Bah - bugger the dwarves and drow. I'm barracking for svirfneblin and kobolds!

Dropped a marker down in the custom art level for now.

Deep gnomes and kobolds would be trivial adaptations to play in this campaign. The first holding you can gain is Fasturvalt, a deep gnome village. The drow employ kobold slaves who could rise up and build their own empire.

I was backer number 14. Your previous work has me excited about what this AP will be like!

Oh aye - understand that completely and know that you've said as much multiple times in the past. Even more so than with WotW I think the underground sandbox of Throne of Night should be rife for a huge variation of kingdoms both genial and unkind to spring up.

It can actually tell you what number you are? Cool. I never saw that. Nor can I find that now.

I'm signed on as well. Hopefully as the days go on we'll see the stretch goals become a reality, and maybe even see a few more little tidbits that are worthy for donations.

I wanted the books, but $30 shipping kind of kills it for me. Sucks not living in the same country.

Kevin - remember that is actually $5 shipping per book as you'll receive six separate parcels, one for each AP volume as it's released.

As far as shipping goes it's a pretty good deal, and you could always ask to see if there would be a shipping reduction to hold your six volumes and ship as a single parcel once the last volume of the AP is complete.

Oh no, I realize that. It's just not something I was expecting. Honestly, that's money I'd rather put towards the kickstarter itself. I'm fine with the pdfs though.

Kevin, in the box where it says how many backers there are, there were 12 when I started, and after I received my confirmation email, there were 14. So, I was the 14th.

Loved your Way of the Wicked AP.

Supporting the next Kickstarter as well.

As a suggestion, since Druegar are involved, could you contact Jeremy Smith and see how you can integrate Psionics into the AP as a alternate power system?

Might be more than what you are looking for, but it would broaden the audience, so to speak.

Okay, fair enough. Unfortunately, it's in no particular order now and it updates every 10 backers, so I won't know what I was.

I'm checking this out. I missed Way of the Wicked, but I'm old enough to remember the 1st edition AD&D series as it came out.

Plus, it would be cool to have a proper dwarf AP.

Jim,

Way of the Wicked is on Paizo for sale right now. The 6th volume just released recently enough that I do not have it on my shelf yet but I believe I have the PDF.

Definitely checking this out!

In for $200. See you at Gen Con Gary!

(As an aside, will this adventure path use the kingdom building rules - originally from Kingmaker, and revised and expanded in Ultimate Campaign - at all?)

Backed!

Looking forward to this AP's release.

I'm still running my players through Way of the Wicked, and it has been a great experience. Though my players might be a little too evil sometimes...

Gary,

I've purchased all of WotW and they are some of the finest adventures I've seen in a LONG time. I will most certainly be signing up for the ToD Kickstarter shortly. However, I do have one comment/request that I think will help Fire Mountain Games in the short and long run, and it will most definitely help out a lot of your customers.

Hero Lab files. Almost all of the PnP RPG Kickstarter projects that I've seen lately have offered Hero Lab files for the encounters. I'm going to guess that since FMG didn't offer these for WotW (d20pfsrd.com does have HL files for the first 3 adventures created by outstanding community members and ShadowChemosh) and HL files aren't listed as a reward at any pledge level for ToD, that you don't use HL when you build the encounters in the adventure.

I can't recommend strongly enough that you start using HL to build your encounters. I don't say this only from the selfish perspective of a customer who would dearly love access to those files, but also from the perspective of a fellow GM who wants to make your life a LOT easier. Building Pathfinder encounters, especially for level 12+ becomes so much easier than doing it by hand, it is like night and day.

I can tell you that for myself and other busy GMs that live and die by Hero Lab support for the adventures that we are considering for our home campaigns, available Hero Lab support can be a deal breaker.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to everything that FMG produces with an enthusiasm that has previously been reserved only for products from Frog God Games and Paizo. Keep up the great work sir!

Love this idea for an AP. WoTW is awesome. Just put down my $120.

Keep it up!

First, thanks to everyone who has backed us so far. $7000 in less than 24 hours and rising fast. Woohoo!

Jim, I agree that it is ludicrously overdue that a proper dwarven campaign see the light of print. "Throne of Night" is definitely my effort to write a campaign so "dwarf-y" that you're beard will literally grow while you read it. Yes, both genders. :)

Dr. Johnny Fever,

Thanks for the feedback. Herolab setup is not an inconsiderable amount of work and we are a small company. But...I hear you. How to make this happen is the question. I will give it some thought.

And thanks for the kind words and your support. We are working hard to make Throne of Night every bit as good (and hopefully better) than "Way of the Wicked".

24 hours through our kickstarter and we're already 48% funded. Thanks everyone! We greatly appreciate your support.

How hard would it be to GM this as two rival coexisting campaigns i.e. one table playing drow slavers to the east and another playing as dwarven reclaimers. The idea is to roleplay backstabbing races for resources, exploration and plunder while trying to sabotage the enemy.

Rune - probably pretty easy. A lot of the info so far places it in a Kingmaker like vein - as in a big underground sandbox to play in.

From FMG's website:
“Throne of Night” will be a subterranean sandbox (complete with three dimensional hex map) wedded to a powerful and dynamic tale of war and conquest in the deep places of the world. Raid the surface for slaves and treasure to trade in the bazaars of a decadent dark elven city. Defend the deep gnomes from ruthless slavers earning their allegiance. Sail sunless seas and explore hidden caverns never seen by mortal eyes. All of this and more will be yours in a “Throne of Night”.

