Okay new statblock, background, etc. should be on the profile now. I still need to do some formatting work to make it more presentable, but all of the relevant information is there at least. Anyhoo, let me know if there are any questions about anything! Jacinth Deepwarder, a young elven woman embarking on a new path and looking to repay a friend and lover by chasing down leads on the whereabouts of a crew of murderous pirates. But not all rumors are accurate and some lead to things much stranger and deadlier than anticipated...
Really shouldn't do this, but I'll throw in too - Lovecraftian themes are hard to resist! This will be the character I'll be using but disregard the profile for now; she'll need quite the overhaul but my plan is for a Slayer (Sniper). Race will stay the same. I'll post again once I've got her adjusted for this game :)

I had a great time and thank you again for inviting me in to run Jacinth. The character as initially written was very different from the sorts of characters I had been used to playing but she grew on me and I would now rank her as one of my favorite characters that I've played to date! I'm sad to say goodbye, but I look forward to writing a new story with you all in Osirion :)

"We are well enough, under the circumstances," Jacinth nods. "And yes, you are correct - this place was indeed home to a foul creature, a demon from the Abyss. This demon enthralled man and beast alike and was ultimately responsible for the sinking of both the Dulcimer and the Rita. Fortunately, we were able to slay him and most of his hiwani thralls that populated this place...though not without difficulty." She glances back in the direction of their campsite and sighs, her voice dropping as she is reminded of all that has been lost. "Although we managed to rescue six of my former friends the seventh, Maximilian Sidrow, met an unfortunate end here - as did Maka, Kaleo, Butterfly and Dirty Pete."

Though unable to hear what is being said, there's no mistaking the body language expressed by both Nef and Zem as they slowly make their way back towards the group. Oren has the right idea; they need some time alone to talk. She gives a nod to the reunited couple and turns to follow Oren, trailing along behind him down the beach. After moving a respectful distance away, she stops and turns to gaze out at the ocean and the Kolohe. "What an excellent day for a rescue and reunion, is it not?" she muses aloud.

FINISH OF DAY 9 Though the rest of the day's work proves exhausting in its own fashion, Jacinth is relieved to hear that the remainder of her former friends should eventually recover from their ordeal, at least physically. She has no doubt however that they will be forever left with some degree of emotional scarring, especially the girls. Once the shelters are set and the evening meal polished off, the elven woman sits in quiet contemplation for a time, listening to the rain fall. When the rain eventually slacks up, she stands and moves over to where Rata sits. "Rata...will you speak with me for a moment? Privately?" she murmurs quietly. For perhaps the first time since being placed under Nef's truth-telling magic, she seems to be quite nervous. Ignoring any looks or snickers or smiles from the others she pulls him away from the campsite, though the others notice that they do not move out of sight. Anyone that cares to observe notes that they stand talking in low voices for some time, occasionally glancing over to the rest of the group, before eventually rejoining them. Despite the apparent seriousness of whatever was discussed, both man and elf are smiling... GM:
No need to RP this conversation out for obvious reasons, but during this time Jacinth will basically have 'the talk' with Rata concerning their potentially budding feelings for one another as well as her own future. Assuming he's amiable (which given how Rata was RPed by original player, I'd say that he would be), she offers to travel with him once they return to Port Shaw and aid him in finding the Wailing Gypsy as thanks for helping her set things right regarding the Dulcimer crew. This is also a means to see where their relationship goes, though she'll still help him out whether they become lovers or not. I'm also assuming that Rata will probably be happy about this, hence the mention of him smiling as well after their talk. DAY 10 As the others stand and watch the ship that Rata sighted move closer and closer to the island, Jacinth's eyes widen with surprise when she recognizes that it's the Kolohe. "Nef, I believe I owe you an apology," she says with a shake of her head and a disbelieving smile. "Zem did come for you, like you said that he would. I am sorry that I doubted him."

Jacinth sighs inwardly but decides not to argue the point. "Very well; outside it is if that is what everyone would be most comfortable with. And yes, go ahead Nef. The rest of us can work on organizing what we have found as well as making sure we did not miss anything. Once you return, I say we should go and recover our charges."

