I enjoyed this much better the second time, though to be honest I don’t remember actually meeting the Piper the first time. Could just be my memory though.

I think I need much more PF2e play to get used to the system, but I do enjoy it a lot - Ican see it is much easier to do “apprentice”, though it hasn’t really helped me (electric arc ad infinitum!!!!).

I’m up for continuing...

”Plan for what?” asks Haoa, completely befuddled by the various goings on - doors, weird instruments, purple lights, having woken up without remembering how he got where he is, kidnappings, passageways. He suddenly misses his grandma.

Hsoa has little idea of the purpose of the chamber, but it appears to be inimical to healthy existence, and given Red’s state and Kamira’s reaction, Hsoa wants to move on quickly. He tries to remember the layout they have moved through so far, but is inexperienced with such structures...

Hsoa is torn, on the one hand he doesn’t want to leave his villager friends, on the other, it makes much more sense to find a way out as a small group. In the end, he hopes it is being thus pragmatic and not his own chances of survival that makes him nod.

”Red’s...life essence has been...drained by what or whoever just had him. Before he was brought back here. I fear the same fate will befall us all if we do not make our own escape...” The lizardfolk looks at each of his new, awake friends.

Hsoa’s eyes squint, then bulge as he at first doesn’t get, then completely realises the import of Kamira’s thinking. The lizardfolk has no time to protest as the door begins to open, he dashes back inside his cell, and shuts the door, but stands at the door with hands on the bars to better see the creature entering.

Hsoa breathes hard, shaking his head in an attempt to clear his aching and febrile mind. The swaying lanterns do little to ease his confusion, or fear. A slight pit in his stomach yowls, wanting to expand and swallow him whole. He breathes again, trying to remember how he came to be...wherever this was. Nothing.

"Hello?" he calls out hoarsely in the Common tongue, fairly sure this..place... is not lizardfolk built.

Where am I? Where are ma and da? he wonders, more worried for them, oddly, than himself.

In the village; children of the villagers: Kap, Red, Tod, Vimi and Bek. Hsoa knows them a little, but is a bit of a newcomer to their group. Tod is a bit cold toward Hsoa, for no reason apparent to Hsoa.

At home; his mother Hska, father Pkkaktch and gnarly old gramma Gkstask.

I’m about to start in another 2e game so will make the characters over the next few days...

Hi all! Still haven’t got stats up...


This is OSW’s alias Hsoa. Not got stats yet, but given the 0-levelishness, it shouldn’t take too long, even with the Apprentice option...

Hsoa’s Folk:
”Hsoa, you may not go to the village until your chores are finished.” Hsoa’s mum admonished over her shoulder, crouched and bent over her own mother’s feet, Hsoa’s grandmother’s leathery bunions requiring constant care, at least as far as grandmother was concerned...

”B-but Ma...the others will be waiting!” Hsoa whined, trying not to make eye contact with grandma’s feet, nor grandma herself. Too late. A stick wavered and came for Hsoa’s head, only missing by the virtue of his own quick reactions.

”Clutch of my clutch - never wail or whine! When your great grandmother was chief she suffered no fools, and ate a good many - several of our own tribe!” Grandma’s voice, though hoarse still carried the imprimatur and grandeur of a chieftess. Hsoa tried not to think on the particulars of feasting on fools...

Hsoa’s small family live on the edge of the village, trading with the villagers - mostly the woven reed baskets, fish, roe and occasional spear in return for copper coins. The lizardfolk family have little need for the villager’s wares, and what little they do they pay for in larger towns.

Once Hsoa’s grandmother had been a chieftess like her father and grandfather and great grandmother before her but a cursed trading voyage killed her mate and brought her low, unprotected and deposed by her once loyal shaman - now she and her daughter, shiftless son-in-law and idiot grandson eked out an honorless existence on the periphery of the dry-folk “civilization”. Hsoa felt the brunt of grandmother’s bitter ire, having no knowledge of his clan or people, and being ever more enveloped in the mores and ways of the village folk.

Still, grandma looks at him oddly, and examines him strangely from time to time, prodding him and probing him for evidence of...something. And these dreams he has, of tearing and rending and writhing....
