The city guard at the back of the group spoke up, clearly feeling out of her depth, but also clearly feeling as though "someone ought to do something."

"And what business is it that you're up to, then? An' why'd we want to be lettin' you walk away scott free?" Her accent was that of the lower classes, and sounded almost nothing like Izra.

... She hoped.

Izra, pretending to be a dumb soldier, doesn't want to speak up here, but *someone* might want to ask the dude what his business is, and why we should let him and his buddies leave.

Just to rewind a little bit, Izra wanted to hand Ptmenib her silver mace and her crossbow, with some normal bolts. She figures she'll be too busy making with the heals and whatnot to actually do much offensive good with them, and he asked for a weapon. Also, if it's permitted, (totally cool, if not - just let me know) she'll use her Sleeves to change the appearance of her outfit to that of a private/newbie in the City Guard, before they enter the room, and she'll stand near the back of the group, looking confused and overwhelmed, with her spear in her left hand. (Basically, she wants to look like a non-competent melee type). Also, did P. answer Ahmed's question?

Well, I'm glad to hear that everything is going relatively well, even if it could so obviously be objectively much better. All the best, Ray.

Izra was looking down the well at the body, when Torin made his exclamation. She turned to the dwarf and examined the amulet.

Appraisal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 *sigh*

"Pretty, indeed," she said, distracted by the body, "probably worth something, but I'm not sure how much time I'd put into it."

She gave Torin a nod, then went back to the well.

How long do we think it'll take to clear the room? If anyone (else - Izra doesn't) has magic that'll clear the room out faster (gust of wind?), I'd say we do that. Otherwise, this isn't the guy we're looking for, and we can come back (maybe close the doors?). This feels like a trap, either way. :-)

Izra nodded.

"Suspicious, indeed."

She walked over to the doors, tucking a flask of alchemist's fire into an empty compartment on her bandolier. There, she muttered a few words of power, and gave the doors a hard look.

Cast Guidance, then attempt to see if she can get any idea of what might be behind the doors.Perception: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 1 = 18

Izra will take the following: alchemist’s fire (x2), holy water (x2), antitoxin (x2), and one of the bracelets.

I have 8 charges remaining on the party's original CLW wand, and 23 on the wand we recovered from the Scorched Losers. I'd suggest that DJ take any offensive tossables, but Karl is hit or miss right now (for solid reasons), so we can either have DJ take them and have Ray DMPC DJ throwing them as appropriate, or Izra can take them, and hand them to DJ as appropriate if/when he's available, or use them if that's more appropriate.

Izra gave Koshu another nod and smile, then she tapped him on the nose once more with her wand. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Koshu gains 8hp

As the big Catfolk turned his attention to other things, and Kwin spoke up, Izra moved over to the Kitsune and tapped him with the wand as well. Looking over the results, she frowned, and tapped him a second time.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Kwin gains 6hp - the wand just doesn't love you, Kwin!

"Let's try not to get ourselves killed looking for him, yes? Koshukhep, you and Kwin should take those potions."

Izra shook her head at Kwin, while moving to Koshukhep's side. She winced at the extent of the big catfolk's injuries, and pulled out her wand. She tapped Koshu on the nose, three times.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Sorry guys, life has been doing life-y things, and I don't always realize when I've been logged out of the Paizo boards, so when I do the quick "any new posts?" check, I don't always realize that no new posts are showing because I'm a "guest."

Anyhoo, posted.

Moving a bit more carefully, Izra followed Kwin into the room, clambering over and through the debris, until she could tap him again with her wand.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3Kwin gains 3 hp. Ugg.

Izra, seeing Kwin drop, moved cautiously up to kneel next to the fallen Kitsune. Trying to keep herself hidden behind the door frame as much as possible, she reached out and let Pharasma's cool, soothing energy flow through her hands and into Kwin's body.

Hey guys, my apologies. My life kinda took a "blow up in your face" direction at the end of June, and I haven't been able to maintain consistency in much of anything. If it's not directly in front of my face, I'm having trouble remembering to do things.

I expect things to remain wobbly until at least the end of July, possibly mid-August, but I'm putting guide rails in place to keep me a bit more on the ball. So I might need the occasional nudge, but I should be here. Mostly.

Thanks.

Izra's eyes narrowed in speculation as she watched Ahmed and Suri. She nodded, but then frowned.

"It's a statue of the Auroric Flame-Mother," She whispered to the others. "A representation of the elemental lord Ymeri. A powerful patron worshiped by many in the Plane of Fire. Known to some as the Guardian of the Wish".

