Sorry I am just seeing this now. My group for D&D is full up and meets on Fridays. Would you be interested in another game or another day?
Hello there, I am looking to either join a group or start a group that would like to play either Pathfinder or 5.0. I tend to enjoy Homebrew or Sandbox type games that center on RP and let the pcs drive the stories (with a few set linear adventures as part of it). I also tend to like Evil, or a grey area type feel. I DM or Play and have plenty of experience. Let me know and maybe we can work something out (this would have to be a Wednesday night game -- I know with jobs and kids this might be difficult, but would like to see the interest)
I have decided to take 4e Neverwinter Campaign guide and some of the good stuff from 3e and work it into my setting. I think I will keep it simple as far as factions, and NPCs and (from what I read) put Lord Neverember in the LE alignment instead of Unaligned from 4e. Hopefully all goes smooth from here.
From an RP perspective: (not changing a thing) 1) Have the group go on a quest to get a dragon (for a hefty reward), have the dragon have a smaller than usual horde (or a normal one), when the party returns, the person or town celebrates their victory...until...they find out the Gunslinger was involved. "Oh you had to use that?!" or something similar 2)Have the user encounter the dragon, if they are victorious, they encounter either a group of Druids who are against the use of firearms in their area, or have them arrested by a King (or Duke or something) claiming "hunting on protected lands with a banded weapon"
What I did to change the flavor in my Gestalt was to have core classes (I swapped out Paladin for Inquisitor)and then a limited choice of "matches". Each of those classes had 4 a player could pick from to pair up the core class with. For instance: Barbarian could choose one from Druid, Oracle, Ranger and Sorcerer another was: Oracle could choose one from Bard, Fighter, Monk, Sorcerer I see no power difference from a normal 1rst level PC. They just add flavor, more choices, and split people from pouring x amount of point buy points into 1 or 2 stats.
I am trying to decide between running a political type game with some combat (similar to Dark Ages: Vampire), or a Fall Out style campaign (maybe even Shadowrun). I've seen builds and ideas on here with people using Pathfinder as the base system for things like this. However, I am looking at if I should limit certain classes, or even go so far as allowing the alternate alignments (unearthed arcana) for Paladins to allow for more gritty feel. Has anyone done any of this and can lend ideas or tidbits?

I had similar problems with DAV. For to hit: Dex+Dodge+Shield+Armor For damage: If bashing, a vamp takes 1/2 damage, lethal does a /, and aggravated does an x With fortitude, a vamp negates bashing up to what ever fort they have. so if a vamp has 3 fort and someone does 3 bashing, they take 0. And for every 2 points of fortitude, they can negate 1 lethal, so in the example above they would take 1. The other way you could go is raising the difficulty for damage and going with the normal system after that. sure they can hit easily, but to actually damage you would have to roll 8-9-10
"Heart of the Fields: Humans born in rural areas are used to hard labor. They gain a bonus equal to half their character level to any one Craft or Profession skill, and once per day they may ignore an effect that would cause them to become fatigued or exhausted. This racial trait replaces the skilled racial trait."
Where is the Blackened Curse from? I'm looking for it to give advice and cannot find it. Any who.. For Oracles I prefer Life (I like clouded vision for this curse or tongues) and Battle (lame is excellent for this curse). With Fire builds if you are going blaster type then I would concentrate on getting save DCs higher. I also (based on your description) would not shy away from dropping AOEs even with the party involved in combat with the baddies With wasting it could be a negative when manipulating the party or people for your ends as it effects Bluff.

I have run a few Pathfinder society events at Wonderland comics in Putnam a few times, and I know they have a good 20 players that play in home games. Unfortunatly I don't have time to add another game. I think I am on there and will try to post. Thanks for the info!
Looking to fill out a group in NE CT. Game is every Saturday and starts at 5pm. You can either be experienced or not (if you are experienced, please be flexible with game play style, and be flexible in the rules). I would cap the group at 6 (I have 2 -one has to take some Saturdays for things he had prior to joining). If I end up with 3 to 4, I will look at using Gestalt rules. Character creation is as follows: 18
If you want to have a 20 in a stat or a 6 in a stat, it must require decent to excelent RP and a bit of a backstory.
I've joined the forums under this name. Character names that I usually go with: Aedrik Firebeard (dwarf) Eldon Leagallow (human or halfling) Dimble (gnome) Makoa (Half-Orc) I will not be sure who or what I go with until I see the game, but if I played in a PBP or table top, these are also my go to names.
This sounds so awesome, and I am very excited for Pathfinder on-line. I'll be getting it as soon as it is out (unfortunately I cannot do much with the kickstarter right now *sad face*). Anywho, this is the type of group I would be interested in. I am not very good at PVP, but always like to help out when needed (when I played DDO). I can get teamspeak easily but what time do you usually meet at? As for characters, I enjoy playing most anything, but most likely will start out as a Cleric