I derp really hard sometimes when I post late at night or when I'm sleepy. In addition to the arrows, Jacinth would want the +1 elven curved blade and the undead-bane longbow since the blade was made for elves, by elves, and no one else uses a longbow. Otherwise, she's content to let everything else be divvied up according to need/want/best use. "Indeed," Jacinth pants, the rapid succession of battles in such a short span having left her somewhat winded. "Now that we know rescue will eventually come for certain, it seems that all we have to do now is wait and survive - which should be much, much easier to manage now that we have a proper shelter within this place." She turns to Aikane. "Though I would have appreciated knowing that you arranged a rescue in the event of something happening to our ship just a little sooner, I am glad that you had the foresight to do so. Thank you." "I suspect we will have plenty to do while we wait for the Quell's Whore to arrive. We will need to go and fetch our charges, as well as Maximilian's remains. There is also the matter of cleaning this place up and consecrating it. Nef, I am not sure what use the rest of us can be on the last point, but we will do what we can to help," she continues, mentally ticking off a list of tasks. "That statue up above should be destroyed as well, if we can manage it; I would love to wipe every trace of that thing's presence from this island." "Other than that, the expected tasks - hunting, foraging, fishing. Now that we have access to a kitchen, our meals will hopefully become a little more palatable now," she grins. "There may still be some dangers lurking about, but as long as we are vigilant, I suspect we can weather them without too much trouble." Jacinth hasn't forgotten what Nef said about the Kolohe, but she's still got her doubts as to whether or not they'll show up anytime soon.
Inactive
Yeah, I'd figured that since the Kraken went ahead and told us what each thing is, that we just gathered everything we found into a pile and went from there with identifying the magic items. Jacinth is happy to take the arrows, but there's not really anything else there that she'd be especially bound and determined to have.
Inactive
"Though it is sentient, would not slaying it be the kindest thing to do, releasing it from an eternity of unlife and service to a 'master' long since dead?" Jacinth replies. "The things that it guards might very well give me insight into my people's history here, though that insight might also be found among those tomes in the other room. At the very least, they may aid us in our survival here until we are rescued or devise some other means of leaving."
Inactive
"That...that is it then? Hawanapoki is dead, gone, banished?" Jacinth whispers, scarcely able to believe her eyes. But then she realizes that the constant buzzing sensation in the back of her mind is gone, replaced with blessed silence. "At las-ah!" she gasps in surprise as Nef grabs her and swings her around in a victory dance. She laughs, finding her friend's jubilant mood infectious. However, her expression does sober at Oren and Aikane's words. "I no longer feel his presence in my mind, but that does not mean that there are no more dangers to face here," she nods somewhat reluctantly. "Let us finish examining this...chamber. Then perhaps we will be able to celebrate." Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Jacinth gasps with amazement as she feels the Haste spell take hold on her, her movements quickening...or was it the world that slowed down? With lightning speed, she loads another arrow and fires off a shot at the demon before moving aside for the others. Attack (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Flag, PB Shot, Haste): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 29
Is this how humans see the world all the time!? No wonder they always hurry with everything that they do!

Although Jacinth feels the tension of the moment weighing down on her, she can't help but smile faintly at Nef's words. "Yes. Let's." Before she readies her bow, she digs into her pack and pulls out a small potion. "Every little bit helps," she murmurs as she drinks it down, gagging slightly at the taste. Potion of False Life: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 temporary hitpoints gained. As she steals a quick glance at Rata, the elven woman's features settle into a look of determination. No, no 'last minute' words. I will not let this horror rush what need not be rushed, I will NOT! We will win. Then...then I will speak my heart. And hope that he will speak his, too. When the doors open wide, Jacinth's eyes lock onto the form of their foe, the damnable creature from the Abyss. Even with her stomach churning at the sight of the creature and at the unholy chamber, she raises her bow. "It is time to do what my foolish ancestors should have done long ago! Halam sahlin!" she cries as she fires. Attack (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Flag, PB Shot): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 28
She then quickly steps back and to the side to allow room for Wedjat and the others to move into the room even as she reaches for another arrow. Elven: "This ends now!"

