However, with that sluggishness in mind, it's probably important to know when to let PCs talk things out and when to move things along.

Goat swallows the apple and bleats something at his hooded master. He nudges Sanstree, then trots past Erine into the room.

Even with Bull's Strength, it's only a 22. That'll require three other Aids.
To that end, however...

Goat trots over, reaches around the whirring blades and clamps his teeth down on Broccan's collar.
Strength (aiding): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
That's another +2 to the check.

Goat stays between Erine and the baboon as the gnome witch attempts to escape.
Goat will ready an action to ram any who give Erine trouble.

Goat attempts to lick Orion.

Zaniah Riverthorn wrote:

"Oh, that was you..." Zaniah trails off, seemingly oblivious to Erine's suspicious look. "I thought I had heard of you. Traveling with heroes, hm..? This has gotten much more interesting. It seems a fair task. I shall give it my all."

She frowns when the Stormblades are mentioned. "And I see we have both had the displeasure of making their acquaintance."

"Maa."

Orion the Cat wrote:
Orion simply tilts its head quizzically in response, before licking his paw and hiding behind Zaniah's leg, glaring at the goat.

Goat steps forward and tries to nudge Orion with his nose.

Goat looks at Orion bemusedly, apparently torn between suspicion and curiosity.

Sanstree's turn, right?

Erine raises her hands as if picking something up. "Aboef!" she murmurs.
The banner is lifted off its hangers. It floats slowly over the troll.
Erine lowers her hands, ending the spell.

Dropping the burning banner on the half-troll.

Canvy moves next to Erine and casts a spell.
Lesser Confusion: Will save, DC 13, or the troll is confused for one round. 1d4 ⇒ 4

By the way, 1,000 posts! :D

Goat's eyes narrow at Canvy. "Maaah," he says derisively.

You are up. Updated map

Ugh. I lost my 'X New' feature and missed all the latest posts. Apologies, Canvy.

Erine gives up trying to reason with the man and pulls out her wand. Sic it, Goat!" she shouts. Goat brays and, stepping into view, charges down the corridor at the hellish creature, head down and curved horns aimed directly at the rat.
Goat takes a five-foot step, then charges. In light of the dramatic circumstances, I'd like to merge his Hero Points with Erine's. I spend his one to get a +2 to attack (in addition to the bonus from charging)and the other two to maximise any damage roll.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
And 4 damage to the rat.

Init 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (5) - 1 = 4

Goat grunts and moves to sniff the newcomer. Erine sighs and walks over, standing by her familiar as he inspects Ms. Vang.

He whispered it, so I'm not sure you'd hear it so easily.

Satisfied, he retrieves his ale and steps over to the other table, "I see ye've met th' bashful one. M' name's Edrukk." He grins as he leans in conspiratorially, "'t's good t' see a stonefolk now 'n then. Let's ye know 'ere's still 'ope fer th' better." Standing back up, he adds, "If'n 'is one get's t' be botherin' ye, let me know." He winks and returns to the other table to nurse his ale.
Ah a fellow dwarf! May he be from Thunderhold, as well? Valgrim smiles at the Edrukk's arrival. "Well met, fine folk!" Valgrim gives him a hearty greeting, grasping the dwarf's forearms in his visor grip. He leans in and whispers "The Truth is in the Steel!", a common saying in Thunderhold, usually responded to by "So we must study the Blade to find it!" If Edrukk does not respond, Valgrim shrugs his shoulders and wishes the dwarf well.

Erine watches the newcomer warily. The goat approaches, however, and sniffs the dwarf.

"MAAAA!"
Goat charges forward not literally, since Sanstree's in the way)and butts the orc standing over Broccan. His eyes glow red with fury. Erine follows (double move), shouting very rapid Draconic without pausing for breath.

Draconic:
"Enslavers of the favoured children, spawn of the destroyer, cowardly halfbreeds, back away, or may the spirits help me, but I will peel your flesh from your bones and give it life, that it may be more worthy of it than you!"

Goat rams the orc: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
I'm going to try to intimidate the orc into moving away from Broccan, with Goat trying to aid.
Aid: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (11) - 4 = 7
Actual Intimidate (+2 if Goat succeeds, and I spend my HP): 1d20 - 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) - 3 + 2 = 18

Crossbow attack 1d20 (Minus 4 to result shooting into melee)
Damage 1d8

I'm on a roll with these low rolls now, whoopee!

