As soon as Rosina is in position, Johnne presses his fingers to his left temple, squeezing his eyes shut. In his mind's eye, he sees his fingers reach out to the giants, twisting their minds and impulses.

Dropping a persistent confusion in a spot where I can hit the gigas and (hopefully) one or more frost giants without hitting a party member. 15-foot burst. They need to make two DC 25 Will saves; if they fail either, they suffer the full effect of the spell, and are confused for 17 rounds.

First up, I'd like to apologize for my silence. I've been working up to moving house, and the big day was today. We don't have an internet connection yet, and probably won't for several days (though we're working on it). I have a smartphone with a data plan, but 500MB doesn't go far when I'm using it for job-searching as well. However, my mother lives 5 minutes away and I'm welcome there any time, and there's a library within walking distance, so I'll be around.

Please don't write me out of the campaign, as this is temporary. I'll be here, but sporadic. If I'm holding things up, bot me. If there's something Johnne (or Rosina) would reasonably do that would help the party out of combat, have him do it if I don't get to it first. His combat MO is to drop crowd-control debuffs while Rosina stacks on the pain and despair.

As the carpet soars easily up the stairs, Johnne closes his eyes and tries to focus on not being motion-sick, even as he sends a spell to his ethereal companion.

Casting touch of gracelessness; Rosina gets a free touch attack to deliver it. Giant needs to make a DC 20 Fort save or take 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 points of Dexterity damage (save for half).

Clinging to the edges of the magic carpet, Johnne's eyes flash as he fixes them on one of the giants, sending pain coursing through its body.

Casting inflict pain on a giant (any giant). DC 23 Will save or take a -4 penalty to attack rolls, skill checks, and ability checks for 17 rounds. A successful save reduces the duration to 1 round.

Yeah, Phantom Recall specifies acting as dimension door, but that's when I do it as a swift or immediate action. The standard action use doesn't specify whether it's a teleportation effect or not, so since it doesn't call it out, I'd rule it isn't.

"Sorry to do this, love," Johnne rasps, before closing his eyes and placing his fingertips to his temples. As he focuses, Rosina's misty form slowly fades from the casing of ice, and a faint grey mist forms around his own hands. Within seconds, the ice is empty.

He watches the geysers as Rosaline tries to free Toska, wishing there was more he could do to help.

I didn't buy a weapon. *cackles, then weeps*

She had a good life, in retrospect. Nine years of cuddles and bacon rind. Nine years of good company. She was an inside-outside dog for two years, and an outside dog for seven. She had the run of the backyard, first choice of food bowls, and was the self-appointed overlord of our other three dogs. She never wanted for belly scratches, and never expected anything in return for her affection. It's a shame she never got to move out with me and be an inside dog again, with her own spot on the couch, but... life has other plans.

Just when I was starting to really recover from my recent breakup, my beautiful spaniel Ruby-Charles died this morning. She was my first real pet, and she's left some big fuzzy boots to fill. Posting may be a bit hit-and-miss while I try to heal. Sorry to do this so soon into the game, but sometimes the d20 of life falls on a 1.

Johnne rubs at his throat, glad to be on solid ground. As he does so, Rosina flits back to his side, trailing grey smoke as she goes, caressing her lover's face and neck. "We fought well. Best not stay too long. Check their pockets and go." He gives his phantom a weak smile, trying to catch one of her hands, but it simply passes through his own, unimpeded by flesh.

Though it's hard to follow the quick movements of her ghostly hands, Rosina's fixing Johnne's cravat - presumably to cover up the glimpses of what appear to be rope burns.

Bushfires in Australia are terrifying, and too many of them are started by idiots. A stray cigarette butt, an angle grinder... Anything can set it off, and it gets out of control before you know it.

I'm taking the steps I need to make sure I'll be safe if anything happens.

So, it's coming into summer here in South Australia, and that means it's fire season. We've had several Catastrophic danger levels this month. (The scale is Low - Moderate - High - Very High - Severe - Extreme - Catastrophic, because Australia does not f*$$ around.)