"Well done everyone!" Jacinth says with an approving look as she scurries clear of Lani's fiery sneezes. With a bit of organization, we actually make quite the effective team don't we? "How is everyone? Nef, Lani? You both suffered wounds...are you feeling well, under the circumstances?" she asks, knowing full well the diminishing power of the hawanis' bite.
Inactive
As the remaining hawanis charge and crash against her companions in a flurry of teeth and claws, Jacinth steps around Lani and fires an arrow into his attacker. Attack (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Flag, PB shot): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 30
RATAGANGER "Gotcha!" Rata calls in response to Reknar, though he never takes his eyes off of his target. Before the hawani has a chance to gather itself for another barrage of attacks the swashbuckler lashes out with his dagger, attempting to put the creature down for good. Attack (Mwk Dagger; Inspire Courage, Flag): 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 12 + 2 + 1 = 22
Inactive
"Right!" Jacinth nods curtly. Raising her bow, she deftly fires off a shot at one of the approaching hawanis before falling back from the door and readying another arrow. Attack (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Flag, PB Shot): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 21
Firing at the one directly in front of where Aikane/Jacinth are; I'm assuming Inspire Courage/Flag will be in effect but if not, that knocks the attack roll down to 18 and the damage done to 7. Not sure if Aikane provides cover or not since he's small.

Jacinth scowls as the crypt thing ignores her and her question, but does not interrupt as it shares what it knows of the elves' history with Dolentla. "Hum...the demon was actually being truthful about having been here first, then. Very clever to blend lies and truth together," she mutters. "Urthlan was a fool to try and bind him for his own use." The things this creature guards could prove useful against the demon, but is it an encounter we want to risk right now? If it gives Reknar pause, then perhaps not. But maybe we can at least learn more about this place. "Do you know of anything else about this complex aside from this room you have been bound to guard? Any defenses that might still be intact or other hazards to watch for?"
Inactive
"It is quite possible..." Jacinth replies to Nef as she files into the master bedroom with the others. "My people are known for having an appreciation of the finer things in life." As Oren points them towards a section of wall that seems magical, she cautiously approaches for a closer look. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

"Aikane is correct; this island lies close to well-traveled shipping lanes. We will just have to be patient. But for now, we need to concentrate on finding our oh-so-pleasant host," Jacinth murmurs. "Shall we?" And if not, this place would make a perfectly serviceable shelter if...no, *when* we defeat this demon.
Inactive
Jacinth swiftly maneuvers around the table to the spot that Aikane just vacated, raising her bow to fire at the creature now that the other door is open. Attack (Longbow; Inspire Courage, Flag, PB Shot): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 30
Inactive
RATAGANGER As Reknar and the others ready themselves, Rata swiftly takes up a position opposite of Aikane by the western table and readies his daggers to be thrown once an opening presents itself. Readied Action (Dagger Throw): Thrown mwk dagger: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13 (critical threat range of 17-20) Damage: 1d4 + 12 ⇒ (2) + 12 = 14 (5 dex, 2 weapon spec, 4 deadly aim, 1 trait) + 5 (precise strike)