Erine glares. "You have a point, Goat."
Yes, Goat does. A hero point. I've been giggling all day.
In addition to the one he already had? I'm proud of the fact that my familiar actually has more HPs than I do. XD
You may pool them if you like, but it's more stylish to keep them separate. I think familiars need all the hero point they can get and Goat deserves them.

I don't want to pool them, anyways. :)

Canvy Mandrain wrote:

Canvy blinks his eyes, his fingers rub the sleep out of the corners and he shakes his head, trying to remove the daze of a deep sleep. In a semi automaton state he reaches for his chain shirt. With the urgency of Broccan and Edrukk speaking and hearing the words 'orcs approaching', Canvy's head seems to clear of any slumbering thoughts. He picks up his scale mail lying next to his bed, but realizing he doesn't have time to put it on, sets in front of him as many fully loaded crossbows as he can. He calls to Erine, shakes her a bit to wake her and says "Wake up Erine, I've got a job for you. Can you reload these crossbows and pass me one so that I can continually fire at the green 'uns on their way here."

I'd like to apologise in advance for this, but she's tired, and already terrified of Canvy. What Goat does here is exactly is exactly what would happen. So on her turn (with a 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8 Init)...

"Aaaah! Goat! Goat!" Erine screams as Canvy touches her. The goat starts awake and tries to bite Canvy's ankle, but is still weary and his attack is blocked by the man's armor.
Bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

Goat butts his target again. Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Confirm: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

"Be careful, Goat! Erine says nervously.

Erine takes a step forward and Goat rushes forward to attack the orc before her.
I'm attacking, and assume the headbutt has the same effect as the bite would.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
1d4 ⇒ 3

So, are they ignoring the glowing figure?

Black Tom wrote:
To clarify, there is an opening just shy of where the map ends, but it does not connect with the corridor, but with the room behind the arrow slits.

Oh, I get it now. Okay, then I cast mage armour on Goat and we move into the courtyard, Goat being on full defence. V6 and V7.

Edrukk Thorvirgun wrote:

I'm putting finishing touches on the map for where we stand right now. I'm not certain where Erine and Goat intend to be. Can you clarify?

Edrukk, nearly filling the hallway now, moves down and around the corner, just entering the mist, before stopping to cast a second spell. An ethereal glow flows from his greatsword, covering his body, before fading from view. Flavor text, it's Shield of Faith

It depends on whether the map is accurate.

The figure advances towards the orcs.
F11, so that's ten feet away from the lump of flesh.
According to the map, there's an opening in the wall northwards. is that just an error? If not, Goat and I move that way. If it is, I cast mage armour on Goat and we move into the courtyard, Goat being on full defence.

"Maaaaaa." Goat seems confused, since he is moving at the same speed as Erine.

Goat fixes her with what seems to be a steely gaze.

I consider my bum truly bitten....LOL.

Not getting out of it that easily. Goat usually acts like Erine's conscience, but when he feels she is threatened (physically or emotionally)he becomes her inner demon, driving her to seek vengeance.

(He tears off a piece of bread and offers it to the goat)

"How'rye this mornin', fella? Ar'ye hungry?"

"Baaaaa." Goat hesitates, then takes the bread and swallows it.

As she speaks, Goat watches Canvy, a calculating look in his eye.
Deevor, is your symbol visible to all or is it concealed?

Canvy Mandrain wrote:

Gorum being CN, Edrukk can choose either, but from what he said I assume he's chosen positive.

Canvy, hides his annoyance at not making his way into the cooks bed, turns without a word and leaves the kitchen, a smoldering look across his brows. Seeing Erine and her animal outside, he sneers a smile at her and leans down to whisper in her ear as he passes, "You too one day my dear...".

Erine shrinks back, but Goat does not. "Baaaaa!" he brays furiously after the man.

"Maaaaaaaaaaa."

"Maaaaaa." Goat scratches his ear.
Apparently, somebody already had my name...weird bit is, they let me keep it up til now if I put a space in. But when I tried to change avvies, they made me completely change it.
Bah...at least I got me an avvy.

And give up texting, or what have you.
Goat is not amused by Sanstree's mockery of his unbelievably great arcane power. Acid Splash!

Tiana Twelvefingers wrote:
Tiana walks to Goat and asks: "Maybe you know... what will we do when the orc sees the wisps?"

The goat glances at her. "Maaaaa," he brays quietly. He gets down on his knees and shuffles a bit, then gets back up.

I'll have to get him a telepathic amulet at some point, so he can actually respond to you guys. Or can witch's familiars talk? Not quite sure.

"Maaaaaaaaa."

"Maaaaaaaaaa."

"Maaaa," the goat brays, and nudges Erine towards the commotion.
