Sorry, I didn't make myself clear in my post before. Jeb wouldn't start trying to move the statue back until after everyone went downstairs. Since the fight ended he's been pretty consistent on being the last one inside or being the one to provide cover.

Before Jeb can turn his attention to Priss, something else catches his eye. A shimmering in the room. Maybe something akin to what the area over a campfire looks like? With the empty space distorting due to the heat. But somehow also different. He was no expert on magic, but this did not seem normal and no way it was good for them.

With the forearm of his left srm, he urged Andrek back farther down the staircase. Taking a few steps back himself so that Priscilla could hopefully close the hole, he let out, "Close it, Priss. Close it now!!" as he tried to get his bow ready just in case it didn't work and they got in a fight.

As the others move down through the staircase Jeb finally starts down. He then turns and begins to slide the statue back into place.

Jeb slowly closes the door again. Turning to the others, he softly says, "We are not going out there for a fight. There are two frog-men in robes and a humongous hell-frog that looks as if he's made out of stone. We should head down into the shrine's inner chamber for safety."

He moves closer to the stairs and aims his bow at the door, ready to fire at anything entering the shrine.

But before the impetuous one can respond, he pushes the door open a mere sliver and takes a look outside in response to the sound from the lake.

Keeping his focus on the door in case some more friends decided to stop in, Jeb says over his shoulder, "You can do it, cherub. Just take your time."

Jeb's just trying out a new name for Miss Springhill. I wonder if it will stick. Hmmm...

I want basing on you, Grimmy. I've been guilty of not progressing the story myself. Totally understand your reasons for taking things slow these last weeks. I just see how some of the other games have been able to keep a great posting rate even with you so preoccupied.

Also, thank you for your dedication to this mega campaign. It's such a huge task and I know everyone's having lots of fun.

Jeb's scowl disappears and becomes as like to a smile as he can ever manage. "Glad to see you still alive, Moonshadow."

Looking around for any sign of additional enemies he says, "We should get into the shrine and close the doors before any more of the creatures show up. We can figure out what is going on from the safety of the shine's walls, as much as that can provide anyway."

And with that he moves towards the door to the shrine and retrieves his sword from the ground. Waiting until everyone else gets inside to do the same while keeping his bow at the ready.

Honestly, anything would be cool. I've been saying we're a little lacking in dedicated arcane power with utility options myself, but really the important thing for this mega-campaign (five different games happening concurrently in the same setting with possibilities for come cross-overs) is the characterization and play style. But Grimmy should really be the one to get into the particulars.

Our party consists of five. Three human males. Two of them brothers (Ares and Andrek) who worship the Goddess Muir as a cleric and an inquisitor, both of whom excel in combat using her favored bastard sword. I am an archer who follows the Lady of the Hunt, Freya, Goddess of Love and Fertility. We have a Halfling Rogue by the name of Priscilla Spinghill, the cheerful little cherub. Last but by no means least, Lucia who is a Tiefling Wizard/Rogue who's heading towards Arcane Trickster.

"You won't be eating any more of us today, creature!" Jeb proclaims as he drops his sword and reaches for his bow.

Free action to drop, move action to pick up an item (his bow). Point Blank Shot, Deadly Aim, attacking the smaller frog. And I know I'll provoke an attack of opportunity from the small frog, but my dice are on a bad streak and I need to hit.

He pulls an arrow from over his shoulder and fires it at the smaller one still threatening Lucia. "Lucia, don't let it eat him!"

Longbow: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

"Ares, Priscilla, get your blades over here! We need you now! Andrek's life depends on it." he calls back to his companions.

As Andrek crosses the threshhold of the shrine and a blast of fire erupts from the rune hidden on the wall, Jeb notices just in time to duck. Most of the flames near him are stopped by Ares' personage being in the way.

Jeb regains his footing and advances a step forward, wary of entering the shrine himself lest there be another fiery eruption. Filled with righteous wrath he proclaims, "You abominations will die again here! You disrupt the cycle of life and death that my Lady of the Hunt holds so dear. I WILL end you!" He draws and releases two shots with extreme confidence.

Grimmy, couple of questions. First, would the dias in the center of the shrine give the red and maroon skeletons soft cover or full cover?

Secondly, is there any telling if the explosion that just happened is done, or will it happen again if I walk into the shrine?

I think we're a little lacking in Arcane. No offense, Lucia, but I don't consider AT a fully focused caster. I've always seen them as an augmented Rogue type. But I'm cool if we don't go for that. I'm amiable to whatever. I'm still having tons of fun with our group. As long as we get some positive story out of another person, I'm game.

Let me rephrase, Q. Magus is such an interesting class with great possibility for a lot of variety of builds. Yet I mostly see Dervish Dancing Magi with SG combo. And very few of them seem to be more than fighters with a magic trick. I'm all for using that class, but make it your own. I guess I just don't like it when people look at optimization guides and make cookie-cutter characters. There's really nothing wrong with it, I guess. As long as the gaming group is having fun, who cares?

But that build just isn't for me.
