probably want to investigate the cave and light more 'boldies on fire, well alright." She puts reluctantly puts her marshmallows away and gets ready to follow the group, her step having returned some of its lightness.

Kartoss: I have read your spoiler above and I have indeed chuckled. =) Oh! Cruel irony that I'm going against my normal "KILL THEM UNTIL THEY DIE FROM IT" motiff into a truly chaotic stereotypical female. *teehee* I'm sure you can take care of four kobolds without me, and hopefully I'll become the living embodiment of fire and all things that die horribly in fire later. =-)

"Wait, so we can't attack them until they've all harmed us? Or we have to wait until each of them have harmed us? Or do we have to keep track? Now, it seems easier, at least to me, that we kill them all, like, right away. But you all put the ka-bosh on that, so we're gonna need some rules here. Um, I -think- that one did some harm? Or was it that one? Or...or the other one. Are you sure the one you just burned is that one that did the harm? Or do we just have to prove intent first? Your rules are very complicated."

Kara, still smarting from her double smack-down, feels no fire burn within her. "Wait, wait. We haven't even tried to talk to them," Kara calls out form the back of the group. "How do we know they're even shooting at us? I mean maybe they're just misunderstood? Maybe we're intruding on their sacred lands? I'm, how did you put it, truly shocked that you're trying to kill these people. I mean, those guys are huggable too.

The small halfling incinerates a particularly large beetle sitting on a big tree, then pauses, looking at her fingers as flame dances on them. The normally vicarious girl stays quiet in thought, then says, "You're wrong. Anything that wants to notice us can hear us or smell us coming from half a mile away. You, *sniff* still smell like the onions you had with breakfast. A big'un might not come after us now since it has a ready-made buffet for it. But I'll do it. I'll trade every fluffy bunny and hugable furry thing from here to the kobold village, if---," she looks up at Davin, her big adorable eyes set in a dead serious face. "---if you promise to kill every last one of the kobolds. Big and small, cute and ugly, you honestly persecute every single reptile like it killed your mom. A neutral trade, lives for lives. Kara literally flips a coin, and it lands on "Go to bed early to keep them guessing." She greets the dawn and performs a kata designed to heighten and focus her powers of FIRE! After all, she's gonna hear a lot of screaming today. From things she set on fire. You need to prepare for these things. She literally bounces into the common room as Davin sits down. "Hi there! We should go overland. So we can start them on fire from the greatest range. Also, we should surround the village, but leave a small escape route. When they retreat to safety, we can close the trap! Vae Victus!"

Kara just asks for a single healing potion, and pays for it quietly. While the old lady prattles on about spirits, Kara wanders the shop, idly gazing at the superstitious do-dads that lay about. Though she tries to suppress the urge, she can't in good conscience leave without something sticking to her hands. Sleight of Hand!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 She honestly doesn't care what it is, just so long as she can tell her contact that she's not gone legit. That would just be awkward.