She frowned some more. "I'm not sure what it would be worth, but I suspect that it's not a thing that Ahmed or Suri would part with at this point, for any price."

I don't even know if Slashing damage would be helpful or not, from a Meta perspective. I was just going with Izra saying something that might be helpful, and since Torin's last arrow didn't seem to do much damage, while Kosh seems to be shredding the thing, she made an assumption. ;-)

Izra moved up and into the fight, her healing wand at the ready. "Kwin," she called to the kitsune as she shoved aside chairs and tables on her way to him, "Try to slice, not jab!"

OK, a lot of contingency/fluff stuff here. She's going to move up to be adjacent to Kwin. I forget how the diagonal movement rules work with difficult terrain, so I moved her on a path that puts her adjacent to Kwin, but also in melee with the Tekenu. If it's POSSIBLE, I'd rather she be one more square to the left (diagonally adjacent to Kwin, and not in Melee), but I'm not sure she has enough movement to do that without passing through the square I put her in, and provoking an AoO. If it's doable, without the AoO, I'd prefer she be there, in which case her advice to Kwin is fluff, and she'll hit him with the wand of CLW. If it's NOT possible, then I'll leave her where she is, and her advice to Kwin will be a use of her Combat Advice feat, and give Kwin +2 to hit. She'll hand out healing later. :-)

Izra's fingers worked at one of the leather frogs holding a glass vial secured in a pocket on her bandolier. Her eyes did not leave the floating, twisting collection of viscera. The frog came undone and the flask slid into Izra's hand, the stopper sealed with a silver and purple blob of wax impressed with the holy symbol of Pharasma. She handed the flask to Djehuti.

"This might help," she muttered, still watching the Tekenu's motions intently.

Suddenly, her glowing blue eyes flared in triumph. "Torin! The heart stays central! Everything else moves around that!"

M/E Action to pull the flask of holy water free and hand it to Dj, M/E action to use Combat Advice feat and give Torin +2 to his next attack.

"Yes," Izra answered Torin, as she moved up to tap Koshukhep with a wand, which sheathed the Catfolk warrior in a shield of magical protection, "Yes, we did. But we were just trying to survive then. Now, we have someone to resuce."

She'll move up and cast Prot. Evil on Kosh, from her wand of the same name.

Izra nods in agreement with Djehuti, but frowns as she begins looking over the body and discovers the silver chain bracelet. "Silver Chain Gang. We might want to catch that one, after all. But it is probably more important to see what they were so worried about us finding - and there is a priest to rescue." In her concern about what the men were guarding, Izra wasn't able to give the chain a proper looking over, and so its value escaped her normally sharp assessment.

She could hit the DC by taking 10, but this doesn't seem the time or place - we have a priest to rescue, after all.

Ahmed wasn't in a spot where he could have touched Suri, so I moved him. If you'd rather be in a different spot, Ahmed, let me know.

Izra had let a small smile pull at the corners of her mouth when her target had turned and stabbed his companion. The smile faded, however, when the two "watchemn" had recovered and counterattacked so quickly - and effectively.

Koshukhep's equally effective counter-counterattack eased her concerns a little, however, and Izra reached out and touched the big catfolk on the shoulder with one of her wands. She didn't bother to tap his nose this time, however, as it seemed... unwise, given his current mood.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

I do not wish to complain, but Izra thinks it took some of the funny away that the dude who rolled a natural 1 on his saving throw instantly knew it was magic that caused his stabby behavior, and that the other dude believed him. :-p

I'm sure that we'll survive, however. And it was still funny. :D

Izra sighed.

"You are tiresome," she said to the one who spoke, "and lying, so thank you for sparing us another of your 'requests.' In gratitude, I will point out that your partner was about to stab you in the back. You should probably kill him."

Cast "Murderous Command" on the guard who spoke. (Will Save vs. DC 15 to negate)

Izra nodded. "Of course we will help. Lead us to him. Can you tell us who captured him?"

Going up against living enemies - while justifiable - bothered Izra, when there were so many undead that needed defeating, but it sounded like there may be a clue here in what was happening. Possibly.

She turned to the others, "I wonder if the Silver Chain have something to do with this mess. At the least, if we can rescue Ptemenib, that's another to help us against the abominations."

The problem is, I don’t see a group of "hero/adventurer types" in the middle of a major crisis, saying, "one of us is out of a consumable resource. We should go to bed and chill out while the world around us goes to hell."