That would be a very interesting concept to add to my idea. Other concepts would be to have a group of adventurers be a subversion group either finding out information, sowing seeds of dissent, maybe hit and run tactics to weaken certain objectives, assassination attempts or anything like that.
Gaming by porn was my most weird gaming time. We were at my friends house and was running WOD, so to get into the mood we had the lights off, problem was none of his other light sources worked and we did not want to use candles (tiny room, to many flammable objects). So we found an old mini TV/VCR combo. Put it on, but the channels did not work and the static was not bright enough. My friend says "press play there is a video in the VCR and that will brighten things up", well we did, and what came on...porn.. Not just normal porn, but like hard core bdsm stuff.
One of the ideas I was toying with was using Absolom. The city has reached a peak and can no longer support itself, the vassal city of Diobel can no longer take on the excess baggage of those who cannot find a place and the military city of Escadar grows restless. Recently the Inner Council reached an alliance with the Centaurs of the Island of Kortos as well as some of the mountain tribes (unknown to the region). This is on top of recent discoveries made from the Red Redoubt of Karamoss and adaptations of the "Machine Mages" notes. With this, Absolom has quietly built 2 new navies, one using steam power and one using air ships (the discoveries have also allowed them to build siege constructs, and a legion of Warforged) Currently it is using its agents to cause strife with Andoran and Cheliax (which has taken the Cheliaxian fleet away as well as it's agents). All Absolom needs is the right time to strike, but where and when remain a mystery.
For other means of powering ships, you could look at "harvesting" elementals (maybe they like doing it, maybe they lost a war a long time ago and this is their terms of surrender) As for choosing? hmm rolling is random, or you could say the first 8. Another interesting concept would be to have 8 people, and say if you had many more 12 or more, you could make them alternate crew members or have them be a sort of PC/NPC hybrid who work on the ship or with the main pcs on a daily basis, but only go out on "adventures" when either a main PC is down (say injured, or the person cannot post for some reason) or maybe they need "help" getting out of a situation that needs more than 8.
I've never done a PBP before and have been interested for some time. I've read the forum and think I have it down. However, how would you be doing dice rolls/confirming them? Also when you say all builds, are you going to do point buy or something else (that way we are all on the same page). I have some interest and will make a profile for the character as soon as I get the information :)
We are in Cranston, mainly home brew 3.5 one week and the other week we are running a Pathfinder Adventure Path. I think 2 (maybe 3) of the players might be interested in that (as 2 of us are involved in LFR). Game On has 4.0 but no PFS that I am aware of, not sure what else in that area would have anything.

I was planning on dropping off my info at Wonderland (talked to a few people there on Friday). I hope I can get a group going there or at the Steampunk Cafe in Danielson (as there are 2 D&D groups, so I am hoping some might want to try another game or they know people who they could not fit in)

I live in NE CT, can I post in the PFS and Warhorn (what about non PFS?)
Wish I could help, but I work Saturday nights. Have been trying to find a group for weeknight adventures depending on schedule and some other things going on. If you are interested let me know, right now I have myself (DM,player), my fiance (brand new to anything RPG and willing to learn) and a friend of mine. We live in CT and are not far (well within the 30 minute drive time)
jonnythm wrote: Hmmm if the story is based off the PCs race I would make sure that everyone is on board to play what you're playing first. That way if anyone has a problem playing a goblin, they could let you know, or if the campaign is not what the group is after you could get some opinions on what you guys DO want to play. We always talk about ideas and interesting races or story ideas, which was another thing that got me to thinking. In the end you are right about what they do want to play (which is why I have the alternate if say Drow or pre-gen does not go over) best thing is, the story does not really change (minor details really).
jonnythm wrote:
Both are valid points. Would it be easier to say then that the story is based off of this, here is the race you can play and here are the classes that are open? Is that just as restrictive? Yes I know DM has last say, but in the case with pre-gen it seems to not give space for players to invent. My goal is for them to enjoy and develop their PCs (no matter if they are pre-gen, or created per a set of guidelines) Playing the "We are Goblin's" mod is what got me to thinking and looking at pre-gen
I've read multiple threads on this but still have some lingering questions. When is this a good idea? What are the benefits? What Race would be best? (I've thought about Drow and Dhampir)*I am thinking this is more a storyline issue than a what works best issue* What happens in a group of 6 players, who are also as experienced as I am DMing and playing? If one Race is not the answer, would making the pre-gens out of different races be an option? I have decided on a Stat line of 16, 14, 12, 12, 10 and 10 My goal is to be as balanced as possible with the results, staying away from anything over an 18 (heck if 16 was the highest score, that would be great too) Thanks for any advice or even criticism.

A few things: Even though "rock me" Asmodeus roams the planet, I am sure he does not have his thumb on every demon or non demon So with that: PCs could be working for a demon lord who wants to expand his control over 'x' city PCs could be collecting on payments owed to a demon lord PCs could be out to set things right or bring back the balance PCs could be working for another Evil God who is jealous PCs could be tasked to find any resistance or hold outs that fought against Asmodeus

Thanks! They had one open, but at the time there was a possible chance I would go back to normal hours, now I think that group is full. I've tried the meetup group. And while summer is off a bit, its still nice to pass along the info!
Hi there, I'm a player and GM, looking for others who are in a similar situation. I work third shift, and one of my off day evenings is already a gaming night. However I am looking to add something to one of my days off, but during the day when I am off and my fiance is at work. I was thinking 11-4pm on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I live in CT, on the Mass/RI border and am close to Worcester and Providence. I've never done online or play by post, and prefer meeting at a FLGS. Anyone interested? Anyone with crappy hours or those days off because of odd shift/schedule? Let me know!
