I wanted to see what happened to him. :)

She tries to land a punch to his head. "Play this, Piper!"

As the Half-Orc connected with the man's jaw, he collapsed to the floor. Or at least his clothes and bones did as his flesh disintegrated into a dark mist. It pulled back to the throne and coalesced into a humanoid form. Turning two glowing red eyes your direction and says in a hauntingly deep voice, “You are strong, that is good. I will feast on your souls, but first, they will need to ripen.” The being stretches forth a shadowy claw-like hand and a cold sensation burns itself onto your right wrists. Looking down, you see a strange black mark is now visible on your wrists. The sensation soon spreads over the rest of your bodies, locking you in place.

Looking over the four of you its eyes fall Shadei. In a blur of motion, it flew over and enveloped Shadei. Moments later it was absorbed within her.

Her skin darkened and her eyes turned blood red. An evil grin crossed her face as she looked at the rest of you. Blowing a kiss to Kamira she said, "Toodles."

The air shimmered about her and she vanished from sight.

The mystical hold on your bodies dissipates soon after.

Ghida gasps a sigh, of equal parts shock and relief. She walks over to Hsoa, kneels beside him, and takes his hand. She looks back at Kamira.

"I think that means we're free...for now."

She bows her head, exhausted.

"Maybe," Kamira replies, her eyes affixed on the dark mark circling her wrist.

She represses a shudder as she thinks of Shadei's glowing eyes and sinister smirk, banishing the thought of her veiled threat by redirected her attention on Hsoa, kneeling to the lizardfolk to take care of his bruised head in hopes of waking him up, but her hands are shaking so much that she can't even examine him properly.

As Kamira examined Hsoa, her mace slipped from her belt and slammed into his ribs.

Hsoa, you now have the Dying 2 condition. Again, you can roll to stabilize or spend the Hero Point to lose the condition and regain 1 hit point. I'd recommend that route given the dice rolls lately.

Given we are out of combat, and this introductory episode nears its close, I’ll utilise the Hero Point!

Hsoas eyes popped open as he grunted in pain and clutched his side.

Although Kamira jumps in surprise as Hsoa suddenly regains consciousness, she quickly regains her composure:

"Good, you're awake. I may have accidentally bruised your rib while trying to heal you. I'm sorry. Can you get up? The Piper is dead and we need to leave."

Battered and bruised, the three of you search the remains of the man and find a single healing potion. Further searching about revealed a door behind the throne which led to a simple bed chamber.

On a small table next to the bed is a hexagonal pendant emblazoned with the same symbol that now adorns your wrists. Taking the pendant and freeing the other children from their cells, you head to the main chamber and discover that the pendant fits the indentation in the wall mural perfectly.

The wall transforms into a portal of mystical energy that sucks all of you into it.

You each emerge back in your bed, as if you had never left.

That officially ends this homebrew module. Please see the discussion tab.