Today, we had a fire start out near my place of employment, which is in a rural area. Even though the wind was blowing away from us, we evacuated the whole site just to play it safe. And because it's a primary school, that resulted in 350 terrified kids and stressed teachers being kept indoors and taking drink and toilet breaks in pairs, while every member of leadership and support staff rang the parents of every child to evacuate them. I'm home now, and all the main roads near me have been closed off. I'm safe, but shaken, and it's made me realize that there may well come a time when I'm affected by a fire and won't be able to get online and let everyone know. If that happens, I'll try to get a real-life friend with a Paizo account to spread the word.

GM, how about I include the 'cheat-notes' of the incorporeal subtype in a spoiler tag with Rosina's vitals? Would that be useful?

Yo, Choon! Just a reminder that Rosina is incorporeal. So she takes no damage from nonmagical weapons, half damage from magical weapons, and full damage from ghost touch weapons.

Please don't tell me every enemy has ghost touch weapons >.>

Johnne clings to the edges of the carpet, peering over the side at the battle below. He watches as Rosina charges through the wall of snow, easily dissipating through it, and plunges a fist into one of the giants. "Well done, love," he whispers, smiling.

How high up are we? I just remembered that if Rosina is more than 50 feet from Johnne in her incorporeal form, she's banished to the ethereal plane and stays there for 24 hours. I'd rather that doesn't happen. :P

On a similar note...:

Would you mind if I switched out a feat (likely improved initiative) for Phantom Fighter, allowing Rosina to attack in incorporeal form as if her natural weapons had the ghost touch property?

Alternatively (preferably), if it's not too late (since I just thought of this, being a total twit) I could change my gift selection from the runestones to a +1 cruel ghost touch amulet of mighty fists :P

So, Johnne has a few tricks up his sleeve. He's picked Spell Perfection for crushing despair, so that's pretty much his bread and butter. His spell selection focuses on fear and emotion effects, so if we come up against things that are immune to those, he'll basically be a sitting duck. If he's within 50 feet of Rosina, she can deliver his touch spells for him, regardless of whether she's in ectoplasmic or incorporeal form.

If Johnne gets hit by a mind-affecting effect, he can immediately call Rosina back into his consciousness and shunt it off to her, effectively negating it, but he can only do this once per day. Still a very nice thing to have. She can also take hit point damage that would drop him to negs - also good to have in a pinch. Other than this, he's mainly a caster, dropping nastiness on the enemies.

Rosina gets a few more tricks. Since she's usually in incorporeal form, she has a 40 foot fly speed and can't be heard with Perception checks unless she wishes it (which is handy, but she has a lower stealth than Alessus, so he'd be better at not being seen). All enemies within 10 feet of her take an automatic -2 penalty to saving throws thanks to her aura of despair (not a fear effect!). She gets a +2 bonus against foes suffering fear or despair effects, and can mimic crushing despair three times per day. She has Combat Reflexes to stack on the hurt in ectoplasmic form, and any creature hit by her slams takes a -2 penalty on attack and damage rolls for 1 round. She has Dazzling Display, and can increase the severity of fear effects, which is really nice.

So, both are rather supporty characters, with an aggressively depressing spellcasting selection.

Me, I dn't have any nifty tricks or anything. I just cast spells, and get my phantom to drag everyone down.

Though I'm really wishing I'd picked up the feat that allows a phantom in incorporeal form to damage corporeal enemies, because right now, I'll be doing a lot of recalling and manifesting :/

He's dressed in well-made clothing, in the style of Ustalavic nobility, though it's in ill repair.His cravat is immaculate, however, knotted neatly and firmly at his throat, covering his neck to the chin. His cloak seems to shimmer and ripple, throwing disconcerting patterns that appear uncomfortably like eyes. His black hair is streaked with grey, and his blue eyes are lined heavily with time - he carries himself with the air of a man who's tired of the world, but wants to face it with dignity.
