Jack watched as the others gave their warnings first before producing the requested sword. Reluctantly, he offered the hilt to their patron with a warning of his own. "The crown's agents have ears and eyes everywhere and they are probably already aware of this quest of yours. This is potentially volatile information and I'd hope that I don't need to spell out how something volatile is regarded. It would be in your best interests to live a quiet life. Otherwise, it will likely turn into a quick life."

Jack was not in the happiest of moods now that they were done adventuring. "Stupid quest. Now all that's left is turning over the stupid relic and 'proof' and then we can cause all sorts of issues in Taldor. There are already other senators who are not a fan of Eutropia. If there's someone to rally behind, things could turn quite ugly."

I knew I couldn't benefit from the bonus if wearing them, but had hoped that I could if just holding them as improvised weapons since the ghost touch quality is on melee weapons as well. I can just post a less amusing attack.

I mistakenly thought that the ghost touch bracers were the amulet of mighty fists instead of the armor. Rolling with it even if I have to use magic to get up to "normal" attack modifiers.

Jack arched an eyebrow at Cadimus, glanced down at the old ghost touch bracers that Jack now possessed instead, and pumped in the remainder of his arcane pool. "Bold strategy for someone who was already disarmed." With that, Jack started smacking and backhanding the ghost with the old armor in Jack's hands.

Jack arched an eyebrow at Cadimus and pumped in the remainder of his arcane pool into his sword to deal with the ghost's intangibility. "Stick em with the pointy end." With that, Jack avoided his amusing idea and stuck with what worked.

Jack's danger sense worked as well as it usually did and he managed to avoid all of the damage, but his attention turned toward his griffin who wasn't nearly as fortunate and let out a cry of pain. He glared at the ghost and pulled the ghost touch bracers out of the bag. Tim backed away from the fight as Jack was doing something different than their usual tactics.
Jack's eyes briefly dimmed and instead of flying into a mindless rage when struck, his anger took a much more calculated form as he touched his harvested occultist implement and made a rapid gesture towards the ghost, biting out furious words along with it. "Cease this and be still!"

At least his sword is adamantine if the medusa fails the save.

Jack did his best to ignore the damage the medusa dealt, but if he hadn't already had an excuse to be frenzied, he certainly had one now. Having been the target of that spell at a tournament, he knew exactly what just happened. His attention remained fully on his challenged target, keeping him from really registering some of his allies' casting.

While in the state of mind that he was, Jack was unable to get particularly fancy with his own additional magic in the fight. Although he wasn't able to take as much advantage of the flanking they set up since the medusa was in flight, he also didn't seem to really mind as his swiftly struck his target.

As there was no longer a need to deal with the mooks, Jack turned his attention towards the medusa and slowed down his pursuit ever so slightly before a spiteful grin formed. Finally remembering that he had a haversack full of potential, he reached inside, pulled out an unmarked potion, and chugged it down. "Look! A distraction!"

With that, he made use of the potion's potential and ascended into the air, getting right in the medusa's personal space so he could have opportunities to strike if she moved or tried to continue making ranged attacks.

After witnessing a scene that was a bit unexpected of what he knew of medusas, Jack muttered a curse for using up his flight earlier in the day. "Eiseth's breath... They'll just dimension door or teleport to corner us into a hallway where we can't maneuver. At least we have some room here."

He briefly waivered like he was actually considering just closing the door, but then looked at all of the magic they had expended already and sighed. Knowing that this was going to hurt him as well, he angrily charged through, past the one that Yuri was likely going to tackle.

Jack tapped himself with his wand of bestow grace and shook his head. "I'll take them only if no one else needs the goggles. I have a feeling that they won't make much of a difference for me other than to make me more likely to miss with attacks. We have had some really unfortunate luck hitting things and really don't need to stack the deck to make it even more likely."