After a while, yes, the new normal kicks in, but in the first 24-48 hours, folks tend to work until/through exhaustion.

On a more meta/game focused level, while Djibuti has used an inordinate percentage of his consumable resources for the day, that is in part because the rest of us didn't have our resources available to use. So the party is actually above "half full," as it were. We're a touch out of balance, but not in dire straits.

Also, I'll bet we can find a magic shop that would feel gratitude for being rescued... :)

I say we adventure a bit more. At least get to the Pharasmin temple, rescue some folks, and get an idea of what we're up against.

Izra had been staring out into the night, her face growing stony with anger... and possibly fear, as well.

"We need to get to the inn, first," she said, "I will be precious little help in this getup." She indicated her dress and lack of other equipment with an impatient wave.

I don't think she can use the scrolls.

Izra, after first making sure that the mummy wasn't going to rise up again, let the shadows surrounding her flicker and fade, until she was once again visible in her fancy (if less-than-tactical) dress, holding the wand of healing in her hand. She frowned, then sketched the sign of Pharasma in the air over the fallen corpse.

"Who is injured," she asked, looking around.

She'll poke people with the CLW wand, as needed.

With the rest of the group having followed Izra's suggestion, and the mummy surrounded in flame, Izra turned her attention to Suri, tapping her friend and former employer on the shoulder with the magical wand Izra held in her hand.

She did roll for it. Post 2166. Will save of 26.

"The feet! Keep its feet aflame!" Izra urged Koshukhep again. She herself stayed out of the undead abomination's range, keeping a close eye on Suri.

MA to give Koshu a +2 to hit again. Stand pat, Ready Action to smack either the mummy or Suri with the CLW wand if appropriate.

Seeing the massive damage to Suri, Izra changed her tactics, stepping up just close enough to touch her wounded companion and release the healing energy she'd been holding into Suri's arm.

"Aim at its feet!" She advised Koshu as the catfolk drew back to throw the flask of liquid fire.

5' step to touch Suri, 12hp healing (Standard Action), use Move Action to add +2 to Koshu's attack roll (which makes it a 17)

The characters don't know that, though. And not all of us have alchemist's fire with us.

Personally, I think we're screwed, here. If I remember right, Mummies hit hard and often, and Mummy Rot is a Bad Thing. We're pretty much out of offensive magic (depending on what Ahmed has up his sleeves), and all of Izra's fire abd/or holy water weapons are back at the room. I suspect that she can do some damage with CMW, but he's probably able to break her in two or three hits. Her 50% miss chance helps, but that's a tough thing to rely on.

Anyone else got any bright ideas?

Will there be no end to these abominations? Izra thought, furiously. That thought was followed swiftly by (yet another) brief thought for all of the equipment she's left in her room at the inn.

"I will bring Pharasma's Judgement upon thee," she quietly vowed. Then, a figure of shadow and righteous wrath, she moved to engage the enemy, trusting to her shadows and faith to keep her safe, while searching her brain for what she knew of mummies.

Double Move to get to where I've placed her, as I think we're treating the chairs as Difficult Terrain, yes? Also, the vow is to activate her ability to give herself +4 to any one D20 roll, which she added (unnecessarily)to her Will save. In addition, she's still holding her charge on the CMW (which will, eventually, cure or cause 12hp of damage. :-)

In her beautiful party dress, there really wasn't a lot that Izra could do to help, but wreathed in shadows, at least she was less of a target. Holding her wand ready in one hand, she slipped up to a position where she could at least be of help to Koshukhep.

She'll move to where I've put her on the map, and cast Cure Moderate Wounds, then hold the charge. If a hand attacks her, she'll try to Touch Attack with the CMW to do damage. If no hand attacks her, she'll just hold the charge, unless Kosh gets seriously hurt, in which case, she'll use it to heal him.

Izra heard the warning calls, and stepped up beside Djheuti, her wand in hand, but shook her head at the sight of the swarm of hands. "I cannot do anything against that," she said. She cursed again at her decision to leave most of her gear - like her bandolier full of area-effect items and holy water - in her room.

She has a ton of good stuff for this back in her room. *sigh* But for the moment, it's the CLW wand, or her limited spells.

Izra also moved to assist the fallen, her wand moving swiftly - almost prefunctoraly - to heal their hurts, before the shadow-cloaked woman followed Koshukhep outside, looking for the source of the undead abominations.