This is going to look a bit ugly format-wise but I would prefer not to create a new alias for Rata since we are close to finishing so I will just post everything under this one profile and designate who is doing what as needed. Also I am dumb and got the two directions confused, thinking we were going down the hallway instead of the the double doors that are like, 10 feet ahead of us and that Reknar can probably just open once they've been cleared for traps and/or being locked. Clearly, the demonic influence has addled Jacinth's brain. "Well..." Jacinth studies the double doors that lie only feet ahead of them. "There is not much distance to cover and it is possible that whatever lies on the other side has already heard us moving about on this side. Let us all ready ourselves and then see what lies beyond," she nods to Reknar.
Inactive
Jacinth looks down at Aikane, a slight look of surprise on her face. Well that is different...he usually does not report directly to me and somehow I doubt that I have suddenly risen in esteem within the last few minutes. But I suppose it does not matter right now. "Well we certainly are not in need of a snack at the moment nor do I expect to find implements of demon-slaying and destruction in a kitchen," she whispers, beckoning the others closer while eyeing Lani. "So the slightly open door would seem to be the path to follow."
Inactive
"...It would seem so," Jacinth finally replies to Nef. "And underground, which would be considered 'unexpected' given the nature of my people. Clever." And we should have come this way after our first battle at that altar. Perhaps then we would still have our ship and our crew. I am such a fool...
Inactive
Kn. History: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 Jacinth stares at the statues, straining her memory to recall who they were meant to honor but is unable to determine anything. "I wish I knew," she whispers in response to Lani's questions. "I feel as though I should know this, but I simply cannot determine who they were crafted to represent." She shakes her head. "His presence in the back of my mind...I cannot keep my focus," she adds, shivering slightly. Pretty sure either I or Oren would need to roll a 20 and then the other make a successful Aid Another to make that DC, but it was worth a shot anyway hehe.

I'm not especially picky on paths so I'd be happy to go with what the majority wants (or determine it at random, hehe). Currently have a cleric that's done (Ecclesitheurge) and a fighter that's got crunch done and just lacks some fluff (Dawnflower Dervish) though I'd prefer to play the cleric first :)

Welcome Bret! Re: PFS - I've had similar concerns as Reknar regarding there being little in the way of continuity with PFS scenarios and lack of a steady group, which has put me off trying it until now. However, I have seen where folks have compiled lists of scenarios that if ran consecutively are supposed to provide some degree of continuity though I don't know how much. Otherwise, the only other thing I could say is to try and get into games with people/characters you know, which is what I'll probably try to do when possible :)

Jacinth scans her crew with a discerning eye and then, satisfied that everyone seems as well as can be expected, nods. "Very well. Let us continue onward. Aikane has better eyes than mine, so allowing him to move ahead to watch for traps and other trouble would be best. Then Reknar, myself, 'Lani, Oren, Nef and Wedjat and then Rata at the back." Tossing out a rough marching order to get us going; if anyone wants to change it or has a better idea then feel free to say so, hehe.

"Actually, I had not noticed in the heat of battle, but now that you mention it those last two did not charge immediately did they? You are probably correct about there being a trap or multiple traps of some sort ahead," she sighs. "As always I can use my eyes to keep watch for such things, but as far as disarming them is concerned...that is out of my realm of expertise and experience." Looking over where Aikane stands speaking quietly with Rata, she smiles grimly. "Aikane is the only one who can help there, I believe." She then looks at Nef as well as Oren. "Our host is not a fool. I am sure that he has realized that you, Nef, provide our party with a great deal of support during and after battle. And that Oren's magic is extremely potent and deadly, if not to him then to his thralls. The two of you pose the biggest threat...and so I imagine that he will seek to target the two of you first and foremost. A great deal of caution is in order as we continue," she says quietly.
Inactive
Satisfied that nothing seems ready to leap out at them right this instant, Jacinth quickly checks the bodies of the hawanis for anything useful although she doesn't expect to find much. Perception (Search): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 *sad trombone* "Is everyone okay? Oren, Rata? We do not need to charge forward blindly but we do not need to tarry here either. Once wounds have been attended to we should continue onward. The trail that we discovered a few days ago seems to be what we need to follow, yes?"
Inactive
"I believe that was the largest group of them we have seen yet," Jacinth observes as they regroup and tend to the wounded. "And once again, they were waiting for us. Our host seems to be growing uneasy. Good," she smiles. "But of course that does not mean that we need to grow overconfident, either."
Inactive
Trusting the Oren would be temporarily safe as he currently presented no threat in his slumber, Jacinth advances forward a few paces and takes aim at one of the two hawanis (#4) currently swinging at Rata. Attack (Longbow; PB Shot, Inspire Courage, Flag): 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 31
Inactive
As Reknar deftly drops the two charging hawanis before they can so much as get in a swing with their claws, Jacinth turns and swiftly falls back to where the path meets the clearing. Having heard Oren's cry of pain, she takes aim at the hawani that menaces him. "Oh no, we will not be doing this again! Get off of him!" she snarls as she fires another arrow. Attack (Longbow; PB Shot, Inspire Courage, Flag): 1d20 + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 25
Inactive
Jacinth falls back a pace next to Reknar as she raises her bow and takes aim at one of the hawanis that approaches from the altar, loosing an arrow. Attack (Longbow; PB Shot, Inspire Courage, Flag): 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 27