Jack's wings faded away and shook his head at the expensive scrolls. "Wish I understood the logic in that. Being buried with a weapon or instrument makes some sort of sense as the person likely would have used then. The scrolls wouldn't seem to have the same sentimental value. Unless the dead folk were the scribes of those scrolls."

Jack let out a laugh and dodged the fiery touch. "As useful as it would be for you to just heal me with fire, I'll pass for now." He swung his sword again as it started to glow, but he was too busy taunting his target to make contact on the first swing. "Hopefully you can do something other than use fire or this is going to go poorly for you."

Jack blinked once at the lightshow and shrugged as if in response to the question, but instead of it being simply an answer, a set of five burning wings appeared on his back. "Same suggestion as always: throw my body at the problem until someone else makes it go away."

With that, Jack took to the air and rose up to the challenge so that others could get in there as well. With sword in hand, he flew at the one to the side to let others deal with the one that was head on.

Satisfied that there weren't any traps, Jack moved along as well, signaling to his griffon to stay back a little. "I'm a fan of this course of action. Farabellus always said that real adventurers go left."

Jack didn't seem terribly surprised by the missing body. "Sure, that checks out. I'm not entirely sure why guardians would need to protect when dead anyways. Nearly everyone is due to hit the Boneyard anyways and, once you get there, what happens in the material plane is inconsequential." He lingered on the thought and shrugged. "Superstitious loved one or an artist who could upsell on something that is out of sight."

Jack started off the day casting mage armor and bestow grace on himself as his temporary check to his ego was forgotten and picked up Infensus Mucro once more. "Right then. So we have what we came for. I'm not totally on board with turning it over to him considering what trouble it will cause Eutropia... and me whenever I have to get stuck in Senate hearings. Dark Archive or Blakros Museum will probably pay comparable amounts of coin for the retrieval of the sword. Continue looting this cursed tomb or just bugger off?"

Jack also played with a small fire before sleep to heal some more and gave the remaining 7 goodberries to Tim. Endure Elements and Mage Armor cast as well.

Jack stared at his stone jug in thought. "That was the first time in awhile that I let my rage loose that much. It usually only comes out when someone hits me... and I was hit a lot yesterday. I won't be as lucky today as I was yesterday on relying on my own strength of ego to ignore magical effects. My ego's still larger than it should be, but it's possible that our sorcerer may be a better option for handling the sword."

He considered the rest of his adventuring party before finally making up his mind on what to make and spoke a brief phrase into the jug. "Anyways. Got about a gallon of plum wine to add to breakfast. I considered purchasing the food tent before this adventure, but it basically came down to that or enchanting the sword more. I do not regret my choice."

I have never ran out of rage before. Was almost out of spells as well.
Yuri can take +5Craft on next Crafting check from Crafter's Fortune.

Sure. Even with the lowered AC, 19 wouldn't hit and that's less healing needed later.

Jack was initially ready to flail the weapon around wildly, but after it reappeared, he took the opportunity to slow down a little and study it before trying to attack it at range. It went wide, but at least he still could make attacks if it tried to move outside of range again.

Sensing the devil moving away, Jack took a swing at it and failed again. His rage left him and, with only having one real option to get after it, defensively cast instant weapon to equip something with a bit more reach to it. He wearily smiled up in the air as he put away his sword and the opaque kusarigama appeared in his hands. He started twirling the force monk weapon around in anticipation of movement or an attack. "Yeah, that's about right."

Jack taking more damage did nothing to settle any rage he felt, so he continued to unleash it against the demon, even swinging wide at the end of his assault.

First time dealing with SR for myself, so I keep forgetting about it too. Were those SR rolls for everyone with SR or per person with SR? Jack has SR18 as well.

There's no reason to spend the additional coin on looking fabulous on a shell that is keeping you alive. Strikes me as someone who is unwilling to get in a scrap himself, splurging on appearances instead of practicality, and who would be willing to fight for that?"

He ran in with the heavy pick in hand, not putting any extra effort to avoiding the attacks to try to lure it into making an attack on him instead of any others who wanted to get up close.