Oh it'll be easy as sin itself. That's actually going to be one of the options in one of the later books, as well as the mushroom people. There's like five or six different ways you can play this.

Rune,

Easy? I'm not sure I'd ever call anything as logistically tricky as coordinating two groups of PCs easy.

But with Throne of Night we're going to give you as many tools as possible to make a true competitive Dwarves vs. Drow campaign possible.

The Throne of Night kickstarter is up and running! Will you be a heroic dwarf or a villainous drow?

I'm in for $150, looking forward to it. I do have a concern. If enough of your sales come from people pledging $150 for the WoW AP, will you still be able to produce ToN? Probably an empty concern but I was curious.

Would fulfillment through Paizo for the .pdf files be possible?

The Way of the Wicked AP has been published completely. No worries there.

I know, I'm just worried abuot ToN getting a false boost from people who pledge for WotW. Probably needless concern anyway.

Well the pledge boost for printed way of the wicked is for explorer level (getting the printed ToN) so they're just adding that for people who may have missed WotW the first go round.

Personally I have pledged for all 12 PDFs but I may up it towards end of run depending on how funding lines up. Because I love the feel of books in my hand.

I plan on running ToN at least 3 times so I can get the full experience of it. Once as Dwarves, once as Drow, and once as the adventuring party option.

What are international shipping costs at the explorer-level? Shipping for each book separately? If so, how much?

Thinking about joining, but with shipping from the US, waiting for the final books might actually turn out to be cheaper for me... .__.

Endzeitgeist - International shipping at the Explorer level is $30... it's stated on the kickstarter page just below the pledge level description.

EZG,

What Mark said is one hundred percent correct. We are eating a bit of international shipping costs per book to make it as economical as we can.

But, either way, we appreciate your support and I look forward to your reviews of "Throne of Night".

I have never been part of a Kickstarter, but between Throne of Night and Exalted 3 Edition I suppose I must begin to change that politic. No idea how Kickstarter works, and my lasts two international shipping have been horror stories; I much prefer buying the PDF and print it myself. No problem doing that with the Kikstarter? If finally I don't participate on the Kickstarter, no problem buying it on the publication data, right?
Two questions on the Adventure Path itself:
- The lasts adventures of WotW where clearly more slow than the firsts ones. The publication rate of Throne of Night will be one volume every two months?
- My party begin Wicked around the time of the publication of number 4. And later we have to rework a little some characters with the publication of the options of book 5. On Throne will be character options as late as in Wicked?

Either way, I'm eagerly waiting for it.
Best of lucks with Throne of Night, Gary. ^^

Alaryth - there is a PDF only option on the kickstarter, so if you don't want to do the international shipping thing then you can pledge at that point.

Similarly the AP volumes will be published afterwards, but there might be a few kickstarter only bonuses that you miss out on like exclusive bits if stretch goals are met.

Cool. I've never done a Kickstarter thing before, but this has always sounded really awesome since Fire Mountain Games announced it a while back.

So... I signed up and pledged for the PDFs. Woot!

Sorry, wasn't sure whether the 30 bucks would be shipping for all books or one. If the WotW 7-stretchgoal is met, at how much extra international shipping would we look for that one in addition? Sorry, but I have to calculate a very tight budget at the moment and ToN is severely tempting me in spite of myself. ;)

Dark Archive

I'd also like to see psionics in this AP.

And how about a Player's Guide? Way of the Wicked had one included in the first book, but I like them better as a seperate product, especially in print. One of my players is far too fond of checking books for pictures.

I'm on a tight budget too, like EZG, but my question is what do you expect each print/PDF bundle issue to cost here on Paizo? It is easy to add each issue to my subscription and it spreads the cost. But I really want to support it and if it is (even slightly) cheaper I can justify the up front cost! And I get the extras too, obviously :D

EDIT: Found it, as saving of 30$ and shipping is cheap, I'm in too

FMG can confirm - but I believe it is for shipping the six books individually as they are released.

As for the additional stretches FMG will need to confirm, but I think the intent would likely be to bundle with one of the regular AP volume shipments so there shouldn't be much impact to total shipping cost.

@End, in the kickstarter comments someone asked about options for shipping 1 WotW book with each ToN, and Gary confirmed this as probably possible with no additional costs. That's why I jumped in for both. Cheap international postage makes this one a top deal. Yay disposable income!

@Gary, WotW has been inserted into Golarion by many as House Thrune's rise to power. Will you make ToN similarly connectable to Golarion? Will it fit with the revealed Darklands lore/geography/history?

I'm in on faith based on the rave reviews for Way of the Wicked. I'm looking at PDF only right now, though the signed print versions are tempting.

Herolab files as a stretch goal would REALLY sweeten the deal. A poster would be awesome too.

This looks like a fantastic product. Underdark, one of my favourite things!

Can I just clarify though? It doesn't mention at the $150 level about receiving the 6 print copies of WoW; it only mentions this under the description, where it says 'you may receive print copies of all six'? Is this definite or contingent upon something? Why is it not mentioned in the pledge levels?

Thanks!

Way of the Wicked is done, so they're just add-ons for this Kickstarter. So if you choose, you may add-on the print copies.