Jacinth looks at the weapon blanch for a moment, thinking. "Let us put one dose on one of Aikane's daggers and the other on some of my arrows. That way each of us has some ability to damage this horror." Once everyone seems ready, she nods in response to Nef's words. "Aikane could teach me a thing or two, to be honest. Perhaps he can lead and I shall follow behind him, if a rear guard is not needed for the group as a whole." Unless anyone has any better ideas, Jacinth will apply a dose of weapon blanch to her 4 +1 arrows and 6 regular arrows.
Inactive
"Well...if most everyone else has a cold iron weapon, perhaps we could do something for some of my arrows, then? Or Aikane's daggers?" Jacinth checks her quiver, taking a brief inventory. "I have twenty-two arrows left, as well as four that are imbued with a small amount of magic. I also have my dagger, though I think I would prove more effective with my bow."
Inactive
"I wonder who cultivated it...the original Tulitan inhabitants or my own people?" Jacinth murmurs, then shakes her head. "Actually never mind, I am not sure that I want to know at this point." As they near the clearing with the statue, Jacinth keeps watch as the group pauses and begins to prepare for the upcoming battle. "I would say Reknar could make the best use of your extract, 'Lani, provided the tunnels and spaces beyond are large enough to accommodate his increased size," she suggests. "And do not forget that strange powder you showed to us a few days ago - even though I am still not sure of what it does, you and some of the others behaved as though it would be a great help to us." She then digs into her pack and pulls out a small vial. "I have been carrying this for some time; I believe it has the same effect as one of the spells you just cast on yourself Oren - False Life? Should I use it myself or would it be best given to someone else?" Jacinth is referring to the cold iron weapon blanch that Lani has; I'd say use it for Reknar and maybe Rata's weapons. Nef has her cold iron kopesh but I don't think anyone else can use it effectively besides her. Jacinth also has a Potion of False Life that someone can use.

While the group gathers up their finds and prepares to return to the cove once more, Jacinth nods in response to Nef's request. "That should not be a problem. As always, be careful when you go." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Once camp is secured and everyone fed, Jacinth takes a few moments to simply sit and watch the sun sink over the horizon, marveling at the sunset's beauty. As she does, her thoughts turn to the future, not the group's this time, but her own. Even if we manage to return to Port Shaw with the others, Maximilian is still gone. Though his spirit has forgiven me, I doubt his family will see it the same way...and who knows what that will mean for me, for the family name. Would Uncle Senegar decide that I have been too much of a nuisance for him and send me back to Mother and Father? There had been a time where the thought of returning home would have filled her with joy. She had hated being sent away, hated the Razor and its strange peoples and their strange, primitive ways. Being sent home would have seemed a reward, not a punishment. But now... I am not the same person that I was a week ago. Do I even want to return home? Who says that I have to return home or even return to Uncle Senegar? After this mess I certainly will not be welcome among the elite of Port Shaw...there would be little to return to. Perhaps I should make my own way, instead. Her lips twitch in a smile as she gazes around at the camp, at the others milling around. There will certainly be time to think on it, at any rate. Will (DC 15): 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 4 = 25 Later, she beds down for the night feeling surprisingly at ease under the circumstances. She wasn't sure if it was simply Maximilian's presence or the knowledge that she had been forgiven, but sleep finds its way to her quickly despite the lingering presence of Hawanapoki in the back of her mind and she sleeps soundly through the night.