Having healed Kwin, Izra now turned her attention to the abomination shuffling in front of her. Her eyes were two glowing spots of angry blue fire wreathed in shadow as she stepped up beside the flamboyant Kitsune and jabbed her wand towards the creature's midsection.

"Back to the grave with you, abomination!"

Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 I think that hits as a Touch attack
Damage?: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

5' step (indicated on the map), attack with wand of CLW. Since she's in the danger zone now, for the record, AC is 14, with a 50% miss chance for concealment. If this continues too long, she'll pull up SoF, but hopefully she just blew this one away.

Managing (just barely) not to curse aloud, Izra finished fishing the wand out of her dress (the shadows hiding her from sight were helpful in that regard), but instead of launching an attack against a nearby undead abomination, she followed Kwin (much less flamboyantly) through the field of chairs, looking to tap him with her wand.

Move (as indicated on the map) so that she's in range of Kwin. That's it for now, as it took a M/E to pull the wand, and a Move to catch up with Kwin. Intent (assuming he stays within range) is to heal Kwin next round with a shot from her wand of CLW.

Izra cursed, as she realized that her lovely dress and jewels weren't going to give her much in the way of protection against the undead threat. Worse was the realization that most of her specialized gear was also out of reach. Most of it would not have gone well with her dress, and there weren't many places to hide those kinds of things in this outfit.

Still, she wasn't completely defenseless, nor was she without some ability to send the things back to their graves. But it wasn't going to be easy, either.

"Kwin, cut them!" She called out, while reaching to pull a wand from where she'd had it strapped to her inner thigh under the dress. At the same time, she silently called on her goddess. Izra's eyes flared a bright blue, as the shadows in the room, rather than be driven away by the light of her eyes, seemed to coalesce and converge upon her. In the space of a few breaths, Izra's form was replaced by a flickering shadow and two blue flames where her eyes once were.

Move Action to use Combat Advice and give Kwin +2 to attack. Standard to cast Protective Penumbra, and activate her 50% miss chance. If she can also pull out her wand of CLW, cool. If not (it is hidden, after all), that's fine, just fluff it up, and she'll draw it next round.

I had actually forgotten about haversacks. Might be a thing to add to Izra's list.

I am hesitant to tempt the RNG, but yeah, let's sell the shield.

Can Izra's +10 appraisal skill provide an aid another bonus to whoever does the buying for us? Her bluff and intimidate are pretty low, at +4. Failing that, can she throw a +1 Guidance bonus on our negotiator?

Izra showed up dressed somewhat differently than the others were used to seeing her. The black-and-grey armored uniform she almost always wore in public was gone, and for once, it hadn't been replaced by a black-and-grey un-armored uniform. Instead, she dazzled in a shimmery, silver-black dress that highlighted her pale skin, cut to accent her slim, graceful frame. The dress was chased in silver, and the whole ensemble matched very well with the onyx and silver symbol of Pharasma that glittered as it hung from her neck.

She smiled and chatted politely as she made her way around the Jackal, listening to stories, returning a few of her own. Her blue eyes narrowed dangerously, however, when she overheard one particular rumor.

Rumor: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Perform:Oratory: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

1) She's using Disguise Self to make her eyes look non-glowy. 2)She's using her Sleeves to add shimmer to the dress, but it's still a nice dress as-is (Ray, let me know how much a nice dress would cost her, and I'll remove it from her sheet - sorry, but I assumed she'd have the ability to find a dress at some point prior to the party). 3)
The Perform: Oratory check is mostly to add flavor to her stories. She's not really doing a full-on performance, but she IS trying to build some credibility for later bargaining. 4)Ray, does she get a look at the person spreading this rumor about the "shady lowlifes" who "ambushed" the Scorched Hand?

EDIT: Nevermind about the eyes. Disguise self has a 10 min/level duration, which isn't long enough to matter for the party. Her eyes are glowy blue as usual

I don't remember if anyone claimed the Spear of the Watchful Guardian or not. It's worth significantly more than 100gp, so if no one wants it, should probably go on the sell pile, but then again, to get only 2k for it seems downright criminal.

In fact, Izra would probably give up her crossbow (which she almost never uses) and keep the spear, if nobody else wanted it. She's not and probably won't be a front-liner (although with the better armor, and the ability to create a 50% miss chance, she's becoming more and more tank-like, compared to the rest of you), but it's worth keeping that thing around for a while.

So let's not put the spear on the "sell" list. And while we're not selling it, who wants it?

Don't sweat the time needed, Ray. We're all still here. Get better.
